    I appreciate your review, no BS. I have ordered the 1301 Tactical with pistol grip Mod 2 in Gray, will be my first "tactical cool" shotgun and I'm 60. I hope Beretta sees this review and they hang their head in shame for not having a better foregrip, good points you made. Having to zip tie a pressure switch to a $1900 (that's what I paid) is crazy! Would like to see some range time comparisons between these two before you part ways with your M4, it looks so badass.

I hope you enjoy it and have fun with it! I wish gun companies would listen more to their customers. It blows my mind how bad of designs some of these companies put out and the lack of desire to improve. Most companies don’t take the civilian market seriously so they hardly listen to us. Yeah definitely some ridiculousness going on with these guns. Unfortunately it’s hard for me to get range footage,testing, and fun on camera because of the lack of free time I have for that. I really like the m4 but it’s way too heavy and long, which is why I’m switching to a 300 blk small gun. Sorry I won’t be able to get some footage for you.

    I've owned both, and sold the Beretta 1301 Tactical Marine version due to the "feel". It was lighter, had more plastic parts, and didn't feel like it would last a really hard course. As a retired Marine I know that it passed the USMC Qual Criteria, so I kept the Benelli M4. After all, Marines can figure out how to destroy a Ball Bearing in a Padded Room, and the M4 Passed. Not only that, but we figured out a way to add an Additional Round more than Beretta Intended by Carrier Loading.

    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  3 месяца назад +6

      @@roostershooter76 Benelli is the best shotgun no doubt. It’s use in the military and how reliable it is. I still do prefer the weight savings because I’m a civilian and don’t need a “bomb proof” shotgun. Benelli was built for war, beretta was more a civilian tactical shotgun that can be used for combat. Although it’s plastic i think it’s still plenty reliable and wont break under most conditions. Both the beretta and benelli can be loaded 7+2 with the extra round on the lifter. Can’t go wrong with either in my opinion. I don’t think most civilians need benelli durability but I understand wanting the reliability for peace of mind. For me I benefit more from the weight savings. Hope that m4 is working out for you. Thank you for your service! 🫡🤝🏼

    Solid review; I can’t really compare the two as I only have the 1301 m2 in tactical form. One thing I wish beretta had done was added a bit of a heat shield for c-clamping that barrel starts to scream after about 15-20 rounds and can get toasty for sure.
    1301 love the Lift when feeding; it’s just amazing and a huge fan of the new style trigger. Out of the box can run 7+1 and last a while without getting too tired (light weight) . Though I wish I had gone with the standard stock for that kickback feature that reduces felt recoil by 40% or so. Hindsight I suppose

      Thanks a lot for that reply, the M4 Pro is what I was looking at. At the same time , the 1301 Mod2 is very attractive for few reasons . My issues with the 1301 is the price , and the long term reliability. The price is getting to close to the M4 which make choosing the 1301 harder , as I see the M4 as a superior product IMHO . the long term reliability and longitivtiy of the M4 is really what makes me lean towards the M4… I’m a sucker for any product ( any ) that was put thru it’s pace by the military and has a track record. Judging from the various reviews, the manual of arms of the 1301 is definitely a plus for the 1301… the M4 isn’t that intuitive to use. It might be for someone who trained with it in the marines for example, but for the average Joe like me, it wasn’t. Cheers 🥂

    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  16 дней назад +1

      @ No problem. Depending on where you get it the 1301 would be hundreds of dollars less. Benelli m4 is superior for durability and reliability for a combat shotgun. I understand people’s desire for proven products, I’m that way too for most things. I like the beretta a little better because it’s lighter. Only real difference of manual arms for the 1301 is that it has the pro lifter which puts the lifter up out of the way which is really nice but other than that I don’t think it’s much different. Take care man 🤝🏼

      @@justaguyandhisdog9328 I recommend aimpoint t2, p2, Trijicon rmr hd or Rcr. H2 is fine if you don’t care about NV settings and want to save like 70$. I personally don’t recommend holosun products, especially on 12 gauge shotguns. They’re not very durable or reliable in my opinion and the recoil impulse on shotguns is hard on optics. I also don’t recommend the original Rmr because of having to take the sight off to change the battery and the small window size. I’d be happy with any of those choices I mentioned. If you plan on taking the shotgun outside in any bad weather like rain, snow, mud etc, I recommend a closed emitter like the t2, rcr or p2. If your just keeping it inside for home defense or range trips, I recommend the rmr hd because of the slightly bigger window size and that your not looking through 2 pieces of glass. The rmr hd has been difficult for people to get their hands on due to it being out of stock. Cowitness or picatinny are both fine. Picatinny sits your optic up higher so your irons aren’t in your optic sight picture as much. You’ll only see a little of your front sight. This also brings your face a little higher on the stock. If you have the mesa tactical stock, you can adjust the cheek riser higher to bring your eyes inline with the red dot without adjusting your cheek/chin weld. I don’t think co witnessing or iron sights are necessary with reliable optics like I mentioned. But it is nice to have your cheek on the gun a little more and if you’re into backup iron sights, your irons are right there if your optic fails. Or you could just take your optic off if it fails. T2 is very expensive, but is a versatile option to harvest it off your shotgun if you wanted to. You will have to remove the rear iron sight if mounting the t2/h2 to the beretta. My overall favorite combination would be the rmr Hd on a scalarworks cowitness mount for home defense and range use. For out in the elements use, probably the t2 with a scalarworks cowtiness mount then rcr or p2. Can’t go wrong with either of these options. Just some stuff to think about. Hope this helps.

    is there any real purpose for making a tactical shotgun have interchangeable choke? Nice to have the option I guess but why use anything other than the good old all-around IC choke?

    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  Месяц назад

      @@arlynmanning9505Not really in my opinion. Unless you wanted to expand or tighten your group size for whatever reason. The IC has slight constriction. I think the ic is plenty fine for tactical applications. Changing chokes is more for hunting.

    It's wild how both of these don't come with better mlok mounting options for how expensive they are. The Beretta is particularly disappointing because their stock and handguard are AWFUL man. The Aridus and SGA makes it much more durable while keeping the same lightweight.

    • @GearAndGuns
      @GearAndGuns  2 месяца назад +1

      @@PandemicGameplay I agree. I was extremely disappointed with both of these supposed “new and improved” hand guards. Very lazy and terrible engineering. Beretta on the mod 2 just stole the same crappy hand guard off the a300 patrol and benelli made some ridiculous screw in picatinny sections on a short hand guard. Briley did a much better job on their hand guards. There is no reason at all that there should be other companies with sole purposes to specifically make aftermarket products to bring the shotgun up to the standard it should’ve been in when it was designed in the factory. I’ve seen a lot of this happening recently and it’s aggravating having to spend more money to optimize a build. I think it’s because companies don’t truly care and don’t take the citizen market seriously because they know people will buy it anyway. I actually like the mesa tactical pistol grip stock. The traditional field stock is awful I agree. Sling point is useless, only cool thing is you can install the kick off system. I had the sga on a mossberg 590 I used to own and that was a great stock.

    • @PandemicGameplay
      @PandemicGameplay 2 месяца назад +1

      @GearAndGuns I was debating on the mesa tactical vs replacing the stock with the SGA I went the traditional route, but i could see getting a mod 2 with the mesa setup and saving some money, it gets expensive real fast
