Happy Monday everyone! We filmed this video at the end of 2022, so the 313,000 units sold was what Toyota did in 2021. The numbers are in for 2022 and the company moved about 295,000 Camry's last year, making this the best-selling family sedan in the US! While the segment continues to shrink, we don't think will abandon this class anytime soon and we will be driving the redesigned Accord in about 3 weeks. Stay tuned!
Car companies still had a hard time getting microchips which caused sales to suffer. I think 🤔 the American big 3 should not abandon the midsize sedan segment.
Bought my wife the 22 Camry LE Hybrid - Has been great for the past year and 15k miles. We consistently get 46-50 mpg on long trips. I did get 55 mpg one time on a 3 hour trip from Fresno to Sacramento. It is surprisingly quick with the help of the electric motor. We are very happy with it.
Not sure about the smooth one because it depends on which model. Generally their midsize and larger vehicles are good at that. The rest you are correct...
I bought a 23 XSE V6 model in December. It now has just over 1,200 miles on it and I can confirm the seats have softened up quite a bit. Also, the V6 gets surprisingly good gas mileage! I've been getting about 25 city and 35 highway in a mix between normal and eco modes. I don't usually stomp on it or push it much because it makes enough low end power for normal acceleration.
I have a 2020 XSE v6. On the highway I’ve seen as high as 40mpg. We’re one of the lucky ones. That 3.5 is amazing 🤩. But it’s a dying breed and I think Toyota may have stopped the v6 production on the Camrys by now
@@naveenthemachine 40mpg is really good! I need to see how much better it is if I just leave it in eco mode all that time. And I agree! The V6 makes these cars special. They're not radically powerful or underpowered... theyre just right. I'm sort of a V6 Camry enthusiast and I don't think Toyota has confirmed a redesign yet or if they're gonna drop the V6 for the next model but the writings on the wall so I scooped one up while I could.
@@Alex-sz8ku well the v6 is already gone at this point. Because the Toyota Highlander for 2023 killed the v6 and put in their new 2.4 turbo from the RX and nx.

Good review. These are very nice cars. We currently have two of the Camry Hybrids. The first is a 2021 Camry Hybrid LE. I’ve driven it 39K miles. I get 51 MPG with it if the weather is above 45 degrees. Unfortunately in May it was rear ended on the interstate and has been in the repair shop since. We have since purchased a 2023 Camry Hybrid SE. So far it is very nice but only gets around 45 MPG. The wider tires on the SE trim causes more rolling resistance which decrease the MPG’s. The Camry is just a great all around car.
Got the wifey a 2022 Silver Camry Hybrid SE Nightshade Edition. She absolutely loves it. She consistently gets around 45 miles to the gallon. We test drove the new 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid & she still preferred her Camry Hybrid… even though you get the extra trunk space with the ‘23 Honda CRV Hybrid. She felt her Camry was a smoother ride than the CRV Hybrid. If you can swing it, go hybrid instead of the regular Camry. You’ll feel the savings and at the gas station for sure.
Love the Camry. Real luxury is a trouble free car. I actually think the seats are super comfortable. The firm padding prevents fatigue on long drives. No aches or pains in my back. My 2020 SE has been a treat to drive and own.
I have the 2023 LE Hybrid, which, I assume, has the same seat padding as the XLE Hybrid. Cloth instead of leather, but I think the shape and padding are identical. I've taken two 800-mile trips so far, and seat comfort was absolutely never an issue. Never thought about them at all, which is the best thing you can say about a car seat. In terms of the ride quality, the LE's 16" wheels with taller sidewalls gives the smoothest, quietest, plushest ride of any Camry.
I agree . I do not understand why anyone buying a Camry would want a stiffer suspension and harder ride. I think even the SE model which the dealers push are a negative . My next car may be the Camry XLE hybrid, I own a 2018 Camry LE now. Great motor and transmission match .
As much as the Camry doesn't have the bells and whistles as many of its competitors, its practical and functional for a low cost. Lots of people especially if you are coming from a 6+ year old car, the features of a new camry are "luxury". Lots of people also see a car as a vehicle to get from point A to B, and camry provides that without worrying about it breaking.
Camry selling over 300k units while Accord is struggling to stay above 200k is impressive. I love the Accord, but Toyota's packaging/pricing is superior in some ways, and it shows
@naveenthemachine maybe in general, but not always. You still have to pay over 30k for blindspot monitoring on the accord, with camry you get it on the le Korean competitors offer it standard. I get where you're coming from, but Honda's packaging isn't as good as it used to be. Competitors have gotten better and surpassed them in many ways. Coming from a Honda guy. Or at least someone who used to be.
A few corrections are in order: This vehicle can go down the road well above 25mph on electric power alone, mine does it all the time. If the road is level, or downhill and you use light throttle I’ve seen it cruise at 45mph, even on the highway sometimes at even higher speeds. The SE comes with paddle shifters, not just the XSE. About that gas mileage… Driving from the Phoenix area to Sedona at 75mph and uphill I will get 43mpg, and coming back I will get 52. Usually, I get 47 when driven in town only, no freeway. Vibration from the engine: well, I guess if you are really using the throttle all the time while achieving 38mpg you will hear the engine, but driven like an adult you will not even notice it. Zero steering feel: I don’t test drive many vehicles like this tester so I will have to submit to his opinion, but what he doesn’t mention is the handling is pretty good. If you compare the handling to almost any SUV it’s outstanding, which is one of the things I like best about my Camry. Driven through the mountains on curvy roads this car is rock solid and gives complete confidence, at least when driven at sane speeds. Hard seats: I’ve driven to California and back and never even noticed the seats. This vehicle is kinda low, so getting in and out could be an issue if you are used to what sedans used to be, or if you’re coming from a pick-up or SUV. The reach to the front door handles are pretty far if the door is open all the way, it almost seems coupe like. (Two door)
We have a 2022 Camry XSE Hybrid. Seats are pretty comfortable but the seats in our 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy are much more comfortable. We have taken our Camry on trips of 8 hours of continuous driving and the seats were comfortable enough to not be fatigued at the end of our trip. Gas mileage has been fantastic. Suburbs to mild city driving gives us 45-53 MPG and sometimes low 60’s. 75-85 MPH freeway driving gives us low 40’s. 14,000 miles in 7 months and we are VERY happy with our Camry Hybrid. I’m interested to see what the next generation will bring to the table.
I have the SE Nightshade version and while I love the sporty look and fuel efficiency, the seats are killing me! I have 5000 miles on it and have the lumbar support on “max,” and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s torture when I drive long distances (300 plus miles) to visit friends and family. I was curious if the XLE would have better seats, so big THANK YOU for the review! I’ve driven both the 2022 Sienna and Highlander hybrids - my uncle has both- and the seats are much better. My only other points of comparison are a Mercedes and F150 truck. Both have plush leather seats. To be fair, I have lower back pain if I sleep on a bad mattress so ymmv.

Great video, love the info you provided - this may be our next vehicle!! 🤩 We would also love to hear more about the rumors of Kia & Hyundai discontinuing the Sonata and K5?? 🧐🧐
Thank you so much for watching! Glad we could help provide you with more insight on this vehicle! 😊 Sadly, it’s all still just rumors coming out of Korea. Hopefully, it’s not true!
Hyunda does make the Ioniq 6 and that's a sedan. It's all-electric. So, they'll still have a sedan if they drop the Sonata. I hope not. Plus the Sonata is much less money than the Ioniq 6.
The Panoramic Sunroof is offered on the 4cyl XSE/XLE as optional. There’s a lot of them with the motor of the sunroof failing and getting stuck on the “open” position.
300,000+ units is still impressive for a sedan, especially the Camry. Not even the majority of crossovers sell this well individually. Curious what the next gen Camry will be like.
30k miles on my hybrid XLE. The seats are still hard. My family and I always complain. Averaging 44.2 mpg over the 30k miles - manually calculated with Fuelly. 2/3 city driving. I love the car except for the seats. Considering selling because of them.
We had an Altima rental car and could not believe how nice the seats were. Got back in my Camry and they felt like sitting on a board in comparison. Hopefully 2024 next generation they make a change.
There is remote start on the fob...press the lock button 3 times and hold it down on the 3rd press till the lights stop flashing. Loving the 50 mpg average on my '22 Camry Hybrid LE
4:05 Just wondering but in previous Camry models (starting from ‘18), I’m pretty sure that the Pano roof was an option on the XLE/XSE non V6 models. Is this still not the case?
I have a 2022 Camry Hybrid XSE...the best mileage I have gotten out of it is around 45 MPG...now this is City and Highway combined and with a light foot.
I have a buddy that works for Kia and I asked him about the K5 getting discontinued rumors and he said it’s not true at all so the K5 is not going anywhere anytime soon only the stinger is getting discontinued

I have a Chevy Bolt EUV. I got it for under $20k with the tax credit. I charge for free at work. Look at getting an EV over a hybrid unless you drive do 500+ mile road trips consistently, which very few people do.
Bad advice if you don't live in an area friendly to EVs and/or if it's your only vehicle. Most of the country you can drive hundreds of miles without seeing a single recharge station. An EV really only makes sense as a secondary vehicle or if you live in some place friendly to EVs (California).
@@trevorweinstock4867 Your case isn't everyone else's case... a good chunk of people do long drives... an EV is, as I mentioned best as a 2nd vehicle not a primary, unless you just never go anywhere (once again, not most people).
My nephew bought a Bolt also. He lives in Nashville and installed a charger at his house . He is extremely happy with his vehicle and the way it works for his daily driver.
I don’t understand the whole 0-60 thing, it’s not like you’re going to leave your garage or driveway going 0-60, unless you literally live next to a highway otherwise it doesn’t matter and the most important thing is quality and fuel mileage. 0-60 are for old guys driving mustangs and challengers.
Toyota learned from low sales in the past years that the Camry is not a Michael J Fox car rather a family car, so they decided to go back to kinda 2003 gen Camry design by starting to trim the ugly grill which to me was the best design.
Sofyan you made a mistake. The panoramic roof is available with the regular 4 cylinder XLE XSE. You just can’t get it on the hybrid Plus the rear USB charge ports are a dealer accessory. My 2020 XSE came with them as an accessory
@LS dog walker I like my cars with some flavor and pizazz! This Camry is like eating food with no seasoning. But hey, some people are into that blandness. And just to be clear, I'm talking about this specific XLE hybrid trim. SE and XSE is the trim to go with, like Sofyan said.

When looking for a 2023 hybrid, obviously the Prius is a totally different class of vehicle. However with the updated interior, driving dynamics (compared to prior gen), and power, how would you rate this compared to the new Prius? Or would it be best, if one is considering a Camry, to just wait for 2024 where the Camry will likely benefit from Toyota's newfound styling language and performance philosophy.
I think the Prius is the better option all around. Especially because of its hatch, better performance, tech/style, mpg, and price. I will say if you frequently carry passenger or commute on the highway a ton, the Camry will likely be smoother and has more rear passenger space.
@@ayushmalpeddi2793 yeah as a solo driver and potentially sleep-in-car-roadtripper the Prius is a no brainer. I'm actually thinking of leasing the new Prius for a couple years to leave my options open for a redesigned Camry though. I do enjoy the handling and driving dynamics of a larger midsize sedan, but I am more interested in a plug in hybrid which there is currently no word on in the Camry.
The biggest downside to the Prius will be the skinny tires that hamper handling and braking performance along with less sound insulation. So if you do a lot of highway the Camry is the way to go.
I’m not too sure why you keep saying the panoramic sunroof is only available on the V6 trims, you even have older videos of the 4 cylinder with awd and a panosunroof, they just don’t offer panoramic sunroofs on any of the hybrid trims.
How’s the Camry compared to a Lexus Es ? I have a 10 year old ES 300h ‘fully loaded’ that still drives awesome. The prices have gone ⬆️ and I want a hybrid electric (I still am hesitant to get a fully electric). What are some good options? Any suggestions where I can save for retirement is appreciated
Good to know that the seats are comfortable to you. Comfort is one of my biggest concerns. If you don’t mind me asking, how tall are you? I’m 6’1”, and although the seat bottoms are short in the Camry, the leather seats in the XLE seemed comfortable, but you can’t always tell in a short, 15 minute test drive. My 2022 camry hybrid does not have this feature. 1 free year of remote from my phone , $80 a year after that.
It doesnt work on every camry with a smart key. From what i have seen it only works on the ones that have either the cold weather package and or the Sirius xm package
My 2020 XSE has remote start w the fob. I’ve used it even after the trial expired and it works
@@thacarter497Or if you have JBL sound system
I was looking for this comment, I got it with the convenience package!
Can’t wait for Toyota to unveil the 2024 model!
The Mazda 6 was discontinued over a year ago and Chevy still makes the Malibu.
Hyunda does make the Ioniq 6 and that's a sedan. It's all-electric. So, they'll still have a sedan if they drop the Sonata. I hope not. Plus the Sonata is much less money than the Ioniq 6.
Toyota needs to release an Awd hybrid Camry with a V6 engine. Would be the ultimate vehicle.
Love the exterior interior color combination ,a sound buy
Can't wait for a GR Camry.
LoL! The sun will burn out first.
How is the ride quality and quitness between XSE and XLE? I like the XSE styling but prefer the smoother quieter ride. Thanks.
The Panoramic Sunroof is offered on the 4cyl XSE/XLE as optional. There’s a lot of them with the motor of the sunroof failing and getting stuck on the “open” position.
Isn’t the center rubber seal the main culprit? That’s what I’ve heard
My 2020 Camry pano roof hasn’t broken (yet)
That is why I always keep a waterproof Sombrero in the trunk.
If they added a rear electric motor, it would be perfect!
Exterior is good. Interior does not compare with others in this class segment ... Slainte' ! Cheers !
I happen to really like the firm seats in my 2023 Camry XLE.
300,000+ units is still impressive for a sedan, especially the Camry. Not even the majority of crossovers sell this well individually. Curious what the next gen Camry will be like.
Only the Rav-4 outsells this for Toyota. The Rav-4 records unbelievable sales for some reason. CRV is far behind.
New Crown or Prius. Would hope somewhat more like the Prius but probably have more Crown in it.
Another great review!
You can start the engine if you press the lock twice and hold it for a bit.
There is remote start on the fob...press the lock button 3 times and hold it down on the 3rd press till the lights stop flashing.
Loving the 50 mpg average on my '22 Camry Hybrid LE
I am torn between this model or the 2023 Prius xle. I still don’t know which to get.
Wait for the next generation one that is likely coming out late this year.
Can't wait to see accord Sport hybrid in action
The seats in my dad’s 2018 XSE are hard and uncomfortable but the seats in my 2019 SE are a bit softer and they’re good enough for me
Toyota #1. Topgun 😎
Best hybrid engines made today ✅
4:05 Just wondering but in previous Camry models (starting from ‘18), I’m pretty sure that the Pano roof was an option on the XLE/XSE non V6 models. Is this still not the case?
You can still get a panoramic roof on the non V6 XLE/XSE models but not on the hybrids.
Thanks for the review! I always race my Toyotas 0-60. Lol
I keep mine pegged at the red line.
I have a 2022 Camry Hybrid XSE...the best mileage I have gotten out of it is around 45 MPG...now this is City and Highway combined and with a light foot.
@@redroverredrover5311 Have you ever reset it? It will always just be the total average if you never reset it.
I have a buddy that works for Kia and I asked him about the K5 getting discontinued rumors and he said it’s not true at all so the K5 is not going anywhere anytime soon only the stinger is getting discontinued
Wow, that first sentence sent be back in time “for nearly 40 years”, I’m nearly 50 and remember them when they first came around. They’ve come a LONG way. Neighbor had an 87ish Camry and they’ve always had a reputation for being very reliable
How long is Toyota gonna wait to update infotainment on this
I have a Chevy Bolt EUV.
@@wolfshanze5980 I live in Florida. I only need a charging station if I drive 250 miles in a day. I haven’t done that in years.
It looks so much like the Lexus ES that’s what I like about the Camry
The whole Camry is very Lexus like especially in the XLE XSE trims
I don’t understand the whole 0-60 thing, it’s not like you’re going to leave your garage or driveway going 0-60, unless you literally live next to a highway otherwise it doesn’t matter and the most important thing is quality and fuel mileage. 0-60 are for old guys driving mustangs and challengers.
The panoramic sunroof IS optional on 4 cylinder XLE and XSE models, but yeah, not on the Hybrids
You just can’t get it on the hybrid
Plus the rear USB charge ports are a dealer accessory. My 2020 XSE came with them as an accessory
your " mom's"
@@mikej238 🤦🏻♂️ I’m not gonna say it again. I own the car. Everything’s in my name
@@naveenthemachine 😂 you " own " nothing. Get to class.
The beginning of this video sounds like the intro for Alex on Autos. That sort of space or older sci-fi vibe to it.
I keep cracking up every time Sofyan says how plain this Camry is, because it's soo true! 😂😂😂 This Camry just screams substitute teacher car!
@LS dog walker Umm, yeah about that Venza..lol
@@jraheemjefcoat429 yeah he’s not getting what you’re saying. You’re saying DONT BUY A CRAPPY BORING TOYOTA like what I’ve been saying. He’s saying look at another model WERE saying look at another BRAND😂😂😂. Brainwashed by “reliability “. Tuh.
@@Natethegreat200c You hit the nail on a hammer!! I checked out when he mentioned the senior citizen inspired Venza! 😂😂😂
So if you do a lot of highway the Camry is the way to go.
how is the transition from electric to gas?
Is the Avalon cut from Toyota? I actually really love the last Avalon model
The avalons gone. The crown clown sedan is replacing it
It would be cool to see toyota put the GR Corolla power train in it of course without the manual
A agree!
I’m not too sure why you keep saying the panoramic sunroof is only available on the V6 trims, you even have older videos of the 4 cylinder with awd and a panosunroof, they just don’t offer panoramic sunroofs on any of the hybrid trims.
You can remote start from the fob if you hit it 3 times.
We should see a new Camry this year for the 2024 model year
Sofyan sounds bored. Not a bad thing for the best appliance ever made.
Does this car switch to ev mode even with the a/c on at a stop light?
What do you think about 2023 TRD?
The Subaru Legacy is also decent option in this class for those shopping.
Remote start should work by click the lock 3x and holding it the 3rd time, until you see the car turn on. At least that's how it is on my SE.
The remote start is a hidden feature on the key fob. Press lock button 3 times, on the 3rd time, it starts! @redline reviews
The Camry now has a lot more features and now a significantly better infotainment
The V6 Toyota Aurions that were Australian built were the best everyday Toyota sedans
I just ordered 6 of these for my business.
I think this is a great car .
My 2015 Camry started to have major problems around 120k miles
Does it come as a liftback model? A hatchback?
whats with the strobe display?
Who's the older guy in the picture in your phone????
The Mazda 6 and the Nissan Maxima are no longer sold in the States. 😢😢
When did the Mazda 6 come back?
Can you order a car in the US with black interior?
that flickering screen gave me anxiety oh my
The front end reverting back to an older Rav 4.
Waiting for new bodystyle 2024 camry. Hope will look good
Sucks to hear the seats in the XLE are hard and uncomfortable. The seats in my 23 xse are some of the most comfortable seats I have ever been in.
Both the XSE and the XLE have the same seats.
My 2015 Camry XSE 2.5 4 cylinder seats aren’t necessarily uncomfortable however they can use a bit more padding.
I agree. I had a 2015 Camry XSE V-6 (my brother owns the car now) & they were defiantly on the firm side, same with my moms 2017 XLE 4-cylinder.
Why Toyota not offering Camry hybrid with AWD?
Expect one later this year.
USB for back seat is optional I think
What is 2023 Camry Modellista 2.5 Hybrid?
You can get the pano roof on the 4 cylinder
The interior is definitely outdated, ngl. Even the 2022 and prior Accord look so much better, IMO. Not gonna even talk about the redesigned 2023 models 😊
I think the 2020 Camry interior is better than the 2021 model. Because the screens flush in the center stack. Nothing sticks up
Anyone know if its possible to rent one of these cars for a day or so to see how you like it? Considering everything is a bit subjective
Enterprise Rental has hybrid Camry in their fleet.
