The president referring to aliens as "googas" is another community reference as well. Keith David's character helps dani pudi's ahbed make a scify movie, with a cgi character named googa.
Close, but the community episode was also just a reference. To one of their first sketch videos they made with aliens that they called "googas". You can still find it on youtube I think.

Rick seems very underpowered this season
Well he did have all of his gadgets and implants ripped out of him at the start of the season
Good. Rick was never supposed to be an overpowered anime character. He has the potential, but often is too drunk or just doesn’t care enough.
Season 1 Rick is a perfect example.
I’d say it’s probably a different rick or if it’s c137 he’s stopped caring so much about dying and he’s going back to how he used to be in the first seasons where he just let whatever wants to happen happen

I think the last episode of season 4? When they are fighting in the white house is my favorite of the series. It let's both characters shoe off and go all out but it's still stupid lol.

I think this episode confirms that we've been following two different Smith families. The one that we've been following since the beginning, and Evil Morty's family.
Before planning the Turkey Trick, Jerry asks Rick "Jesus how many times have you done that?"
And Rick says, "I don't know, how many year have I been here? *Careful how you answer that!*" Rick looks completely sincere when he tells Jerry to be careful about what he says next.
I think it's because Jerry's answer would let us know whether the Rick we're watching has been there for just a few years, or if this is a Rick who's been with the Smith family for Morty's whole life.
That also might be why Rick sometimes seems less powerful and experienced than usual.
I did find that comment from Rick unusual. It wasn’t a sarcastic reply like he’d usually make.
Plus the Morty this season is a lot more jaded and worn-down. He’s quick to anger, too (although maybe he’s tired of Rick’s shenanigans).
Remember in Season 2 when the Jerry’s are switched at the Jerry Day Care? This could have been a one-off joke but it’s possible we’ve been following a different Smith family ever since (or for this season).
Duh. 10 episodes a season.. random realities throughout and only one main story line which is the real Rick and morty.. which could explain why Rick is so easy to take down.
Best start to an episode so far this season!

*Missed Detail* (kinda) That truck fight was clearly a reference to the Matrix Reloaded truck fight. They even use some of the same moves and camera angles.

I've seen people say this season might be evil morty or evil Morty's life/Origin before he was evil, the way he being treated by his family and everyone makes I'm like that
The family hasn't even been doing anything to Morty. Jerry has been catching all the hell.
In the next episode with the ferrets/robots they shit on him real bad and he says "it makes you want to put an eye patch on the things you don't want to see" something like that but like I said it's what I've seen people comment on other videos and so but will just wait and see lol

I love that this season seems to have strayed from the more serious meta callback style to the random and weird as hell every episode like the earlier seasons.
changing the colour of the sky is in reference to the heist episode, as if everyone on earth knows the sky has changed in one way or another but have no idea what it was other then, it was rick related

The national treasure series is great and a treasure!, the only reason they can't make more money of it because they can't make merch out of it and make more of it cuz it's "national treasure"

Another thing that the FDR spider thing could be referencing, as another Rick/President parallel, is his attempt to reverse the "mate for life" aspect of his love potion with the "kills sexual partner" aspect of praying mantis DNA, since "what walks the most" is pretty much the same line of thinking.
I hope they comeback with another holiday episode where Rick is obsessed with some really random holiday like Groundhog Day and it turns out to be as important as thanksgiving in this one lol.
I think there are references to Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and the Battle at Helm's Deep --- both the "So it begins" line (by turkey-president) and the field of corn growing is similar to Theoden's line and Fangorn Forest

I don't think so, I think it's more likely they thought the season was gonna get split up again like the last few seasons and it would have returned around November or so.
a little extra feature (they showed after this episode) the creators where to tired after recreated that fight scene and drawing so many turkeys, none of them ever want to draw another turkey for a good while lol

funny thing about the shot that destroyed the lincoln memorial, liberty bell, and statue of liberty is that there's no straight shot from the national archives to the statue of liberty that hits all those targets. From the archives, you need to go west to get to the lincoln memorial, but then head north east to get to the liberty bell and then change your vector by about 10 degrees to the north to get to the statue. So the beam, assuming it traveled in a straight line, couldn't possibly have hit all those in one shot

I mean...one of the characters in Annihilation HAD cancer...so it might not be the overarching theme so much as a sub-theme feeding into the larger idea of "self-annihilation" through various means (cancerous cells, cheating, being replaced by a double, being mauled by a bear)
