Dude, I’m really glad you didn’t lie about the brick and win the game like that. I don’t care if it’s the galactic championship. I know catan it’s none binding, but I really think that content creators like you, with lots of followers and who can influence many, should keep high moral values. We might have different point of views here, but I apreciate you much more for spreading fairness and correctness. So glad you started posting again. Keep it up!
I don't think it's immoral to lie in Catan. There are many games in which it's perfectly amoral to lie. However, we do prefer to win without lying over winning by lying, since it's more valuable if your opponents trust you in the semifinals, finals, etc. In the finals, you should definitely lie.
Pause 11:55... Since you have the 3 VPs, I'd probably connect with the 3 roads, to put your stamp on longest road, and stop any thoughts Green or Black might have of building 2 roads to prevent your connect (and make a play for road themselves). Since you don't need a city to win this game, connecting seems the safest, quickest way for you to win. Then build the 3-1 port, and with that flexibility you can hopefully expand to expand to the 9-12 and win before they can conspire against you. If your dev cards were other things, like knights, I'd more so consider other options. Mainly just building a safe road to the 9-12 for a secure spot, reducing your hand to 4 cards, and then trying to settle the 3-1 port on your very next turn...
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen of you DyLighted and in the Catan universe. I love the explanation that you do in the middle of the video. Amazing stuff. Congrats! I feel I'm improving my game after seeing you everytime! Keep it up! Best regards from, Portugal!
21:45, You say it's a huge mistake to port for the road and connect, but I honestly don't think so. The threat of black having a road building or straight up building two roads is enough to want to secure road. Sure green didn't have any winning rolls, but for black if they cut you off, it's like you said. Their max road length is one more than yours so they are essentially guaranteeing road (of course green can still take it). I think it was the right play call me crazy. Also consider that no one is at an immediate threat of winning if you secure road, so you will have a few more orbits to get the settle.
Pause 21:32 - I'm terrible at tracking but my thought was to port the Wood for a Sheep or Wheat, because Black has to use his Knights for Army and has been consistently blocking the 8 Sheep. Therefore you will get stolen from in this rotation and the Sheep will get blocked. Your Sheep production will be interrupted and your Wheat is rare, so 4:1 for one of those. As an afterthought, holding is also a valid plan because it protects your valuable Wheat from getting jacked and keeps you flexible, so long as no 7. And since you have no Cities and Black will take one card from you, sevening out is slightly lower chances.
i think it would really help if linked videos that were in a series like this (etc a tourny) by playlist or in the title so that I know what one to watch next!
OOF that limp to the end was brutal! GG! This video was super high quality! But it is a little hard to follow future Dylan and past Dylan. Honestly, having some of your post game corrections in text edits might be enough
Lol. XD I had the same thought process and I was thinking where the rest would maybe place, with the knowledge I got so far from viewing your videos. Btw. Keep the great work up. Much love to you.
I can’t help but think this is really poor competition - not joining together to take road from Dylan once it becomes apparent he’s got 3 vp’s (which should have been obvious after 3 or 4 RDS of not using any of his devs). At minimum how could black not prioritize plowing to keep Dylan from connecting and capping his road length.
Should I do more post game analysis’s like these? They take longer to make but are overall better videos in my opinion.
Let me know below!
It is worth it in my opinion
I enjoy these way more
Continue please!
Yes please
I think this would have been a great main channel video! Overall like these vids!
Analysis is much better than plain gameplay. I‘d even say it‘s worth scaling the editing a bit back for that sake :)

💯
Gottta lie on that one
He’s got plenty of negative flack in the past for playing dirty before, he still justified lying but maybe that was in the back of his mind

It just means he played poorly.
I really do enjoy these sort of analysis-type videos with pauses to discuss your thinking. Keep them coming!
DyLighted with the regular uploads! You love to see it

These are the best types of videos. Analyzing your own games and pointing out mistakes, but also figuring out the correct plays. Great content

Best regards from,
Portugal!
Love the commentary/post game analysis
Should I do more? It takes me a lot longer but if enough people like it then I’ll do it.
Yay another video! After the months of no uploads these are so welcome
Really loving these analysis where you ask us to pause and think. Amazing, please keep them coming!
Such an informative video, great as always. Always learn so much from you.
Thanks! I put in some extra effort on this one.

Terrific! Dylan always bringing the best Catan content on RUclips :)

the editing is great, are all the planned moves part of the game? or post editing
Yay so glad you are uploading again
You really are spoiling us with the regular uploads Dylan
My comfort content
Hey what’s that song you’re using at the end?
Great Valentine’s Day gift
at 22:53, green needs 4 roads, not 3, also, you might finesse an ore for a sheep to win right there
Damn the dropping one road instead of two didn't even cross my mind. That's some galaxy brain stuff.
Can you please try the other games modes or maps?
I've won without roads before but without cities is quite something
i think it would really help if linked videos that were in a series like this (etc a tourny) by playlist or in the title so that I know what one to watch next!
Hey Dylan why did you abandon your other channel
These are just different types of videos and think don’t really mix well with the main channel videos
OOF that limp to the end was brutal! GG! This video was super high quality! But it is a little hard to follow future Dylan and past Dylan. Honestly, having some of your post game corrections in text edits might be enough
what happened to old title
Eh I thought it was bad, but we’ll see what the data says.
great video !
i would put my first settlement on the 5/6/9 an the street downwards to the right.
Lol. XD I had the same thought process and I was thinking where the rest would maybe place, with the knowledge I got so far from viewing your videos. Btw. Keep the great work up. Much love to you.
Black chose to go in the center then complained about the worst setup. Like, Bro, you had the choice for 9-10.
Everytime I see these videos I have to check if my video I sped up
Your hair looks fresh
WAIT. Dylighted this is a game from a long time ago
It’s from a live stream a while back that a lot of people saw. I wanted to add some more on it and decided to do a post game analysis to it.
love it
I think you overthought it by not pointing at the 9-10
So basically by you explaining the Dev cards...you show how OP they are. They should cost 2 sheep, 1 wheat, 1 ore to balance the game more.
Poor blacl
Robbing black at the end there is better. He has three rolls to accumulate a city and win. Green has one, with no winning rolls.
He literally won because he robbed green lol
@@jondonjr That's true. He got the wheat, right? Though the rolls could have gone different, and he didn't block black, either.
Yeah I agree, he should've blocked black
@@jondonjr That's results orientated, it was still an incorrect play imo

2vps is shit, 3vps is an automatic win
