- Some say there are no guilty pleasures.... just like what you like. We here at the HM outpost can mostly get behind that, but we shall see what the Metallurgists are comfortable with showing in front of a live audience!
We are once again joined by Myke C-Town, who has agreed to share his secret audio shame with all of you as well! So what are those albums that you have mostly tucked away from the prodding eyes and judgements of friends, family and internet legions? Bring out your dead!

That mimosa city is by Fonta Flora. Great beer. Western NC native here. Love Heavy Metallugry.
Thanks for that Joshua!! You're too kind!
I felt like I was watching an episode of The Dark Path here, but I didn't have to look at my stupid face so that rules. Big ups to Moonspell and Tiamat!
We love your stupid face. Cant wait to get you back on the show!! Be ready to answer the bat signal!
@@HeavyMetallurgy Any time, duder. Let's rank the Kovenant discography.
Going on record here, I like AMERICAN PSYCHO and FAMOUS MONSTERS. Jerry Only, Allen and I.
Sure it's called The MISFITS, but I dont really interpret them that way.
The MISFITS is Glenn Danzig. Whether people want to admit that or not. The guy was a brilliant song writer, his lyrics go beyond Rock music. Michael Graves sang melodic, silly power pop metal, and that's fine. I liked it. Its O.K. to just " drive fast and jam out".
There is a season for all things.
And I enjoyed the hell out of Myke praising Rocky George for being the metal super hero he is. Suicidal Tendencies were my hero's in the early 90's.
I have to respectfully disagree on some points here. I understand where you're coming from, however, Misfits have always had that 50s' rockabilly, psychobilly, Oi! , and even doo-wop elements. With Graves they simply broadened/explored those elements more (just like some later pub rock bands, UK 77 bands or US Ramones had in many ways). In the same way it can be said about many bands, like Black sabbath is only the Ozzy era etc..For me it depends on how the band adapts in eras. P.S: I also love the 2 Graves era albums and I think his voice was amazing for that unique style.
I've said a number of times that if I ever receive a speeding ticket it will be from listening to Crimson Ghost 😆
Lost my taste for horror movies but I loved the Night of the Demons flicks as a kid. I should give them a go again sometime.
I lost my taste for them as well. By and large, modern horror is all the same. I prefer sci-fi and fantasy. Thanks fo watching!
Too much to say for a youtube comment. Unforgettable Fire was a nice surprise at the end.
The reason I thought Rebel Extravaganza was cool when it came out was probably the reason some didn't like it (I was sick of viking, medieval Norse stuff and welcomed them embracing a colder more modern aesthetic).
Moonspell gets attention in the Portuguese communities outside of Portugal. Actaully saw them at a free festival once in Toronto and they were the only kind of heavy music playing. They ahve transcended metal in a way (I don't mean by taht that they're great or anything, just that they have managed to cross the gap and appeal to people outside of their chosen genre boundaries).
Great episode.
Great subject to cover! you all showed a bunch of albums from my collection and at the end of the day we all hear albums differently what one person thinks is a turd is someone else's masterpiece personally I love Jugulator and the x factor and I dig John Bush era anthrax!
The remixed / remastered version of Grand Declaration Of War vinyl from Season of Mist, sounds absolutely incredible.
I've had many folks tell me this and it's on my list to eventually procure a copy at some point. Thanks for the heads up and for watching!
Great subject. Shine some light on albums that deserve a listen. Sometimes I think it just becomes trendy to hate an album and a lot people haven't actually given a chance. When I was younger, I'd avoid albums with a bad reputation, but these days it makes me curious to check it out.
Moonspell deserves way more attention. Fabulous discography all across
I agree. Wolfheart is still a favorite.
I jumped out of their discography pretty early on. I think I made it to Sin/Picado. They started getting pretty gothy.
@@HeavyMetallurgy It's ''Pecado'' - the way you mispell it, though, within a cuisine context, may mean ''minced meat'' in Portuguese and that's quite funny. But i definitely agree with you - Wolfheart and Irreligious were quite good albums and then they spent years on end on the goth trail. They still are but i guess since Memorial they regained a bit more of metallic edge, and managed to make a string of interesting albums. They've found excellence in predictability - when you play safe, you ought to be damn good at it, or everyone will start laughing at the emperor's new clothes.
Speaking of hockey songs, Misfits recorded a song about the New York Rangers that was on a comp Short Music for Short People. My understanding it was actually supposed to be used by the Rangers but there was a falling out.
I used to have that comp. Was that the song Judd Nelson was singing in The Breakfast Club when he’s running down the hallway trying to distract the principal? 😆
Super fun topic tonight, fellas! Fun to hear takes that run counter to the prevailing opinions.
We try!! Thanks for watching!
Killer episode. Again. Love these shows. Great seeing some love for late 80s venom. I was a huge fan from 83, started hardcore colleting venom records back in 84. I have to admit Iwas a little disapointed back then but hell, those albums are Great. Greeting from Sweden.
Hello and thanks for watching!! Yeah, those later Venom albums are far from great/the classic era of the band, but they're definitely fun.
Fuck yes!
The Elder is a stellar masterwork.
It purely decimates. I've loved that album ever since I got it for Christmas in November of 1981.
Tony F. Corpse
(Post Mortem Superstar)
Rebel Extravaganza and K.F.D both kill too!
Grand Declaration Of War is undeniable. One of Mayhem's best along with Wolf's Lair Abyss e.p.
'Accept' was named after a Chicken Shack album (1970ish). However I like to really think about it as coming from "Accept Metal or Die". South of Heaven is definitely not "unpopular". It's many fans favorite-it's unique and killer. Rebel Extravaganzza is an amazing sick industrialized bleak beast of a machine. Iron Fist rules. In the Shadows Rules. King Diamond-the Graveyard and Voodoo rule.
Just placed an order for Destroyer of Worlds. I was not aware Bathory recorded a hockey song. Hopefully there is an Andy Moog reference.
The Hockey song is NOT a selling point, but other than that, some good songs on this album. It's transitional for sure.
Thoroughly enjoy Eternal Hails. Love the doomy elements added to it. For me , much better than their last few and definitely enough to make me want to check out anything new by them.
Bought the Elder when it came out . Loved it then and love it now. Still like Unmasked too.
Don't know if it will be brought up but I enjoy Paradise Lost - One Second. I remember a lot of hate around it when it came out.
Terrible production but I think Death Magnetic is a great album. Never cared for St Anger but I love the Loads so there's that.
Venom...and you'll have those who go on about how the band could barely play on their first album. Just proof we all have our taste and it's not always based on how talented the band is and no matter how elite it makes someone feel to say this , we aren't wrong for liking what we like.
Oh and I love Swansong. I like it better than anything they've ever done. That's just me. And I agree with you Marty , Heartworm on is nothing like the earlier stuff . Might have been more accepted under another name.
Waiting for someone to tell me I'm wrong 😃
*Heartwork
Lights Camera rules!
I struggle with that album. Some cool songs, but I'm so wrapped up by their excellent debut.
Very fun episode. But my god! Next time pick actually controversial “bad” albums. Hahaha. Most of the stuff you all showed I like and never felt were considered bad albums. Some the goth/black metal albums that were shown I’m not familiar with.
Dokken - Dysfunctional, Motley Crue - self titled, Overkill - I hear Black, Anthrax - Sound of White Noise, Cradle Of Filth - Thornography, Queensryche - Promise Land, Cinderella - Heartbreak Station, Iron Maiden- Virtual 11, Megadeth - Youthanaisa, etc. these aren’t just albums I like….I freaking Love! So I got you ALL beat! 😂😆😉 I could keep going but that just gives you taste. So next bring some real controversially bad shit! You all brought B list maybe a few C listers. Hahahaha.
It’s all in good fun guys. ( p.s Marty showed Illud.) that’s class! That record has 4 fantastic Morbid Angel songs on it. Time will show how actually good the record is. Cold Lake is getting love now. Illud will be in same boat in probably another ten years.
How is Cold Lake getting "love" these days? The world truly is broken. Haha. And yes.... you win. I hear Black? White noise? Virtual VI? Ack! Thanks for watching!
@@HeavyMetallurgy Cold Lake isn’t necessarily getting love. I guess I should have been more specific. People are saying its not as bad as they remembered. Your love for U2 Rem, Cure makes perfect sense man! You love atmospheric black metal and bands like the Killing Joke and Fields of the Nephilim. So when you said you like old U2 I was like cool! Makes perfect sense. No shame.
It’s why it makes perfect sense I love Traditional 70s/80s AOR. Boston, Kansas, Foreigner, Journey, 38 Special, RTZ, Stan Bush, even a bit of Kenny Loggins. That full on anthemic, cheesy, full of syrup pop rock stuff. I spent my elementary years in the 80s watching tons of movies. We had HBO and my parents took me to see films they wanted to see not kid films so a lot of that shit was in soundtracks and it’s not far from bands like AC/DC Van Halen, Def Leppard etc my entry level bands, big anthemic stadium rock/metal. All our tastes make sense to who we are. It’s all connected.
Great show. (GodOvGrind)
Thanks for that!
Lol this guy is still buying Darkthrone stuff... but hearing Alan say yooknoo 600 kept the content engaging.
I know. I'm a glutton for punishment. I keep hoping that they'll turn a corner and I'll be excited again with them sonically. Hasn't happened yet.
Illud Divinum Insanus its one of the funniest albums i ever heard, and i will defend it for that alone. Too Extreme makes me laugh everytime
It is sadly humerous. There are a handful of crushers on it. I was SOOOOO psyched to have Vincent back. Hearing the Manson influence on half the album.... it was like someone shit in my cereal. Thanks for watching!
Wait, death magnetic and the black album are the opposite of unpopular. They were Billboard#1 debuts. They probably sold more than every other album you guys are showing combined. Unpopular?
Popular in the music world at large. Popular with underground metal heads? Post Black Album Metallica seems to be a dirty word to the die hards. This was my thought process anyway in pulling that album. Thanks for watching.
@@HeavyMetallurgy by the way i always wanted to thank you for defending Metallica. People get silly and forget everything they've done for metal. They are the goat in my opinion. From a 50 year old metalhead who grew up on this music.
Fun show! Myke is a great and knowledgeable additional host. A lot of good albums discussed...I like many of these and think non-musical reasons hurt the rep of a good portion of them.
Some notes....
Power & the Glory is a very enjoyable Saxon album. Better than Denim and Wheels by a good measure for me. (Lionheart is the best Saxon of the dozen I've heard.) Seventh Star is enjoyable.
Fighting the World FOREVER. Death Magnetic is 70% enjoyable, but the Black Album is just a bit too tedious, though the ballads and Through the Never are good..
Rebel Extravaganza > Nemesis, though I prefer Shadowthrone, Now Diabolical, Volcano, and Nero. Self titled is dull, but has moments.
Carcass's Swansong and Kiss's Elder are both quite good, though Carnival of Souls is toilet ready. Graveyard and House of God are the only King Diamond albums I don't dig. Time and 9 are my favorite post-80s Mercyful Fate
GRAND DECLARATION OF WAR FOREVER. the recent remix sounds MUCH better---far beefier guitars and a better drum sound, especially the toms. Check it out.
Morbid Angel Domination is my favorite by them and all time great death metal. Superb variety and deep pocket grooves and rolling 6/8s..
Paradise Lost is the #1 best Cirith Ungol. The closing three are their best three songs ever.
Mike C's cat is fabulous. Really beautiful. Male? Female?
Chloe rules! Thanks for watching.
@@HeavyMetallurgy So it should be female, I guess. Lovely. On the other hand I quite enjoyed the show. It was not too dissimilar from the rare stuff show few weeks ago.
Night of the Demons🤘🏼 Great to C Mike
Myke's always a blast to have on!
1:56:05 🤣🤣🤣 1:59:15
haha. Thanks for watching!
Judas Priest Turbo > Black Album? seriously?
It's a close race! Haha. I think the Black Album is just too overplayed at this point for me. So many hits. Thanks for watching.
39:27 Well then you're wrong
Everyone hears and reacts to the same piece of music differently. Just the way it is. Thanks for watching.
The whole attitude of someone being wrong over their taste is starting to really get under my skin. I may think a certain album is fantastic and everyone else can think it's dogshit, guess what , I'm not wrong. Like what you like. I'd prefer to see people have different opinions than for everyone to think the same damn thing.
@@Protometal66 I have to draw the line for certain opinions. Mr. Lazy Eye stepped over that line. Yes he's wrong. 100% wrong. Deal with it. I'm not obligated to be "mr. nice guy" and respect everyone's opinions. F that
@@TotalMeltdown2 You sound angry over someone's opinion 😂. I disagree with him too although there are better Metallica albums in my opinion. Regardless you don't have to respect it....still doesn't make him wrong. As Marty said , we all hear things differently . You are entitled to your opinion.
Oh and his name is Alan.
