    Funny that you mentioned “having a show to watch to get educated”...that it 100% what I utilize this channel for. Very new to the game so I use every resource available to get educated...thanks!

    House of Secret number 92 is one of my favorites. During the mid 1980s I went to my first comic convention and bought a fine condition copy for $12. About 7 years later, I took it and Swamp Thing number 1 to a convention in Seattle and had both Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson sign them.

    I have a few of these gems in my collection, I'll take a reader copy any day of the week just to hold it in my hands and go back to my childhood. Nothing beats the smell of older pulp style comics. Someone should make an air freshener called pulp, I know it sounds weird but true comic collectors know exactly what I'm talking about. Little known fact, I like to keep a copy of a Previews catalog in my car once in awhile just for that reason alone.

    • @goldenageguru
      @goldenageguru 5 лет назад +1

      Section1ops I keep a short box of birnze age comics in my car with no lid, unbagged and unboarded. Gives my car that authentic wild paper smell. 😁. But a small tree that comes in that sent would be easier.

    A couple of these books have been in my personal Grail list and man was I lucky to get 2 of them. 1 recently too. ASM 129 and my fav, HOS92. Man after I got the HOS I had to get the full original BW LW run. Pure gold there. I'll show you guys on IG my fav of that run is my Swamp Thing 7 that's signed by Bernie and CGC 6.0 (but could get a huge jump with a press because I can see it hit an 8.0 with what I can see).

    I have a Star Wars #1 35 cent cover that I got from a garage sale lot a couple years ago. I put it in a box, wrapped in bubble wrap and seat belted in the back seat of the car. 2nd scariest drive home in my life, next to the first time I drove my new born home from the hospital. I thought I won the lottery because at that time I did not know about the 2nd printings. It, of course, is the diamond box 35 cent cover...

      Geeky Daddy we have all been there with that book. Hopefully this info helps straighten it out for everyone. That drive home when you have your new born, is the most fearful drive home you can have. Felt the exact same way with both of my kiddos.🤣🤣🤣

    I get home after further inspection, it's the. 25 cent versions and they are the reprints :(

    I remember debating whether to buy the Star Wars #1 $.35 version in the early 90's when Mile High Comics advertised it for like $25 inside comic books. I already had the 1st issue and it was just a price variant so I passed. That and skipping ASM #129 when I had purchased every other Punisher appearance back in the day are my biggest comic regrets.

    • @robertt9342
      @robertt9342 5 лет назад

      I think you need to consider why you are collecting. Are you collecting for your interests or for investments?
      If you are a punisher fan, I can legitimately see why ASM 129 might be important. It's a legitimately important appearance for the punisher. I only really understand the SW variant as being regretful because you passed it up, but it's not like you actually passed on it after seriously considering buying it. Besides you already have the normal one.

    • @magnumrex
      @magnumrex 5 лет назад

      My reply was just to relate stories from my own collecting. I collected comics from the late 70's through the early 90's and then again in the mid 2000's. I collected for fun as while I have a number of key comics, many are well read. Now I just read them digitally. The Star Wars #1 I did seriously consider because as you know it was reprinted in different formats multiple times and I have probably all of them. Star Wars was the first comic I collected and I got a number of the issues in the 3 for $.99 bags. Star Wars is my favorite movie and one of the first comics I had was the giant size movie adaption. I was big into the Punisher in the 80's and have all the other ASM appearances. The ASM #129 was probably out of my price range when I was a kid and then I lost interest. While I haven't bought comics in years I do collect original art. I like this channel because it's fun and seeing the comics that were really cheap when I was a kid now super valuable is interesting.

      @@goldenageguru I think it's arguably one of the most important comics of all time. Neil and Dennis Ushered in a new era of relevant, realistic story telling and they touched on important issues at that time, something no one else was doing. I wish it was higher on the list but pretty impressive considering it's not a rare 35 cent variant, there's no 1st appearance or death and it's a Green Lantern book!

    Great video! I love all the knowledge I am gaining and remembering having an Iron Fist 14 but it wasn't a good copy. Hulk 181 is a grail to me and probably will not get it however I do have most first appearances of the X-men since that is my favorite comic as well as Amazing Spiderman!! I actually just watched the movie Coyote Ugly where one of the characters had to give up his ASM 129 to help get the main character on stage to sing but she freaked out because of severe stage fright. Would love to see the copies of original books from this age done in depth!

    I'm really hoping that Nova #1 gets on the list. Ya know, he is so under rated but supposedly he, Rider or Alexander, is going to be in coming up in the MCU. We only hope.

    Bought three of these books (Hulk 181, Giant size X-Men and Green lantern when they came out. Traded them in the mid 80's, happy with what I traded for but would sure love to still have them

    Uncle Scrooge 179 has been trending downwards for a years now and will drop out of the top 10 soon. Honorable mention: Scooby Doo and Flintstones #1 35¢ price variant. Both books are the rarest of the 35¢ variants. A few years ago a Flintstones CGC 1.0 sold for $1000. I think the variant Scooby Doo would blow away the 1970 gold key book if one ever goes to auction.

    I would love to see a video on the House of Secrets book and the Hulk 181. I can't believe ASM 129 and GL 76 have gone up that much in the last year or two. Awesome to know I have a copy of these. Great show guys. Thanks

    I like these lists. I never heard of that Uncle Scrooge. Surprised Scooby-Doo was on the list but I understand it. My only gripe is $200-$300 is not affordable. I'll never get a key like HoS92 or 181 or GSX1 or ASM129 in my lifetime unless I win the lottery or get really really damn lucky at a garage sale.

    I didn't know about that Captain America 212 35cent variant until now, super low CGC census numbers (only 8 graded)wow. Another price variant that is scarce in terms of CGC census numbers is X-Factor 6(1st full Apocalypse) Canadian price variant

      @@goldenageguru Marvel Tails #1(1st spider-Ham?) Canadian Price Variant only has 6 graded on the CGC census compared to the X-Factor 6 CPV which has like 30 something graded and the ASM 252 CPV has over 250 graded. Granted the books initial value/popularity has a lot to do with the scarce census numbers of these variants but also the CPVs are not as popular or well known as the 35cent-ers lol sorry Canada. However I still grab these, especially the keys whenever I come across them. Does anyone know if these CPVs were distributed all across Canada? or was it a test thing in some Canada Provinces like the 35cent-ers?
