I don't think you've gone wrong with buying the Nissan. Having worked at a Nissan dealership, a Toyota dealership, and a Ford dealership, the Nissan would have been my choice too. If this generation is anything like the previous, it will last for years. And you're right, for the price the base model pretty much comes well equipped with all the you really need for thousands less than the others.
Coming from a chevy guy, I think FCA made a mistake by discontinuing the Dakota. And have to agree... Nissan currently IMO has the best looking compact pickup!
Bought a 2022 for 31k with 1700 miles on it a month ago.alot of quirky new electronics u gotta get used to.good power.feels like a truck.looks better than other midsize.good room for taller drivers.way bigger than tacoma.good price.hopefully I made a good choice
So far, I still regularly find myself actively enjoying my smaller truck. I was coming from a big Ram 2500 Heavy Duty so this was a big step down in size for me, but a step up in enjoyment.
Thanks for the review, it sounds like a really good buy and like you weighed everything out before buying, like I’m doing now. I currently drive a 97’ Hardbody 5spd, regular cab with 234k on it and it’s starting to get to a point where I can’t trust it to do trips anymore than an hour or two away and I’ve been really weighing my options between the new Tacoma’s and these new Frontiers and honestly feel like I’ll end up getting a Frontier. I’ve had two hardbodies, my dad has owned an 86 Datsun pickup + two 1st Gen Frontiers ( 1 of which had a tree fall across its hood and he drove it on the tow truck ) and my uncle has owned one hardbody and one 2nd Gen Frontier, so it’s safe to say that I feel like it just makes sense to get a Frontier. I just want to buy something that I know will last me at least 25 years and I have no doubt at all that a Nissan Frontier can do that. Safe travels!
Man I have an 05 Xterra, and it’s my first truck, so the dealer kind of got over on me, I’m so ready for a new truck and ever since these got remodeled in 2022 I have just wanted one, from the upgraded engine and tranny to the new exterior and interior I just really want one, hopefully in a few years. Great video man
I bought my 2nd nissan Frontier the first was a 2004 Frontier LE that I had 16 years and 300,000 miles, then bought the 2022 SV quad cab and have 25k miles and no problems on that. Very good buy.
i also have a extended cab 2022 frontier S , and they do get a little bumpy over bad roads or off road, coming from the stiff frame like you said, nissan says they use "super high tensile strength steel"
I own the crew cab short bed SV, love it. I took it from Northern Virginia to Chicago and back, ride was comfortable (until you got around Chicago and the endless potholes). EDIT: The other thing, it isn't riding as high and you can still reach into the bed from any side/angle and grab something from the middle.
Nice truck. If it works for you and it’s in your budget then go for it, that’s my way of thinking. I’m a Ford guy myself and I have to have 3/4 ton minimum right now. When I retire that may change. Good luck with it.
Honestly the S in King Cab is one of the nicer looking trucks, Id just swap the wheels out to whatever you want and it would look really sharp. And if Tacoma goes too far Woke Modern with hybrid and turbo's these Nissan's will steal a lot of market for guys who want a traditional engine. These 6ft bed midsize trucks are more "truck" than the newer heavier duty ones with a 5ft bed that is absolutely useless
Agree. It’s fascinating to me that the Tacoma people say they buy for reliability (which equals resale value) but rumor is that Toyota is coming out with hybrids and turbos.
I am Mopar fan myself but in the same boat of not needing a full size truck. Same feeling on the Ranger though I like the fact you can get there FX4 off-road package on the base models. Looking at the Nissan and I was unaware of the limited slip! Cool! That kind of seals the deal! Thanks for sharing!
I purchased a new loaded 22 Frontier, this is my second frontier. The first was a 06 & has 230k on it with one transmission rebuild at around 210K, other than that a great truck. Dont know how long Ill keep the 22, this truck is the worst handeling in the wind I have ever owned, gets dangerous on the interstate. It doesn't scrub off the tires but is miserable to drive. I told the Minnesota dealer about the ill handeling & was told they all handle this way. My 78 year old advice, purchase a different brand. Dont risk your life. I was also told by the dealer that NO limited slip is available on the frontier.
Great video buddy! Picked up the exact same Frontier S King Cab...same color too! Noticed the LineX Bed Liner... do you recall what they charged you? Was thinking LineX or Rhino Liner....
Previous generation used a shortened Titan chassis/frame which is a fully boxed ladder frame. This was the reason it was somewhat heavier than a Tacoma for instance. This may have carried over to this generation? The wheelbase didn't change. Also the 4x4 models use a Dana axle (not sure which one). It's a solid truck IMO.
I have a 2001 Nissan frontier king cab rear wheel drive. Its got the full 6" bed. It has a 4cyl which is good around town but under powered going over a mountain pass. Looked at getting a newer truck and came full circle back to the 2022 Frontier exactly as posted here. I usually only carry one passenger so don't need the 4 door version and besides that would mean a smaller bed. This truck has the V6 and no turbo so it will last longer with less repair and the full size 6ft bed too. More guts to go over the mountains and I love the rear cab doors to put stuff inside like groceries with out having to have a cargo box or shell for that. And the price is way better then a Toyota or Santa Fe.
The Frontier’s a good truck, The base trim is good enough for the price. I like the way you can open the x-cab doors so you put more stuff behind the seats, the v6, the 6 ft bed, the steel wheels, the hard wire to plug your phone into the infotainment and the price around $32k maybe $35k out the door. A base 2024 Tacoma would be much more $$$.
Yes Sir, I was going to buy a used Toyota, but I bought a 2022 Nissan king cab S model 4x4 for $200.00 more than they wonted for the 2020 Toyota 4x4 with 80,000 miles. I love mine I have had it for about four months looks like it may be the same color as yours. All ways good to hear someone else who likes the Nissan.
How much did you pay for it? I am interested in that precise trim to get a slide in camper and I would like to have a good idea of a baseline to negotiate.
Since you're going to bring in the big bucks from this channel in 2023 and paying taxes, can you claim mileage every time you drive the Nissan looking for saws and parts? It's part of building content. I'm not looking for a reply, just throwing it out there for consideration.
That’ll be a good truck for you Just keep up maintenance 100%. Change the trans fluid. Even tho I’m sure it’s a “lifetime” fluid trans Yea. Lifetime of the trans 60k and goes to shit. There’s ways to drain fluids and refill
100% couldn’t agree more. The sealed transmissions aren’t sealed. Stay on top of tranny and diff fluid changes and that thing will last forever. I’m at 300k on my ‘09. I’ve towed 20-22 Ranger and Phoenix boats all over the eastern and southern US. Beds full of wood up and down mountains. Even pulled a school bus out of a big ditch and then 2 miles to a service station. I finally had to put an alternator on it 2 months ago. But as far as the engine and drivetrain goes, I’ve never had to replace anything. But I do my services. It’s my first Nissan. It will NOT be my last. And Nissan beats Toyota all to hell in Horsepower and Torque.
Those fast saw’s are only as fast as their operator… in all actuality the dude doing the deal is probably more than 1/2 the show!!!! Cool,Calm and Collected goes a long long way…. If Irene’s happy then that’s all that really matters, right!
@@novicelumberjack it is, having said that our speed limits in 'Berta on the highways work out to 62mph or 68mph and I'm not a big speeder... Lmao
That’s a great looking little truck! Nissan v-6 is a very good…very good truck! Great engine and drivetrain!!! That little Posi rear 4x system will surprise the shit out of you if you ever get a tow rope around something that needs pulled out!!! It’s a stout little truck there…. Why buy a beater truck? Grab a little used 10-12’ duel axle dump trailer for a couple grand still in decent shape and then just pull it with that.,, that little v-6 will drag 5-6000lb. around pretty decent I’ll bet ya with that V-6 and that transmission that your little truck there will pull a 5k pound trailer down the road with the new f-150 or Toyota Tacoma or any other 1/2 ton or less…. Nissan has that Isuzu commercial truck engine design background … compare the hp and torque of that little Nissan over what the other manufacturers are putting out!!!!

Here I am telling Boedy how to live his life..😂 Why in gods name would you get a Nissan when you have all the wonderful brand trucks like Chevy or Dodge? Well by all means the Nissan is much better economically… I guess you still keep your Dodge. Anyways congrats on a good car!!
Japanese Ford very 👍👍 on fuel if someone stupid asking why ask them how is your miles per gallon they get and then 😀 smile at them and drive away laughing all the way 🏡

lmao saying that 1500s drive better than small pickups. Its because youve never driven a colorado/canyon before. I've driven all the small pickups, the frontier/ranger drive the worst. Tacoma is okay but sluggish, maverick/colorado drive the best.

I have an 06 LBZ with 35s and 6” lift. It’s seriously a chore to drive in the city. The smaller trucks seem like a pleasure if you’re not towing heavy
Thanks for the post 1/2 tons are priced crazy! This s model would suit my needs.

It's the same frame but Nissan made numerous structural enhancements.
The nissan rear turned out to be better than the dana
Do it!!!! Make it a Bandit!!! Lol! Does your S have heated seats and steering wheel?
Great review, I'm really liking the new Nissans. I too would want that 6 ft bed over the 4-door truck. I agree, the Hardbody trucks were sweet!
U can get the 4 dr and 6 foot bed. It’s the model I had to get due to inventory. Not a bad truck
I have a 2001 Nissan frontier king cab rear wheel drive. Its got the full 6" bed. It has a 4cyl which is good around town but under powered going over a mountain pass. They forgot to paint behind the engine ? (4:40)
I had a ford sport Trac/ same size class. Had it for years, those smaller trucks are definitely better for day to day...
Yeah, the big trucks can be a real P.I.T.A. on small roads and in the city.
They are the best truck you can get today I just totaled one got a new ram I won’t that ram you got there bro that’s a sweet truck
I still own my 97 Hardbody had it for 16 years still rolling like new.
How much for the old ram?
Sooo….after almost a year ….would you buy it again ??
Absolutely! Great truck. No regerts with the purchase at all.
With a manual and 4 cylinders under 20k? I’d be into these. Prior gen was 15k
It odd up here the Tacomas and Nissan's are similar priced, at least in higher trims
After my research I think the new frontier is by far the nicest in its class.Im a big Toyota fan but nissan got this
Good-looking little truck, man.
Nothing wrong with feeling your past. 2020 pro4x is mine and yep, good times.
I had that same RC! I. Loved that thing!
Is that a spray in bed liner? I can drop in bed liners or bed mats for my 2022 frontier king cab, 6ft bed.
Yes Sir, I was going to buy a used Toyota, but I bought a 2022 Nissan king cab S model 4x4 for $200.00 more than they wonted for the 2020 Toyota 4x4 with 80,000 miles. Nice looking truck. At least it ain't one of those 4 door things
I broke my bandit 30 seconds after taking it out of the box. It just exploded into a curb, game over
I love the Nissan's
I have a 2022 frontier four doors four wheel drive and have more problems with it than any trucks before.

Got a Ram 2500. Bought it to pull the travel trailer. Gets fair mpg until you hook up that 38 footer! Lol
