Welcome back to brotato Ladies and gentlemen! The greatest vampire survivors like game in my opinion. The game recently released to the ios app store and google play store so with the arrival of brotato mobile edition I felt it would be good fun to show off an exploit / glitch that I have been enjoying in the game. Now personally brotato has been the best steam deck game for me so if you do have one I can strongly recommend you try it and use this exploit for fun! As far as vampire survivor like indie games go this is the best that a game dev has made.
Todays exploit is one that allows us to go to infinite waves using an AFK strategy that uses a game glitch where you can keep items between waves from the loot boxes. This means you dont need infinite or maximum attack speed or damage as instead you can just get infinite gardens or turrets to ascend into the god mode.
Welcome to brotato the world's premier roguelike dungeon crawling adventure where you play as a potato that must survive endless waves of enemies and each round improve your potato with weapons, stats and abilities. Today my plan is simple to prove if brotato is a perfectly balanced game with no exploits or if the ability to become god is exactly what the developers intended! Brotato is a top-down arena shooter roguelite where you play a potato wielding up to 6 weapons at a time to fight off hordes of aliens. Choose from a variety of traits and items to create unique builds and survive until help arrives.
Our build is going to be exploiting trees and the luck statistics to generate more upgrades than the game realistically expects and the luck stat ensures they are likely unique or legendary upgrades.

...i would rather questioning and blame the choice of the scythe - never a good deal to take recuring automatic dmg without equal benefit! (and no, high dmg per strike isn't equal, life steal that heals you much more than you get dmg'ed would be equal! - or having enemys get the same amount of dmg automaticly - but you srsly traded getting auto dmg for just an overpowered weapon you really don't need with all the dmg you already literally spit out! - but you rather blame the ghost that you accidentally took *friendly facepalm* (it's not like you decided to took that useless ghost, but you decided to take that scythe xP)

Technically that makes them pocket mines.
One of the reasons this game is so good is that you can see all of your stats and know exactly what each item does. A lot of roguelites will give you items and buffs with completely esoteric descriptions, meaning you just have to guess what they do. In my opinion, that's what makes games like Brotato and vampire survivors so replayable. Not to mention, this game has a ton of cool mods and a very strong community.
Yeah by far this is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding roguelikes in the industry
@@thespiffingbrit I am taking notes for the rougelite space game I am making, being intentionally exploitable is boring, but having emergent game-play opportunities will be ideal.
@@limesta If you happen to be some kind of superhuman genius, this bullet-heaven/arena battler space needs something akin to the programmable weapon crafting from Bio-Prototype that doesn't immediately result in the player defeating everything the game can throw at them immediately upon spawn. B-P is neat, but I'm not sure that an experienced player is ever challenged in that game for more then 5 waves or so. The reason that I specified superhuman genius is that AFAICT any system that rewards forethought in weapons design will be exploitable for megadamage. If you can develop an open-ended weapon crafting system that works, the world will beat a path to your Steam page.
Also, Spiff will find a way to exploit it anyway.

Right now I've just about finished tuning all of the physics off stream, and now I'm getting into UX testing, before I go full ham into the weapons system. I agree though, it seems all rouge-lites esp bullet heavens that aren't RNG heavy are exploitable with some amount of forethought and a lick of luck, and to compensate, they add unique characters that just add a little spice in the early game, to inevitably be out crafted and overtaken with the same foresight used with the other characters.
and they dont nerf the op builds and just lets us have fun

Did you ever hear the story of Darth spiff the breaker? Legend would say he could break a game to the point where he would become all but invincible. But in the end, he was destroyed by his own exploits.
Ironic.
This is the same strategy as grinding in an RPG game before taking first quest so that by the time you hit first boss you're pretty much an endgame level skill-its a very nice strat-so nice for the devs allowing people to keep stuff after restarting game ;) Lovely work Spiff, as always.

Imagine if not only was the penalty starting with 1 hp but the user was legally required to purchase and consume a copious amount of coffee.
"And THERE'S the re-roll!" has always been a perfectly balanced thing to say with absolutely no exploits.

I enjoy this game for the sole reason that the rounds last like a minute. I get like 20 minutes a night at best to game and brotato is one of the few I can play to get the best value of that time.
Reminds me of the video where a dude plays chess against an AI programmed to make the worst possible move, he maxes out the score difference by making every pawn a queen, and then forces the bot to check mate him because losing is winning.
reminds me of a silly "fox trot" comic:
the Father of the family, Roger Fox, is SUCH a lousy chess player, that even when Jason modded the game to give him 15 queens and the computer 15 pawns, Roger STILL lost!
oh, that also reminds me of a Star Trek novel, "the final reflection", where they were playing a chess-like game in a weird style where there is only ONE set of pieces, nad players take turns moving the SAME set!
so to win, you have to make the opponent "check" you, so that you capture the king on your turn!

Thanks for making a video on it, also glad to see it works on the PC version aswell.
After some further testing:
Stat linking items such as the red glove also work with this exploit.
Even some uniques such as the extra stomach work. I had a run where i got 12 hp for every fruit i picked up while at max HP.
Also this turns little elephant and cyber ball into the most broken items for they scale off luck, which you can boost into high heavens with dublicating the lucky coin using the exploit.
What system have you been using for it? I've been trying on IOS all day without luck

It wasn't the endless pursuit of power that made Spiff a real Brotato player, it was being killed by the ghost.

You should do a video on Risk of Rain 1 or 2. They both run on a similar concept to Brotato, so you can likely find plenty of perfectly balanced mechanics for you to enjoy.
I think the Brotato: Premium for mobile, which is based off the steam version has been patched as its not working, I think it could be due to it getting updated regularly with holiday events, as I also own the switch version, and that version doesn't have holiday events and it does indeed work

Because he only recycles publicly known exploits? I don't think I've ever seen him really find an exploit himself, he only researches the existing ones and then makes videos about them. First point where I noticed that is with Elden Ring where he killed the Elder Dragon with Bleed weeks after that was a known thing and made it seem like he found it out himself

The real exploit is how did you get a full set of the exact weapon you needed by wave 5? I always get stuck with garbage weapon choices.
harvesting provides extra revenue and is very powerful in the early waves to complete sets of common weapons.
there is a mechanic that makes getting the same weapon you already have more common so if you want a specific weapon don't pick up other weapons
The first two shops always provide 2 weapons each time you reroll. The game tends to offer you weapons you already have. So you should always focus on getting 6 weapons early game, and not buy items until the wave 3 shop.
Weapons have a 50% chance to be of a weapon class you already have. Pruner only has the support class, so there was a 50% chance the weapons offered would be pruners. There are not that many support weapons - hand, potato thrower, pruner

I got into brotato from you spiff, and im going back in.. also the rogue likes on mobile can be pretty good. ive been getting some checky games of slay the spire in.. and all i can think is mobile games aren't water tight and im sure there are loads of explotes somewhere.. also im on cup of tea #7 of some spiced black tea... Perfectly balanced
The previous video, with the farmer (edit) I mean lumberjack (edit) I mean explorer guy (wow my memory is terrible) and the mines, I *couldn't* make work for myself at all ever. So I wonder if I'll have any more luck with this one.
This one might require a few practice attempts but it has an infinite power ceiling where the only cost is your time and patience

A little hit for this exploit. Stat linking items like the lucky coin (+2 luck for each 1% crit) can be stacked with this exploit even tho it is "unique".
Just as the "extra stomache", which spiff stacked unknowingly in this video.
And if you want this to be easy, dont be shy to play normal untill wave 20 and just farm the boss crates for guarantee powerful items.

it's crazy how much things would've escalated if he backed out from the game repeatedly early on and got the Piggy Bank (+20% of ur materials at the start of next wave until wave 20) and the Lucky Coin (+2 luck for each 1% perma crit chance increase). Later on, combined with items that give stats every round like Grind's Magic Leaf (+3 max hp, +1 hp regen + 1% lifesteal) and Vigilante Ring (+3% dmg), the game goes batshit crazy. Even on max difficulty u can absolutely kill it
I'm pretty sure this only applied for specific things, a lot of those are just direct stat increases
the exploit is for items from crates that actually spawn in different things/initiate new mechanics, as adding a turret or whatever isn't a stat that can be subtracted off

I think the latest Skyrim-Update might be the reason for not finishing the series. The whole challenge is based on the "Gate to Sovngarde" Mod-Collection, which is down at the moment thx to Super-Todd - God, i hate him so much right now!!!

Install the Supermarket mod so your run is not up to RNGsus. Be the Bull. Buy some Vigilante rings and AOE expansions. And an HP-drain item of your choice. Also advised to buy metal detectors and the money collection ring thing.
You can literally go AFK indefinitely and the map will clear itself every second, you pick up all loot, and keep growing stronger.
That title was a lie. He didn't go AFK or reach Wave 100.

I've made a similar mistake with the "start with 1 hp" and "item that ticks health per second." It's a rookie mistake, and one I've managed to avoid ever since.

I think that's the first Brotato video Spiff did where he actually exploited the game, instead of just playing a decent build and declaring that it's broken and overpowered. And what an exploit it is, ooooh boy.

He was a wonderful content creator, much beloved for his "can you beat" series for the majority of the fallout and elder scrolls games. His apparent cause of death was complications from pancreatitis, due to his alcohol addiction. He was only 27 years old. His loss is a blow to the entire Bethesda games studio fan base, and to anyone who struggles with the demons of addiction, please... Please seek help if you can, before it is too late. I love playing with the multitask because you can hold 12 weapon but you lose 5% damage par weapons
So…where’s the part where you go afk and beat 100 waves? You looked pretty active in all the footage shown, and you only hit wave 30. Did the 100 waves you went afk for not get included?

As someone who played this game a lot at danger 5 I can only look at the screen in horror seeing spiff with -1 armor 6 dodge and -9 speed at the end of Wave 14.
