Back in 1989 I went to a comic convention at a hotel in Spokane WA, where I met Todd McFarlane personally I got both Asm#298-300 signed. Also at the same con I got Asm#121-122 for $18.00!
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that! I agree, comic people are totally cool and there isn't a better community to be a part of in my opinion! Thanks for watching an commenting.
The actual Dark Phoenix Saga is 129-137. I'd say read 138, too. It is basically an epilogue and deals with the fallout. Awesome video, man. I absolutely love the Daredevil Born Again story. Good stuff.
Thank you for finally clearing that up for me lol Its so ambiguous when all the phoenix stuff starts and ends. Daredevil Born again definitely has to be my fav. Daredevil story! Thanks again for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
Marvels, Kingdom Come, Squadron Supreme, Ruins, Secret Wat by Brian Michael Bendis, DC: New Frontier, Punisher Mini Series, Daredevil: The Man Without Fear, Daredevil Yellow, Spider Man Blue, Hulk Gray, Batman The Long Halloween, Batman Dark Victory, Superman For All Seasons. Just to name a few great affordable must have mini Series.
I like your videos but I really like the one you did on your collection.it gave me the idea about using file cabinets for storage. My question is what the best comic book price guide app would you recommend?
Hey there! Welcome to the channel. Really happy to hear you enjoy the videos, I appreciate you positive feedback and support. I personally use The Overstreet comic book price guide. It is considered a standard by collectors and I think it is well put together. Hope this helps, and I hope to hear from you again. Cheers!
I actually just won a lot for the full Batman knightfall story arc on eBay for around $25 and all bagged and boarded and in rather decent shape. Was really stocked about that win
One story arc that sticks out in my mind was the, "Extinction Agenda", it ran in 3 different marvel X- titles, 9 issues all together. I still remember the main villain's name was Cameron Hodge; in the island of Genosha. Anyway I enjoyed that one quite a bit. By the way, nice channel.
I actually have never read that one before! I will have to check out the extinction agenda. Thanks for the suggestion! Also, thanks for your positive feedback. I really appreciate it. I’m glad you enjoy the channel. Hope to to hear from you again! Cheers!
I got a copy os AMAZING SPIDER MAN # 122 for almost a song in the 90s! When they brought Norman Osborn back, I guess the vendor figured the price would fall! But apparently, the story itself is iconic despite Norman's return and has remained pretty high! Maybe it's partly due to Spidey confirming that Gwen really was dead? Who knows? SCORE!
So jealous right now! I haven't been able to find that book anywhere of late for less than 20 dollars. I would totally spend 2.83, but not more than $5. Enjoy your pickup, thats a great deal!
Geekery with Dante D. Keep looking the deals are out there, sometimes you need to get it as part of a deal. You can find the death of Superman for not too much, you just need to keep looking, it's MOS 18 that holds value. I like and collect superman and resigned myself to possibly never getting the black poly as even to me it's not worth $20, but I managed to get it as part of a small bulk deal. Also got MoS 17 and 18 for cheap as part of that deal, super lucky. I do have the regular DoS but I felt I needed to get the poly.
And WELL'WELL I'm just saying thank you so much for your powerful "VIDEO ESSAY" about some very interesting and good point of view about some very good and rare comic. PS I have about ten or 32 years of comic I am going to LOOK FOR.............
Yes I have heard a lot about that arc but have not read it yet. I have read the first Silver Surfer series from the 60s and really enjoyed it. I hope to pick up FF 48-50 soon so I can continue to read about the relationship between Galactus and the Surfer.
I agree that the Death of Superman run value is way overpriced. It isn't helped that it has the full appearance of the 1D character Doomsday, and the death of superman book itself has been rising inexplicably. The individual issues aren't crazy expensive, just that they are priced far higher then they should really be worth. It wouldn't surprise me that dealers are sitting on books to constrain the supply and make it possible to sell for as much as they are. Heck they did a reprint in the 2000s as part of the millennium print, for some reason they felt the need to reprint despite that they are easily available.
True, I didn't think of that. We have shops where we are pretty much guaranteed to get the next instalment in the arc. I can't imagine being a kid in the 60s and the mom and pop shops having my favourite comic one month and then completely different ones the next month. Thanks for watching!
Stephen Crane . I am sure it mattered a little, but According to the people who worked at the publishers, the lack of back issues comic stores had little to do with lack of continuity. The publishers had different mindset where they viewed fans were only short term and cycled out of comics once they reached adolescence. Publishers had no money to be made with the back issues, but they did with new issues, and the next story was more important to them then the last. Continuity only really becomes important to publishers when the fans demanded it and when the fans became creators themselves.
I think Superman 75 gets too much of the blame for the collapse in the 90's. I think that it was the most reported on book as it was know about outside the comic community, but it didn't cause it by any means. It wasn't just variant covers but also offered an actual story that sold the book. There's no way that those xforce or Xmen multi million print runs didn't have a larger impact than the death of superman in terms of market hysteria.
Excellent point! I think the death of Superman gets a bad rap just because of all the media attention it got. That’s what people know so it’s easy to point fingers!
But is the story any good though, or is this just because of an arc with a famous first apperance? I'd bet it's because of wolverine and how much it's worth.
Yes, lol those and “super, super.” I don’t remember if I did it in this video, but I have a tendency to describe my fav. books as “super, super good” lmao thanks for watching! Glad we could share a laugh 😂
Back in 1989 I went to a comic convention at a hotel in Spokane WA, where I met Todd McFarlane personally I got both Asm#298-300 signed. Also at the same con I got Asm#121-122 for $18.00!
Kraven's Last Hunt also ran in Spectacular Spider-Man. Best Spider-Man story ever
Yes I agree! Absolutely love that run! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Like all comic tubers, you are a really cool guy. Good Vid!
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that! I agree, comic people are totally cool and there isn't a better community to be a part of in my opinion! Thanks for watching an commenting.
And Kraven's Last Hunt also ran in Spectacular Spider Man #131
Yup, I must have forgot to mention that lol
I enjoyed Geoff John's Forever Evil and Johnathan Hickman's Infinity which created the Black Order, villains in both Infinity War films.

I picked up a Death of Superman still in black poly bag for $2.83 😂
So jealous right now! I haven't been able to find that book anywhere of late for less than 20 dollars. I would totally spend 2.83, but not more than $5. Enjoy your pickup, thats a great deal!

Coming of Galactus Fantastic Four 48-50

You do have some nice issues there.
I'd like to get some of those 80's batman stories, but the prices .... Geesh.
I know right!? Comics across the board are getting so expensive!
@@Dante19883 Now is the time to start buying? before it gets out of reach?
I have to keep my "LAST THOUGHT TO MYSELF" But I will get back when I have the picture proof of what I have. B1
The lack of continuity in earlier comics stemmed from the lack of availability of the comics.

I'm subscribed so when you upload a video, I watch it.

I can't believe I forgot that one. I have that run too lol
But is the story any good though, or is this just because of an arc with a famous first apperance? I'd bet it's because of wolverine and how much it's worth.
I’m gonna guess the words “culturally significant” are your favorites. 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, lol those and “super, super.” I don’t remember if I did it in this video, but I have a tendency to describe my fav. books as “super, super good” lmao thanks for watching! Glad we could share a laugh 😂
Sorry bruh but you missed on this one..... especially since you only used DC and marvel
Yeah, I only know mostly DC and Marvel. I will have to check out some others. Thanks!
