- In this video I walk you through specifically camping cookware tips and tricks in what to look for in repairs, maintenance and even modifications of your cook kits.I share personal experience on how to deep clean soot from your pots and pans.
I also include how to repair a leaking coffee pot! Or can it be repaired? The outcome may surprise you as I think "outside the box" to save an old favourite coffee percolator.

Marc....you changed my life with that oven cleaner hack. Thanks bud.....IOU a beer for that one. 🍻
I have that effect on people 🤣
Thanks Tyler🍻
Good job repurposing that coffee pot Marc! Can’t wait to get out there and give it a proper go Brother! 👊🏻🍻
I'll bring it this weekend!
Thanks brotha🍻
Great tips. Maintaining gear is an important part of being out there.
Glad you were able to reuse part of that coffee pot.
Thanks for sharing my friend!🤝
Me too! Now to hit the woods👍
Thanks Andy✌️
Howdy Marc- it’s a sad time to have to retire an old favorite. But you still have part of it to carry on. Great video. Take care and God bless
Hi Paul, the house build must be looking fantastic right now! Yes my old pot lives on👍
Thanks for coming out Paul✌️
Good tips Marc !
These are things a lot of people don't think about. Just like changing the oil in your vehicle, simple maintenance is the key to keeping your gear in good condition.
Great advice Marc ! Love the shop videos !
Cheers
👍👍🌲🌲🌲🇨🇦🍻
I have some very old gear, and I have it because I maintain it. Sometimes I can be hard on my equipment but still I maintain it!
Thanks Tim✌️
Nicely done. Both the pot cleaning and extending the life of your percolator 🤝🏻
Yes! And I'm ready for the camping season👍
Take care RL✌️
There ya go , ready for this summer. I just use spray vegetable oil on my SS fry pan .
I am! watch me go!
Thanks Steve✌️
Great tips Marc. And refitting the bush pot from parts of the old one worked out well.
It did! And it will go to good use👍
Thanks Kenny✌️
Loved this. I have a lot of similar gear, partly because I'm attached to my old stuff, and partly because I'm too cheap to buy new gear. Glad to see you salvage some stuff instead of just throwing it away, Marc. 👌👍
OMG! I still have gear I had as a teenager! Sometimes I like going out with specifically old school gear👍
Thanks Daryl✌️
Nice 👍 ☕️
Thanks Lorenzo✌️
Love the Frankenpot! Lives to brew another day💪 excellent job, turning lemons into lemonade. Good tips today, brother
I am happy with the end product👍
Thanks Shiny✌️
.Very good friend, good strategies for maintaining your pans or dishes that you use for camping. Here we only carve them with ash and earth and they are very shiny. Tasty coffee, preparing it has its science too, not everyone is good at preparing coffee and a big part is knowing the grind you need. Greetings to my good and great friend.
Ah yes, so many tricks! But you my friend are from the land of coffee! I would love to see your favourite method for making a brew👍
Thanks Coyote✌️
Nice tips and trick. Bummer about the coffee pot being too thin.
I guess it's true nothing lasts forever! But I am happy with the mod👍
Take care John✌️
Very nice! Lots of information in here for the outdoors man. The welding repair reminded me of the welding I did on my muffler....very thin material is hard (or impossible) to fix. The repurposing and fit into the bush pot worked amazing and you even got the lid to sit down tight. I'm going to look for that coffee...maybe something you brought back from your vacation? I don't know if you noticed, but there were two wild wolves scrapping in the yard when you were showing us the pot cleaning!! 🐺🐺The old coffee pot could hold anything in the shop, pencils, outdoor supplies, etc, and live on. Have a good weekend, Marc. Thanks for all the tips in this video!
Yes the coffee was from our vacation. Santo Domingo coffee can be bought on Amazon but not the espresso. The old pot has not yet made the bucket so you never know! As for the wolves after a while you don't even notice them around😂
Thanks Craig✌️
@@OpenAirOutdoorsFound it on Amazon...not cheap and I'm afraid to buy it and like it because then I'd have to give up something else to afford my new coffee addiction!
HAHA! No point fighting it☕@@EverydayProjects
@@OpenAirOutdoors True. what’s👽👽 Life without a coffee addiction?
That worked out very nicely! reduce, reuse :)
I'm just happy I get to continue using my percolator👍
Thanks for coming out EC, I saw you posted something and my coffee is made so off I go😆
How's she goin'? Too bad your old coffee pot was wore out, but I guess that happens. The re-purpose job you did on the other parts and pieces was awesome though. It's a perfect coffee perk now eh! Way to go! Take 'er easy!!
Yes I can still enjoy my perk coffee👍
Thanks for coming out Mike✌️
Good time of the year to get everything ready to go again. Too bad about the pot😢
The pot lives on my friend✌️
Another informative video, Thanks Marc. I love my cold handle frying pans but I just use butter or oil to prevent sticking. I tried seasoning them but I guess I didn’t do it right, so it’s oil/butter out on the trail and a light oiling after use at home.
Hi Robin, your recovery is going well I take it? I love my old pan, it's a favourite! Sounds like your pan seasoning is just about done, follow any cast iron seasoning method and you'll be ok.
Thanks Robin ✌️
