"Mom! Why is it when I try to watch TV I keep getting GDI and NOD symbols?! Can't I just learn about nature and watch a guy drink motor oil in peace?"
At least your mother tipped well... which is why she gets no interference in her TV broadcasts.
I think that was an energy drink that was packaged in something that looks like a bottle of motor oil. Great marketing idea actually.

Seth: A mission so secret that even Kane doesn't know about it.
Kane: I'm sitting right next to you.
If you actually look up the lore of Kane, he is cursed to be betrayed, to suffer betrayal as he did to Able. It explains everything.
"Yes... Power shifts more quickly than some people think." God that intro of Kane was amazing.
11:56
That scares me...
Kane had some great introductions on the Nod campaigns. C&C2 especially. All those chanting "Kane lives in death", and then he shows up on the screen "KANE LIVES!" and the cheering just erupts.
I love the way Seth gets more and more sassy as you gain prestige xD
He's more than a little jealous of the player...
@@julesmcgrules3860 I've also heard he animated his own death.
It's ironic because Kane seemingly doesn't even know about you until Seth brings you up to him in one of the previous missions.

Man this game was brilliant. It wasn't just that the game itself was an innovative masterpiece, but everything about the story and what they did was just incredible. It's genius. It puts the modern industry to shame.
So true - I still prefer C&C to most other RTS games.
@@FrankCastle-tq9bz I came from starcraft, i was presented by generals, i love CNC now.
Yeah
What has changed? After taking the nostalgia goggles off, almost all games were trash back then, too. It's no different than TV, movies, music: some gems amidst the rest of ENDLESS TRAAAAAAASH!
@@Turtleproof Off the top of my head, the current industry would NEVER tackle political issues the way this game did. But I do agree with your point that you remember the gems. Still.. I stand by that they don't make them like they used to, as well
I love how, as you accrue victories, Seth gradually gets more upset as he sees his favor with Kane slipping.
Seth's favour isn't decreasing, but you are becoming more and more of a competitor.
I like to imagine you're just some random guy watching on your computer and you randomly get GDI or NOD signal and get mistake for the new commander.
Playing this for the first time that's honestly how I felt I had no idea how to command anything
That's kinda the feeling that you get watching Red alert 2's install sequence
Kane: "Yes... Power shifts more quickly than some people think." 12:06
Kane is so badass! He's one of my favorite video game villain... Maybe even my favorite one.
Kane was one of the greatest Super-villains ever created, and his method may be brutal, but we never got to see if his plans fulfilled his promises....
azmanabdula Yeah sadly there was never a Command & Conquer 4. Maybe we could have gotton some closure.. unfortunately no such game exists, sad.
Jasper Banks
That game does not exist...
It was horrible....
azmanabdula
I don't know what you're talking about... are you talking about a theoretical game? a game that never existed, which is horrible? ill just assume that's what you meant.
***** I did read into that, but what about his plans for tiberium?
***** Alright in gonna drop what I think should of happened, or what did happen. Kane is an alien from a different planet, once upon a time his race was rekt by the scrin, he and some others escaped he found earth. He goes through the portal to travel back to his home planet, where scrin portals have already been built. The planet abandoned, the reclamation begins and his followers colonize the new world. Maybe he uses his races's technology to get back at the scrin somehow. The thing that makes zero sense is that the tiberium is somehow dissapearing, which doesnt make sense. What, a portal fires off and that stops tiberium?, its such an Ex Machina.
11:33 You know damn well that Seth was setting you up here. If you failed, you'd likely die in the attack. If you by some miracle succeeded, Kane would be royally pissed and Seth would have said you did this on your own and tossed you to the wolves. He was planning on getting rid of you. Thankfully, Kane saw your worth and intervened personally.
But why say 'power shifts quickly in the Brotherhood' which was a death sentence from Kane..he could have lied about the whole thing and said the orders came from above and you would never know the difference. It seems like he did actually want to usurp Kane as well.
@@anwarsiddiqi5935 He thought Kane wasn't listening...the fool.
i mean this is more that it was hiw on fool's errand
Seth would still win if you got captured by enemy scientists
Sending nod troops to the lion dent was a suicide mission.
The possibilities of Tiberium...Are limitless....
I suppose that's correct
Much as Kane believes that tiberium is our future, by this time he does not have positive proof that tiberium can be properly used because the idea of people being mutated and living hasn't really become a theory yet, just a hypothesis.
@@boxtank5288 Two Words: Project Regenesis
I just realized there was a distant clacking sound right after Seth says "Power shifts quickly in the Brotherhood", which was likely Kane either opening/closing a door, or loading his gun.

That's Daniel Kucan, Joe Kucan's (Kane's) brother in reality. The woman is his girlfriend.
***** Yeah, really. There was an AMA for the Kucan brothers, where some person asking who the guy slapping the woman was during the intro, and they answered that it was Daniel Kucan and his girlfriend.
Daniel Kucan also played a few other roles in Tiberian Dawn/Red Alert/Tiberian Sun (e.g. McNeil's brother who defects to Nod).
Benjin Pratt Was he also the Nod supporter who was there reporting the Ion cannon strike on temple prime in Tiberium wars?
BonafideBarnabus ' Yes, I think so.
+BonafideBarnabus ' He was in C&C4 as well in one of the endings (Nod I think).
And I think he was a Steel Talon member in Kane's Wrath.

Joseph Kucan was born for this role. He has a theater group here in Vegas. Seemed friendly I was too stoned and star struck to talk to him. This was 6 years ago. The theater group is called Public US.
kane was the best accident in gaming history :)
What I enjoyed about Nods campaign was that it was obviously more difficult than GDI, but that over time your arsenal got more powerful and tactical - using stealth tanks to distract the enemy base whilst light tanks and flame tanks took down main defences. Couple that with the obelisk of light's power and building one near a captured structure within their base made for a satisfying guerrilla campaign.
The hardest mission is that level where Seth says find the detonator and get out of you can
In that mission you had to go 8nto the gdi base and have one of your troops blast down one of the fences and one of them must grab it but if that same soldier dies then you're screwed and you have to leave the base as they are well conquering your units
@@fargeeks Actually I completed it in very short time.I think Nod8 got me crazy

1:52 What amazed me is the fact they put a scene of an Arabic artist! My own language!

Westwood lives in death!
There is a certain degree of truth in that - the original Westwood creations are far more popular than anything EA created after taking control of the franchise.
Westwood lives in our hearts.
Westwood was tha bomb! EA destroyed the game...
The Pentagon is swarming with GDI battle mechs… Seth was sending you on a suicide mission
Damn, this ending should have been canon. Imagine being the GDI in the second game trying to win back the public's trust after the Ion Cannon leveled one of the four capitals of the GDI.
There's a 3rd party mod (now a standalone game) for tibsun called twisted insurrection, go Google it.
2 years, but that's always been my biggest complaint with Westwood (RIP). They never have the villains win, which makes them seem like pathetic Saturday morning cartoon villains- ineffective and weak. Furthermore, it makes the good guys seem incompetent for never actually neutralizing the enemy completely, allowing them to come back yet again.
XCOM2 did a great job showing how a sequel going off of the bad ending can make for an interesting POV from the usual "good guys win, but oh man the bad guys are back again oh geez oh wow zip zop zoopity zow however did this happen?"
@@om3ga109 Warcraft 1 and Starcraft: Brood War had the bad guys win canonically. It made the game more interesting when you know you're the bad guy, and you either run down the good guys who are not so good, or other bad guys.
@@om3ga109 Actually, Westwood did have the bad guy win. C&C: Red Alert 1 is actually the prequel of Command and Conquer and it explains how Nod become a superpower by taking over the USSR. The Allied route is where the timeline branch out to make Red Alert its own series (theoretical, since its possible that Nod still take over USSR in all subsequent title, just that their plan got delayed and wasn't shown explicitly like in Red Alert 1), so at least in relation of Tiberium, USSR ending is canon.
@@13gan Nope, actually both Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Dawn come from the Allied Ending of Red Alert 1.
The original Command & Conquer 3 was to feature a mission where it would be revealed that Yuri was a Nod Acolyte, part of a psychic project, until he was flung into the past by a Chrono Vortex, creating the Red Alert 2 timeline.
There was also a project of a Renegade game set after Red Alert 2, where, from the defeated Soviet Union, Nod iconography and architecture started showing up.
Not to mention, it would make no sense that the Soviet ending is canon in the Tiberium timeline, because that would mean Nod would have an iron-fist control over Europe, which it doesn't have in Tiberian Dawn.
Goddamnit Kane! I wanted to attack the Pentagon!
+Adam Markowski You can't. The game don't have urban map. Your main focusing is Africa to wipe out GDI presence.
+Kenneth Yu Yes, I know, although when I first played this game I was like 7-9 year old, didn't had all the mechanics figured out yet, and I was pretty damn sure I'm about to witness new enviroment! Big city instead of all those empty spaces! Aaaaand... nope, not at all, just Kane shooting poor Seth.
And few games later you still couldn't destroy it....well excluding Red alert 2....ohh in Tiberium wars you had to defend it..laaame gimmie that Pentagon mission in this game!
@@AdamMichalMarkowski being absolutely Fair, Seth wanted you to die so that's why he planned to have you go against impossible odds and thusly die.
Have to wait until C&C3 for that, dude.

Decades ago, when I was 12-13 and first played this, Kane was the man that I wanted to be when I 'grew up'.

It truly is a memorable game. I, too, thought the story had gone a little off track, but when I sat down and read more into the story, it became obivious that it's build on christianity. Despite being an religious based story, it's hella good. And kane is one amazing actor!

It's kind of smashing to hear all those old time classic game sounds planted into the intro scene... For example, the "goofy" laughing on the children's channel I've heard in numerous other instances too, at least in the Legend of Kyrandia -games. ^_^ Absolutely nostalgic.
That Nod campaign was really difficult.
+Rhsims Yeah, Nod hardly ever gave you the chance to start a base in a decent area. It was all having to capture the enemy base or win missions with a very small force or finding your base or whatever. I think C & C 3 tried to recreate that type of campaign for Nod, but on a not-as-difficult scale
Hm...Nod campaign is not difficult...but its about different style. GDI - classic gameplay, search and destroy. NOD is about stealth, terrorism, capturing enemy buildings a resources.."hit and run" style.
GDI and fast? Airdrop is slower, but Nod units are cheaper = faster building. So it's pretty much the same...Grenadiers are great, but Nod flamethrower is deadly (instant-multi killer)...unfortunately for friendly infantry too....AI is real motherfucker cheater. .but its dumb..No formations, chaotic attacks...and airstrikes are funny ( AI always bombing northern unit or building, so you dont need SAM sites...just one tank or buggy and good place).
you haven't master the God mode that is building sand bags
Nod by military theory is suppose to be harder. GDI is a professional military that relies on Technology. Firepower is better. Nod on the other hand is more of a mixed between professional and militia, I am not sure why Kane choose to do this but each theater of war operates on its own reporting only to Kane instead of a unified command structure so each General in Nod has no knowledge of other Nod officers in other areas and thus they are relying on them selves. Even though Nod is TECHNICALLY technologically superior than GDI, they rely on numbers and hit and run in order to win which is why Nod campaign is traditionally harder.
Kane Lives!

+GAMESYSTEMHUNTER
He is the quiet lunatic in the corner, secretly honing his wits and blade, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. That is what is most disquieting about Kane.
Joseph Kucan deliberately plays down Kane to appear normal, save for a few moments of pure, uncontrolled rage -- making Kane a true psychopath. It takes a lot of self-control to play the role of a gigantic character like Kane in a reserved, quiet manner, but Kucan pulls it off brilliantly. You almost convince yourself that he is a normal person, then he goes and puts a bullet in some girl's ribcage like he was making his coffee. (see the final Soviet scene in CnC: Red Alert)
For example: Jeffery Dahmer was so calm and collected, he managed to talk a cop out of searching his car, which was stuffed with human body parts.
