Hohner Claviola Review: How does Hohner's Rarest Instrument Sound? [sold]

- Today we look at the Hohner Claviola. *Excuse me for mistakingly calling it a Clavinova in the video...I get the terms mixed up!* Anyway, this is a very interesting, very rare musical instrument from the Hohner company, that doesn't really sound like an accordion or harmonica, but rather more like a clarinet perhaps. This is due to the direction that the air flows over the reed, and through the exit pipes.

As a collector I would like one of these but are too rare and expensive. It sounds like a mellow melodica. The tubes round out the raspy reed sound somewhat.
I didn't know you didn't have your music store anymore. When did you retire? Anyway, I absolutely love the sound of this thing. Lord knows I would buy it although I live in Canada though.
Yes, I had too many side businesses running, and shut this one down. I will keep the videos up for reference though, and may post from time to time, just for fun.

I think you might have gotten a little tongue tied with its name. I just want to make the point, this is a ClaviOLA - says it right on the instrument. The ClaviNOVA is a trademark of Yamaha, and is used on their digital piano instruments.
It's a really unique sound though - almost like a very mellow clarinet. Certainly something I've never seen before.

I know, I know. I wanted to say Claviola, but we have a Yamaha e-piano at home, so I get the names mixed up.

Interesting instrument, but sounds nowadays like an cheap chinese kids keyboard.
looks awkward and very un-cool but, not a bad sound.
