Just got into Catan and I'm so glad I got into this channel! Thanks for being so clear and concise in your reasoning in your decision making! Keep making great videos Dylighted,
The thing is, he's not wrong most of the time. Listening to Dy isn't wrong, but you have to realize what he's not saying, and the other players have to fill in the blanks.
If you offered 5 cards for 1, I would take it without question. If you offered someone else 5 cards for 1, I would list 10 reasons why it’s a terrible move. Hope that makes sense on how I approach the game.
Another commenter pointed out that it's not just about the 2 rolling, but also about the 5. The chances of a 5 or 9 rolling are 8/36, so in total that's 1/36 * 8/36 ≈ 0.6%. Since it doesn't matter whether the 2 or the 5 came first the probability is a little higher, but it still rounds down to 1%.
There's no way to make this sound nice over text, but here goes: I think you're always too concerned about playing OWS, even in positions where it would make more sense to play different strategies.
I haven't finished this video yet, but the thumbnail states a 1% chance roll. On two dice, even to roll a 2 or 12, that's 1 chance out of 36 possibilities, which is like a 2.7% chance of rolling ... So, the thumbnail seems slightly misleading..
I assume the 1% refers to the two rolls at the end. He got a 2 (1/36 chance) and a 5 (9 would've been equally good, so 8/36 chance). Together that's a 8/1296 ≈ 0.6% chance. Having the 5 or 9 first and then the 2 also works, so the probability of having those rolls in whatever order is actually around 1.2%, but it still rounds down to 1%.
Gotta love how dylighted is secretly schooling his opponents while on mute 😆
dylighted stepping up with a higher upload frequancy? Nice.
Trying my best! Thanks Kozo!
@@DyLightedPlaysCatan do you sometimes play DLC as well? any tips/tircks/tutorials?

Hilarious ending!
Im honestly surprised how no one ever gets pissed at how dylan table talks....people are too nice. dylan sounds like a car salesman.
Dylighted is like a scam artist. The best way to play against them is to ignore them. ;-)

We miss catan videos
Not sure what you were thinking to go with 3 resources for all practical purposes and non compatible ones too!! How do you win from there?
came back after 9 months and had the same question!!
Where do you play this online? Is it on steam? Or browser game? Free?! Thanks cool video

Have you ever had 2+ hour game in vanilla catan?
Yes - a lot
In tournament games is the rule to use balanced or random dice?
Rolling a 2 (or a 12) on 2d6 is not 1%. It’s well over 2%. One 33 would be 3%.
A 2 and then followed by a 5/9 was the lucky bit, not the two alone
I mean... 1/36 is closer to about 3% chance...
Yes, its about 2.8%, but only if you use math.
1% is better for the thumbnail tho
