Video output and support is handled by the console itself instead of being left at the discretion of the developers. Id est, the XBox is capable of 1080i/1080p video by itself. I think they probably got rid of the ability to download movies to the Hard-Drive because it would take up way too much space. I mean, the average DVD is 3.5 GB, and the XBOX's hard-disk is only, get this, 10 GB! 2 of which are taken up by the dashboard anyway!
The funny thing is the transition sounds from one menu screen to the other ARE IN MORE SYNC vs the final release. Was this an official beta or did you make it? I absolutely LOVE it
The video itself has been roaming around the internet for years now, albeit silent. It was made in 2000. All I did was take the sounds from a retail Xbox and map them to the events that happen in this video, so the reason why the sounds fit so well is more than likely because they made the sounds around the same time they did this prototype dashboard. They just never needed to make new ones when the dashboard was redesigned.
