I think the aps is definitely done for mostly on power shift. The amount of projectiles I've blocked in the span of 5 seconds was more than enough to destroy it. Three seems a little much for a nerf. It'd be cool if they reduce the cooldown time.
Yeah I agree, on powershift, this thing is getting fried and it looks as if it might actually make matches closer / more difficult for people that do or don't run APS medium now, which I don't think is directly bad, but I agree that 40% health is a little wild, maybe too much idk...
@@THiiXY but for competitive I think it's fine. I wonder if we can pick it up and place it at full health. That's usually what I do if I run aps. Or just so people don't spam the aps like that it would be cool if it had a sort of healing to it. Where if you pick it up you can place it down but it won't be at full health unless you let it cooldown.
W patch Embark! I haven't tested knives yet so idk what they will be like, but the APS nerf is a W! You can still use it in smaller team fights normally but it will stop it from being able to soak up an infinite amount of concentrated utility in modes like power shift. APS is not dead.
Yeah I wouldn't say APS is dead, I just think that it's going to be very helpful when pushing defences especially when teams are very organised, they will now have to switch up what happens once it's been disabled, you could get two mediums to run them but very costly for what it does now. I think it's going to be interesting for sure! Also the throwing knives are pretty crazy right now lol, I was frying on PowerShift aha

Yeah it's definitely going to switch up a lot of the defence ways of holding, I think that shields are very present right now so they could resort to shielding, but that does add a lot of hidden value to light, if they expend their frag grenades to use a glitch grenade etc, this isn't a bad direction but I'd need to see how it plays out in game first!
the problem with the aps nerf is that it was the only thing keeping grenade launcher spam in power shift at bay because you can have like 2 meds with that gun do nothing but shoot the point and anyone on it is just gonna die.
Yeah it's a double-edged sword, but I will say that I think PowerShift games are going to be a lot more "close" now if you do or don't run those things, does that mean it will be better? I don't know honestly, because on one half it's fun to have a strong fortification with the APS, but on the other half it sucks that the APS before was such a valuable tool that it was king of the entire plan.
@@THiiXY The main problem is the existence of grenade launchers in that mode, because if one is even in the loby it can control the platform from a distance. witch makes things like APS needed to even be on the platform. otherwise if we take them out of the mode you have no real need for APS, because yes while glitch is valuable for a mode like power shift they all ready spawn on the map and they don't NEED to be in slot. and things like frag have a 2 use then cool down. so it cant be spammed unless its planned by the other team.
it wasnt mentioned in the patch notes but they finally fixed the nvidia overlay and shadowplay bugs! also i think if embark continue to nerf turtling/ defending, the cashout mode needs to have some rework to reward defensive play. especially since stealing last second is gonna be so much easier now that aps can be shredded through without line of sight.

Thanks for letting me know :) Also I agree, it’s not fully on that path yet but if further nerfs are given to defences then its definitely going to be interesting on how teams will defend on cashout, one of my ideas was to actually play around the cashout instead of on it when defending, so people can’t even get near it in the first place.
@@THiiXY yeah that is a possible adaptation atm however it gets really annoying if while youre fighting off site another team steals the cashout/ cleans up after you win/ lose the fight with the other team.
@@THiiXYthis is sort of how my team plays, we work on more open cashouts and hold a perimeter. works pretty well for us but sometimes a very hard rush stacked team will break through one of us and manage to make a good fight for the point.
LOL yeah I'm not a throwing knife main, but I use it a fair amount when playing with friends, and I can tell you now that it feels waaaaay cleaner now, just need to get used to the faster projectile
I play console and the turrets genuinely do more damage to me then players. Like im dropping 20-30 kill games shmovin like a madman, dodgin bullets. dying like 2 times to a player and 4 times to turrets😂😂😂
@THiiXY I feel like the healing beam should be also used to heal the aps and turret. If there damaged considering the nerfs but just a thought thats all lol. But the catch is that only YOUR healing beam can heal only YOUR APS or Turrret not anyone elses and vice versa to make it fair.
Hmmm.. I actually don't mind the idea of this! I think it furthers the "support" opportunity for Medium and could help lights slightly by giving medium something to do so the lights can punish... yeah it sounds good but I'd need to play it, Good one :D
I just want to put it out into the ether that the KS-23 shotgun should have iron sights and a head shot multiplier. Hoping for next patch wish it was this one.
@@THiiXY so far i myself have gotten the ks to white and a 149 dmg headshots would 100% have big power and would change any firefight in your favour even getting one off in a fight with more than one opponent and they have to retreat to heal up unless its two heavy's charging you then your done for

Thank you embark for that XP boost, I went from 42 to 96 over the weekend and did the math (in just the contracts) thinking I might make it but then saw the last 10 are twice as much XP as regular tiers. Now I’m comfortable with making it with a lot of time to spare

Jeez, with the CL-40 becoming somewhat of the meta this ranked season, was not expecting this much of a nerf to the ADS. Not exactly sure why you mentioned it as underrated as it's definitely seen an uprising this season compared to the past's. Though I am playing in Asia servers, so the meta may have not caught up in the NA / EU regions yet.
I’ve seen people put the CL-40 as “decent” but even then I say that’s under rated personally, if you have good movement then it’s very strong, especially now with this change. I agree thought that APS nerf is wild

I’ve had games where my APS has blocked shot after shot after shot. I’m actually pretty okay with this change on paper, though I hope it’s not too harsh of a nerf! Looking forward to some buffs eventually
the drip i use for medium is the pink welder helm, the goth jacket, pink gloves, i switch from the skirt in the goth drawer pack to black cargos, and of course the pink boots. peak drip
We dont need no more nerfs for heavy besides goo gun. Strongly suggest embark to bring back melee when using mesh. Also enough buffing the lights please they already have advantage for snipers daggers and throwing knives we dont need anymore 😅
Was talking with a bud of mines a while back about the aps and how annoying it gets dealing with it. I thunk up an idea of them adding some kind of internal cooldown between when it blocks something like 3 or 5 seconds. This change definitely is something.
Yeah I mean the mesh shield change wasn't overly bad, but it's definitely saved me a few times, they call it a bug fix but I disagree, hence why I call this a nerf I guess aha
For real. The ability to melee was the ONLY defense against turrets if you’re a flamethrower heavy. We also can’t evade and run away like lights/medium so it’s a heavy’s only defense
Alright I think we reverse this to 20% and see how that goes, then we nerf the medium turret ability. I could see a range decrease making it a lot less oppressive.
They. Literally. Just. Buffed. The. Throwing. Knifes. You. Absolute. Buffoon. Also TTK has stayed pretty damn consistent since release, so they very obviously do buff things, otherwise you know, the TTK would change, to be specific it would become longer. Saying "Buff don't nerf" is just a bad opinion, that will only lower TTK which means eventually player health will have to go up or everything needs, you guessed it a nerf. Anyway, sorry you had to be the one that got the rant, there are many like you but you happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I'm glad people are still playing the game, I quit due to balancing changes for light but the fact that the community still cares and interacts is great. Until light is viable in diamond + again I probably wont play but its good that embark nerfed the aps in such a smart way. Thanks for reliably making content on this game, and keep up the good work.

APS nerf was a long time coming. Other games that have Trophy systems are limited use for a reason. It's any wonder why Embark didn't realize this early on.
APS nerf was awesome! Definitely a healthy change. I also do think that will affect higher level of play for sure. Same with Throwing Knives. Definitely needed!
Instead of projectiles to consume health on the APS turret, it would be better to have a timer. With the number of projectiles that are thrown vs the cd of it, completely eliminates the use of this.
I think Embark need scaling dmg projectile does to APS Ex CL-40 only has 4 ammo but single/manual reload, 40% probably fine for them since APS negate 3 ammo from CL and CL biggest weaknesses is low ammo number + long reload But for GL who can reload 6 ammo at once, they need reduce it to 20% Especially Goo gun, that's Specialization need to be only does 5-10% dmg

The APS nerf seems way too much, considering the nerf was basically made for powershift (a very grenade spam heavy gamemode). Just wait, the community will be crying online about grenade/grenade launcher spam being unchecked soon enough. They should have had it take like, 20% health, or changed it so it doesn't take ANY health from the APS, but instead has a small cooldown between projectiles stopped. Also, it shouldn't stop goo gun shots... goo gun basically insta-destroys APS now.

Finally i can at least have a chance againts aps player since i main (medium) grenade launcher. But 3 shots it feels a bit low. I hope they nerf the sentry turret tho make it like its a mini sentry in tf2, starts of at 50%hp and it gains hp up to the max when its finished setting up

@@THiiXY it does feel like it to be honnest but it might just be placebo since i have seen a lot more turret use recently, and the unlimited ammo it has is brutal sometimes since you are effectively fighting 2 people where one has perfect aim on you
I main GL with medium, and had zero problems with it. you can splash damage it to death, and you can use red cans to by pass it, and take them out, now we even have glith barrels... Embark dropped the ball with this one, big time.

Someone can you put it down and make you deal with it first and that enable to escape or do an objective or kill you while you try to break the thing. And what about powershift where there are multiple of on the platform? Fun right?
@@EvilLaughter16 I play mainly power shift, and what about it if it enables escape or kill you tying to destory it lol, it is a defencive tool, that sounds like you got outplayed if you die killing a thing that doesn't hurt you... so will turrets, shields, anything. Even if there is multiple, you can destroy them, red cans, glitch cans, we have the tools to bypass aps too, specially in Powershift. What they should had done instead for example bigger cooldown (you can still pick them up), don't heal turrets by picking them up, that is ridiculous, damage on them should increase your cooldown when picked up. Or start cooldown when turret is destroyed, so you can't spam then, anything like that. It's super weak now, you're gonna see GL spam soon, and nobody wants to be at the platform, even less now,

I'm just gonna start spamming Heavy gl at PS then... If it is just shields, then I'll spam Medium ones. What a stupid change, and I main gl with Medium, APS were not a problem... and I'm talking about PowerShift here. What they should have done, was to remove the healing when picking it up, make the health bar correspond to the ammount of cooldown it gets back (same for turrets), and maybe, maybe then add like 5 to 10 percent damage per projectile. Now APS is dead, and soon we will get the whines how gls need to be nerfed...
Medium just keeps getting nerfed. It’s kinda exhausting. I love this game but making nerfs for a single game mode and it ruining a gadget across the board is frustrating. Like Aps really? It was a good random pick that sometimes clutched but not every time. Want to see buffs not just nerfs every week or so.

Actually kinda makes the aps useless. You could always counter it with dematerializer or just shoot the stupid thing. Now its a waste of a gadget slot imo. It won't last but 2 seconds.

What? rpg already got nerfed way back it doesn't one shot light and mediums and the meta is already changing light becoming a real assassin with melee and throwing knives, mediums AK and cl40 pushing the fcar out of the meta, heavy m60, flamethrower and sledge hammer pushing out the pan fed lmg out of the meta what more do you want?
@@terpekiseo8748 now in ranked meta is MMH or what is more likely HHM. Cooldown for rpg is so fast and its almost unavoidable for mediums. Most fights are only about the rpg spam. Even if you laser the heavies, they just double rpg and you are gone. And if they play with C&S its too much dps even for heavies. RPG dont instakill light, but 10hp is not good either.

The best part is for other classes to have good dps, they have weaknesses, for example, lights are like glass cannons, mediums even being a bit faster than heavy cannot escape from them in close corners. Using rpg for heavies are punishless. Even if they miss, they still have the highest amount of hp among all other classes

Yeah I agree with that, my friends playing the CL-40 for the first time ever didn't understand the concept of their entire damage system being taken out of the game (aside from still being able to destroy it out of the circle). I think 40% is quite a lot for what it does, but it's definitely flipped that weapon, now being in solid control VS the APS.
@@THiiXY Character shadow is very jaggy, pixeleted. I have RTX 3080 but i saw other players who have stronger cards and still shadow looks very bad. Even if u put in setting shadow quality on epic the problem is there. Other shadows look okay in the game. I have contacted Embark about it they told they would fix it but the problem is still there! I am playing other games now i dont see that problem so it is not my system issue.
I think they really just need to stop… with the path there on. The game was unbalanced in s1 sure. But the thing is was it was fast, fun, not clunky. Rn there just nerfing stuff to make it balanced. This is in fact, the worst choice that has been made before. Nerfing everything is just either gonna turn it into some things are just OBJECTIVELY better and the others obsolete. Or everything is gonna be clunky and slow and feel bad to use. Making everything powerful? That is how you achieve balance. I put my beliefs in that because it works. The finals rn, has never been more boring. The ranked gameplay has never been more uninteresting. Embark wants to focus on the casual and still, just making everything powerful will make it fun for all. Just right now STOP BALANCING BASED AROUND THE CASUALS. There takes are simply “I don’t like it’s op” respectfully if your take doesn’t have any evidence behind it then it really just shouldn’t be taken to account. I miss CB2 I think that it was a really fun time, sure stun gun was OP but RPG countered it, medium mines countered lights chasing them down. I'm not saying we have to "exactly" go back to that time, but maybe with some subtle adjustments to both rather than this complete over-nerf
Throwing knives have no buisness being as good as they are now. The throwing knives were already good. Before they took skill and now any goober can pick them up and drop 20s

APS made people actually push the platform to retake it. Now it's just sit back and rain nades on it until it's clear. Seems like dumbing down.

Would you say that the KS-23 headshot should leave a light on say 1hp? So 149 to the head as an example? Just wondering what you think!
I don’t know man… I was able to complete the contract thats “damage beyond 50m” with it and it wasnt that painful (Refused to use snipers lol)

Jeez, with the CL-40 becoming somewhat of the meta this ranked season, was not expecting this much of a nerf to the ADS. Not exactly sure why you mentioned it as underrated as it's definitely seen an uprising this season compared to the past's. Though I am playing in Asia servers, so the meta may have not caught up in the NA / EU regions yet.
I’ve seen people put the CL-40 as “decent” but even then I say that’s under rated personally, if you have good movement then it’s very strong, especially now with this change. I agree thought that APS nerf is wild

The amount of double Heavies and triple Mediums I encountered this season rolling with at least 1x CL-40 in the squad is crazy. Gonna be an interesting season 3...

I’ve had games where my APS has blocked shot after shot after shot. I’m actually pretty okay with this change on paper, though I hope it’s not too harsh of a nerf! Looking forward to some buffs eventually
the drip i use for medium is the pink welder helm, the goth jacket, pink gloves, i switch from the skirt in the goth drawer pack to black cargos, and of course the pink boots. peak drip

Was talking with a bud of mines a while back about the aps and how annoying it gets dealing with it. I thunk up an idea of them adding some kind of internal cooldown between when it blocks something like 3 or 5 seconds. This change definitely is something.

cl 40 could actually easily destroy aps turrets :) because the explosion radius is higher than the aps defending circle radius

For real. The ability to melee was the ONLY defense against turrets if you’re a flamethrower heavy. We also can’t evade and run away like lights/medium so it’s a heavy’s only defense

Also TTK has stayed pretty damn consistent since release, so they very obviously do buff things, otherwise you know, the TTK would change, to be specific it would become longer. Saying "Buff don't nerf" is just a bad opinion, that will only lower TTK which means eventually player health will have to go up or everything needs, you guessed it a nerf. Anyway, sorry you had to be the one that got the rant, there are many like you but you happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'm glad people are still playing the game, I quit due to balancing changes for light but the fact that the community still cares and interacts is great. APS nerf was a long time coming. Other games that have Trophy systems are limited use for a reason. It's any wonder why Embark didn't realize this early on.

APS nerf was awesome! Definitely a healthy change. I also do think that will affect higher level of play for sure. Same with Throwing Knives. Definitely needed!

Instead of projectiles to consume health on the APS turret, it would be better to have a timer. With the number of projectiles that are thrown vs the cd of it, completely eliminates the use of this.

I think Embark need scaling dmg projectile does to APS
Ex CL-40 only has 4 ammo but single/manual reload, 40% probably fine for them since APS negate 3 ammo from CL and CL biggest weaknesses is low ammo number + long reload
But for GL who can reload 6 ammo at once, they need reduce it to 20%
Especially Goo gun, that's Specialization need to be only does 5-10% dmg
Also since APS now easily get destroyed, lower APS cool down like -35% to redeploy

The APS nerf seems way too much, considering the nerf was basically made for powershift (a very grenade spam heavy gamemode). Just wait, the community will be crying online about grenade/grenade launcher spam being unchecked soon enough. They should have had it take like, 20% health, or changed it so it doesn't take ANY health from the APS, but instead has a small cooldown between projectiles stopped. Also, it shouldn't stop goo gun shots... goo gun basically insta-destroys APS now.

Finally i can at least have a chance againts aps player since i main (medium) grenade launcher. But 3 shots it feels a bit low. I hope they nerf the sentry turret tho make it like its a mini sentry in tf2, starts of at 50%hp and it gains hp up to the max when its finished setting up
Aha you must be loving it right now as a CL-40 user then! :D I think the turret idea is interesting, I do think that it feels like it was secretly buffed at some point, as it snaps to me so quickly now
@@THiiXY it does feel like it to be honnest but it might just be placebo since i have seen a lot more turret use recently, and the unlimited ammo it has is brutal sometimes since you are effectively fighting 2 people where one has perfect aim on you
I main GL with medium, and had zero problems with it. you can splash damage it to death, and you can use red cans to by pass it, and take them out, now we even have glith barrels...

Someone can you put it down and make you deal with it first and that enable to escape or do an objective or kill you while you try to break the thing. @@EvilLaughter16 I play mainly power shift, and what about it if it enables escape or kill you tying to destory it lol, it is a defencive tool, that sounds like you got outplayed if you die killing a thing that doesn't hurt you... so will turrets, shields, anything. Even if there is multiple, you can destroy them, red cans, glitch cans, we have the tools to bypass aps too, specially in Powershift.
What they should had done instead for example bigger cooldown (you can still pick them up), don't heal turrets by picking them up, that is ridiculous, damage on them should increase your cooldown when picked up. Or start cooldown when turret is destroyed, so you can't spam then, anything like that.
It's super weak now, you're gonna see GL spam soon, and nobody wants to be at the platform, even less now,

Ahaha, yes! Right click dealt a tonne more damage (one-shot lights, leaving mediums on like 10hp) but it's very hard to hit, like very hard.

What a stupid change, and I main gl with Medium, APS were not a problem... and I'm talking about PowerShift here.
What they should have done, was to remove the healing when picking it up, make the health bar correspond to the ammount of cooldown it gets back (same for turrets), and maybe, maybe then add like 5 to 10 percent damage per projectile.
Now APS is dead, and soon we will get the whines how gls need to be nerfed...

@@terpekiseo8748 now in ranked meta is MMH or what is more likely HHM. Cooldown for rpg is so fast and its almost unavoidable for mediums. Most fights are only about the rpg spam. Even if you laser the heavies, they just double rpg and you are gone. And if they play with C&S its too much dps even for heavies. RPG dont instakill light, but 10hp is not good either.
@@ose_joe7187 rpg cooldown is maybe less than minute or 30 seconds idk the exact number and with a coordinated team the two hit rpg is brutal that's why some diamond players counter this by playing 3 medium with aps and triple defib healing beam while light is just there to get shit on, embark should just buff light's HP and put it to 180 cuz the rpg nerf was already done and that nerf is effective

The best part is for other classes to have good dps, they have weaknesses, for example, lights are like glass cannons, mediums even being a bit faster than heavy cannot escape from them in close corners. Using rpg for heavies are punishless. Even if they miss, they still have the highest amount of hp among all other classes

Yeah I agree with that, my friends playing the CL-40 for the first time ever didn't understand the concept of their entire damage system being taken out of the game (aside from still being able to destroy it out of the circle). I think 40% is quite a lot for what it does, but it's definitely flipped that weapon, now being in solid control VS the APS.

@@THiiXY Character shadow is very jaggy, pixeleted. I have RTX 3080 but i saw other players who have stronger cards and still shadow looks very bad. Even if u put in setting shadow quality on epic the problem is there. Other shadows look okay in the game. I have contacted Embark about it they told they would fix it but the problem is still there! I am playing other games now i dont see that problem so it is not my system issue.
Okay I'll raise the issue on my side for you as well, maybe this will be tackled in S3, they typically fix a lot of stuff then

I think they really just need to stop… with the path there on. The game was unbalanced in s1 sure. But the thing is was it was fast, fun, not clunky. Rn there just nerfing stuff to make it balanced. This is in fact, the worst choice that has been made before. Nerfing everything is just either gonna turn it into some things are just OBJECTIVELY better and the others obsolete. Or everything is gonna be clunky and slow and feel bad to use. Making everything powerful? That is how you achieve balance. I put my beliefs in that because it works. The finals rn, has never been more boring. The ranked gameplay has never been more uninteresting. Embark wants to focus on the casual and still, just making everything powerful will make it fun for all. Just right now STOP BALANCING BASED AROUND THE CASUALS. There takes are simply “I don’t like it’s op” respectfully if your take doesn’t have any evidence behind it then it really just shouldn’t be taken to account. I miss CB2 I think that it was a really fun time, sure stun gun was OP but RPG countered it, medium mines countered lights chasing them down. I'm not saying we have to "exactly" go back to that time, but maybe with some subtle adjustments to both rather than this complete over-nerf
