Of Course, Sonic would have PTSD. After suffering from losing both his guardian and his home on the same day...not to mention being alone for so long that just the thought of him being alone forever is just heartbreaking.
And with the upcoming sequel happening, we ALL know that a certain Echidna will trigger them again. Sonic is going to have it rough....especially when he is no match for him.
I like how this is way more in-depth than most icebergs for the Sonic series in general
I'm sorta surprised you didn't mentioned that the actor that plays Tom had basically the same role in Illumination's Hop which is also cartoony animal live action hybrid movie, since many people were bringing it up as a meme.
Still, this is a magnificent video!
Also, actor that plays Tom played Cyclops in Xman movies and Sonic is speedster like Quicksilver gives another layer of irony.
He also played Prince Edward in the Disney movie Enchanted, where he sorta had a CGI animal sidekick

I have adhd and hyperfixate a LOT on this movie, to the point of watching it way too many times, and honestly well done! This video is very well made, i wasn't aware of a lot of stuff on here, but LORD stage 6 was a doozy. Loved the video

This was incredible! I'm surprised by some of the deep cuts here, you even got the unused "space criminal Sonic" tidbit that I was planning to suggest! I thought I was the only one who talked about it.

Also the way you ROASTED the U.S Goverment in this movie, totally warranted. And people have the audacity to say this film is conservative propaganda (Jim Carrey's performance also supposedly taking from egomaniac billionares)

Ah good old days... I remember I got up and saw all those weird comments from BOP fans about how bad the Sonic movie was. Haha that was really ridiculous but funny.

P.S. I’m glad you covered the “publicity stunt” conspiracy. A lot of people get really condescending when bringing this up, implying that they didn’t really listen to criticism. As if a live-action adaptation made by Paramount would never make such ugly redesigns of iconic characters. **cough, cough Transformers, Ninja Turtles**
I just saw this video, and can confirm as a 12 year old kid back in 2014 who heard about the movie being a thing, I had followed the whole trip and its events.
I don’t know how noticeable this is but with the blue ray copy you get a mini comic with scenes from the movie. I didn’t know when I bought so it was a pleasant surprise lmao

One thing I'm shocked you didn't put in the bottom layer was the idea that Tom in the movie was the same Tom from Sonic.EXE.
I watched it once again. For the fourth time. Now I can say it's one of my favourite videos.
Also I'm surprised there is no mention of the "SEGA" choir made by Ben Schwartz initially, but then they decided to remove it.
All I wanted was the history for this movie, and thanks for that. Some things I already knew, like leaks of the Chris Pratt version and the Chizzy Stephens track, but I never heard of the Juice Wrld demo or the cut language lines. Thanks.
Is it sad that I considered this as one of my favorite films of all time?
Before people start saying I have shit taste in movies, and should start watching ''real'' movies like The Godfather Part ll or Citizen Kane.....I do have taste in movies, I just personally find this movie very personal to me at an emotional standpoint... I'd waited for a live action Sonic Movie since 2002 when I was 6 years old, the movie came out when i was 24 years old... and really this was all worth the wait for me as an hardcore Sonic fan.

This is an incredible iceberg. I know for a fact that there's just sooooo much info on earlier versions of this movie out there just waiting to be talked about, especially when Sony had the rights.

Since the Owls (possibly along with Longclaw) and the Echidna Tribe(Which Knuckles’ Dad was apart of) fought over the Master Emerald.

Wow, that's quite the rabbit hole. Yet another informative and well put together video there!
Just want to add a little tidbit on the movie related to something in my home country:
The movie has a Norwegian dub, but for some odd reason it was never shown in neither the theatrical release (which was shown in English subbed) or even on DVD/Blu-ray (though it has a Swedish dub included as stated in front of the movie's Scandinavian/Norwegian cover, WHICH IS THE SAME THING AMIRITE?!).
But the dub's available digitally on places like iTunes and other places where movies can be bought. Not sure if this has ever happened with any dubbed movie before, but this is certainly the first time I have seen anything like this. *i thought that was interesting*

Here's a tidbit that wasn't on the iceberg: the Olive Garden bits weren't actually a result of product placement, it was the result of a running joke the filmmakers had on set while filming, and it just grew into a joke in the movie itself.

The orange cap is to signify the tranquilizer is not an actual firearm. It is very weird, because the only mandate of orange caps like that are on toy guns.

This movie deserves a lot of love due to the fact that it's meant to be a love letter to the classic fans, while also embracing all the positive aspects of the modern era.
The only thing it missed was a soundtrack that was more, well... Sonic-y? Heck, I went through digital hell and back just to get a copy of this movie and outright replaced the score with some fitting game based OST just to see how it fits (which btw is publicly available but shh :P)

Fun fact: this was technically the highest grossing superhero movie of 2020, because its only competition was Birds Of Prey (which probably would've been better received had they not shoved in Harley Quinn, who had nothing to do with the original team in the comics...at all.

It was discussed in one of Rebel Taxi's Pizza Party Podcast episodes (I don't remember which one) that the guest on the episode made a pitch for a Sonic Movie, and SEGA of America actually liked the idea. It was apparently all going well until SEGA of Japan heard about it development and disliked it and cancelled it. At least that's what I remember of it.
