Omg! Everything is so true! People interrupting at weddings, conductors cutting before you finally start playing, people asking for the price of the harp, finding out there is no harp in the orchestra repertoire... Loved it!
So true! Especially the tuning and people talking to me while I play. Some even ask me questions while I play and get pissed when I don´t answer. But I simply can´t have a conversation and play at the same time. My brain doesn´t work that way.
I have (built) a small harp of 26 strings and its very very rare for a string to break. Also I can sit my harp away for long periods of time and it still keeps tune....
Really true and funny haha…. After many times, I reply theirs questions automatically, like a machine 😂😂 When I move it around, everyone usually wants to help me, because they think they stronger than me. But, they give up after try it hahahah 😆
I really love your videos🙈🥰 i wanna play the harp too but I don’t want my mother to buy me an expensive harp… especially because I also play the violin and the piano…but I can’t stop thinking about playing the harp. It’s such a beautiful instrument!
I'm at my 4th year learning harp, but they put me in an ensemble of guitars, and the teacher ask me if I know where are the notes, I play for 4 year of course I know the notes! And the worst was last year, when they put me in a wind Orchestra😂🤦♀️
I'm 66 years old, I have always wanted to learn to play a pedal harp. Now that I'm retired and lots of free time on thinking about trying to learn, but am I to old to try.
I agree! You won't regret it. There are many different sizes and types of harps you can buy with huge differences in price ranges! You don't have to buy a huge pedal harp that costs the price of a car to learn the harp! I rented-to-own a Dusty Strings Ravenna 34 from Vermont Violins (very reasonable and great people). I did research and found this was a great beginner harp that could be used for a lifetime with a great sound! I also found Christy Lynn's "Learning the Harp" online course that has been SO much fun! I don't know if I'll ever do gigs or any of that fancy stuff, but learning the harp is so pleasurable. It's so worth it, and I'm 60 years old!! Never to late! ❤
As a time served double bass player, I can safely say that transporting my mid 19th century instrument around doesn't even come close! Strings rarely break and if I'm on a jazz gig I don't even need to tune them! (only joking, I'm a stickler for tuning) Thank you for making us laugh!
@@미나-t9r2x Did I tell you about the night I missed the train home and had to sleep in the bass gig bag at the station? Harp players have done this successfully but I could only get one leg in.
Got my first 26 string harpsicle till I can get a harp and tuning this is a pain lmao 26 strings to tun individually but I like it way better than the violin
Yes it should be okay! I used to live in a small apartment so I usually kept my harp tucked away and then pulled it out for when I practiced. It was a bit of a hassle taking it out and stuff but you gotta do what you gotta do when you dont have the space ahah
Especially when you finally get it all tuned up, something happens like a change in weather or - as the joke goes - someone opens a door, and suddenly it's all out of tune again!😫
Haha yeah I need help when I move it up stairs! But going down, I can do myself😉 I have never taken it on a plane! But based on why I’ve read online, you just put it in a giant box and fly it like that! I think😂😂
@@미나-t9r2x Also, I play the flute a little and yes like all instruments its beautiful and portable. However, like all instruments it has its limitations. It doesn't have a drone flute that you can use in any key and you can only play treble clef notes...the harp you can add the rhythm and harmony that some people need to hear with a melody for the song/piece it doesn't sound 'right.' Plus its a wind instrument and to play well you need to master circular breathing...which I have not.. .....kuddos to the flutists who have achieved this great accomplishment. 👏👏👏👏 For a portable harp I bought a rees 33 string harp and placed pedal harp gut strings in middle C area....I am content for now.
@@미나-t9r2x there is nothing like a pedal harp made of Sitka spruce from the mid west. Heartland harps has a carbonfiber 47 string gut/nylon pedal harp which is only 34 pounds...it sounds pleasant according to a RUclips video. Also, you don't have to worry about heat, cold or humidity. I would like to play it see how it sounds next to a L&H 47 string harp. 😊 Happy Harping. 🎶

Oj no the harp becomes sad when it rains :c
I nearly died watching the wedding part. The same thing happens with cello too 😂
LOL😂😂😂😂
Respect for tuning so many strings. 6 are enough for me :)
Dont even get me started on the blisters after switching to a concert harp, it is so annoying :')
LOL the "Hey, nice Guitar!" part is so damn true. i got once asking me "Your Chinese Zither is so beautiful!" :)

😂😂😂 aaw thank you!!
I kinda play both, but I have a little harp. It looks like a job and a half to haul the big one around. Still is a gorgeous instrument, though.
Thank god violin is easy to pack and move around (I’m a person who HATES packing large items)

What's the piece played at the very beginning of the video?
The intro? That is La Source by Zabel!
I hate replacing a string 🤦🏾♂️

do you still use the lever harp?
Yeah but I practice more with the pedal😆
In all seriousness is it possible to move the harp up and down the stairs by yourself or do you get help? Also how would you take it on a plane?
