Fascinating! I was getting really worried as my '19 540i just doesn't to activate this feature as much as I thought it should. After seeing this I realize now there's much more to it than I thought! Thx Brother
I loved having my 2016 228i until it would not start after going to the bank. Codes indicated the starter was bad, replaced the starter. After some remote diagnostics, the FEM module was determined bad. However because of the chip shortage BMW has had a back order list from April 2022 until now NOV 2022 with 1100 BMW sitting a dealers waiting for these FEM modules. The starter had over 11,000 starts and possible caused a voltage surge as the code indicated. What a crap design to have cars start and stop the engine so much. Minuet fuel saving compared to the swapped parts that end up in the landfill. Sad to see this car go away, it was a fun one.
I often stay in gear and hold clutch down to prevent the start stop from working unless it’s a really long traffic light, just more wear and tear on the car! No problems with it though once car has warmed up, 4 year old Audi A3
Thanks, I was worried initially, but the weather was pretty cold last week. Also, when I checked the battery it was at 2 bars (on the trickle charger). Now need to drive it a bit later it gets warm enough and full battery to check if it works properly and look at the other mentions on the list. The other thing is that the battery doesn't charge unless the car goes above 50 mph. This is not possible in town.
venatusHD hey bro. Thanks for the kind comment :) I’m trying to think what I can do while my car is running perfect lol :) I was going to do stuff to my door mirrors, but I’m scared the glass with break :)

Yes, even my Seat Toledo, which is not even three years old, sometimes decides that the stop start system does not want to work for the most arbitrary reasons. These include the fact it decides the cabin temperature is not warm enough (!), the battery is not charged enough (usually around 80%), it is too cold outside, there is a high drain on the battery from the rear heated window or lots of other random things. Definitely not just a BMW issue!
@@mattsbeamer, yes, on the whole! It works better than the system in my previous car (the diesel Chevrolet Cruze). That was a pain as it would not even work if the Diesel Particulate Filter failed to re-generate or the oil had not been changed or there was a week in the month. etc....

Hi there inhave a e90 320d . My start stop button doesn't work all the time and nothing happens and then I get a foot panel on screen telling me to push pedal
I have a stop start fault, comes up with fault CCID 397, something to do with zero gear position adjustment or gearbox neutral calibration fault. Happened when I replaced the battery and yes I registered the new battery. Any idea how to recalibrated or reset. Car drives fine, just an annoying warning when starting it and switching off
when my BMW 2 series engages the start stop system it flashes up transmission fault, do not turn off and shifts into N. I then have to put it back into D to move on. I switch stop start off manually normally but sometimes forget. Taken to garage and they haven't a clue as fault doesn't show up on the computer, battery is fine. any ideas?
Hi, I have a bmw x1 and sometimes when the start-stop turns on while stopping on a red light and then I left the brake pedal it says that there is a problem and the car pass to parking. Then I just put it on drive and keep driving, what could it be ?
My BMW Start/Stop is saying that there is a fault but doesn’t tell me what it is on the system just says I should go to my nearest bmw garage. The car turns on fine not sure if it is a battery issue? Some morning it might take a couple more seconds to start then usual. Would you think it is a low battery amp?
Prince Maisela I’m sorry to hear of your issue. What mode do you drive in? Try it in eco mode to see if that will make it happen. It may be worth sticking a scanner onto it, to see if there are any codes.

@@marius-bogdanbizon6957 the new battery should last for a long time. My battery is from 2012 and is still going strong. I had to recharge it the other month for the first time. Hello Sash. Thanks for the questions. I believe your car is a E88. The F generation convertible is called the 2 series :). There are so many tiny little issues which can stop the start/stop working, such as low temp outside, the battery level. I made a video on start stop a year or so ago, it should be the similar on the E88. I’m not a big fan of start/stop so I manually turn mine off each time lol. But since I live in Moscow it turns itself off when it’s cold :)
