"The Fugitive escaped from jail, in burning Hell." - this riddle quest has always been imprinted into my mind as a kid because I thought this line was pretty scary. (It's the items you could find in DX, they were all hidden and only to be found by riddles. This particular one was for Red Mountain act 2, aimed towards the figures inside their jails...in "burning hell".)
the thing abt amy potentially wearing inhibitor rings gave me a headcanon idea. mayb she can run as fast as sonic, but wears the inhibitor rings so she can live a normal humanlike lifestyle (since she's seen carrying groceries in the beginning of her story meaning she probably even has her own apartment, and way of earning money) and doesnt want to tear around everywhere too fast. and she doesnt take them off bc shes so used to them being on, that she forgets they're even there! (and shes not really the sharpest tool in the shed...)

It was found by Chariii5 in his can you beat sa1 as Big and as Gamma challenges that in Tails's story, Sonic will stop if he gets too far in front of Tails. This is not just a bug because when Tails races Eggman, he does not wait. That proves that this behavior was coded in on purpose.
Both sonic adventure games were so mysterious to me. I played them back in the early 2000s on the game cube. At that time the internet wasn’t was popular ,especially for a kid in a family that didn’t use computers much , so finding weird mysterious things in the game was so crazy cus only the only people you could talk to were kids at the playground or siblings
I could be wrong, but I don't think Knuckles ever had a different voice actor in the E3 demo. I just think Michael McGaharn played him differently originally and then he had to re-record his lines for some reason. Honestly, I think his first take was better.
The sorry Charlie one is actually a reference to the starkest tuna fish mascot Charlie where at the end of each commercial they would say “sorry Charlie” when something bad happened to Charlie
I have another theory that _Sonic Adventure_ and _Sonic Adventure 2_ were inspired by _AKIRA._ The destruction of Station Square (by a blob monster no less) and its flooding is very reminiscent of how Neo-Tokyo looked as it was being destroyed. Shadow is a hidden military experiment hidden away in stasis accessible via a funicular tunnel like the manga's namesake and Dr. Eggman's english voice sounds similar to Colonel Shikishima's voice in the Streamline dub of the film.
Two things I feel should've been added. 1) Game Apologiest found out that the mysterious Metal Sonic is actually a MechaGodzilla reference, as his design is heavily based on the mecha. 2) Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #4 (2021) actually has a villan's hideout be a 1 to 1 recreation of the SA1 casino, down to the floating hint computer outside.
Yeah, I remember Nick's video came out a few days after mine and he replied to a comment on this video about the MechaGodzilla revelation. Regarding the Batman fact, that's really cool, thanks
A Note about the title card jingles; the Egg Carrier jingle is used in the final game during the Egg carrier transformation cutscenes. The Station Square jingle was used in a PC demo for Sonic Adventure DX. After completing any of the demo levels a screen would appear saying, "Thanks for playing, see you in the retail version!" The jingle would play over that screen.
Gogdamn! This is fascinating. The only bit of trivia I can offer is in the "Sold Out" port of SADX has the Japanese dialogue present- and can be played in a CD Player (thats how I accidentally found the dialogue). I did this as I heard the "Xplosive" ports work in CDPlayers- I can at least say the Sonic R port dose & doubles as a music CD (the Xplosive port of SADX is impossible to find).
@@JohnnyVector Just a little warning Track 1 should be unplayable as that's most likely the game data - but I found out some CD players try to interpret it as sound resulting in digital screeching.
You know, I never expected someone to actually use one of my clips (14:43, Alex's Craphole is my secondary channel, also, the Red Mountain tutorial is a leftover from the TGS 1998 demo which had Red Mountain as Knuckles' stage).

@@ThatBugBehindYou to be fair the game would be so much better without the automated segments, its why the new games are unplayable for me since they quadrupled down on auto-game spectacle.
@@KaiserMattTygore927 To be Fair automated segments were the backbone of Sonic since the loop in Sonic 1 and the automated segments could be messed with in the original adventure game just like they could in Sonic 1. I agree that the level of On-Rails experience we have now is outrageous but big spectacle moments in at least one or two stages that only last 5% of the stage itself are enjoyable to see and it's really honestly hard to agree that the game would be better without them. Regardless none of this has to do with my snarky crap comment, the thing I was describing was my frustration with people KNOWING something won't work and complaining about it only to pretend like they never knew doing the thing they complained about not working, shockingly, doesn't work.

14:07 It's a reference to a brand of tuna called StarKist Tuna, whose mascot is a blue tuna named Charlie. In the commercials, Charlie wanted to be caught and used in StarKist Tuna because he "had good taste" (because pun). But people would tell him "Sorry, Charlie" because it would result in his death.
While the GC version of DX has worse controls and lighting vs. the Dreamcast version, the GC version had skippable cutscenes, better water textures, actual rewards for getting emblems and an improved Station Square Chao Garden.

pretty sure the Chaos Emeralds used to be Super Emeralds at the past and Sonic 3 and Knuckles just give the chance to play through a "what if" by letting Sonic turn these back to their original form to become hyper.
The “Sorry Charlie” monitor is also present during the other stories as I’ve seen it on Sonic and Tails’ stories as well. It’s also slang for “get over it!”

(It's the items you could find in DX, they were all hidden and only to be found by riddles. This particular one was for Red Mountain act 2, aimed towards the figures inside their jails...in "burning hell".)
It's from the "Mission Mode" if I recall, not really an item as much as a "hint" on how to complete the "Mission"
the thing abt amy potentially wearing inhibitor rings gave me a headcanon idea. mayb she can run as fast as sonic, but wears the inhibitor rings so she can live a normal humanlike lifestyle (since she's seen carrying groceries in the beginning of her story meaning she probably even has her own apartment, and way of earning money) and doesnt want to tear around everywhere too fast. and she doesnt take them off bc shes so used to them being on, that she forgets they're even there! (and shes not really the sharpest tool in the shed...)
Interesting theory, I like it!
she does have an apartment in sonic battle, also the not taking them off might just be a stylistic choice

A few slips of the tongue...
- SADX is an enhanced port, not a remake
- Mexico is in Central America, not South America. I didn't make that distinction when discussing the team's trip!

Mexico is in North America, not Central America
Both sonic adventure games were so mysterious to me. I played them back in the early 2000s on the game cube. At that time the internet wasn’t was popular ,especially for a kid in a family that didn’t use computers much , so finding weird mysterious things in the game was so crazy cus only the only people you could talk to were kids at the playground or siblings
28:06 the Chaos Emeralds usually turn super when powered up by the Master Emerald, so I feel like this was intentional
I could be wrong, but I don't think Knuckles ever had a different voice actor in the E3 demo. I just think Michael McGaharn played him differently originally and then he had to re-record his lines for some reason. Honestly, I think his first take was better.
Wasn't Scott Dreier the one who got into the final release?
@@ucielsan Scott Dreier didn't get the role until Sonic Adventure 2. In SA1, it was Michael McGaharn.
@@KingdomHeartsBrawler Oh! Really? Wow, thanks!
Ah, thanks for clarifying that one!
I prefer the final version
Really enjoyed this! Fantastic details and I really appreciated the choice of footage to add to each point.
Thanks! Glad to hear you liked it
The sorry Charlie one is actually a reference to the starkest tuna fish mascot Charlie where at the end of each commercial they would say “sorry Charlie” when something bad happened to Charlie
You know ts gonna be good when you're finding out new things about your favorite game before you even hit the water.
@@JohnnyVector I like to think it's in reference to how Roger Craig Smith voiced Batman in Arkham Origins.
Bruh Big got the good shit 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

Love SA1 and SA2 so much ! The music is just *chef kiss
Totally agree
Thanks! That is really interesting. I actually have the "Xplosive" Sonic R somewhere and I never knew you could pop it in a CD player. Awesome.
@@JohnnyVector Just a little warning Track 1 should be unplayable as that's most likely the game data - but I found out some CD players try to interpret it as sound resulting in digital screeching.
If Big was canonically a stoner I would unironically love him.
Never played Sonic Adventures but I had fun watching this video and I was engaged throughout, keep up the good work :)
Not capping, one of the best RUclips videos I've seen this year. Criminal how low that subscriber count is. Can't wait to see more content like this.
Thanks, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video!
Who remembers Sonic being in NBA 2K1 doing his Sonic Adventure pose holding a basketball?
God, I really need to replay the adventure games again. So many good childhood memories with friends, playing through the levels and the Chao garden.
You know, I never expected someone to actually use one of my clips (14:43, Alex's Craphole is my secondary channel, also, the Red Mountain tutorial is a leftover from the TGS 1998 demo which had Red Mountain as Knuckles' stage).
Man you just keep covering my favorite games! SADX is the game I play the most on the GameCube along with Madden 08. Amazing video, hope you continue to make more.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I have fond memories of SADX for the GameCube as well!
Your channel is great! I've fallen in love with your content, keep up with the good work.
I swear everytime I hear about the DX version and the loop in Emerald coast makes me face plam everytime, since it only glitches if you were to stop your moment for whatever reason. And some people just don't seem to get that
>complain that Sonic Adventure is on rails and has too many spectacles that locks you in running straight only
>try to do literally everything other than running straight during every spectacle moment in the game
>complain that the game is broken
It's like they understand the game completely and are complete morons who can't comprehend the understanding they have at the same time.
Still doesn’t make it okay tho..
The small fact that you can easily fall through the terrain beforehand though isn't something that can be brushed off.
@@ThatBugBehindYou to be fair the game would be so much better without the automated segments, its why the new games are unplayable for me since they quadrupled down on auto-game spectacle.
@@KaiserMattTygore927
To be Fair automated segments were the backbone of Sonic since the loop in Sonic 1 and the automated segments could be messed with in the original adventure game just like they could in Sonic 1.
Love this video a lot. A technical breakdown of an issue i didn’t know i had any investment in. Grew up loving Sonic in the 90s but fell off in the 2010s. As a returning fan videos like this are a blast to watch
The Egg Carrier jingle plays during the transformation of the Egg Carrier scenes.
Love the Sonic 3 & Knuckles iceberg video so it is a treat to see this being made too. The Adventure games seem to have a lot of intresting behind the scenes and beta stuff though that can be thanks to it being the first really 3D games of the series. I am surprised that the Archie Sonic Adventure aduptation wasn't mentioned because looking back at that aduptation, it is pretty bizarre.
Thanks! I've not read any of the Archie Sonic run, but I've always wanted to because it looks pretty interesting to say the least. I'll have to check it out!
You've managed to find new information from SA1 that I had no idea about. That's not easy 😅
Excellent video. New sub for sure
Thanks! Seems I missed out on this one as I've never seen that brand over here in the UK
Imagine being an Amazon tribesman and one day an effergy of an animal-headed god falls from the sky.
When I saw the thumbnail I said "what is Michael Jackson doing there?"
I never thought Michal Jackson would have any connections to sonic but here we are
While the GC version of DX has worse controls and lighting vs. the Dreamcast version, the GC version had skippable cutscenes, better water textures, actual rewards for getting emblems and an improved Station Square Chao Garden.
and arguably the best part: twice the framerate
good thing we got the better SADX mod
The title card jingles are really cool. The third is especially creepy, but in a good way.
That Egg Carrier jingle for the loading screen matches up with the Egg Carrier Transforming cutscenes
19:22 Dabbing, he was ahead of his time
I love your channel, not only are your videos pretty good but you also got a lot of variety!
Thanks a lot!
26:40 - There’s also a 1998 SEGA arcade game called SpikeOut which has some prototype Sonic redesign artwork (with green eyes) displayed on a wall in the SEGA Mall level.
Interesting, thanks!
24:30 and 24:40
Sonic.exe: WRITE THAT DOWN!! WRITE THAT DOWN!!
19:44
Amy forgot to put her pink fur paint on! XD
The egg carrier Adventure field jingle is actually used during the Egg Carrier's transformation phase before Sky Deck.
I'm exclusively a Sonic Genesis Era/Collection/Origins Fan I'm just here for the Michael Jackson cameo you had in the thumbnail, and I got a bonus half life fact. Thank you for not disappointing good sir, have a great day.
Thanks a lot!
That “oh no” was the greatest inside joke for years in my childhood. Teacher sending you to the office? Oh no. Parents getting a divorced? Oh no. Sexually assaulted by a childhood friend you trusted since you were 4? Oh no.
*sonic adventure iceberg is uploaded*
Me:aW YeAH tHiS iS HAppenING!
wasn't chaos already a sympathetic badguy?
Ha yeah, fair point, my bad! Meant to say even more hyper sympathetic
He is, but i feel like Shadow, is even more sympathetic than Chaos.
Yes.
The Echidna trampled over his brethren (the chao) thus causing Chaos to go mad and slaughter their civilization.
you know, for KIDS!

Wow I've been playing this game since I was like 5, and I didn't even know some of the stuff at the tip of the iceberg. Great vid!
Awesome, thank you
6:13 Game Apologist showed that it was like a mecha-godzilla version of a sonic robot
Fun Fact: Johnny was in an early version of what I'm pretty sure is Sonic SatAm (aka only in concept art to my knowledge)
The title card jingles really are creepy
Just close your eyes and imagine being in a foggy lake hearing mystic ruins 2nd title card jingle
14:07
Creepypasta should take some notes on this!
i threw the burgerman into the ocean and it creepily slid back up the beach to me.
I’m pretty fucking sure Knuckles’ E3 voice actor is non other than Ryan Drummond himself... and that makes this hilarious.
No Ryan Drummond didn’t get to play Knuckles until Sonic Shuffle the E3 voice is still Micheal mcgarhan (I probably spelled his name wrong)
Awesome work on the video there! SA2 might be next on the list for an iceberg I'm guessing, or something else? Would you possibly be interested in doing an Iceberg video for another Sega property in the near future? Like perhaps Phantasy Star or Streets of Rage?
Thanks! I am considering starting SA2 after my next video. I'm not too sure what will come after that, but I am a big Streets of Rage fan so that's a possibility.
Hey Johnny, glad someone was able to make this iceberg. I was actually going to do it myself but, I been going through a lot of personal stuff lately. Regardless, I'm really happy that you were able to do, this is an amazing iceberg video you've done here!
The story of the New Years DLC’s recovery is so wild to me. For twenty years, those game assets were considered lost until, by total happenstance, somebody found the files on what’s essentially an old memory card they bought on the internet. Wonderfully bonkers.
The Sonic X as the actual Director's Cut video has been removed from YT...I was really looking forward to watching it. But overall great video! I thought I knew most of the obscure trivia about Sonic Adventure but I guess I hadn't even scratched the surface.
pretty sure the Chaos Emeralds used to be Super Emeralds at the past and Sonic 3 and Knuckles just give the chance to play through a "what if" by letting Sonic turn these back to their original form to become hyper.
The “Sorry Charlie” monitor is also present during the other stories as I’ve seen it on Sonic and Tails’ stories as well. It’s also slang for “get over it!”
33:26 My headcanon is that this is actually a kid version of Sonic-Man from '06
If there is ever a Sonic Adventure 2 iceberg, the Snapcube Gag Dub has to be included on there.
I’d have loved to see a Saturn Sonic Adventure!
“Sorry Charlie” is a Starkist Tuna reference
Any video that has Shadow on the thumbnail I'll immediately like, subscribe and hit that notification bell.
Thanks fellow Shadow fan!
Of course

Shadow isnt edgy he is just angry and sad.
@@_Tzer I wouldn't even say that he is angry. He was in adventure 2 but I have never thought of him as an angry character.
About NPCs lines. Trial demo used text that closer to japanese. Final release used edited version of npcs text.
The egg carrier field jingle was reused for the transformation scene after one of the Sky Chases.
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, But The "Oh No" was the wrong one. It's supposed to be the one before the "It's Starting To Happen!"

There is a Possibility that, That Robot Is Silver Sonic, which is the Pre-Final Boss in Sonic 2 when you get to Death Egg, but we'

A lot of people refer to him as Silver Sonic Mark 2, or something similar. It turns out he's actually based off of Mecha Godzilla! The Game Apologist has a video on it.
@@JohnnyVector oh,thanks!
Those Unused jingles are cool as heck tbh I want one for my ringtone.
In the dreamcast version if you have 3 joystick conected at the same time with a VMU inserted in the 3th controller and you enter en in hub world, when you press start button in that 3th controller, you will get a Chao puzzle game in the display of that VMU.
Very cool, thanks for sharing!
Really, REALLY great video! So many interesting details. ONE thing though, when you were talking about the Chaos amoeba, you referred to it's prominent membrane, when I think you meant nucleus. IM SORRY I CANT HELP IT
Thank you! Haha, good spot, my biology teacher would be shaking his head at that one.
9:15 the reason the man 3 appears is because the Egg Walker fight was built of, of an older map which had the man 3 and could actually be seen in the auto demo although the texture was messed up
Damn, now I'm curious about that mysterious e-mail...
It was likely just referencing some small element they forgot to include in the games, or some newsletter that they’d send out during that time period
@@avserenity7240 that can be a posibility
10:55 That's actually not the Knuckles' "oh no" which is used in the final game and is now a meme. The "oh no" you're talking about is slightly quicker, and Knuckles says it a little later on in the cutscene you showed.

My reactions to the adventure field jingles
Ss 24:16 : that's a very nice sounding jingle you've got there
Mr 1 24:21 : that reminds me of crash bandicoot music
Mr 2 24:30 : *THIS DOES NOT REMIND ME OF CRASH BANDICOOT AT ALL*
Ec 24:39 : actually that sounds like something related to eggman
The first two sound a bit like the console menus for the PS2/Gamecube! And I think I can hear the sound effects used for the Egg Carrier shifting modes in its jingle, lol.
24:24 The first Mystic Ruins jingle really and I mean REALLY reminds me of “Unreal”. That game had similar music style.
