I turned to carnivore 15 months ago at age 63 after being diagnosed with lipedema, lymphedema, and vein issues, which explained the weird and twisted fat on both my arms and legs. I turned to carnivore to try and stop the twisting of the fat on my upper arms and thighs that had started happening when I hit 60 and weighed a high of 219 at 5"5". Last November I got down to 118 on carnivore and from a US size 16 to a 2. My upper arms, thighs, and calves are still larger than the rest of me, but I proved weight loss could be achieved. I still want to lose a few more pounds of inflammation off my limbs. I'm using compression and work in the heated saltwater pool at our development. I'm retired in Mexico and live on social security so getting any kind of surgery is out of the question. The key for me is staying as close to zero carbs as possible. And I'm a raging carb and sugar addict with cravings 24/7. But I don't want to lose the ability to walk, and this disease loves carbs.
@SharrellKline thank you for sharing your experience and congratulations on your success! 🥳I totally agree about carbs. I noticed my body is extremely sensitive to them too and swells the moment I go over even 20g total carbs. Bagels used to be one of my favorite foods, but I've gladly given them up to feel this good. Sending big hugs and good vibes for those last few pounds of inflammation ❤
Omg im so happy for you😢❤ can you please share more on what you eat and the amount of food. I started 2 weeks im trying compression, changed my diet. 🙏🏼 this is my last hope
That’s excellent results, congratulations 🎉🎉🎉. I have tried for years to lose weight but failed every attempt, I knew my body was one in a million😁, I finally managed to lose some weight on high protein and high fat combination but have way more to go, I lose slowly but it’s been so encouraging to actually see a bit of loss for a change! I. Hoping to achieve my desired results.
I found your channel after google (medical sites) said it's absolutely impossible to lose lipedema fat. I said to myself: let me check if there are real ppl on youtube who have lipedema. So glad I did. I went low carb and I'm already seeing results. I think I'm stage one brodering stage 2. It got worse with my 3rd pregnancy. No doctor in my country even knows what lipedema is. I'm so sad for my grandma and aunts who I realized they all had it. They had zero resources.
@Saturn57 I'm glad you found us! There are many of us here finding success without surgery. BRAVO to you for getting started and congratulations on starting to get results. Keep it up!! By sharing our stories and fighting for more recognition we can make things better for the younger women coming behind us so they don't have to suffer like your grandma and aunts.
Thank you for sharing! NSV ...This past week I put on a T-shirt that for ages has been tight, esp around my upper arms (where my lipedema rears its ugly head). It wasn't tight, not even on my arms!
I can't even imagine how anyone could have a problem with the word sturdy... 💜💜 Just starting the journey...aware not that this was the issue all my life. Your videos keep us sturdy. 🤗🤗
Thank you for this wonderfully encouraging video! I have been experimenting with the carnivore diet for going on three years, and I’m finally ready to commit. Since January, I have lost 1 inch in my thighs and upper arms, which to me is amazing even though I wasn’t doing carnivore full on. As they say in the carnivore community, you can almost sense your body recompositioning even though the scale is not showing dramatic changes at the beginning. My goals are to decrease the swelling from lipedema and to mitigate the pain from my rheumatoid arthritis, to be able to bend down and play with my granddaughter, to lose a few dress sizes to match the woman I know I am on the inside, and to be able to climb stairs without panting.
@valoriequesenberry I'm so glad to hear carnivore is working for you! I agree that the body starts changing before the scale shows it. That's why I'm grateful I took so many pictures. Many months I lose no weight but could see the changes in my body, which kept me going. You are doing a great job! I'm sure your granddaughter is a great motivator :) Sending big hugs. Keep us updated on your progress!
Thank you for your story. You have given me hope, I was just diagnosed this year with lymphedema after having back surgery last year. I’m in so much pain. I’ve seen neurologist and I’m getting an MRI next week because this is not normal and the lymphedema therapist said this is not normal lymphedema pain. It’s crazy I feel so behind schedule,I’ve been in the house not able to drive my car. You look awesome thank you😊
Thank you for giving me hope. I was feeling so alone since my diagnosis of stage 3 lipedema a year ago. I was told the only thing that could be done for me was surgery. I was given 3 surgeons in 3 different states. I am so grateful that you are sharing your journey. You are such a blessing to me in my lipedema journey. You are extremely helpful. Much love with an abundance of blessings.❤
@Purposes8 it's so sad that doctors are still tell people surgery is the only option. It's hard work, but certainly possible. Even if you ultimately decide to have surgery, conservative treatments will give you some relief from your symptoms both before and after. Sending big hugs! Stay strong!
You are such a beautiful inspiration, Rebekah, I so appreciate all of your approaches to this disease. Agreed that diet and exercise are key. Sending good wishes for the new week. 🧚🏻♀️❤️🐝
Hello lovely Rebekah.. I have been following you from the beginning.. I want to say congratulations 🎊 👏 🙌 your channel has grown!! Your real and sincere and have a beautiful. aura 😊 💋. I like you was told 18months ago that nothing you can do except maintain your current weight and only liposuction was the answer!! I was given bespoke compression and that's it.. Well I was stage 2 but now lost 2 stone weight and limb sizes are gone down.. Was UK 14/16 now 12/14.. Yes lipedema is always present but you have to be consist with self care.. Walking, vibration plate, compression, dry brushing, massage gun and dry brushing.. Above all be kind to yourself and wellbeing 😊 💋 sending hugs to all Lipedema ladies x. I don't do Keto but try to eat healthy diet. Wholemeal, fruit and vegetables and nuts etc.. One size does not fit all.. Just have to keep a food log and see how your body reacts to inflammation.. Have a fabulous week ahead 😊 💋
@@sturdywoman thank you Rebekah for your kind words and inspiration as you are the only person I follow regarding conservative treatments..your simply fabulous and amazing 😘 💋
I really appreciate the wisdom and experience you share with us. After wading through the latest irresponsible lipedema social media postings from Anna O’Brien (Glitter and Lazers), we really need this kind of content. Thank you so much.
Thankyou so much for sharing your journey. I've started the czsalus compression and a carbs manager keto/lowish carbs early July as a result and have lost 2kgs in a week. I've also started reading Dr Amato's book and it is so enlightening.
I realise that for several years I only spent 8-9 hours for myself including sleep. This was my daily selfcare: 1. Sleep 2. Shower, brush teeth, brush hair, wear jeans, t-shirt, tennis shoes 3. @HNgr579 I couldn't agree more that self-care require dedication and determination! And it's definitely a job no one else can do for us. Like you say, it often required difficult, major changes. Earlier this year I changed jobs and returned to the office for the first time in four years. It was a massive change but the lower stress and increased opportunities to socialize and move have been transformative for my health. Keep up the great work - it sounds like you are doing a great job putting yourself first
It is very helpful that you list conservative treatment methods for weight loss because for some people liposuction might be contraindicated due to other medical risks or due to certain medications, because they do not want to undergo a surgical procedure Perhaps you could do a series of videos 1. actually preparing your meals 2. actually doing whole exercise sessions, whole walking sessions, whole running sessions, while at the same time talking about the activity: cooking, exercising, running etc

I have ms and lipedema, and lung covid in 2020. My fatigue is hell. I started 2 weeks ago after watching all of your videos to wear sz sarus compression leggings. Eating 2 meals a day trying carnivore but its hard. Small walks i can barely move. Thank you for giving me new hope😢❤
@samsensation786 sending big hugs! Remember, you don't have to do everything at once. Experiment and see what gives you the most relief - you don't have to do everything right now and you don't have to do everything everyday. (Except keto/carnivore. I don't recommend playing with cheat days because they will really set you back!) Your body needs to do some healing, but once you start taking care of it in this new way you'll start to feel better. Give it a few months. Stay strong and stick with it! You are worth it!
Exactly what I was told not really anything I could do. I am changing diet to low carb low inflammation. Compression, walking, exercises. It takes time and can get frustrating 😢
@KyDairyGoats stick with it! It sounds like you are doing everything right. Give your body time to heal and focus on non-scale victories. You can see that taking pictures was really helpful for me to track progress. Remember, you're worth the work
I love the fact that i no longer feel like i am wearing leggins. Which i didnt even realise. When my inflammation went down, my legs felt so weird. Like i just took of two pais of tight leggings 😂 I also love that i can now enjoy the sun whereas before the sun was horrific for my lipedema 🌞
@marlacarpenter6450 getting a diagnosis is a journey in and of itself. Lipedema Foundation has a provider directory: www.lipedema.org/provider-directory and Lipedema Project also has one that is patient-submitted lipedemaproject.org/lipedema-lipoedema-lipodem-provider-directory/ Keep at it! Sending big hugs ❤
Love your videos and thank you for sharing your journey! Do you have a discount code for the leggings? I have purchased three pairs and they really look nice and make my legs feel great!
@user-nx4mm7ip8v unfortunately I don't. If I ever have one I'll be sure to post it here, though. I've occasionally seen them give out codes conferences. Glad to hear they are helping!
Curious if you’ve encountered the research of Dr Jorge Flechas or Dr Brownstein? They contend that increasing iodine intake can also promote healing in lipedema tissues. I have recently learned so much about iodine deficiency in women and it can manifest in myriad ways. (Mine was fibrocystic/cyclical breast pain. I had very quick success in eliminating the pain and dramatically altering the structure. Congrats on your success!!
@Hinz2005 thanks for sharing! No, I haven't read their research but my nutritionist did encourage me to eat seaweed to increase my iodine. I'll go down the rabbit hole with @MySoulRoared :D
How is your skin developing? Is the loose skin getting tighter? Are you considering having it removed or is it going away on its own? I have started with keto at about 360 pounds, lost about 60 so far. I was at lipedema specialist and now my papers say at about 240 or 250 pounds i might get debulking surgery (with enough luck even on insureance!). So i have still some time left to think about it. Most of my extra weight is in waist, hips an buttocks to the degree so even if keto works i am considering debulking bc it would be maybe too much loose skin to expect to disappear. And the extra skin on left leg from reduced lymphedema sack.
@anniebeanie710 I definitely have some loose skin. I think you can see some of it on my arms in the video in particular. I do supplement with collagen to give it some extra love (this is my favorite: refer.link/Je9O ) and I think fasting has also helped. Some people say autophagy can help prevent loose skin. Check out this video from Dr. Berry ruclips.net/video/KWh4qeVEaqw/видео.html To answer your question, no, I'm not thinking about getting it removed right now. I have too many student loans to deal with first :D I do know lipedema women who have had skin removal, though. It's definitely something people choose to do
Thank you because I know I'll probably never be able to have surgery. I think, it was your channel that introduced me to CZSALUS. And... I got a pair of Amazon return at a discounted price in what was my size on the chart. I've been in them since and bought 2 more. They fit almost perfectly in the legs are good and snug but the torso is for a bit bigger person but still fits well. I can move better in them. Thank you. And to me, your sturdy woman title, I took exactly as you explained it. So, too bad to the nay sayers. And, now I fit in my saddle like never before. Thank you for your bravery with your channel. ❤ I ate low carb for more than 20 years. Even fasting stopped working after 80 lbs gone. Until I found oxalates, carnivore and lion, I almost gave up. Walking was really difficult. And I have a FARM to run. Through Lion diet, just beef, salt and water. I add my own butter and can have my own cultured buttermilk. As long as I stick to just those things, I have little to no inflammation, walking gets easier, I don't fall as much and the lipedema pain in my legs is drastically reduced. I still bruise easily. I really appreciate your channel
@milkmaid4077 bravo to a fellow STURDY WOMAN! It sounds like you are doing wonderfully with everything and really fighting for your health. I'm impressed! I wonder if a nutritionist might be able to help untangle some of what's going on and help you find a few more things you can eat. Reach out to me through SturdyWoman.com if you want help finding someone.
@@sturdywoman thank you for the offer. I have done 4 day fasts with a food add back at about 4 days. I can eat eggs from our own milk fed (not grain fed) chickens which range the barn, but not commercial eggs. Our own pasture raised beef. I probably could eat our own chicken, but I keep so few right now, I can't do that. I do make cheese from our milk but haven't recently, as I need to finish the kitchen to have a nicer place to make it. I do have one from march aging that I haven'topened yet to see if I am ok with it. Commercialcheeses are a no no. Other than our own meats, dairy and orchard fruits, there isn't much I could want. I already know I can't eat nuts, the oxalates are a killer for my joints. I usually grow a big garden, but not this year. Oh, and I can eat a bit of fish, salmon, tuna if it's wild caught and not farmed. It's just not worth experimenting any more. It takes a week or 3 to recover from an experiment and at nearly 60 its just not worth it. 😉🤗
I was just diagnosed with Lipedema. I have pain in my legs but one of my worst symptoms is severe itching in my legs if I workout or use the vibration plate. It’s so bad that it makes me nauseous. Any one else have this symptom? It’s so horrible!!
When I walk or do vibration plate. My trick is just do the vibration plate with only my underwear on. It helps with the itching. Also please run it on low speed.
@screenname2206 it might be worth checking with a doctor. It's actually possible for some people to have an allergic reaction to vibrations! A little bit is normal as the circulation increases in your tissues, but it should be so much that it makes you nauseous! Also, as the other commenter noted, you only need to use it on the lowest settings.
I ha e a question to all who live with lipedema, do you change when you drink diet soda? Its weird, i have started drinking diet fanta and diet sprite recently and i get more hungry. Im not sure if its the drink or my meno pause 🙄
the " diet" fanta include and most diet soda, include aspartam or other so called sugar free artificial suger. They go to the liver and the liver then have to make real sugar of them to be able to get rid of it. Therefore you get hungry after a while. Ordinary water, or tea. Is what to drink.
I have lipedema and have to avoid the artificial sweeteners in diet soda. They almost immediately trigger the inflammatory process for me. This leads to pain and hunger signals for me.
@EvilFleesBeforeMe I used diet sodas as a crutch when I first started keto (diet rootbeet and heavy cream!) but the other commenters are right that the artificial sweeteners aren't doing you any favors. If you google around you'll find quite a bit of research like this: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7014832/ There seems to be a connection between using them and insulin resistance. The only thing I use now is a little bit of stevia.
Why do you look at ur reflection ? As a viewer, your eyes are looking to the upper right corner. It would be so nice if you looked at the camera. Right at @7:01 you look at us! It’s the best part.
It's extremely hard for us women to get help and to have another woman make you jump thru hoops and take your money off this horrible disease.. we should be helping eachother not this.

Lipedema Foundation has a provider directory: www.lipedema.org/provider-directory and Lipedema Project also has one that is patient-submitted lipedemaproject.org/lipedema-lipoedema-lipodem-provider-directory/ Keep at it! Sending big hugs ❤
Stay dedicated to finding the right care team. You are worth it.
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the word sturdy associated with women!!!
@kelleymoore6080 thank you! Sturdy Women unite!
I would much rather be described as sturdy than flimsy. ❤
Thank you for this video!
@MarinaTatarinova1 thank YOU for being here!
Thank you so much for posting this comment! I've gone down quite the rabbit hole in the last couple hours
@@MySoulRoared you are welcome. I’ve been shocked at the changes I’ve experienced!
@Hinz2005 thanks for sharing! No, I haven't read their research but my nutritionist did encourage me to eat seaweed to increase my iodine. I'll go down the rabbit hole with @MySoulRoared :D
Veinus insufficiency is part of lipedema. So is adipose tissue disorder.
I ate low carb for more than 20 years.
I have all 3 of those and tachycardia. Had to have heart ablation
@g.3720 sending big hugs! I hope you are starting to find some relief
I’m blessed to have found your channel. I happy to be among truly sturdy women. I see our beauty in all you share with us. Much love.
@patsyruth2 thank you for your kind words and for being here!
@@liatka9661 I can image.. ps Im also in peri menopause. The worst thing about it, apart from everything lol, is loosing so much hair :(
I have lipedema and have to avoid the artificial sweeteners in diet soda. They almost immediately trigger the inflammatory process for me. This leads to pain and hunger signals for me.
@@carolelancto3483 wow ok, thanks for sharing. I have not drank any diet soda today and feel much better and less hungry.
