It all depends on when it happens. If you have mild white smoke coming out when you start the car after a long night then that’s fine, it will stop as the engine heats up but if it’s consistent then you may need to see a mechanic.
Hi thanks for sharing this video unfortunately my car have this problem hard to start once start blowing thick black smoke than cooling fan start to run non stop 😢
2013 challenger 64. Hemi auto. I sometimes notice a second or 2 loss in power during hard acceleration before the hemi comes back to life. What do you recommend. It runs and drives fine currently
My car's oil consumption is getting worse and worse. It does smoke but only at very high rpm when I floor it. Otherwise it idles fine, has no smoke and no obvious loss in power. Is this an early sign of piston rings or stuck piston rings? This has been going on for over a year now and different mechanics tell me different things. But surely after a year the engine would have blown up by now no?
Excessive oil consumption can have many possible causes, and it can be difficult to pinpoint the exact issue without a thorough diagnosis. However, based on the symptoms you have described, worn or stuck piston rings are a possibility. If the rings are worn or stuck, oil can seep past them and into the combustion chamber, which can result in smoke and increased oil consumption. The fact that your car only smokes at high RPMs could be because that is when the engine is under the most load and requires more oil for lubrication. However, it's important to note that other factors could also contribute to the issue, such as a faulty PCV valve, worn valve seals, or even a clogged catalytic converter. These components can also cause increased oil consumption and smoke under certain circumstances. Regarding your question about whether the engine would have blown up by now, it's difficult to say without knowing more about the specifics of your situation. However, if the issue has been ongoing for over a year, it's possible that the engine could have sustained damage over time.
@@carproblemsmax Thanks for the detailed reply. It's going to mechanic no.4 the following week so hopefully they'll be able to get to the bottom of it. What's frustrating about issues like this is that it's hard to be 100% sure without tearing apart the engine. PCV valve was changed too with no joy but I didn't know bad cats can also cause bad oil consumption and mine seems to be rattling slightly under load so that could be worth checking. Thanks again and keep up the great content 👍
@@HendrickT-bi4iw mine was too giving out white smoke at very high RPM not while driving normally. It was also consuming engine oil at a very fast rate. It turned out to bad piston rings. The issue was resolved after changing it. I'd say piston rings/walls are the culprit.
@@johnshepard3197 Yeah I have the same suspicion tbh. I'm no mechanic but if it was stuck rings I think after a year of driving with very frequent oil changes it would have resolved itself or at least got better. This next mechanic wants to flush the oil and try some products but I'm tempted to say don't bother and just give me an engine rebuild quote.
@@HendrickT-bi4iw i have the same problem oil consumption on my 2009 scion xb. has 130,000 miles on it and im going to try (advice from someone who knows about automobiles) I'm trying AMSOIL products Hopefully work.
I have 1 audi a4 b7 2008, sometimes it emits white smoke when I accelerate hard the smoke comes out either at the moment or after 2 hours when I leave the car and go and light a white smoke for about 20 seconds.
Do any piston ring and exhaust symptoms overlap? I have one mechanic saying my issue is the piston rings and another say exhaust. Aren't these completely different? (I have check engine light, low compression in cylinder 1 (P0301), car jerks and I get a 'service traction', egg smell, shakes more when heat on) It's a 2010 Chevy Cobalt. Do you have any ideas?
Car has had overheating issues various times but just from cooling system issues etc certain it’s a head gasket issue but concerned about my positions before I do all the work tearing down the Beamer engine I don’t believe I have oil burnoff just coolant does that rule out piston damage or headwarp?
Very very insightful. Following from Kenya 🇰🇪 east africa.
Excellent video! Beside frequently oil change I always warm up the engine first (slowly) and let it cool down before turn it off. 😅
Overhauled my car, but still smokes after the piston rings change why ?
My car was having white smoke coming out of exhaust and after some Times it dissapered
Valve stem seals

If you bought a kia, no amount of maintenance will prevent a catastrophic engine failure.
😂 can confirm

How is your car now.. Is it good.. I have a problem now that my car has overheating and fan does not stop running. Please help

It can also be bad valve stem seals
thanks
Cylinder 4 Misfire 🤦🏽♂️ I’m getting a coil pack if this isn’t right…I gotta get sum damn piston rings.

Can you tell if it’s a bad piston ring without doing a compression test?
No
I have 1 audi a4 b7 2008, sometimes it emits white smoke when I accelerate hard the smoke comes out either at the moment or after 2 hours when I leave the car and go and light a white smoke for about 20 seconds.
Mechanic said a few pistons on my car are bad. Yet it sounds fine, drives 140+ mph with ease, and doesn’t smoke.
Same here but you can't accelerate it faster .

If you have a low compression test, tell your mechanic to do a wet compression test. It is most likely your piston rings.
I got a corsalite 1.4 the is a blue smoke if u rev there car I don't now why
My mazda produces white smoke and leaks oil through the exhaust???

My mazda cx5 is leaking oil through the exhaust what can it be please help
What did it turn out to be ?
Is a breakdown needed to tell these things?
No
why don't you actually have some sounds that determine what it sounds like when the Pistons rings are good versus bad. Thumbs down!
show real thing, not a ppt
