I too am really invested in this search for the perfect hydration belt. I like my hydration vest, but it seems like such overkill for runs under 10 miles. Especially since I have to clean and wash everything out afterwards. Also yes, nice to see Jamie on your iphone! Haha I love it.
Patagonia Strider Pro shorts eliminates the need for a waist pack for me. iPhone goes in the back pocket and two Flip-Belt water bottles fit perfectly in the built-in hip pockets. No issues.
This seems.perfect for me ... Thanks . I need this now.. it's flaming hot here now on the netherlands 32 Celcius and summer just started i come home drenched . Thanks kofuzi it even has a phone pocket.
Greetings! I really appreciate your thorough reviews. I'm trying to find a hydration belt that I think would work for me and so far you're offering me the most useful, practical info. Cheers!
I've got a similar belt from Salomon, with the same design. I find it much more usable for bicycling or cross country skiing, since bounce and fitting issues are unavoidable when I run. I rather use a camelback or a hydration vest instead.
I mentioned it on your video about the Nathan Pinnacle (before seeing this one), but I use the Nathan Peak. It's very similar in design to the Duro, but with a single pocket and some external shock cord instead of the dual-pocket design. It also has an insulated pocket and uses shock cord to secure the bottle instead of the thick loop the Duro uses. I find it works quite well for me.
Try the naked belt. It seems like you can fit a ton, like even 2 500ml bottles. I don't know about handling the weight though. It's a belt I'm considering
I wonder if the 3rd belt will be from UltrAspire? Speedgoat put his name on one of them, so they have to be pretty no nonsense and functional. Ginger Runner certainly likes their waist lights.
I agree. I wish the phone wasn't visible during the run and it would be easier to access it. I am doing some jog and walk combo, which I think is more common workout style by casuals. I like to take up my phone time to time, check messages and take a picture.
The big point is that a belt with a hard bottle actually works in terms of being able to get at them effectively, not bouncing and not leaking. Hard bottles are the way. I've found Osprey stuff in general to be really well made.
I love running with my waist pack, unfortunately, it's discontinued. I have an Ultimate Direction 'Groove Analog' which has a 600ml bottle in a nice cage and a sizable zippered pack where I can fit my phone with case, a gel for the run, and a bar for after the run. On the outside of the pack is a cinch strap where you can hold something like a thin jacket just in case. The belt is hook and loop and holds mighty tight. Everything's easy to access at speed and so is belt adjustment if necessary. Sits nice and low, stays in place. The closest thing to this I can see in their lineup is the Mountain Belt.
Have you, or anyone reading comments, had any experience with the Nathan Peak Hydration Waist Pak? It seems similar to this Osprey pack but without the TPU phone pocket, which I don't care about anyway, and it's slightly cheaper.
Great timing on these waist pack reviews. I’m looking to replace my cheapie one that I got from Amazon. It works okay but it uses a Velcro belt that ends up snagging on my shirts and causing them to pill up. It also holds regular cylindrical water bottles at an angle and when it’s full, I can feel the weight dragging down the belt. I hope that the next one you review is THE ONE!
I find myself relying on the flip belt with the zipper. Or now that I frequently have to drive to get to my running spots, I’ll leave a bottle on the windshield of the car and snap it up on one of my laps
@@kofuzi that makes sense. Maybe I should look into loops. I just like running one long route so much. But for marathon training I could probably look into it
@@kofuzi The Pinnacle belt you reviewed a few days ago is the new version of the Krar belt. Nathan removed Krar and Howe’s names off this year’s belts and vests. The bottle pocket seems to be the main difference, so maybe the previous Krar belt actually held its bottle?
@@phillipoyer3407 i have a vaporkrar and didn't have any issue with the velcro holding a 500ml soft flask. my issue is actually with the soft flask (earlier version. leaky cap).

I'm just glad that someone still makes a bel that holds solid hydration with a real ability to hold a phone + extras.

Shoutout to Jami for making a cameo.
No one speaking to the Jami cameo on the phone there? Haha
Now you mentioned it lol

You need to review the Naked Running Band, by far the best running waist pack! Also, didnt know your middle name is danger! Haha.
Hahahaha!

Osprey makes great stuff I have one of their day backpacks
Thank you for your review. Which belt model is your favorite finally? It seems that the best would be the Osprey?
Great review. I put my iPhone in my pants pocket with my new purchase.

Same problem as my raidlight belt with the clip digging on my side...
I’m in Chicago too! Any beginner runners clubs you recommend?
ultraspire is a brand that's rarely reviewed. maybe you want to check their belts out.
@kofuzi what pack are you using now ... going into marathon prep, and my vest is just to much at times

Have you tried the Naked brand waist belt? Curious as a comparison to this one.
I really like mine
Tried Ultraspire?
Was that a Jamison Michael wallpaper?
I am a huge fan of my Nathan vaparkrar belt.
I don’t think they make it anymore. It’s only available in women’s on the website

Can I keep 1 litre water bottle in it?
no
You don't have to put a phone in there u can out gels there as well
I think gels would be particularly difficult to get out of that phone pocket while running. The hook and loop is just so strong there.
You should also try Naked Running Band. In my opinion it's the best.
all these waist belts with clasp lock system just scream "chafe city"
I see your cousin JAMI!
I see him every day
This is an outdated belt. I run with naked running band. There is so much space in it with zero bounce.

From my point of view, there is nothing even close to the Naked Running Band Belt.
P.S: A Trail Runner is writing the comment.
