Most of the advice was great but meeting your former crush without bringing your gf was SO feaking gross. All you had to do was mention to crush that you were in a relationship now and would be bringing new gf along. If you and crush didn't want to do that subtle "friends" flirting thing, it should have been a no-brainer to bring gf. You are lucky your wife is so incredibly forgiving..I think she deserved better honestly. That was a total jerk move on your part. You are very very very lucky your wife is more than special and I'm really not sure if you even deserve her. Count your blessings dude.
Porn is one thing, many smart women understand. But meeting with an old crush would hurt any woman. Would you agree to that? I dont know how you rationalize this but this is very unconventional thinking.
You said it yourself, if you put yourself in situations like this, eventually you will cheat or do mistakes.
Second, rational or not, if it hurts your wife, why would you hurt her.
I would never go for lunch with a married man (frankly would feel as I have loose values, lonely and disparate).
Rational or not, you still "enjoyed that diner" partly because its a girl you crushed on, or/and it validated you ego (previous rejection). And this is why your usually understanding wife was not confortable with that. She understood the real reasons. I know it makes you feel trapped, but sadly you were wrong on that one.

V Lounge yeah that was a total jerk move that he met with old crush without gf. MOST guys would taken gf along. In fact several times my bf's exes or women friends have called to get together and he always just casually tells them he's bringing me. I honestly don't think this guy deserves his wife and I wouldn't be surprised if she realizes the same if he keeps that sh*t up. You know damn well the reason he didn't take her is he wanted to be alone with crush...not to "do" anything, but to get that one on one attention from a woman he thinks is hot..and get his ego boosted by a little "friends" flirting. There was NO reason he "needed" to be alone with crush. SO GROSS AND DISRESPECTFUL of his partner and their relationship.
I've realized recently that my ex and I have been having a communication issue. At first I kept thinking his was playing games with me. But this past Sunday I finally came to my senses and realized that is what was the issue. I sent him a message explaining a way to help me understand better. Time will tell if it begins to work. I believe it will. We just seem to have different communication styles but should be able to help each other understand. This is really new to me but I believe it will be much worth the effort.

OK, OK so you're happy. We get it.
Of course HE's happy...he's very selfish and his wife is an incredible angel. Give her time though...bet she gets sick of his crap ...he was really pushing it with meeting former crush without gf...gf/wife is being nice about it, but we all know that level of disregard and disrespect he treated her with is something we do not forget. I bet it still stings if she were to be honest and have more care for herself and realize what she deserves in a man. So many guys would have treated her SO MUCH BETTER than that.

if you understand that, you will understand how narcs suck you in. and then you will understand the desire. BTW, i had a soul before this evil narc, he stole that too. it took me a long time to get it back. desiring a narc is the outcome of narc abuse. maybe you should learn more about it.

eve romero I'm so very sorry for your situation. Please remember narcissists only pretend to be everything you desire. In the meantime, they're pretending to be everything someone else desires, which could even be the opposite. They lie about everything and make you feel they're telling the truth.
