    Thank you so much for that man, I just took off the manifold and put it back in without any issues. I paid to have a starter coil on my 3rd cylinder about a month ago and now I just saved myself a bunch of money by replacing another one myself. Keep up the good work and all the info.

    Amazing how the Ford Taurus morphed into the Ford Explorer. I own a 2015 Explorer and parked it next to a Taurus Wagon and they looked like brothers from different mothers. LOL.

      Just did it today. Changed plugs and the gaskets for the intake manifold. Takes some time but is super easy. All you need is a basic socket set with with the spark plug socket, extension and some anti seize and dielectric grease. You will save a lot of money doing this yourself.

    Do these engines burn oil ? Do you know if the automatic transmissions after 2010 are made my Allison ?

    • @HelpingHandAutoRepair
      @HelpingHandAutoRepair  4 года назад +1

      Neon diamonds Aquaberry Hi. The Ford Cyclone engine has proven to be generally reliable. Of course there is no for sure way to see the future for ANY engine but there hasn’t been a real bad track record for this engine.
      As far as the transmissions, Ford makes the 6F50/55 found in these cars. They aren’t the best transmissions if I’m honest. Especially the earlier years 2007-2008 Taurus models. I’m quite sure you meant to write Aisin instead of Allison. Aisin did make the CRAPPY CVT transmissions found in the Ford five hundred and earlier 2007-2009 Ford Taurus.
      If anything stay far away from the 2009 and older Taurus. 2010 uses a different transmission which is better than the older unit.

      Helping Hand Auto Repair I’m concerned with oil piston rings sticking and burning oil like many Japanese cars, I’m looking at a 2012 Taurus and if by now this hasn’t been a problem it most likely isn’t
      Edit: you’re right it’s Aisin!

    • @HelpingHandAutoRepair
      @HelpingHandAutoRepair  4 года назад

      Neon diamonds Aquaberry well as I said even back whenever time you’re referring to, ANY engine has the potential to burn oil. Engines with 200k plus miles on them have a higher potential to burn oil but again, doesn’t matter who makes the engines. 2010+ Taurus is fine. I personally don’t like many Fords but I have worked on quite a few over the years and these particular Taurus models have very few major issues from what I have read and experienced personally.

    What is the firing order on this engine? More precise how do you count the cylinders 1 to 6? Is number 4 the one in the middle towards the front of the engine? Thanks

    • @HelpingHandAutoRepair
      @HelpingHandAutoRepair  5 лет назад +1

      Cristi N Yes cylinder #4 is in the middle on the front of the engine.
      Cylinder numbers (as standing looking AT the engine)
      Front: 2-4-6
      Back: 1-3-5

    Great video! Do you know if these are direct injected or port injected? I have an '08 Mercury Sable with this engine and recently I've been experiencing lower than normal fuel mileage. Do the intake valves get covered in carbon enough to warrant a cleaning? I might just pull the intake off and look my self, but figured I'd ask about the intake valves. Thank you.

    • @HelpingHandAutoRepair
      @HelpingHandAutoRepair  4 года назад +1

      This engine is port injected. I believe the EcoBoost V6 is direct injected.
      You should try replacing your air filter and spark plugs first. You can also run a fuel additive to try and clean off the valves some. I recommend Berryman B-12 Chemtool fuel cleaner.

    • @nicholascoleman8679
      @nicholascoleman8679 4 года назад +1

      Helping Hand Auto Repair Thank you for the quick reply! She’s nearing the 100K mark, so I’ll be doing the spark plugs relatively soon. I changed the filter on it’s last oil change about 4000 miles ago and will change again today after the oil change to see if it helps improve mpg. Thank you for the recommendation on the additive, I will definitely try it out!

    • @HelpingHandAutoRepair
      @HelpingHandAutoRepair  4 года назад +1

      Well if you just changed the air filter 4K miles ago, it should definitely be good to use still. I would change the plugs and the fuel additive. There are other factors that can cause poor fuel mileage as well.
      1. Slow responding upstream O2 sensors.
      2. Dirty Mass airflow sensor
      3. Incorrect tire pressures
      4. Unnecessary weight inside the car.

      No tricks, simple undue all the bolts and all things connected to the manifold as shown in the video. It may be stuck due to the rubber gaskets being stuck. Possibly try giving it a slight more muscle to see if it will budge AFTER you are sure everything is disconnected.
