The new tractor and seeder seams to be doing a pretty good job. It is really nice of John Deer to let you Demo there new equipment. I'm not a farmer but have worked running a tractor doing plow in the bottom land of the Sebean River in Southeast Texas. The ground was river bottom and we did plowing to turn the soil up so it would dry before planting Watermellon and Okra. Nice to see the new equipment in action. I really enjoyed your post. I’m 72 now and have a breathing disability but I grew up on a farm in north central Ky. We lived off the farm and that takes a lot of different kinds of crops. Our only money crop was tobacco or backer in my day lol. I tell everyone that I grew up on a 120 acre farm where the ground was so poor it took a quart of whiskey to just a raise a ruckus. I didn’t farm after marriage and children although I did raise tobacco for a lot of years. I retired from Ky. State Police long time ago it seems now. Enjoying my little great grandchildren now with the youngest born Easter Sunday, one day old at the time of this post and haven’t held him yet. I subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching you. All the best luck to you and your family.
I had an open platform trucking business for 35years. Sold and retired several years ago. I have hauled every kind of machinery including agricultural equipment and have been in JD and Case plants many times. Started following you a year ago. Your videos on tiling were particularly insightful on water quality. I live in a rural area but have never really been able to see the machinery at work. Now I'm hooked. Larson Farms Sonne Farms, Farming Fixin Fabricating, Harmless Farmer, Petersen Farms, a variety of Homestead/Hobby farmers. What I love is the multiple skill sets all of you have. It takes a lifetime to learn and you keep learning, a little more than what Bloomberg can teach in ten minutes. I applaud your hard work and the America ingenuity you and all the farmers employ. God Bless you all.
I've been watching these types of videos, and I can't help but admit that I wish that I could be involved with the agriculture business. I live near enough farms that I can always see the local farmers working and they seem happy to do it. Getting into the industry is difficult and its nearly impossible to actually get the land, equipment, and knowledge to be successful.
Start off small by WWOOFing or helping out during harvest seasons. I've picked coffee in Hawaii and my boyfriend helped on a farm in Hawaii and I've been a trimmer and harvester in California. You pick up a lot of knowledge just being in the environment. Now I've had my own garden for two years and I learn more and more about agriculture everyday just by getting myself in the dirt. You'd be surprised how much food you can grow on a small piece of yard or land.

Enjoy your videos. Tractors, planters, and monitors have come a long way. I worked at the Deere planter factory when the first front fold planters were released. I also helped test the first vacuum meters. i retired from Deere 6 years ago. I find it interesting now about the brush delivery belt for the seed. The 495A planter in the '60's had a chain system that did the same thing. Then the finger pickup units used a belt. What goes around, comes around. Good luck this year!

In Michigan a field that the neighbor works use to be a lumber mill in the 1860 or there abouts, worked with horses for years got permission to metal detect it and in the course of 2 wks. I pulled 6, 5 gal pails of scrap metal out of it. I got 4 metal spikes with sharp ends on them, don't know how he works it without getting flat tires. have a good season.

Technology with all this equipment is amazing.
Just found this video. I'm not a farmer, but I'm sorry you're struggling with equipment, but this is a lot of fun to watch. Thanks. And it looks like you made your goal. Congratulations.
Have you heard of twin row corn? We plant twin rows and have been doing it for 10 years now and like doing it. We run with older iron and me personally I prefer the markers on a corn planter. Some of the older iron is as realiable as brand new. I do have respect for your operation hats off to you educating the consumers. Respect to you and your family from a dairy Farmer in NE WI.
“Thunderrrrrrr’ haha...nice vid again Zack!👍🏻 Good to see you explain a lot of stuff that I, as a non-farmer, find interesting. So..like...how long does planting a field typically take in hours? And you guys lease the equipment? I guess so, right?
That's really dependent on the size and shape of the field but a 140 acre field should be around 5 hours. And we don't actually lease anything currently. It's all either owned or a demo (because of this channel... not a common thing for farmers)
Thanks Zack for the shout out for Andy,I've been following him for quite awhile. A shout out for a top notch guy, from a top notch guy. Thank you again....
I've metal detected a ton of Fields and it would really surprise you whats out there. I've picked up square nails, musket balls, musket parts, military buttons, plow blades, bolts, springs, a ton of coins, buckles, saddle horns and much more. Some fields I've been in are just littered with nails every half a foot. Its a wonder machinery doesn't pick it up more. I think the local farmers like my service, free clean up lol

Thank you for your work to feed the world! With blessings of God from Norway, where we have half our population, the rest is mostly in the old Montana Territory. It's simply amazing to watch your fields over there, going into the horizon. I talked with my grandfather born in 1926 yesterday and he talked about rowing across the fjord against the wind, to get some hay from another farm, in order to have enough for his fathers animals. They were on a farm with an about 45 degree slope, I'd like to see your fancy machines doing that. In my family they mostly had to plow by spade.

I'm speechless to come up with my appreciation for your advice to check out the Harmless Farmer, my gawd, sat here in tears watching his video of his accident, and how he is blessed with a family that knows how life can be changed, and how a family reacts to the unheard of. I can't thank you enough for the recommendation!
We are starting to striptill the last circle or 1/2 mile sprinkler. We should be planting corn and cotton in 4 weeks beginning later in May. I guess Texas is a different place. We used to plant mid April in 50 degree tilled soil but I like the 65 degree soil to have the best stand possible. Tassel in August when nights are cooler and longer.

@@cmusic52 hahahahahahahahahahahahaha lol oh telling the tines its naughty lol we have so much same issues with the deere planter too same thing wich were thinkiing about getting rid of it in the feature and getting a new kubota planter
The pert about the 5 % coating is why I watch this site. I would have never known that kind of info. I hope these guys continue to put in these kinds of facts. Luca
A spring rake took on field cultivator shovel, get hooked. A ring is easy to pickup too, from horse use times. Also a fence staple will get pickup by seed opener disks, lock them from turning.
Mornin Jim seems like it would be good on a T-Shirt.
You're a hell of a guy Zack, love how you selflessly help others out. - Dave
Long day here too...the comment, “he is really taking a nap!” made me laugh out loud. The kids got scared it was so loud. Good stuff man! Thank you! When shit just doesn’t go right all day, you’ve gotta keep it lite to survive.
🤣🤣🤣 thank you!
Subscribed! Hope you reach your 500K goal. I'm not a farmer and don't know how this video got into my feed but I'm really glad it did. God bless you and your family and all of the farmers in our great nation.
Millennial Falcon! Haha! Yes.
Never thought those words “Thunnnder” and “You Okay?” Would make me happy and laugh
I swear, every time he opens or does anything relating with that Thunder fuel pump/trailer thing I quietly say “Thunder” to myself 😂
We hear it everywhere we go!
You’re definitely not the only one hahaha
In Michigan a field that the neighbor works use to be a lumber mill in the 1860 or there abouts, worked with horses for years got permission to metal detect it and in the course of 2 wks. I pulled 6, 5 gal pails of scrap metal out of it. I got 4 metal spikes with sharp ends on them, don't know how he works it without getting flat tires. have a good season.
Watch all of Harmless Farmer's videos. Haven't caught all of his live feeds, but try to catch them when I have a chance. He is amazing, along with this wife Corky and daughter Kylie. They will make it through this tough time with all of our thoughts and prayers for them.
Thanks Zach and John Deere for providing us great videos with great tractors and equipment.
Technology with all this equipment is amazing.
Skip everything just to watch this video :)
The planter should be called: Optimusseed
"I'm not complaining........It's just farmin'!"
Just found this video. I'm not a farmer, but I'm sorry you're struggling
with equipment, but this is a lot of fun to watch.
Your soil looks beautiful! Harvest is going to be SICK!
We are blessed with very good soil here!
"I can feel it, hes gonna throw a code at me"
When the machine is fully automated and you gotta use your gut feelings for something else
Who is the actor playing “Jim”? I feel I have seen him before in an Action movie with Aaaaanold Schwarzenegger
Great planting season so far in Canada. Haven’t gotten into the field yet
"Hardcore History" by Dan Carlin. Long episodes about cool history
i wish other people would make long podcast's like that. I like listening to the when trucking

Wow 9 mph seeding?
Love watching your videos! Just put out a Facebook post to help you get to your goal of 500,000 subscribers. Lots of farmers in my family and on my friends list. Best of luck!
It is good that JD does what it is doing for you and the industry. JD has always been at the forefront of farm technology. What you showed us today, how easy it is to get back there and fix a problem show some real engineering!
My dads uncle in the 40's found a golden wedding band on a rotary hoe tine once, a story i would love to know.
That would be a good story!
@@MillennialFarmer so the legend goes it looked pretty old then. I have never seen it, Gerald died long before I was born. but grandpa talked about it a few times
"The company of John Deere, John Himself called me" - funny!
It will be funny, if Deer himself called him :D
The name of John Deere CEO is John C. May. So May be that’s why. Deere employee here
After I watch "Harmless Farmer" I can do anything and no complain here any more!!!! #keepondigging
Here in western aus all of our canola is gmo roundup ready. The varieties we seed are 404 and gt5 something. It yields great and really helps with the weeds. Thanks Zac for the awesome vids
Almost spat my coffee at: “man, that guys really taking a nap”
"Who wants to tell what I should have done differently?!" You never stopped to check on that raccoon! Poor fella prolly had a few too many last night and just needed a lift home. Bad karma for the day!
Night farmin podcast. Favorite has to be “Time Suck” with Dan Cummins
Hi Nice planting job the new planters have progressed a long way. in 1993 in Canada on farm exchange program I used a 16 row manual gravity planter we had to use the guide disc arms to keep rows. straight too.
Enjoy your channel. Makes me miss being on the family farm in Northwestern Indiana. Love the Off The Husk podcast, I also like Disgraceland, 27 Club, The way I Heard It. All are great for killing the boredom and monotony of daily activities.
You know your a well liked man when you have 10000 views in 17 minutes

I wasn’t watching you a year ago but today you’re over 773K subscribers. I love your videos, you have a great family and I hope you made the 500K last year. If you answer this I probably won’t see it, I used to get notifications if anyone commented to me but I must have hit a button and I don’t get that anymore.
When you get to 500k I will donate 500$. Let’s pay it forward my fellow Americans! You’re doin a great thing Zach!!
Big shout out to John Deere for matching donation.
Are we just gunna ignore the fact that their was standing corn from last fall when miss MFer brought you food
I thought a Deere selling point was that built in refrigerator, whats with the cooler?
I just use it as a suit case for all of my processed, packaged food. I'm not used to having a fridge yet
@@MillennialFarmer They need a microwave next!
Just because JD provides a showcase brand new tractor or implement doesn't
mean it's a fully developed no bugs tractor or implement.
You're doing their engineering work in the real world.
Great show!
Millennial autobot... You guys are lucky to have dry soil. We're still waiting till next week to start doing spring work to prepare fields here in North Dakota Finley
"Colored corn seed!? Just stick the seed in the ground!," Mike B 😆
Off the Husk is the best podcast ever! Still waiting for the Mike Rowe to go on the show though! 😉 @mikerowe #mikeroweworks
We'll get through to him!

Say your line Zach
Zach: *Baeg*
Dont judge the Minnesotan accent lmao that is how I say it
The Giver hahaha sorry
My God.. needless to say I'm addicted to this channel, I'm 66 years old, engineer and builder, I've done some dumb things that resulted in living in braces on both legs.
“I’m not even gonna ask him” 😂🤣
“You’re naughty!!” 😂😂😂😂
5:07 - that's what she said
Zak Yes I believe that I have said it before, that yours is the channel that brought me back to watching RUclips with the professional way you present The piece that stopped me tonight was that after sitting many hrs on that rig and to those that never did it after 12 hrs they all get some what uncomfortable anyway you thought to think of Andy and what an inspirational bloke , so from Western Australia good luck with your seeding
Every seeding i fill approx 3 oil pails of rod-weeder chain, harness buckles, horse-bits and oddities by the end of our 3000acre with a Morris Contour.
