I found a hack. Before you put your egg in. Tap on the wide bottom side of the egg. Firmly but not enough to crack it. Do this working around the bottom. When you hear a snap the skin on the inside broke off. You won’t have to use ice water this way. Unless you want to use it to cool of the eggs.

It takes like 7 minutes to boil water on a gas range. Then you have to cook for another 5-15 minutes depending on how done you like the eggs. Then you have to either discard the leftover water, or reuse it for something else.
By chance, before watching this video, I was playing with the idea of air frying the egg. I put only one egg in, put it on air fry for 5 mins @ 300 F, and afterward I have a perfectly cooked softboiled egg. Super easy to peel as well. With the regular boiling method, that would have taken 7 mins JUST to get the water boiling.
Maybe with more eggs it will take a longer time, but so far at least with a few eggs, it's more quick and convenient.

I just got an air fryer for Christmas this past year. I'm planning to cook hard boiled eggs for Easter this week, but I don't want a pot full of boiling water. The eggs tend to break that way. YOUR WAY, would make cooking eggs a lot faster, make them peel easier, and the egg dye will look prettier. I have a dozen jumbo eggs, so i'll cook them 4 at a time
