Aw crap. Missed (at least) two big things: 1) Jerricky beats his chest as a Donkey Kong reference because he just rolled barrels. 2) Memory Rick in the end credit scene first appeared in the Season 5 Eternal Sunshine episode. I shoulda caught those. Sorry guys, I got too caught up on talking about my facial dyslexia and my Dad’s past with Jimmy Buffett to do a second pass on this one. I’ll do better next time!

Another detail that occurred was that when jerry and rick drive through the window at chuxly's place, Morty is unfazed by what happens and just slightly ducks to avoid it.

The 30 year old Rick traped in Jerry's memories is the Rick from birdperson memory in the episode Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort (S5E8).

You didn't mention this, but I think you know that this 30 year old version of Rick that only exists as a memory is the one that was carried over from Birdperson's memories when Rick went into BP's memories to retrieve him
I love that Rick’s realization of Jerry’s life immediately causes him to off himself. Not the loss of his wife and daughter, all the multi-dimensional horrors… just living as Jerry was enough to do it. 😂
Yeah.. He couldn't handle Jerry's incredibly small bubble & view of life.
I always thought the mafioso, chucksley, was a reference to the first john wick movie explaining who john wick is. Strengthened by the "everyone is a criminal" thing with "everyone's an assassin" of the continental

I just wanted to say that the fused varients named themselves Burger and Fries. Burger being the one in Rick's body and Fries being in Jerry's. This makes it easier to refer to them througout the episode because technically neither is Rick or Jerry but they are also not a 50/50 blend of the two, they are unique individuals with weird amounts of both just kinda there. Its been helping me navigate the naming dilemma for Rick and Jerry so i dont stumble when discussing the episode with others.
it's also interesting how in the talking cat episode, the both of them see in the cat's mind, something so traumatic that it makes them want to no longer be alive, and rick mercifully mind blows jerry, but then stoically decides someone has to remember and holds the memory instead of wiping it.
meanwhile, rick couldn't handle being jerry for more than 5 seconds before offing himself, something which he tried to do on multiple occasions when he was in his own body.
so whatever trauma they saw in that cat's mind pales in comparison to the trauma of having to be Jerry for 5 seconds.
either Jerry is a lot more stronger willed than he appears or that cat's backstory is as traumatic as it was made to seem,
or perhaps, unaliving himself is something rick is constantly feeling compelled to do, but in his own brain, he's unable to do it, because maybe something in his brain hardware prevents him from doing it, but then Jerry's brain had no safeguard, so rick was immediately compelled to finish the job.
The part where he bangs his chest is probably a donkey kong reference. You know with the barrels 😊
I'm so glad that you mentioned "The Vat of Acid" callback from previous seasons, because i knew that i couldn't be the only person who felt like that was the direction that Jerricky was going towards in the 3rd act of this episode 😂

I think this one is a callback to the memory rick (from bird person's mind) being the one who keep both of their ego intact. Thus allowing them spring back to consciousness

I think the beating on his chest was in reference to the original Mario game. He had just tossed one of those barrels down at the gangsters right before doing it.

Both the conehead and howard dean references alone made this episode for me 😂
I did think it was odd that Rick gave him a gun immediately after the first episode, but then I re-contextualized it as Rick just plainly knowing Jerry’s character and calling his bluff, knowing he’d never kill somebody because he’s a baby that’s something only rick would do.

I felt like Rick offed himself in Jerry’s body because Jerry’s brain was too…smooth to handle Ricks consciousness.

I think you've correct here, Rick's hardware is more equipped to "handle" all the darkness and depression while Jerry's brain/hardware is just unable. I think this is similar to when they see inside the mind of the talking cat Rick is able to control himself and Jerry involuntarily throws up

i loved the callback to 30 year old rick from bird persons mind. he just completely left him in Jerry's mind 😂. maybe he will escape somehow and come after older rick.

9:13 the world is in the shape of a gun which makes sense for the crimeworld but also great detail.
Even from the trailer when Jerry asks for Rick's help, to me it came across as Rick thinking he said rape situation and that's why he asks "rake situation?" with emphasis on the rake 😅
This was maybe the episode they needed, it had real heart, not just some deeper meaning.
Theres something to these characters and show that can be real and true to itself without, well, y’all know.

Favorite episode in quite some time

the title of the episode being a reference to parent trap is because the concept of a parent trap is to lock 2 people who don't get along in a room and not let them out until they start getting along.
in the same way rick and jerry got locked together in both of each others heads and they had to learn how to get along.
