Great video, keep up the good work. I have a 2022 Lariat powerboost. Bought it for the 7.2kw in the bed. It powers everything on our travel trailer when camping. Fuel mileage got noticeably better once I hit 10,000 miles. When I’m not towing I regularly see 24-26 mpgs which is a mix of city and hwy
What rear end ratio do you have?
Powerboost owner here. I ordered mine to pull and power our camper (and home as needed). Wasn't about fuel economy. It was about the 7.2kw generator.
Mine a 2021 and only used to pull and power our camper. 3yr old now and 25k miles of which 20k pulling camper. Perfect.
Good review, the best part of the powerboost is the ability to get the 7.2kw generator which you never mentioned. I’m surprised you didn’t because you were a camper guy yourself.
2023 Powerboost owner here. Your 0-30/60 mph figures would make the PB incredibly better if you added times in SPORT mode
Yep, I’ve gotten 5.7 on my 24.
Yeah those times are a lot slower than they should be. Mine does 6.2 sec in normal on 2 wheel drive while spinning at launch.
Nope… why do all of that.. get get a GMC Denali ultimate with 6.2l. End of story. It’s silly how Ford has to place turbos and batteries in their vehicles to get performance. 😢. NATURALLY ASPIRATED ALL DAY FOR ME.
@Primus697 good for you.
Great review JB! Do you think you could do 24 3.0 Duramax vs 24 Powerboost review/MPG comparison?
Ford's been crediting back the powerboost extra cost all year now. Might not apply to those lowest end trim, but the ones I've been pricing end up with the ecoboost, powerboost and v8 all the same net cost.
Plus the powerboost means you get the 2kw inverter standard and can option the 7.2kw inverter. That's my target. But oh, I wish I could get the powerboost with the v8, or ideally with the 7.3L in an F250!
What an awesome video. As always. That's a significant increase in mpg for the powerboost. That's an extra hundred miles of range per tank. Both nice trucks. I love my powerboost and can't believe it's not more popular.
If they could put a powerboat in a diesel. Then that would be a game changer to the RV world. Pull over anywhere for a good night sleep with AC
I’ve had my 2022 F150 XLT Powerboost for two years and I agree with @damnsteelers, I have 15K miles on my Powerboost now and am regularly seeing 24-26mpg. However, initially I didn’t notice much difference between normal mode and eco mode. I definitely notice a difference now, but that could just be because I’m more familiar with the truck. Also, I have to keep my hwy speed at 65-67 anymore and it negates much of the mpg savings. Sport mode does use the electric motor differently than normal mode and Locking the rear diff helps too. ;)
I'm still happy with the 10th gen F150. I've owned 2 4.6L 10th gen F150. One 2wd and one 4x4 crew cab(should have kept that one. I inherited a 2wd 10th gen with the 4.2L V6 that just refuses to die.
I think they made the hybrid with 430 hp and 570 tq do to the fact that the hybrid weighs a good amount more than the Ecoboost which has 400 hp and 500 tq, so it need the extra hp to compensate for the extra weight or else it would've been slower.
Like these reviews sir! Fits your style! You are spot on with your review.
I put 30K on a used 22 Powerboost crew with 6.5 bed in XLT High. I wanted an F150 mid with heavy duty payload package, but I couldn't find one used.
Observations: this used one had several expensive features which rob payload and are overpriced in my book...20 inch chrome rims, Fx4 and big moonroof. Those options are over $3800. I would never have optioned a new truck like that. Only 1340 pound payload so very poor.
What i am surprised that i like are the power and torque, the smooth ride, 360 cameras, large tow mirrors, mpgs and something i didnt think i would use... the 7.2 kw inverter. Last year our rural area lost power for more than 48 hours for three different occasions. We powered the house with this darned truck!
No issues with it. If it had a 1900 pound payload i would put a used slide in pop up on this truck and enjoy the remote power capabilities. Great vehicle for how i use it now but i would trade for a nice F150 HDPP if i could for that payload.
Good job👍👍
Thanks!
Nice comparison video! I have recently purchase a 2024 F150 XLT Supercrew Powerboost 4x4, 6.5'box . I do a fair amount of mixed driving, so the hybrid part of the drive system benefits me. The main reason for the Powerboost purchase for me was the 7.2KW of power in the bed of the truck. I will be using the truck quite a bit for camping and overland uses in the summer and fall. No having to carry a generator and extra fuel or a solar generator and solar panels is a game changer for me. I do have to agree that the Powerboost version of the F150 does seem to be quieter vs the Ecoboost versions. My neighbor has a 2020 F150 lariat Supercrew 4x4 5.5' box and it is noticeable louder in the cab of his truck.
Thanks! I am posting the first part of my tow video for a ford f150 PowerBoost tomorrow morning and I’m glad you bought the longer box/PowerBoost! That is truly a “heavy” half ton and the stability is👌🏾
Love the reviews, keep it up man!
Thanks for the comment!
I bet the battery in the powerboost is what’s creating a little extra sound deadening
I got a powerboost you want a fast 0 to 60 put sport mode that truck should be as fast as a raptor
I have the max tow package not sure but I think the straight 3.5 can tow more not sure why but my truck is rated for 14000 pounds
yes less think 11,200
You are starting to get fairly decent at these reviews.....
Sometime time you know what you are talking about….Sometime You don’t. Keep working on your review’s
They were not in sport mode this was eco mode
I still like the 5.0
Lol😂. These trucks can’t touch the GMC SIERRA DENALI 6.2 in 0-60… jokes. Jokes I tell you😂😢.
It's ridiculous, uh, laughable? The higher trim levels of the F150 are $70,000 - $100,000. The Lariat starts at $65,000. Can't touch one for under $70,000. If I had a garage full of money, I wouldn't spend $70,000 on a pick-up truck. That's just stupid. When you look at the lowest trim level, it's still expensive. I did a quick build on the Ford website. An XL 4x4, regular cab with steel wheels, vinyl seats and no carpet. $42,075. What??? Come on!!!!! That's a $28,000 vehicle. The absolute best value and looks for your money is the STX. Who needs all the expensive add-on with the Platinum or the King Ranch. I think they are a 'Look at me, I'm the best' trucks. Waste of money.
While I agreed that these trucks are very expensive these days everything else is as well. The average new vehicle cost has jumped significantly in recent years. It’s not just these it’s everything. They are just following the rate of inflation for new vehicles. I’ll tell you what though I absolutely love my 24 King Ranch. Waste of money or not, it’s the nicest vehicle I have owned.
Local dealer has 6 lariats for 59-61k. Still expensive but well under your 70k mark.
At those gas millage numbers just get a v8 instead of these bad options.
These engine options are the future as it stands right now sadly, not to mention the ecboost 3.5 has been around for quite a long time and has had the kinks worked out so
Dang at least learn how to boost launch it and turn traction off lmaoo
