The Father of Dragon Ogres is Krakenrock the Black. Krakenrock is the beast that The Slayer of Kings was stuck in, Archaons sword. It’s not very surprising that a being like him survived the worlds end.
Also in the Old World, Dragon Ogres and Dragons were the only primordial beings living on a frozen planet until the Old Ones show up. I don’t care if this isn’t in the battletome it’s part of their lore. Not something to be forgotten. Old lore isn’t retconned because GW decides not to include it

Krakenrock didn't just live through the world's end: he fucking _slept_ through it. Then he woke up, realized most of his kind were gone, and somehow reproduced more (how he/they managed to relearn how to do so after their pact with the gods is a mystery to me; perhaps the end of the original world rendered the catch to the bargain null and void).

They’re like the eternal creature: they’ve existed before the creation of the first realm, in the first realm and also during the destruction of the first realm and now they were present in the creation of the sigmar realms and are still in the sigmar realms.
The only other creature like that are the dragons, zoats, Fimir, dreaming ones, the sleeper etc all no longer exist.

Was so happy when they were fused back with the Beasts of chaos

    Just thought of this.
The dragon ogors join the gavespawn because if they can make Morghur the shadow gave into another chaos god he could possibly(Maybe) break the pact the dragon ogors had with the original 4. The dragon ogors would be free and possibly worship Morghur and make him an even stronger god possibly leading to a conflict with the other 4, or just toppling the great horned rat.
I know slanesh is still imprisoned by the elves but he/she/it is bound to break free

Shaggoth looks like one of the best wizards in the game, points wise. Working on a conversion this week. I'm excited about it.

Thank you for doing this video. As someone who's been a big fan of the Stormcast Eternals, the notion of a Chaos race with strong ties to thunder and lightning almost felt like a whole in the setting's lore. The information presented here clears that up for me.

QUESTIONS?! #1 Can Sigmars lightning , or the Stormcast be afflicted by a Shogoths ability to control the storms and, heal through lightning?#2 How do you think the Dragon Ogres see Archaon? Since he wields a sword that belonged to the biggest oldest Dragon Ogre, and Archaon doesn’t really respect or is ruled by any chaos power .#3 Can Sigmar steal the soul of a Shagoth or Dragon Ogre If it’s slain, similarly to how he steals other souls from Chaos warriors to turn into Stormcast?.#4 Can Nagash use his Spirit hosts to steal the soul of a Shogoth or Dragon Ogre, to turn into some powerful Dragon Ogre wraith?. Thanks Doug , I appreciate all the wonderful content you create, always insightful and inspiring 😎🤘

      1. No, sadly. Too complicated to rule I assume, so let's assume they use their own 'plot-lightning'. I think the Shaggoth's healing lightning is described as 'eldritch' lightning...
      2. I doubt they even know - apart from Krakenrock all the current Dragon Ogors were spawned in the mortal realms, so probably don't know anything about the old world stuff. I suspect Archaon returned to the mortal realms long after Krakenrock has gone into hibernation (or was killed, I don't think the battletome mentions him except as a progenitor legend).
      3. I haven't seen any idea that Sigmar has any claim over any soul that isn't human - although I can't swear to that!
      4. I'd love to see that! Maybe you could just use a ghostly dragon ogor model as a spirit host?

"Another age turns and once more, the world is hung in the balance. Once again, my brethren must fight and die for a cause that means little to us. Long ago we made our decision and there is no changing it. But the long years have worn me, as the tide shatters the shore, and sometimes I grow weary of the endless battle. What is more, I now wonder if it truly was our decision. I’ve seen enough to know how manipulative the Architect of Fate can be. I suppose it matters not. In truth, the only time I truly feel alive is when I face a foe capable of killing me."
    Enrinsorga, Dragon Ogor Shaggoth

Nice video Doug. I love the thunderscorn, I have had an army of them since 8th edition and am stoked to see more of them on the table. And one of the things I like the most about them too is their hatred of chaos while still serving them. One thing that might have made your video better would have been more thunderscorn pictures.

Question of the curious - What of the other beasts? The monsters and other creatures that associate with the Beasts of Chaos?

This mountain sized Shaggoth could it be the first Dragon Ogre from Warhammer Fantasy?
(I'm not talking about Kolek. I know he was killed during the End Times)

Didn’t the dragon ogres exchange immortality for infertility? At least in the old world I thought that was the deal.

Are beasts of chaos cannibalistic or man-eaters? Cannibalistic means eating each other, isnt it? I thought they like eating humans and humanoids rather than each other. Especially dragon ogors and bullgors.

in that part I was specifically referring to the warherd we explored in the last video, where its mentioned that cygor and ghorgons grow to their size from eating their own kin :)
