Thank you for making this video. When I first found out I had lipedema I watched a ton of videos about it and of course, like you said, everyone kept saying you cannot lose weight but you can try to maintain. I am also menopausal...this makes weight loss harder, too. But, I watched your video on April 15, 2024. I decided to try low calorie Keto for 12 weeks. I had not been able to lose one ounce, literally! The scale always had me at 199, 201 202... frustrating. I've been eating the healthy low calorie Keto since 4-17-2024 and have lost 6 pounds in six weeks!!! I am going on two ten minute careful stroll type walks each day and I feel wonderful! The cuffs at my ankles are almost invisible! The cellulite covering my knees is disappearing! Thank you, sweet lady, for giving me hope and a simple plan. Plus, I've got nutritional satisfaction and being off carbs has killed my cravings. I know God led me to watch your video. I've been praying He would help me and He used YOU! ❤️
@jennifermorris643 what wonderful news!! I'm so glad to hear you are getting relief and seeing results. When people raise their eyebrows about how I eat and say it isn't sustainable, I just laugh. They have no idea how good I feel now compared to when I was eating carbs. Just not worth it! If you haven't found my other keto videos they might be helpful ruclips.net/p/PLGrmXtIzhSGLhEfRUCj_A45MG3A_rGIxO Menopause can definitely change things. If you want help finding resources, send me an email through SturdyWoman.com and I can point you to a few.
It was going carnivore that led me to understanding what lipedema was and how it had affected my body shape for my whole life! I'm so grateful for the info you provide and the hope you offer those of us just starting down this road. Carnivore is working great for my needs, and I'm down 30 lbs in 3 months!
Are you still on it? I also eat a lot of meat but I love veg so much. Im thinking of going on eating more veg esp the low carb ones. Ideally I would like to go off meat for good (unless its organic meat now and again)
@@kzp5249 I've done both keto and carnivore, and now I'm ketovore. I have to stay in a calorie deficit to lose weight no matter what eating plan I'm on. Weight loss is very slow, even in a calorie deficit.
You can absolutely lose weight with Lipoedema. I was diagnosed with stage 2 this past June. I had always been between thin and average size (my weight fluctuated throughout my life) with a brief time in which I was obese in my twenties (I’m now 42 and within average weight). After I processed this diagnosis, I went on a journey to improve my health to manage my Lipoedema. I began eating an anti-inflammatory diet and working out at least two days a week at the gym. My diet consisted of having one cup of green tea per morning (no sugar or anything added), significantly decreasing my carbs, lowering my zero sugar sodas from 4 per day to one maybe two per week, eating berries, nuts, dark chocolate, minimizing sugar and salt, seasoning with fresh herbs, onion and garlic, cinnamon, etc., consuming lots of veggies good for controlling inflammation (avocados, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, etc), and eating lean meats (fish, turkey and chicken). While I give myself one “bad” day a week where I eat what I want, my taste has changed where I can’t eat as much of the foods I love. My exercise regimen consists of 90 minutes of walking on the treadmill, keeping my heart rate under 130, which I can do with 3 miles per hour with a 2% incline. I do this 90 minutes twice a week, which is about 5 miles per week. Then I do weights two days a week. Sometimes, schedule permitting, I go three days to the gym but that is not always possible, and some weeks, I go once. But as long as I do an average of two days a week at the gym, I feel like that is best. I also drink a lot of water. I do lymphatic massages a couple times a month as well, and I wear compression all day 6 days a week. My results in three months, according to my appointment with the specialist last week are: I am down 20 pounds since June 18, 2024; I have lost 3.3 liters of fluid, I have lost 5.9 kg of fat, the circumference in my legs have decreased between 1 cm and 3 cm., depending on where (3 cm on my upper left leg was the most significant loss), and I have gained 7 pounds of muscle. The worst was not experiencing any decrease in circumference around my left knee. So, my condition actually did not get worse, but got better or stayed the same (left knee). I had initially made the second appointment with the doctor to see if I could get liposuction. His report? In his words “You have saved yourself 5000 Euros. These results are equivalent to one lipo surgery. Keep doing what you are doing.” So, you can lose weight with Lipedema. It is possible. I think there is a lot out there that says it’s impossible and while it may be more challenging, it’s still possible. Just believe in yourself, create an exercise regimen you can stick to and eat healthier. While I am not a specialist of medical provider, this is how I personally have managed my Lipedema and how I have obtained good results. Since this lifestyle change, I have less inflammation, less pain, less bruising, less stiffness in my legs. Before I was experiencing pain daily, massive inflammation and bruising (primarily around menstruation), and stiffness daily, I have this maybe once per 7 to 10 days (stiffness and soreness). Upon maintaining this change I have made, I feel like I can better live with this condition.
I’m 24 years old, after so many years of not understanding why my legs are so huge and I don’t look like others in my age , I’ve discovered that I have lipedema . I’ve spent the last couple of days in sadness, my legs are my biggest insecurity and I can’t afford liposuction and as far as I know exercising isn’t really affective, I spent the last couple of days paranoid that I won’t find someone to accept that my legs aren’t pretty and that if I became a mother one day that my legs will get bigger and bigger with each pregnancy. This is the first time I found someone to say that exercising might help, I don’t know if it will work with me, but for one minute I felt some hope and comfort . Your comment motivated me and I’m so thankful to you 💜.
I’m grateful to have begun and stuck to clean keto many years before lipedema diagnosis. I started keto because of debilitating digestive issues. This way of eating has been good for me along with long periods of carnivore, and I believe this kept the lipedema stable.
I’m in tears because you’ve given me hope that I can find a food balance that will work for my body. I’ve recently found a great nutritionist that’s as baffled as I have been about how difficult it is to find a nutritional balance that will work for my body type. Between Lipedema and hypothyroidism I’ve stumbled into weight loss. I suspected food sensitivity or allergies may be part of the answer but haven’t known how to confirm. My PCP and nutritionist are open to learning so I’m optimistic. Knowledge is power with this.
I take collagen in my coffee (1 large scoop per cup/ 2 cups of coffee per day) and the pain from my stage 3 lipedema has reduced significantly!! The fat used to feel hard and heavy, and is now much softer and lighter. Lipdema has also been diagnosed as a connective tissue disorder. Collagen helps w/connective tissue.
Hi WK! You're exactly right about lipedema being a connective tissue disorder - definitely a connection with collagen ☺ I think we were on the same wavelength because I just posted about that in my latest video on supplements: ruclips.net/video/gzcTcNDxrFs/видео.html I also love it in my coffee. So glad to hear you've found something that's working for you 💗
I have lipedema. I don't have any real answer for the disease, but i do find regular deep, sometimes painful, but good, massage to the lower back and legs really helps with the heavy painful symptom and gets my mobility back. If your muscle are tight and painful, you do not want to exercise. At now 40, i have managed to maintain lipedema by adding this treatment into my lifestyle along with my exercise patten. Massage isnt a luxury. Its medical for alot of condition, because it can help prevent worse problems starting by draining out the toxins before they do damaged to the muscles. Plus helps breaking up fatty issues. I also know this because i am a spots massage therapist and lipedema woman are some of my patients. They are all better for it. I hope this help alittle.
Have you ever tried using a massage device? I found an old hand held massage device which vibrates quite a bit (and heats up at the same time) I used this device on my knobbly fat areas on my legs. I had one area in particular which was very hard (and numb). Since using the device on this area (which was EXTREMELY painful at first) the knobbly fat has broken down a bit and the muscles of my legs have become much softer,
@@EvilFleesBeforeMe I do actually. G5 they are sometimes called. Thank you for the comments. That did need saying. Standing on vibration plates help as well..
@@flufwix yes it hurts. 😦 I can sympathise there. But so worth it. We will have to have them for three rest of our lives to help with mobility, but that's not the worse thing in the world. And you heal up from trauma much faster if you combind deep tissue massage or lymphatic drainage massage with exercise. This is my life mission now. Lol
Thank you for sharing this. I've just become familiar with the term, but have felt for years there's got to be something in our lines that causes the reaction that I have often when I eat foods. Literally directly goes to my thighs and I can feel it. Super painful thighs even especially during massage or any type of physical palpation. And my mom absolutely has a typical lipedema shape. I just started listening to some videos, and seeing some of the people getting carved up just pains me. I would beg everyone to listen to the recent video by Dr Ken Berry and his guest regarding lipedema. It was fascinating and super enlightening.
The lipedema experts are seriously looking at the keto diet for lipedema patients because not only are they losing the lifestyle fat, but the lipedemic fat cells are shrinking. This is amazing news because lipedema patients were told that their legs will always look like that unless they get water-assisted liposuction, and the keto diet is a promising non-invasive option to reduce size.
Agreed, @Jennifer_Lewis_Beach_Living! I really wish it was talked about more. When I went to the FDRS conference in April (www.fatdisorders.org/) there was much more discussion about surgery than on nutrition. Keto has been like magic for me after nothing else worked ❤❤
@@mgn1621you could try doing a food sensitivity test and then do an elimination of any foods that show up. This is one of the things I find as a clinical nutritionist (who also has lipedema and lymphedema). Good luck and don’t give up!
I can't go keto for a variety of medical reasons. Neither can I go vegetarian or vegan either. My neurologist, endocrinologist, and psychiatrist have highly advised against me going keto in the future due to how it has affected me in the past. I got extremely bad migraines when I went keto, along with when I went vegetarian. Both diets lasted three months. I have to prevent migraines as much as possible because I suffer from a medical condition that causes my migraines to (I'm not even exaggerating) LITERALLY be life threatening. I also cannot go on the Mediterranean diet because I am required to eat a wide variety of plants and meats that wouldn't be available on the Mediterranean diet. Does anyone know what else I can do to shrink my lipedema fat cells? I really don't want to get surgery. But if I have to, then I will.
7:37 I have recently been diagnosed with this condition by my podiatrist of all things. When I told my primary care Dr she just shook her head yes. She had never told me this. I am seeing a Lymphatic specialist November first for the first time and hoping to get some answers and help. It is very hard to get around when your legs are so swollen. I am glad I found your channel and hope to see more. Thank you.
I'm so happy I came across your channel,I'm in the exact same position you were before you lost your weight.I did a food tolerance test and found out that I was not tolerant to any dairy.Im excited to start this journey with these tools .I'm not even considering surgery. So hopefully this helps.Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🌹
The keto eating plan has drastically improved my lipedema. I probably need to give up dairy, but I love cheese so much. I don’t think I would ever give up cheese or eggs unless they caused me a severe issue. My go-to meal is an omelette with cheese and some kind of meat. I have lost about 80 pounds and kept it off for over 5 years. I need to lose more weight, but I am reasonably happy with my current situation. Doctors definitely don’t have all the answers-especially when it comes to weight loss!!! BYW, I used to be borderline for Type 2 diabetes but the ketogenic eating and weight loss thankfully ended this problem. Congratulations on your success with Keto!!!
You’ve encouraged me! I’m new to lymphedema/ lipedema diagnoses but have struggled most of my life w/ the heavy legs and obesity. Now, @ age 65 I’m praying to “tackle “ this and live a quality life. Thank you for your efforts to inform and encourage us!
I'm so glad you're here, Margaret! There is definitely hope. When I started out I never imagined I'd make this sort of progress or *ever* feel this good in my body. It's a lot of work, but you're worth it. Keep us posted on your progress 💕
I do keto with lo carb and that works for me. I don’t need sugar because I don’t have a sweet tooth but I do eat some fruits and make my own whip cream. However, diet alone is not the answer. Along with my diet I have a vibration plate, walk, and am jogging laps in pool for one hr. The combination of all this has contoured my body immensely. The scale says little. But I feel fabulous! I’m 67 and when I started to add the pool workout I finally started to lose weight and inches. It is hard not having bread which I love but there is Ezekiel bread but I feel my health is so much better this yr than ever before.
This is a BOMBSHELL!! Ever since puberty I have struggled with packsaddle thighs and large calves. Before I was a rake. Through my 4 pregnancies Mu weight fluctuated. But no matter how much weight I lost (which would easily come off the waist up) my bottom half would always be two sizes bigger. And always the large dimpled outer thighs. Over the years it’s been frustrating to have to buy a larger size pants to fit my bum and thighs only for it to absolutely swim on my waist. As a nearly 55 yr old who is now in menopause this gives me hope. I’ve lost 20+ kgs over the last year simply going sugar free. I’ve dropped two, nearly 3 sizes. My bottoms size 18 versus 14/16 tops. Sigh! And I always thought I was just a classic PEAR SHAPE. But after watching a few videos the penny has dropped. I even suspect my two daughters in their 20s may have it. They are both size 12-14 but their legs a bigger and fluidy looking. Sorry for the long comment but I am sooo EXCITED to find this info. 🇦🇺
@thebrunts1939 welcome to the club! Knowledge is power! Isn't it amazing how learning that one little word changes... everything? It seems to run in families so it is very possible that your daughters have it too. The good news is that if they start some conservative treatments now they can help keep it under control. You're already on a great path with going sugar free. So glad you found us!

I’ve struggled so much with this my arms and legs have lipedema. I’ve had terrible body image issues for such a long time from drug abuse to eating disorders. Thank you for making this video and for sharing your journey, you give me hope.
I met my adult children in Punta Cana for Xmas. I cannot tell you how horrible I felt wearing a bathing suit, and a bathing suit is worn daily in these places. I wore cover-ups, but every time I had to walk to get into the pool I was horrified. I am so embarrassed of my body. I could just cry.
I’m in the same boat. Been so awkward and struggling for years with self conscious body image & wondered why as I’ve tried to lose weight nd excess fat We always hav pools around us and I love the water . When I’m in I don’t want to get out but being self conscious with Lipedema makes it difficult to even get into the water. I wish there was a simpler way out as it is so frustrating….hit we keep trying🙌🏼💕
Hi I have just recently been diagnosed with lymphedema, and I accidently saw a pic of a lady in her underwear on lipidema site. I was shocked out right, that was definitely my look alike. I cried , to day I am 70. And for the past 60 years I have only heard u must eat only boiled food, eat less, move more. Was ridiculed by ppl, given stares. I have just started the treatment for lymphedema , antibiotics and compression wraps. I am 320 lbs. And I am.miserable. I did the keto diet, and had lost almost 40 lbs, a few yrs back. Then things happened, and I piled on all the weight and more. Those of you who are doing keto, can you roughly just tell me what u eat in a day. And if u do intermittent fasting. This is just so that I know I am on right track Please help. I had given up all hope, till I came across this video. Thank you for bringing back cheer in my life. Please, please do guide all of us who are in misery.
Hi, Sulabha, and welcome! Congratulations on starting your journey and starting to find answers. I was shamed about my weight for most of my life and understand how much it breaks you down. I'm planning to do more videos about nutrition, but my rule of thumb is less than 20g total carbs a day. I eat primarily meat and try to limit my dairy because I find it gives me inflammation. There are a lot of ways to make salads hearty and satisfying and I'm also a big fan of things like steak or a hamburger without the bun. Good luck and stay tuned. There is so much to be hopeful for now that you've started!
@@sturdywoman Thank you for your reply. I was waiting eagerly for ur reply. I have started doing keto again. And plan to fast 3 days a week. When the wraps are tied I find it difficult to walk. All these days maybe 3 mnths past I could not wear shoes, I am hoping to wear them and start going for short walks initially outside the house. The antibiotics have stopped. I wish courage for all of those suffering like I am. I thank Sturdy woman for her encouragement.
I'm hope keto goes well for you, Sulabha! Be gentle with yourself as you transition - you'll know when you are ready to fast. It will be so much easier once you're fully a fat-burner because you won't have cravings and as many hunger pangs. Have you thought about using a vibration plate to get things moving when you can't walk? There is some pretty good research on them and I like to use mine for 10-15 minutes when my legs feel heavy but I can't get out. Here's one study with lipedema patients: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29847188/
@@sturdywoman Sturdy woman. I feel I can walk, but not with the wraps. Oh let me clarify. I use canes to walk, and a rollator. I got a roll-top for myself because I have osteoarthritis. And then the weight was making my knees painful. I hate to tell you , but I also have a bad low back, do that raising of legs like way you showed on the wedge is next to impossible for me. That is a set back. Coz I do know elevation helps. One step at a time. One day at a time, and just be happy for the positive results for that day. I will definitely watch the link you sent me. Vibrator for movement I have not used ever . Maybe a couple of mnths later I could try out one. .
You got this Sulabha! Focus on what you *can* do to help yourself and the rest will come in due time. I can tell you are investing in yourself and doing anything you can. Keep it up
I'm REALLY at a loss for words right now. ALL MY LIFE (49yrs) I have struggled with excessively large calves and tried everything to lose weight including bariatric surgery. Recently as I was looking at my legs since the weight loss I was still confused. Then I felt moved by God to start looking into lymphatic information. With a very short search my prayers have been answered 🙏🏾 I love keto but had not been consistent. To know that this diet helps this condition is great news! THANK YOU💕

@4mykidslove600 I totally understand. I cried too because I know my life would've been so much different had I knew and understood this when I was an adolescent. Sometimes I feel trapped in this body and think about how unfair it is. But then I have to count my blessings. God is still good.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I was diagnosed in '16. And since diagnosis, have gained 50 + lbs. I now have lymphedema too. Its very frustrating and even though I have a great DO, we all know the story, keep your body moving and live a healthy life style...but the best you can do is maintain. Its a lonely journey, most people don't understand so again thank you for sharing. Keto is worth some thought. I have multiple food allergies and digestive issues too, eating is complicated.
I am just now embarking on basically a ketovore style of eating and will likely head more towards carnivore. I am 380 and 67 and if I don't do it now, I won't and I don't want to be this way. Thank you for the video and encouragement...
Thanks to your you tube. I started investigating my large leg problem. My husband hunted me bout being fat, even though I had lost 32 lbs in two hears. Because of you I found a therapist, the right compression tights. She put me on a good exercise routine and we asked about the Ketogenic diet. I am trying to go GF . I may try to exclude dairy . I have studied carnivore but I only lasted 2months . I found I feel better with raw vegetables and a few fruits like berries. With help I think I can maintain my lipedema and maybe even loose more weight overall.
I think lipedema has a relationship with lymphedema. I recently discovered that some lymphatic issues can be caused by a parasitic infection of the lymph. In North America, we don't worry about this much and doctors don't even give it a thought but it may be an avenue someone may want to investigate for themselves, especially if you have been to warmer tropical or subtropical places. The type of parasite that can cause this is a nematode. Gross, but could be a key for some. You may have to investigate with an online doctor though as most US doctors wouldn't even entertain the idea to try an antiparasitic.
Thank you for posting this! I had a parasite (round worm) about 4 years ago from an undercooked steak...and have never been the same since. I think a another parasite cleanse is in order. Have a wonderful day today. ❤
This gives me hope. I just self diagnosed today and I was freaking out bc my initial search says you cant lose the lipedema fat. I knew I had to come on youtube and look for real ppl experiences.
I have been intermittent fasting and eating low carbs for 2 weeks now and my legs feel so much better. My son and husband noticed a reduction in the swelling in my legs and I have almost no pain at night. I've lost 4lbs but the non scale success is just as rewarding. There is hope for us and it doesn't have to be surgical. I'm grateful for that option but I do believe in some cases we can get lipedema under control without it.
Great channel! I was diagnosed with stage 3 lipedema and secondary lymphodema last year. I’m getting liposuction next year but will try my hardest with a keto diet first.
I’m not a woman but I’ve been struggling with “thick thighs” for a few years now. The diagnosis was a surprise because I’m Latino and always had legs and butt. I realized when I caught a side view in the mirror I was looking a little flat something isn’t right. Now I understand why my size stays the same but the pants I can fit change day to day depending on how thick my thighs happen to be. Thanks for the advice, I had no idea food sensitivity tests were that readily available and I can definitely do keto again and be fine with those desserts I learned to make with low to no carbs.
Hi Chelsea Bangs. It's it a surprise when you realize there is a reason your body is the way it is?! Glad it sounds like you already know how to do keto and enjoy life on it. Weight loss aside, I find it gives me great relief from swelling, brain fog, and low energy. Thanks to my food sensitivity test I eliminated dairy and eggs and find I feel a lot better without them. I think they are a trigger for many people! Let us know how everything goes :)
Impossible to give up dairy and eggs if you're vegetarian! After 30 years of veggie I suddenly started with the swollen feet and ankles, baggy knees, bingo wings and generally saggy. Over several years have blamed fat, cellulite, water retention, muscle loss, you name it. I don't have any pain as such, but the muscle loss has made me very achy all over with really weak legs. I have been keto or low carb for many years (with the occasional cheating phase) and have lost some weight, but it does come back and each time it is more difficult to lose. The last three years I have been doing water fasting - OMAD doesn't do much for me as I don't eat much anyway. I find five days of water fasting makes me lose 7lbs. Every time. Have done 7 days a couple of times and lost 10lbs. Now desperately trying to do longer as I really need to lose a couple of stones at least. It's not easy, but once you start it's not as bad as it sounds and I always feel so much better in every way!
I think I am probably a more difficult case. At my worst I was 316. I have lost 86 lbs. It took over a yr, but I am 70, slow due to pain in my legs & ft, & quite sedentary. I started with low carb, with poor results. I am also diabetic. I switched to keto & discovered that it takes a Herculean effort to get into ketosis. I literally had to fast for 3 days to get those urine sticks to change color. It was like I was fat for so long my body forgot how to burn my own fat. At least when you test you know if you are are burning fat or not. I learned about myself that I manage to do very well on a very tiny amount of food. No wonder I did badly on so many diets. After a while keto did not work anymore. I switched to carnivore & even though the scale barely moved I can now wear clothes I haven’t worn since 2008. It has helped the fluid problem in my legs tremendously, that has really helped to decrease the pain. I now eat primarily carnivore with a little cucumber or celery as a treat. One day I went a little crazy & mixed half a cup of condensed mushroom soup with my hamburger that I eat all the time. By the next day I had put on 6 lbs. Food intolerances are real. If you eat it you are going to pay. It will take several days of being miserable to get back to normal. I have to watch food additives like a hawk. I think maltodextrin , a food additive is the culprit. I don’t eat deli meat, sausage, hot dogs, any meat with an added ingredient is out for me. I also pretty much stick to one meal a day. They are still thick, lumpy, bumpy, ugly legs but they don’t hurt nearly so bad as before. I still have 100 lbs to lose. When you don ‘t hurt as bad you can be more active, that is coming next. Good luck.
It's so unfair that some of us have bodies that fight against us all the way! I too have to eat a tiny amount of food to lose weight or even to maintain it. When I see very slim people wolfing down large portions of delicious food I'm astounded! Good luck with your continued weight loss and health journey x
Since I wrote my first reply, I have now lost 92 lb. This going much more slowly now. Went off diet over the holidays & my calves swelled like watermelon’s. My body just can’t handle the carbs & the pain from inflammation came back too. It is literally too painful to eat that stuff. I know what I have to do. All of you will have to decide for yourself. Good luck with it & God bless you all.
@@jtedandlindasimpson7044I hear you about the pain. I'm absolutely desperate at this point. I've been on Keto for 3 weeks and lost 10 lbs. Geez, 90 more to go, but I'll do whatever I must to be able to walk without this excruciating pain. I have MS and Fibromyalgia already. Lipedema pain is worse than anything I've experienced. I'm going to cut out dairy and go heavy on carnivore.

@@njjn the surgeon has me on a list and I am about 114 out of 150 patients...it is annoying because he keeps delaying it...says my legs are too big, when I get them down, then he hems and haws...his secretary said I should get surgery sometime in 2025
@@loriegonta3622 I had a knee replacement 7 years ago, not knowing I had lipodema. I had to have several proceedures and a full revision as they could not figure out why my knee was getting worse. Inflammation, pain, swelling, not able to bend knee, and not being able to do normal things..going for a walk, getting in and out of a car etc. I have to be on guard constantly, its exhausting. If I had to do it over, I would wait until lipodema was better. My surgeons never even considered such a thing would affect my knee.
In February I started Keto at a weight of 300lbs, Its August and i've lost 75lbs. It's not as much as i'd like but i've lost 1.5 inches around the calves. It's slow but its steady and going down which hasn't happened on previous diets.
Thank you for your videos. I just ordered a food allergy test from Amazon. I have never been diagnosed with Lipidema but have often wondered. My legs are so big. This is the beginning of my journey. Thank you.
@anncobb6918 welcome to the sisterhood! You found your people and knowing the world "lipedema" is the first step is starting to heal. This video on diagnosing lipedema might be helpful ruclips.net/video/T7NvrgLLlXY/видео.htmlsi=3-g8JANMeu-GDT6q Sending big hugs! Let us know how it all goes. I'm guessing you found my food sensitivities video?
I’m so grateful for your channel I’m self diagnosed and want surgery so badly and am frustrated with my body… I have tried keto but i was constantly constipated. I did lose some weight but I’ve decided to modify to a more paleo diet still shooting for low carb, but allowing fibrous fruits and vegetables. My stomach feels better but weight loss has slowed. I had good luck with AIP awhile back but it’s difficult to maintain. still working to figure it out, and meanwhile also wanting to just find anyone to diagnose me so I can at least monitor my conditions (I have PCOS, HS, rosacea, and lipedema- which I believe are all interconnected. I tried once making an appointment at an endocrinologist and they denied seeing me and I had to repeat myself when I said lipedema as if they never heard of it. If anyone knows anyone in the state of Wisconsin with some knowledge of lipedema I would appreciate it!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Yes, doctors can be hard to find 😔 I have another video where I talk about that a little bit and recommend some resources to take to a doctor ruclips.net/video/R1GwreFPN9E/видео.html A vein specialist is most likely to understand lymphatic disorders, but if you find someone kind and open minded you can take the learning journey together. Good luck 💕
Congratulations, Alex! That's great to hear. What has been working best for you? I hope that in addition to losing inches, you are also feeling better too! I found my energy improved and my brain fog subsided. Hopefully, doctors will soon stop telling people there is no hope
This is just personal experience but over the last 5 months I’ve been able to lose 14.5 kg (32lbs) after struggling with my weight since my teens, I’m 60. The difference has been that I started seeing an endocrinologist for my Hashimoto’s. She diagnosed insulin resistance and believes I have been over producing insulin for many years possibly since puberty. (2 of my children who are in their 20’s have also been diagnosed with insulin resistance and they were both really athletic kids). I am now taking Metformin and the dietary strategies I’ve previously had no success with are now working. The only thing I’ve really changed is taking bread out of the equation. I think my diet is fairly ketogenic as I am not eating pasta or rice either and I follow an 18:6 IF regime. I don’t know if I will eventually lose or reduce the lipodema fat BUT my legs are less swollen and the lipodema fat is much softer. I am feeling optimistic about my weight for the first time in many years. I have never been formally diagnosed with lipodema, just told by massage therapists that they think I have it, but my daughter has (by the only medical facility in NSW that seems to recognise it.)
Hey, i lost about 25KG. I am/was late stage 2. Losing weight shows up Lipoedema even more. I had surgery in February and due for surgery again in 10 days
i am 28 years old and just recently been diagnosed with stage 1 lipedema. to be honest this diagnose scares the shit out of me because i had gained just so much weight withing 2 years. i was always super sportive, i was an athlete in judo, kickboxing and even american football. and boom all of a sudden my body turns agaisnt me and i cant even lift my own as* off the ground to do a proper plank. - i hope to see more videos of you that are sending these empathetic messages to people who struggle, and motivate to try find out what my body needs and then act accordingly. - without having spent too much attention to my diet before, thinking about it now, i did n fact notice, that when i ate meatless dishes for too long a period of time, i felt teeeerrible. i do love vegetable based meals but i do need a lot of lean meat in my diet to get the energy i need. ive always felt like i had the tendency (even as a child) to eat less of the main dishes in starches, and more of the vegetable and protein based foods. so thank you for sharing your journey and i hope my english wasnt too bad. greetings and love from Germany!
Your English is perfect❣️ I know you weren’t asking me, but I was reading your comment & wanted to let you know your English is beautiful. All the best to you. We’re in this struggle together. 🙏🏼
Not officially diagnosed yet, but so sure Im a lippy lady. I think dairy may also be my issue and i think i will try cuttinf out dairy for the next couple months and see what happens!
Nice that the ketogenic diet works for so many people, but it is not for everyone. I was keto for 10 months and lost a grand total of 12 pounds. This was an average loss of a pound and a few ounces a month (and no, I did not cheat). About halfway into the diet, I noticed I was losing a lot of hair, but did a good job ignoring it. It wasn't until my hair stylist washed my hair and was aghast at how much of my hair was in the sink that I was forced to face reality. She recommended I see a doctor. When I got home, I immediately went online to see if there was a connection between being on the keto diet and hair loss. Bam! I immediately pulled up an article that said while rare, hair loss does happen to some people on the keto diet. Since I have been blessed with better than average hair, I decided to jettison the keto diet and just eat "everything in moderation" as St. Paul advised. Did I gain the 12 pounds back? Oh yeah. But my hair stopped falling out and is thick and glossy once again. In my case, I suspect it has something to do with potassium levels which are high in bananas and potatoes but are forbidden on the keto diet. I am just grateful I was slender while I was young. Entering menopause was like pulling a rip cord on an inflatable. It is what it is.
I got potassium through Mortons lite salt, avocados, mushrooms, tomatoes and you can always take a potassium supplement if need be but must be careful of how much.
Every method of weight loss causes hair loss. My Dr has told me the only way to control Lipedema is to stay on a keto diet for the remainder of my life and that the "eating in moderation" is just going to cause the fat to accumulate more and more. You may want to find another Dr for a second opinion.
Hi @phoebeintheforst! Thanks for sharing this. I apologize it took me a few weeks to get back to you. I've always been a heavy hair shedder, but I can't say keto has made it worse. What you are saying can definitely happen, though. Did you know avocados actually have more potassium than bananas? I had a similar concern but just added guacamole to my diet (far from a hardship!). I also use electrolytes that a little bit of potassium (amzn.to/44iQBYK). You do have to be careful about supplementing potassium, though, as others note. You can get too much, which is one reason it isn't usually in multivitamins. Have you ever used collagen? I started taking it a few years ago to see if it would help my skin and was thrilled to see hair actually growing back. Whatever you've decided to do, I hope you are feeling good ♥♥
@@corascott5874 I'm really late, but I just wanted to chime in and say I agree. Any stress to the body (mental or physical) could cause hair loss, and apparently it usually happens about 2-3 months afterwards. I've quit sugar and carbs completely twice now, and I would definitely say the sugar withdrawal is a bit of a shock for the body. I think it's important to remember that the body will focus on healing first, and that this might result in hair getting neglected for a while. In most cases I know of, at least from people on the carnivore diet (which is a little more extreme than keto), it begins to grow back in fairly quickly.
try organ meats, oysters and sardines if you want to try keto again. I had the worst hair loss of my life until I added in liver and started some desiccated beef spleen supplements…then I had the most gorgeous hair of my life, since I was a child. I've had hair loss starting in high school when I did the low fat diet. my hair was so great…until I started having more sugars and starch again, so I think I'm needed to go back to a very low carb diet again. it's been just a learn as I go thing.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was kind of losing hope, because everybody says that only surgery can help and this video is just like a light entering into my energy and into my life. Now I know I can do it and now I know it is possible. You can't imagine the amount of hope and happiness you gave me with this video. May the Universe bless you, may the Universe bless us all. Keep up girls, everything is possible! ❤
@jessicalobomusica thank you!! Finding out what works for your body is a process but you might find some helpful tips in my Conservative Care playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLGrmXtIzhSGJ8yMVrvzsS0IlDdZisLuKS
I worried about nutrition too. I did keto, but it seemed to stop working then went to carnivore with an occasional veggie as a treat. I have been on it a yr & a half. Have had all my labs done twice they are the best they have ever been. All my other health issues have improved tremendously. I have not noticed any kind of issues related to eating this way except boredom. It is not easy, but once you purge the sugar & carbs that turn to sugar out of your system you will feel a lot better. I would go wks 4-6 wks at a time with no wt loss at all & then lose like 6-8 lbs in a wk. It was like my body was refusing to give up the fat. Don’t give up, just try tweaking things a little to see what works with yours. For me sugar & grains are a absolute no.
Keto (minus dairy and eggs) has worked for me too. As soon as I add even a smidge of dairy I puff right up again. I also use daily light slow walking and vibration.
I first started keto in Aug 2018 and lost 25 lbs initially. Then nothing more. By Dec of 2020 I started carnivore I have lost 9 or 12 lbs several times . But each time I would get excited and then bam over night the weight suddenly reappears. I continue to stay mostly carnivore because I feel better eating that way. I recently tried higher fat that too initially seemed to work down 9 lbs then over night the weight comes back. Fyi you can make you own ghee at home. There are probably utubes for that as well.
Hi Gaye! I used to have "bam" overnight weight gain too. My weight could fluctuate as much as ten pounds from day-to-day! Be gentle with yourself and remember there is no logical way it can be fat. Our lipedema bodies can be so funny about fluid and swelling. Have you explored any possible food sensitivities that could be stalling progress? Logging what you eat for a week or two might help get some clues
@@coryandlindsaysommise7008 This is such a good question! I have to admit when I saw I was sensitive to dairy I had a little melt down because it was such a big part of my keto - heavy cream, cheese, yogurt, butter, the good stuff. I replaced the cream in my coffee with almond milk (I like Malk) and started making my own coconut yogurt. Yep, you read the right. It's really easy! I should make a video about how to make yogurt. I swapped my cheese crisps for pork rinds which are great with guacamole. I generally enjoy a lot of meat and low carb veggies like broccoli or asparagus. I blogged about my non-dairy transition last year if you are curious to read more: sturdywoman.blog/category/food/ There are also a lot of great recipes on Diet Doctor that can be made without dairy so check them out if you haven't. It's free!
Hi! I tried keto but whenever I eat meat I feel hungrier every time. Now I am eating heavily dark green leafy things, fruits and vegetables. I even eat potato, beets, carrots etc... and even rice! I feel fuller, more energetic, less depressive. I eat an egg everyday, trying to consume less dairy but I eat goat cheeses or aged cheeses. I feel much better. I am losing weight slowly but steady. I couldn't keep myself away from ayran (it is a yogurt drink) yesterday and immediately felt bloated, puffier and cranky. So I know that cow's milk is not good for me. This is my current journey. I don't have a diagnosis but I believe that I have lipedema. Also I am hypermobile. I believe I will manage this.
Hi and Thank you! Keto works so well for me too. I am reading a lot about Lipedema dietary recommendations and of course Keto is one but I’m also seeing whole grains and fruit (more than just a few berries that are usually involved in Keto… Wondering if when you say you do Keto are you just doing low carb or are you making sure you strictly are stay in Ketosis ? I’m leaning towards doing a combo of both recommendation Keto and heavy on the plant based protein but wondered if you have done better maintaining by using actual Ketosis.
Hi, I only found your channel a week ago and it was like finding gold. So I am still catching up. Before I knew it was Lipedema I knew I had to make changes. I had started on the Keto Diet but then Jan popped up as Carnivore month so I am trying that. I had recently started with Guasha for my face and discovered there is a large Guasha for the legs and arms, so I have begun with that while showering. I also bought a cupping kit from Amazon. I have just begun these things, so if there is even a tiny improvement at the end of Jan. I will let you know. Thank you for all the information and support you provide.
@cathys.1284 pretty cool, right? I have a more recent video all about food sensitivities that might also be helpful ruclips.net/video/7q-RczR23RM/видео.html I hope it goes well!
What bothers me is the lack of distinction between lipoderm 4:51 a, sagging skin and cellulite. But I feel happy because I finally heard someone say, treatment without liposuction, only with diet and exercise of course. 😊
@HajLhaj-j6m this video might be helpful! ruclips.net/video/T7NvrgLLlXY/видео.htmlsi=brZgP-hrIMfonrco Thanks for watching! It isn't all just diet and exercise. Compression, vibration, and other things have been helpful to control swelling and keep my lymph moving. I know that I have lipedema because I have experienced the symptoms that have been talked about .But I am going to my doctor later this month. I did lose weight, but then gained it back very rapidly, and I was eating alot. I just want to talk about when I tried a GLP2. I did not realize it for a while but I was feeling really bad. Excessive sweating, weakness and depression and just a general awful feeling. I did not stay on it long enough to lose a substantial amount of weight or even to find out if it would work on someone with lipedema. I would like to hear others experiences with GLP2, lipedema and weight loss.
I lost 150 pounds I lost weight on Keto but I nearly died being on it for a year and a half. It was so rough on my bowels and for my hair. I was losing hair by the hands full. I left the diet and gained some weight back but the lymphedema has been more controllable, less sores and manageable for me.
I have Lipedema. I started a Keto diet in January and am so far 13# down. The most amazing thing is my pain in both legs is totally gone. I am able to walk for exercise again at a good pace without pain. The information I have read states that this is because the high fat low carb diet lowers body inflammation. I will be on Keto for life.
I'm so glad it's giving you relief, Carole! And thank you for pointing out the other benefits of keto for us. The weight loss was definitely just a bonus for me! The energy and... lightness... I feel are amazing. Pre-keto I would have said I didn't have any pain, but in reality it had just always been there so I thought it was normal. Glad to meet a fellow keto-lifer ❤
Hello-I’m just starting this journey, realizing I most likely have this condition. A couple of years ago I was able to lose about 60 pounds with Weight Watchers and intermittent fasting. While my thighs remained thick with the hardened fat globules, they did decrease some! As far as embracing Keto, I don’t feel I can do it fully. Like you, I am a bit dairy sensitive and full fat foods are just too rich for my system. I am going to try a more South Beach-type approach and see how it goes.
Great idea! Other people have been asking about that too. I'm traveling again but will definitely do that for you when things settle back down in a few weeks. ❤
Hi Rebekah, These lipedema videos started coming through my feed when I was interested in keto. Hadn’t heard of this condition before but, all makes sense now. I look like my grandma and aunts. This came to a great crescendo for me last spring, as I decided I wasn’t going to be fat any more. I’ve lost approximately 40-46 lbs since trying to practice keto. I’m curious as to whether you had the fat pillows hanging on the insides of your knees. My upper body is smaller but, the fat pillows are still there and I hate them with a passion. I’ve taken your advice with the compression and today ordered the collagen. A doctor I went to has ordered lots of allergy blood tests. Still waiting.I was very thin until menopause and wasn’t seeing the changes until I was diagnosed with other health issues. Hoping for your reply.
Hi there the only yogurt I use is plain Greek yogurt no fat and kefir. No sugars except for some fruits and dark chocolate. Why you say no dairy, were you using all dairy?thanks
@toutounoulash I don't do dairy because I realized I have a sensitivity that gives me swelling and inflammation. But some people have no problem! Check out my video on food sensitivities for more info: ruclips.net/video/7q-RczR23RM/видео.html
Hi 👋🏼 I am down from a size 22 to a size 14/16 pants and 3x tops to 2x tops. My fat is lingering in my lymphatic system, but it’s moving. I have noticed over the past three years going from 265 to 238 in weight. No sugar, no wheat, no soy, I listen to a lot of information, no doctor has helped me with this issue as they are clueless about diet, recommended a lap band only to get rejected because I never overate…its all about insulin resistance, I was diagnosed with that at least.
Once I got over 130 lbs I have had more weight problems. I want to know what to do about this problem. And now my problem with my stomach it looks like I'm pregnant from the side of me. I use to be really thin & that was the only time my legs were just right. I hate this because I can't wear narrow legged pants. Once I wound up on psychiatric medication. Then had radio active iodine done to my thyroid. It has been more difficult to lose weight. My mother use to have the problem as well.
Took me forever to find out I had lipedema. I have lymphodema also. Green keto , small amounts of fish and beans , very very small added not all the time no dairy no red meat no sugar no oil and no salt. Emphasis veg and fruit. Rice diet works also.
I was diagnosed last week, and feel overwhelmed about all this. I don't even know how to start a keto diet. The good thing is that I am not overweight; my fat is just is distributed disproportionately to my thighs only. How can you do a dairy free on keto when a lot of recipes require heavy cream and eggs?
My legs are soooo heavy. I've lost 80+pounds, but still 230 pounds. I'm needing knee replacement, and was given exercises . Oh, man, lifting my legs is so incredibly hard. I need the encouragement that I'll be able to lose weight in my legs especially, but also my arms. I'm amazed that you showed your legs, especially in the red light belt video. I would never show mine. Hopefully someday
@sharonevers8100 stick with it! It sounds like you are doing great. 80+ pounds?! Wow! Are you doing any nutritional interventions? Many of us find that changing how we eat helps relieve some of the pain. Sending big hugs to help keep you going
I think I have always thought I might have lipedema. There are no doctors in my area to find out. I love keto, i got to my lowest weight. Only 1 inch lost in calves. Oh please oh please give me guidence
What was the name of the test that you took to test food sensitivities, and how did you get it? Also, what was the price of the test, and how long did it take to get your results back?
Hi Connie! I'm glad you have found something that is working for you. On keto it's really important to get enough fat and protein to keep you full and salt/electrolytes go a long way to keeping you feeling good. There's a lot to be said for doing any way of eating that reduces inflammation and eliminates things you are sensitive to. Keep up the good work 💕
I have no problem losing weigt but weight loss always stop when the lipedema is left and no diet has shrinkt it. But swelling can be helped with compression and lymfatic massage. My big help and savier was my 2 surgeries, would gladly do them again.
You also gave me hope. Thank you! Did you also do intermittent fasting and a certain amount of protein and fat? Please advice, I need to lose 60kg. I am on keto since 2019 and only lost in beginning. Will get an allergy test done. So very frustrated.
Hi @lipedemalisa! Thanks for watching. Your doctor can certainly help do allergy testing (and likely your insurance would pay for it) but the one I used was an at-home test ( amzn.to/3OfV5u2 ). I took it near the beginning of COVID and it was worth the cost to not have to leave the house and be weighed/shamed at the doctor. Keep in mind, though, it isn't as accurate as what your doctor would do and should be seen more as suggestions or clues. I took the information and tested out the results with elimination diets. Try to commit to at least a month to fully heal your body and see if taking out a certain food helps - a few days or a week isn't enough. You can read more about my experience cutting out dairy on my blog: sturdywoman.blog/tag/non-dairy/ ❤❤❤
One you can do is to cut out all foods that you are suspecting that you are allergic to for ten days. So for ten days, no dairy, fish eggs, wheat, or grains etc..... After ten days reintroduce ONE food. If your heart rate increases, you have an upset stomach or any kind of allergic reaction there's your answer. Inflammation raises your heart rate and also can cause a small fever. A lot of people have combination allergies too. Dairy may be okay. But combined with wheat might cause and action. I have issue with tomatoes. I also don't seem to like kale or broccoli. Just the way it is.
@sibraelx7267 there is a lot more information on what I do in my Keto playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLGrmXtIzhSGLhEfRUCj_A45MG3A_rGIxO I definitely do a protein-heavy diet and some women have found carnivore is what it takes to get results. All of us our different so it takes some experimenting to figure out what works best for each of us
So, is there EVER a time you eat sugar? If so, is there a plan or system for when you chose to eat sugar? From a person who can't deal with the idea of never having chocolate cake again.
I changed doctors and my new GP noticed my kidney function had deteriorated somewhat. I’ve had to drastically lower salt and sugar consumption to almost zero and radically bump up water intake. I already knew I was lactose intolerant. I have lost weight but I’ve really noticed a change in my hip and arm size. Also try to change to grass fed meat. Grain fed animals omega 3 fatty acids change to omega 6 which is not healthy. (Based on scientific research)
I’m allergic to nuts and dairy. And also extremely intolerant of red meat. So I’ve been eating more chicken (grilled or baked) and fish (grilled or baked) as well as more vegetables and dark leafy greens which has definitely been helping me lose weight and keep it off.
It sounds like you have a good plan going, Amanda! I hope you are also feeling better. I've been eating a lot more chicken lately too, what with the price of steaks going up 😆 and I roast a pan of brussel sprouts a few times a week just to have on hand. Yum! Stick with it❤
In the future you could try getting raw milk, pasture raised eggs fed organic vegetarian feed, ghee, making milk kefir, raw yogurt. Greek full fat organic yogurt. Duck eggs some do a lot better on those then chicken eggs.
I’m 95% carnivore and have lost 20 lbs in 3 months. It’s not coming off nearly as fast as I’d wanted. I think the dairy may be causing me trouble as well, because the last few days when I’ve eaten cheese and cottage cheese, I’ve had gas afterwards. Sorry, tmi! This is saddening though because I love dairy! Did you have to cut it all out completely? What about butter?
Hi Whitni! Good question and congratulations on three months of near carnivore. Stick with it - it takes time for the body to heal. Last year I did cut out 100% of dairy for almost the entire year. I've only recently started adding a little bit back in (just because it makes me happy) but I'm not having anywhere close to my previous levels. Two things that helped my transition were learning how to make my own coconut yogurt (it's easy I promise!) and buying a milk frother/steamer for the non-dairy milk I use in my morning coffee. For butter, a nice alternative with lower casein is ghee, but I'm also a big fan of bacon grease for cooking ;) I can definitely tell my swelling is worse when I have dairy so, like everything, it's a balance.
@@sturdywoman Thank you for your quick reply! I do love bacon grease too! I render my own lard (and tallow too) from pigs and beef we butchered last year. I use it all the time since I’m always cooking with my cast iron skillets. I have heard of ghee but have never tried it. I will have to try that soon!
@@whitninapier9400 I'm so jealous you can render your own lard/tallow and have access to such fresh meat! That certainly makes carnivore more enjoyable. Ghee doesn't require refrigeration so look for it on the shelves near the other oil. Let me know what you think (and how you do) if you try it. It has a buttery taste but is a little nuttier. 💕
Great video, thank you! I have been looking into the 'Eat right for your blood type' diet, which basically says that only Blood type O can eat meat without inflammation occurring. Given that a high meat diet is working for you, I am wondering what is your blood type?
Hi @Diane-jq4or! I'm not familiar with that diet, but you are right that I am O. I think that's the most common type, though, right? Hope that whatever you are doing it working for you ♥
@@sturdywoman Thanks so much! That is really interesting. I am blood type A, and, according to the blood type diet, am not supposed to eat meat as it will cause inflammation. Indeed, whenever I have gone keto based around meat I swell. Hence my question to you, because I was keen to find out if you were in fact NOT type O but that the keto-meat diet was still working for you, which would have debunked blood type diet. Hmmm, maybe the blood type diet has some validity.
For a person who loves meat, but not eating as much because of the changes that are going on in the market with it (now Lab-grown meat), it's hard because of the hungry feeling. Also, is this diet good for people who has high cholesterol?
I have a question... since losing weight on my legs I have been getting pain in my legs. Before I knew I suffered from L I also had pain and swollen legs, but now that I am on low carb diet and wear compression leggings and my legs are shrinking very slowly.... I am getting different pains.... for example my knee (which was damaged before) is now getting really painful. It almost feels like the fat and fluid around it, is no longer holding it up and now that it is "free" it cant support itself. So now I have to wear a support bandage for that knee (now and again) I also have pain in my heel and foot area... just so strange. I also wanted to ask you guys... do you have parts of your leg that are numb? I have a part on my bad leg (lipedema is worse on my left leg) that is knobbly and numb. Since I have been on my diet change, I have also been messaging this part (as well as the rest of my body) and I have been going over it with a vibrating massage device. This seems to have broken up the knobbly bits quite a bit, but the numbness remains. But since loosing the "good" fat, I can really feel the knobbly bits along the outside of my lower leg and how numb it is. Has anyone experienced something like this? Thanks for reading and responding!
I was hoping this would recommend some sort of exercise I've not thought of or something. Unfortunately, I can't eat meat, due to an undiagnosed stomach/digestive issue. I really feel stuck. My arms and legs hurt so bad. I had just last 100lbs right before the all started. From 260-160. I don't know what triggered this, but the last 2 1/2 years has been miserable. I shot up to 200lbs within a month &1/2, hadn't changed anything in my lifestyle. I've gotten to 185 and am fighting just to keep it there. I wear thigh high compression stocking daily & nightly. My legs have gotten so weak lately. I just feel lost. Well, that and the pain. I dunno.
Hi, Look at RUclips video "Lipedema inflammation triggers and unlocking the keys to lipedema control". I was undiagnosed and unable to work for 25 years. After I saw this video I went OFF cow products and sugar immediately. The pain in my arms is practically gone. Those foods also cause the skin darkening and age spots, and those are lightening. I want to tell you that MASSAGE is also a cure. My worst places of lipedema are Shrinking with self massage!! I have an appointment this month for Quadrivas/Lipedema massage at a physical therapist. Also, to lose weight I am on three types of diet: No cow products or sugar, next, I don't eat for 14 hours in a day, like not eating after 5pm or before 7am, plus, I alternate complex carbohydrates days. Vance Sant says that it confuses your metabolism so it burns, not stores, fat. So on my "white day" I can eat rice, potato, corn, bread, but every other day is my "green day" where I eat more fruits and vegetables, like a chef salad, INSTEAD of white carbs.
I have lipodema stage two. I also have pcos. I have been fasting for the past 7 years but always seems to come back. I have mostly in my knees and lower legs and with age it's looking worse and feeling heavy and swells every evening. I did keto during covid with good results but because I'm not overweight I become really bones on the top. And had a hard time sleeping. I am trying again but wanted to ask if I can eat more non starchy vegetables. I know it should be under 20 carbs but without vegetables I don't feel good. Also I'm a vegetarian so for religious reasons I obstain from meat fish and eggs. So this diet can be a challenge but I know it works. Are you strict with counting vegetable carbs?
I have heard that chicken and pork is inflammatory to lioedema patients but then I've heard red meat is. Can you clarify this for me? Which would starve this lipedema fat that I HATE SOOOO MUCH?
Hi @bhumble3106. Each person is going to have different foods that are inflammatory for their body. I recommend you do some food sensitivity testing (either with your doctor or through one of the at-home tests like this amzn.to/3rlW9nd ) to understand what your body reacts to. Please work with your doctor or a nutritionist to start untangling what does and doesn't work for you. Here are some books you might find helpful amzn.to/3NTseuj or amzn.to/3JWlXNl You will find there is a lot of contradictory information out there and that's because no two bodies are the same. It will take time and effort, but once you start to understand your body and work to support her, you can start feeling better. ❤
I have lost a lot of weight recently. And recently I have also learned about Lipedemia. Based on the images that show what it looks like, and based on my own body in the mirror, my butt and thighs looked just like the 2nd "type", when I was heavier, and like a small verion of that now. And when I say I have lost weight, I was at the high end of overweight but not obese, and I am currently at the very lowest weight I should be for my height, so 80lbs. I will also add that I started noticing the difference in that part of my body when I was in my teens, so that "issue" has been part of my life, before I was heavy. In highschool, I had a Kim Kardashian body, before that show was a thing. I guess my point in mentioning this is I think there is some heriditary predisposition to this condition. My mother's butt and mine where similar.
@mauchkimberly there certainly seems to be! Check out the Lipedema First Look Report for more on other patient's self-report experience with onset, family history, etc. www.lipedema.org/registry-first-look-report There is enough evidence of family history that they are working hard on the genetic side.
How long did it take for you to see results with carnivore. I’ve been keto for a while and carnivore for almost 2 months , no weight loss as yet ,
@@kzp5249 I've done both keto and carnivore, and now I'm ketovore.
So happy for your success. I’m just starting out trying to figure this lipedema thing out and having a difficult time.
Omg! I am so optimistic to find a balance with lipedema and hypothyroidism myself. I hope I do.
So glad to hear you've found something that's working for you 💗
I’m confused about coffee…I was told that coffee is not good for lipedema.
@@sturdywoman I’m confused about the coffee drinking…I was told that coffee is not good for lipedema.
Exactly! So what's the deal with this coffee?
@@kzp5249 I still drink my coffee 2 cups in the morning
Massage is amazing, it can hurt, but it truly helps me
@flufwix yes, the massage seems to totally soften my hard legs and belly
Been on Keto 4 years…..hasn’t helped my legs
@@mgn1621 Maybe you need to go more ketovore which is 10 carbs.
@katerinakalamara5205 you got this!
Don't settle for just enough. Be your best self. Continue to cut back on cheese and dairy fat servings and see what happens!😊
Goats milk cheese?
As this issue is hormonal, have you tried eating only organic eggs & cheese?
You’ve encouraged me! I’m new to lymphedema/ lipedema diagnoses but have struggled most of my life w/ the heavy legs and obesity. Now, @ age 65 I’m praying to “tackle “ this and live a quality life. Thank you for your efforts to inform and encourage us!
I'm so glad you're here, Margaret! There is definitely hope. When I started out I never imagined I'd make this sort of progress or *ever* feel this good in my body. It's a lot of work, but you're worth it. Keep us posted on your progress 💕
This is awesome! How are you getting on? Any updates? Im just starting my journey and trying to soak up as much advice as I can get
Same.. I’m 59… ughh… a fight it is.
Make your own sprouted bread with einkorn grain! Look it up.
Hi
I have just recently been diagnosed with lymphedema, and I accidently saw a pic of a lady in her underwear on lipidema site.
This is just so that I know I am on right track
Please help.

Same here!
Be sure you are getting jet water lipo rather than the normal lipo
All the best with your keto attempt. Hope it works out
I’m not a woman but I’ve been struggling with “thick thighs” for a few years now.
So does food sensitively make you want more to eat?
@@sturdywoman Where did you find the tests ? Thanks.
How many of.those 10 lbs do you gain back?
I truly believe carnivore is the answer! I hope you stick with it.
Is there some kind of test fir diagnosis?
Really love your videos. You make me feel less lonely in this journey as none of my friends know about my lipedema issues. I am just too embarrassed :(
Give yourself time, Cherry! I was diagnosed three years ago and I've only started talking about it more openly within the past year. Take care of yourself and educate yourself, then figure out how to talk to others. You are so not alone. We understand! ❤When you are ready, I do have a video about talking about lipedema: ruclips.net/video/7l5Rlhk-5c0/видео.html
@@sturdywoman Saw my lipedema specialist yesterday and got diagnosed with it. Guess what ….. apparently all the information out there, like anti-inflammatory diet, exercise, etc etc are all wrong. There isn’t sufficient data to support them neither there is money to invest in lipedema. I am beyond furious. Wish I could talk to you direct xx
@@1969strangelove I'm so sorry to hear you had a frustrating visit with the doctor. Even our they don't know what to do with us most of the time. Feel free to shoot me an email through my website. Big hug 💕
Doctors are so clueless about lipedema and lymphedema. Many don’t even know what lymphedema is😮
my surgeon won't replace my knee even though I dropped the required weight. he is concerned about the lymphedema in my leg. he is looking above the knee...he can't get past that part won't magically go away...I had a female surgeon do my right knee and my leg was bigger than now. she had no hesitation...men are more afraid of it than women.
😮 Dr don't know I'm assuming. I went to my Dr and explained the pain, the bruises on my legs and he never stated lipedema. That's insane. It took me this to find an answer. I will be going back and showing him 4 sure. Tired of this pain
@@loriegonta3622 was your knee replacement successful?
I had to go Carnivore for six weeks, then switch to Keto. Like you said, every body reacts differently. Find what works for you.
Eggs are not dairy. Love the helpful video. Going to do the test
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, from me being depressed you light 🕯️ up hope this morning in my life , thank you 🙏🏽
This is remarkable info. I feel so hopeless and cannot find the right doctor. Thank you :)
Good luck 💕
It is so possible! I felt totally disheartened when first diagnosed, but ended up going down a dress size over the past year without even trying…
Congratulations, Alex! That's great to hear. What has been working best for you? I hope that in addition to losing inches, you are also feeling better too! I found my energy improved and my brain fog subsided. Hopefully, doctors will soon stop telling people there is no hope
How wonderful that is to lose without trying…
Hope coming from doctors and medical aids would be a great help and support🙌🏼
Thank you for this information. What brand of sensitivity test did you buy at the drig store? Thank you
Not officially diagnosed yet, but so sure Im a lippy lady. I think dairy may also be my issue and i think i will try cuttinf out dairy for the next couple months and see what happens!
Have you tried fasting for prolonged periods of time to trigger autophagy and cell repair?
I'm so glad you've found what works for you, Hazel! I'm a huge fan of walking a vibration too. Keep it up :)
What do you eat on keto if you can have dairy or eggs?
Did you find improvements with the large Guasha and the cupping kits ? Of the items that worked what were the brands ? Thanks.
So how are things going 6 months later?
I knew nothing about a food sensitivity test from the drug store will do - Thanks!

I thank you very much I have same problem for years no Metter what I did let me try this thank you again!!
Please post a typical day of eating as you were starting out. Thanks.
Great idea! Other people have been asking about that too. I'm traveling again but will definitely do that for you when things settle back down in a few weeks. ❤
Hi Rebekah,
These lipedema videos started coming through my feed when I was interested in keto.
Thanks for sharing your video with really valuable information!!!
Thank you for sharing! I love your channel
Your videos are very encouraging. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing. You are giving me hope
Will you do a what I eat in a day on the keto diet video?
What was the name of the test that you took to test food sensitivities, and how did you get it? Also, what was the price of the test, and how long did it take to get your results back?
What do you eat when you get a sugar craving? You may not have it now but in those earlier days when you first gave it up?
Anytime I tried to do low carb I was ravenous so on Mounjaro now and lost some
Positive results with keto for women post menopause who have lipedema????
Low fat diet made my legs lose weight. Nothing else has worked before or since. Should I revert to that, I wonder
How about carnivore? With regard to egg, it can be the whites only.
What allergy test did you use? I found this video to be quite helpful
What about those of us that have Gerd abs hiatal hernia that can't do high fat because it makes the gerd worse?
May I know how can we do the food sensitivity test.
Thank you for sharing. Did you find a higher protein version of keto than what is typically recommended helpful?
Help me with lipoderma
I cut out gluten im mostly carnivore. It is amazing at how i feel. I think ill take allergy definitely want to see if i can continue with milk
What about if you are vegetarian? Can you still do it?
Very interesting
Thankyou
So now I have to wear a support bandage for that knee (now and again)
I also have pain in my heel and foot area... just so strange.
I dunno.
Hang in there hope you find something that works for you
🙌🏼💕
Going to try no dairy. Thanks for your advice
@wendyluckie4537 did you find my video on food sensitivities? That might be helpful too ruclips.net/video/7q-RczR23RM/видео.html
Cows are given HORMONES which may be the cause of lipedema (?). I am going to try organic dairy and pray that I'm okay eating it.
Here's one recent publication: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC11044871/
Where do I get the pamlets from to download
@judithreier5433 you can order them from the Lipedema Foundation. They can either send printed copies of the English version or you can download it in several different languages and print it yourself. Here's the link : www.lipedema.org/brochure
