Well, I was hoping when he said "I never really thought about it," I was hoping it was gonna be an epiphany of sorts, but instead, he doubled down even harder. That was legitimately depressing. He actually admitted he hadn't thought about an aspect of how our world works, but rather than listening to what Jake had to say and maybe have his world view challenged, he decided that because *he* hadn't thought about it, Jake was lying and trying to poison the well.

It was that he had no interest in a good faith argument and realized that being pushed in this direction would end up a bad look. So he employed dismissal that was both true (he doesn't care) and in bad faith (he's only engaging as bloodsport and not honest dialogue).

I listened to this passively while I was at work, so I don't remember everything that was said. Seemed like he just assumed Jake knew about all the "debunking" his studies had received and because he "knew" but kept pushing past it because just saying a study was debunked without giving reasons or even half-remembering the reasons somebody else had to debunk the study obviously isn't an argument, that meant he was lying. A lie by omission, I suppose.

GrimisS responds with the quote in the video title, "I've never really thought about it."
Jake attempts to respond with, "Good, I know you haven't and this is the point." As Jake sees a potential avenue to explore to increase mutual understanding regarding the generational impact of wealth.
But GrimisS undercuts this literally and rhetorically with, "I don't... I don't care," as Jake tries to expand.
He's literally stating that the whole discussion doesn't matter because he doesn't care to actually think about and understand the issue being discussed.

When he says "systemic" he means there are no laws that prohibit minorities from doing anything that anyone else can. That's what systemic means. There's no systemic racism in the U.S. anymore. Those laws are long gone. And no, certain people happening to be racist isn't systemic racism. In fact, it's even illegal to impose barriers based on race because of this very reason. It's a federal crime to not hire someone because of skin color or any other superficial trait.

In NY there was a law that hid police miscunduct history from the public, and this miscunduct was against black people, hence it was a systemic issue.
Application of law is part of the system thus it is fair to call racist bias a systemic issue. Watch John Oliver piece on Jury duty, there are laws against what was the issue there, but system missapplied them.

If i was in this debate i would have used the race runner analogy -
a white and a black person are preparing to race, but before it starts the white person takes out a glock and shoots the black person in the leg. As the race starts everyone notices how the black person is falling behind, obviously. So they restart the race with a rule of no shooting people in the leg, but the black person was already shot. The race begins again same as before, just i guess he healed a bit but is still behind. When complaining a person like GrimisS goes 'But that was like 20 minutes ago!'
