Sonic X-treme’s music feels like it was just made to be unreleased. The music seems for forbidden and mysterious in nature. Love beta windy valley in general, it’s just way more fun and cooler to explore.
I agree 100%. I have a lost media and beta content video planned, and in it, I'll be pointing out that X-Treme is far more interesting in terms of its legacy than it was as a game. The fisheye lens and shifting gravity features look nauseating, and it went through so many stages of development, it just feels like a doomed project from the start. Space Queens is a catchy and wonderous theme, but I can't imagine the series transitioning into 3D without a rockin' vocal theme like Open Your Heart. Sonic Adventure being released instead just feels like it was meant to happen.
@@TheElectroNuke yeah x-treme just seems like it was TOO creative. Like a kid who’s in over their own head. From the extra cat girl character, to as you said - the multiple stages of development, I could never imagine it coming out. My soul still itched for a more complete demo though, just a 3 stage demon would be enough.
By "cat girl", I assume you're referring to the scrapped character Tiara. Reminds me of how Sonic had a human love interest planned at the start of the series, but they made the wise decision to scrap her altogether. I personally think the games should stick with an on-and-off relationship between him and Amy. BTW, if you're looking for a 3-world demo, there's a 4-world demo for something called X-Treme Unity. It's the most faithful recreation of X-Treme that I've tried so far.
Lowkey genius idea to do a playthrough but present it as development footage. Makes your video stand out compared to most playthroughs of the game.

This does remind me of how it looked when I first played it, since I only had RF cables at the time. Going from this to SA2 with a locked 60fps and RGB Scart was mindblowing. Nothing besides seeing a game in 3D for the first time comes close.

As someone who is a huge fan of Sonic Adventure, it really is a huge discovery of finding something like this.

Nice to know that others have that same fantasty of reliving the 90's, yes... this lighting is better and WAYYY better lighting here on emerald coast! always a huge shame the original version of windy valley never made it. will prob. never get an answer to that, i love all the little tweaks you did... like having tails be with sonic everywhere, during the boss battles and going down with him on snowboard- that was awesome!!

After a few woman talking about chao i was expecting one to say "I've been single for a long time but i want kids. I visit the chao garden alot. I think of them as my kids."
So, they're like lonely cat ladies, except with chao? That's certainly satirical enough, but not quite self-referential enough.

If they kept Beta Windy Valley, it would have been the best level. Possibly even better than Red Mountain.
WHY DOES THIS BETA MUSIC GO SOO MOUCH HARDER THAN THE ORIGINAL
The Character Select Art is nice, some sound effects are missing for the End Act Counter(1st boss fight) for rings etc.
Lava Powerhouse familiarity to it in music.
The only thing that made no sense is Lightning Shield, it wouldn't short out in Water.
It's not lightning shield, it's a magnetic shield. None of elemental shields from S3&K appear in Dreamcast era games
But do magnets work underwater...?
4:30 This part was the part I have been looking for!🤣 The way his spines move is really funny, they just spread apart on each side of his head, never seen that happen in any other Sonic game!
That's a classic scene, but I think there's more unintentional comedic value than people realize. Back in 1998, it was impressive just to have fully animated, voice-acted, and lip-synced cutscenes that told a story, so not only was Sonic Team trying their best to make the characters emote as much as possible, but there are so many awkward cut-offs to voice clips and animations that give the game its outdated charm. I like to replay the clip of Sonic falling into the jungle and flattening like a pancake as much as possible just because the lack of music and sound cues add to the slapstick humor without playing it up too much.
This is so awesome.

If we get a Sonic Adventure remaster next year, it's gotta look like this! Plus as a neat bonus they could add the beta windy valley as a bonus unlockable stage (like Proto Palace in Sonic 2 2013)

I was sitting here thinking the same. They can also implement Super Sonic and the unused Tikal voice clip, Knuckles unused combo moves etc.
So Knuckles’ line delivery is just flat out better for the entire beta. Huh.

I wish SEGA realized how good Windy Valley was… before it became nothing OF a valley.
I see a lot of things that are not accurate to the DC version. Like the 60fps, in the DC version, it was running at a choppy 30fps not at a 60fps.
and i see you used the hd gui mod. The resolution is not at 480p like the original, this collection of mods can be a bit more improved, Sonic's jumpball is different in the autodemo and blah blah blah the saturn models used in sky chase, blah blah it has to be in japanese, anyways, i recommend deactivating the improvement mods, except the DC conversion, lantern engine and all DC recreation mods)
Overall, These are just tips, your video is not bad, it is really good recreating, i criticise cause my dumb mind can't think anything more than complaining about anyone's videos about the beta. I really understand that you tried your best searching all the mods and downloading them. And also that it can't be 100% accurate. However, if there were much more beta mods like the Autodemo conversion that were trying their best to have all the beta assets and stuff in one mod, we would have a true beta experience.

There's a new beta lightning mod now.
There's a new version of it now. It just features some optional alternative lighting files. The default lighting files were used in this series.
i downloaded everything in your description only beta fixes showed up in the mod loader all the others didnt and it didnt change anything about the game did i do something wrong? help lol

That's the museum theme from Sonic Jam. I added it because the Sonic World
feature from that game was technically the earliest known prototype of Sonic Adventure.

Well, they shouldn't be from Jam, but there was originally a more classic-looking model for Sonic. There are mods that restore it, but they don't have any facial animations.
