This guide makes more sense less as a “how to efficiently beat the game” and more of a “how to beat the game in a way that shows off how cool it is”. Like the homing attack was revolutionary so of course they wanna show it off, it points out all the fun hidden routes, and the prettiest parts of the stage. Makes sense to me.
Sonic's Biazarre Adventure chronology:
Part 1: Phantom Ring
Part 2: Running tendency
Part 3: Stardust Runners
Part 4: Ring is unbreakable
Part 5:Golden ring
Part 6: Ring ocean
Part 7: Steel ring run
Part 8: Ringolion
@peely plays Aw cmon, couldn't you try a little harder?
Well for me it was hard for some time because of a glitch in sky chase where the skybox for the map made the in game cutscenes dark so it was hard to make out what was going on but once I did the stage by quitting and redoing it, it was fixed

So that's it, Sonic Adventure is a hunting game after all.
We must hunt down those animals to feed Chao
Don't worry, by Gamma's logic Sonic "rescued" those bots.

Nah he accidentally googled ‘sonic adventure genocide guide’ lmao
4:25 I think it's referring to the easter egg where if you keep getting rings after 400 you build the Golden Sonic statue seen in Knuckles' version of the stage which takes 5,000 rings. So no, 1,500 rings was not enough, this video is now completely invalidated.
I learned that one off the sonic adventure home page (Yea I technically did this in a way but with the homepage by sega not their guide)
Man, I sure do like Sonic adventure.
Same here
I like sa2 even tho it can't beat the 2nd egg man stage on dark story and I can't beat pumpkin hill
The first one was cool but the story and gameplay dont compare to the sequel imo

You have to do Big the Cat's story how Sega intended it. I'd imagine the guide would actually point out a lot of the optional areas and collectables and actually make for a different experience than most people have with Big, where they're trying to beat his four stages as fast as possible.
Surprisingly it's actually super helpful for Big's section. In addition to simply telling you where Froggy is straight up, if you want all the emblems, it gives actually good advice about it, such as pre-selecting a target fish by using Big's stomach as a measuring stick. It also gives a trick that's very important for quickly finding 2000g fish: if you hook Froggy and then release him without catching him, it will respawn all the other fish as well (it's possible to do this without snapping your line and losing a life). On Emerald Coast killing a Kiki will also respawn the fish for some reason.
It also has insanely good advice for chasing down large fish. Unlike other fishing minigames where the fish effectively has "HP" that needs to be worn down to catch it, you catch fish with Big when they come close enough to him (but they have to start a certain distance away); by using the float belt to fish from the water, you can put the fish between yourself and a wall, severely limiting the distance it can run and sometimes causing the fish to run into you and be instantly caught when it thrashes. It removed A LOT of the hassle and is just generally good advice, unlike a lot of the rest of the guide... I guess someone on staff enjoys the off-brand SEGA Bass Fishing experience as much as I did.
@@RagnellAvalon I liked Big's story, I thought it was just long enough and that the fishing mechanics were fun and well-made.
I always took SA1 as a tech-demo, so I liked seeing so many gameplay styles and gimmicks crammed into it.

@@nayanar1598 if you played the stage as knuckles you might blow up that large staute in the middle of the casino for an emerald. As sonic, if you kept playing and dumping more rings in the vault you'd eventually form that statue. Kind of fun but takes way too long.

in my most recent play through of Sonic Adventure I found out that you had to pick up and throw the ice bombs at Chaos 6. For several years I’ve done the strategy of waiting for a bomb to land right next to Chaos so that when I hit it it blows up next to his face and freezes him or hitting a bomb right before he does his inhale attack. I guess I really needed that strategy guide.
Wait WHAT
I ... I have been playing this game for 6 years and I only found out about this last month
I didn't know how to beat chaos 6 until i looked it up online.
I just homing attacked them.
Just WAIT until you find out about the strategy of incapacitating several robots at once since they don't despawn if they're hit. You can just keep tossing them at Chaos and hitting him without having to wait for cycles.
I like how the guide says to kill all the enemies. You can only hold like 10 animals for the Chao Garden so there's no reason to go after everyone, but it's like the writer was on this like moral crusade to free every single animal in the game or something, it's great.
Also if you get 5000 rings in Casinopolis you build a statue of Sonic. It's the same one that Knuckles can break in his version of the stage. It uh... takes a while to build, even with the rather efficent strategy of going backwards in the sewers to collect like 300 rings or so each time, so I can't say I'd reccommend trying it, but it is cool!
I did it once and it took me around 50 minutes to gather those 5000 rings. Never again.
I think Sonic Adventure was just the friends we made along the way

oh buddy you just earned a subscriber for all of your comments LOL my favorite is "Now I've come to rely on this guide quite a bit; I dunno if I can make my own decisions here. Luckily for me, my extreme wit of being able to see where the spike ball is about to move helps me avoid it." i ended up wheezing. thanks for the laugh, i needed it
It's not a problem that the guide doesn't specify anything for Sky Chase.
Go to a corner, stay there, and spam the shoot button - then you just win.
It's very well designed like that.
Back in the 90s, I hated most guides because they weren't very helpful and I remember going to walmart just to read sections of some game I got stuck on and I would read a part over and over because it was vague information at best and I would go home and either figure it out or be frustrated until my mom could take me back to try again. I was like 9 or 10.

This game is, like, 20 years old, but it is just *gorgeous.* I feel really cheated that the director's cut was my first exposure to it. It looks so flat and lifeless by comparison.
The DX version looks better, what are you on?

Sonic's movement is so buttery smooth in this game. Adventure 2 feels slightly tighter but still lovely. Then... Heroes.
Heroes physics are slippery as frick.
@@roby4504 you just suck
Heroes movement engine is literally just SA2 but at like 2x, 1x and 0,5x for speed, power and fly characters. You can even see the same wonkyness of Heroes special stages in SA2 levels like pyramid cave
What. I never knew there was a 1-up in speed highway on top of the building. I love adventure 2 but adventure 1 REALLY hit the spot with the open level design.
I'm STILL learning new stuff about it.
About the mirrors in Lost World, it technically says "you must do it to get the A Emblem", not "you must do it if you are going for the A Emblem". You did do it, but you didn't get the A Emblem.
2:28 Yo tails your eye ok?
Fun fact for ya! The reason why Sky Chase 1 and 2 didn't have anything in the guide about them is because the stage was changed. Originally the stage contained a boss!
Sky Chase act 2 has a boss.
4:20
Sonic: *takes shower
Also Sonic: *has shield
Given that he can drown with a shield, water seems to be able to pass through them without issue.
That’s what I did my first time playing adventure like 4 weeks ago
I think it's really neat that the guide tells you to go out of your way to destroy badniks in a level. Sonic wants to free those animals, taking more time to destroy the badniks is what he would do.
will you do it with all characters or sonic adventure 2? would love to see it
probably not unless this video does really well. and still probably not even if the video does do well, this took a lot more time to make than I was expecting when I started and I'd like to try new things and move on instead of constantly revisiting older things I've done
It's actually kinda cool it shows some skips, it's trying to incentive that to a new player
It’s crazy to think this game was almost an RPG.
I would’ve played that
I think that's why it has hub worlds, upgrades, collectible emblems, Chao Garden with stats grinding and an elaborate storyline
Imagine if the guide mentioned building the golden sonic statue in casinopolis. There's you an extra hour on your playthrough.
I am probably WAYY too late to say this considering this was made 3 years ago, but what helps me in sky chase 1 and 2 is to just SPAM THE HELL OUT OF THE SHOOT BUTTON 😂
Oh boy, "as [insert] intended it" is becoming a trend.

Nice vid, gotta remember that at the time this was the first fully 3d game children may have played. The guide wasn't written for 30 year olds with a lifetime of gaming under their belt.
Fortunately, Prima has embraced the new wave of the web. They're obviously not as big as before, but they're still around.
I went to their website, clicked on Sonic Mania Plus, and then saw that they had an article on the Sonic Mania Plus Advertisment.
I never knew you could pick up the downed freeze bots in the Chaos 6 fight. I always thought the difficulty of the fight was trying to bait him into using his suck attack to suck those into himself...
You don't have the Dreamcast water enabled. I see you're using the Dreamcast conversion mod but you didn't select Dreamcast water when you installed it so I guess you're not playing as SEGA intended? ;3
wow this was a critical error I am so sorry
I remember completing Big the Cat's story without getting a single power up. Didn't even know they existed until AFTER completion lol.
CONGRATULATIONS! you have obtained the *F I S H* medal!
The reason you have to kill every enemy is for score, but also because canonically sonic destroys every single badnik in the game. This has been confirmed since sonic 1, sonic kills every Badnik in the game in order to free the imprisoned animals. The entire premise of sonic 1 was sonic freeing the imprisoned animals, and since sonic is a hero he’s destroying all the enemies to “free the animals from their metal prison.”
But yeah, in canon sonic destroys every single badnik in the game. He’s trying to free the animals from slavery
This is honestly a pretty cool idea. People should do more challenges like this
This was amazing! Definitely gonna check out more videos!

As someone who speedruns this game and is deeply interested in game design and how it relates to my utter subversion of its goals in the playstyle I find the most fun to approach this game with, RUclips’s algorithm couldn’t have been more correct in suggesting a video I’d potentially take some interest in. pretty sure the developers (sega in this case) have very little, if anything, to do with the creation of the strategy guide. fun fact, despite this guide specifically being branded for the DX version of the game, it also contains tips that only apply to the dreamcast version, such as a map for Chao Adventure
At first, I was confused why the guide kept mentioning the timer… and then I remembered….
SA1 has beating preset time attack goals as a part of 100% completion. Possibly my least favorite part of Sonic games… as a requirement for at least a good fourth of the emblems.
