Excellent work. I very much respect and admire the path of the craftsman you chose. There is something spiritual about doing something with that dedication and intensity. I subscribed. Peace, bro'.
Great job with knife sheath, pouches, d-rings, all the different ways to carrier, just another beautiful job! I'm glad that your finger healed as good as it did for you. Very nice talk over your healing process, and it is great to share your feelings!

+grierwolfe now that the books are closed on dark timber customs, how would I go about obtaining these? not really feeling the bark River knives at dlt trading....
Hello, I'm a newer subscriber and enjoy yer channel. I'd like to share I've had a similar accident. Years ago, while crafting a custom longbow, I came close to completely cutting off my left forefinger at the second joint of my dominant hand. I say dominant but do things with both hands, but since I write left handed I consider myself left handed. Anyway, I have been around saws and tools most of my life. Been crafting things since I was around 8 yrs old when my dad knew/realized I could be trusted with a jigsaw. The injury went through all the tendons and most of the bone. I am blessed to even still have the finger. Through the years I have been able to do most of the things I once could, but I do not have the range of motion in the finger and joint I once did. it can be visibly seen in comparison to my right finger. I'd like to add that one does goes through dark times, especially those of us who craft and make things. I dabble in leather and like yourself also blacksmithing/knife making. I no longer build long bows, though I may start again one day. It isn't out of fear, but rather out of proper equipment for protecting the lungs against the fiberglass and exotic wood dusts which can be so harmful. My real skills are in that of house construction which my dad had taught me. I still do that on occasion but I have been in the Healthcare industry now for the last 21 years as a Nurse. My dad was pretty smart and saw that the building industry was going to slow way down at least around here, and it did. Having dependable employees were becoming harder to find as well. It was through me finally listening to my dad that I went ahead and got the education in Nursing like he had encouraged me to do. I excell in wounds because it's something I can work on and see it get better. In other words, I help to rebuild or repair a part of someone and I can get some gratification in actually working with my hands, and while it's flesh instead of wood, steel, or leather, it gives me a bit of gratification because not only am I helping repair someone's body and or life, I am still able to work with my hands and get back some of the lost in the things that I yearn for. Once something like crafting something out of nothing is in yer blood, it remains there. I'm not sure why I went into detail of my experience with you, but just felt I needed to. I hope in some way it helps you along your path of recovery as you continue to follow your heart in what you also yearn for, to make something and find that it's beautiful, useful, and purposeful. Thank you for sharing your videos and being an inspiration. You're a good person and always remember, things happen for a reason. Sometimes it's simply a lesson to be learned, a chance for inner or spiritual growth, or something else, but if we let it (the circumstance), it can and will produce a growth we'd not be able to have otherwise.
that's a painfully clever idea with the detachable pockets. really nice work! I very much like the pip with you talking about the mindset while showing the build process.
Man... what timing for me on this video. I'm only at the 4:00 minute mark but have to share. My wife Bridget fell and severely shattered her wrist requiring plates and screws about two months ago. Since then she hasn't had the best of luck. She was diagnosed with a chronic pain syndrome caused by the nerve stint or something else, we don't know. Constant pain even with narcotics. Then yesterday a huge blister formed on her hand that had the surgery. We have no idea why. We are going back in to see the surgeon today. This Severely Sucks! I've been watching her suffer so much I wish it was me and not her. Glad to see you back.
+Alex Banks Man, I don't like hearing this at all. I'm very sorry she is going through this. Do what you can to comfort her and give her my best. When she goes dark just allow her space unless she needs you.
That is a beautiful sheath. I'm super excited to see the ideas you came up with in that crazy melon while you were healing up. If this is any indication of some of it. People are gonna be floored. More than usual. God bless the Wolfe den.
Awesome work bro and an extremely profound message attached with it! Glad you didn't lose yourself in the darkness, it took me years to crawl out of my own.
First of all, it's sooooo good to see you back at it Justin!! What a beautiful combo with that knife in that sheath, the owner should really be happy with it. Inspiring and heart felt video, good talk....'real friends' are very few and far between in life. And sometimes it takes something like what happened to you to find out about the other kind, even after years or decades of thinking they were 'real'. Sorry that had to be a part of this time for you, I can relate... Thanks for the video, it was a good one.
About the craftsmen you are right on point. I am a woodworker and if I don't get into my shop I feel lost. I have Primary Progressive MS and am forced by the disease to stay out of the shop. Because of the disease I am forced to stay out of the bush. I am in a wheelchair and feel alive when i get into the shop or the woods. You have done a great job on that sheath. I am glad that you are recovering well. Always look at the positive... always. Cheers... Wheels out.
+Wheels gone Wild See, that's it right there. No matter what someone always has it worse. Man, I truly wish you nothing but the best and hope you get more time both in your shop and the bush.
+Mikethecat308 No sir, I don't dip dye. My dye job has been 6 years in the making. haha.... Lots of things to learn before you really start getting an even finish. It's mostly about reading the leather and making sure you have the right amount of moisture in the leather.
Hugh glass tough s.o.b Justin remember a few yrs back and that's what I got from you and others who were there in the dark I couldn't see em but but they were there atb bro glad to see the hand doing good ....Tom
glad to see ya doing better and your right about the darkness cause that's all I've seen for the last 3 1/2 months if it wasn't for you tube and guys like you Larry Travis and few other I would have been stuck on this couch seeing black.I was able to have hope of getting back out in the woods.I may not be able to walk for more than 10-15 monitors before the pain over welms me but there's always some one worse off than me and I wish them the best and God bless .I hope things get better for you and those that say neg things about you and your leather works their just jealous they can't produce the art you can. Peace
i would love to meet up with you guys sometime, but as it is i am traveling from ohio to arizona and pulling my horse trailer with all my stuff in it and i think kansas is out of the way :( god bless you and your wonderful family i love your videos
Hey Justin this is Miguel, i'm a big fan of your work and your channel on RUclips let me tell you these sheet you made is the best should you have made me wrong you made a lot Nice sheets for these one I give you five stars.👍👍👍👍👍
Insightful, we all need to dabble in our own darkness and find, as you said what we like or dislike. Too bad it can take life changing events before we own up. Thanx 4 sharing keep on, nobody cares until they get hurt and realize they can't suck it up and walk it off, or what ever it is they can no longer do. I am disabled and wow you sure find out who cares about you very quickly.
What a way to make s comeback!!That is one badass sheath It makes a statement!Or it should to anyone and everyone who hopped you wouldn't comeback As a viewer customer and huge fan of your work I'm glad your back 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Everything you make looks amazing. You definately have a gift, an eye for the creativity of the modern sheath. If you don't mind me asking, what type of stain do you use?
Nice work as usual. Glad to see you're healing up and getting back at it. Make note of which customers are giving you static and drop them as clients. Friends are tougher, they come and they go but true friends will always be there for you. Wish I lived closer I'd have offered to help out, not that my leatherwork is of the same caliber as yours.
I'm jealous lol. a beautiful tool, and an awesome system that was made to sheath it. I'm absolutely impressed. something I'll never have lol. I honestly can't afford that kind of craftsmanship, and have no means to do it myself. but I can admire these things none the less. it's items of this nature that make the world a beautiful place. reminds us that we will always be better than a machine. reminds us what we can do with bare hands. keep that thing safe always brother.
Dude the best things in life are simple, and you are have it. It take some people many years to achieve it and some never reach it in there life and pass away not knowing what it meant... blessings to you and your family. ..
and on the injured pinky thing, I totally get it. pulled a tendon in my elbow recently, and on one side being no stranger to pain or serious injuries, had more than my share, it was, well, let's get this taken care of and back to business as usual. on the other side, I felt very vulnerable, at the time I had for lack of better terms lost the use of that arm. so simple tasks became a challenge, wife had to help me on every day tasks, and it did freak me out in a way. I'm a big camper, hiker and in nature more than not, and the injure had no appearent cause, so honestly I kinda wondered if it was permanent. that freaked me out the most. I knew if it was, my freedom was toast.I'd become nothing more than a tiger locked in a zoo. and it really got to me. seems silly now looking back, and to many it will be. but I realised at that moment how much my freedom to roam the woods meant to me, and had no desire to see that disapere. so I get the dark days.
Dang man, I didn't know you hurt yourself so bad! Just figured you didn't have time for shooting/editing videos. Glad you're getting back to work. I'm a Sous Chef in a hotel, and work with my hands everyday, mostly with a large knife. I also dabble in knife making and leather work. I often fear what life would be like if I had some accident and lost a hand or an important finger. I don't know what else I could do for a living that wouldn't require the use of your hands. Glad you're ok.
+Soulman1282 It no fun for sure. I lived out one of my worst fears though, and I'm still here. I was very lucky it wasn't a thumb, index, or middle finger.
Welcome to the CUT Club Bro! If it becomes work or demanding, it seems the Joy goes right out of the Art! Protect those body parts, Man! I hope that you find a whole New Joy, in your Talent! The sheath is Worthy, to receive that Amazing Knife, forged by Peter. Awesome Creations, by both of you Beautiful Human Beings! Peace Brother! Hawk.
what in the heck just happened. originally i was like. 21 min video on a sheath. then all of a sudden i was like wait just wait a minute. i want more. its already over? dang. nice shirt by the way. so glad to see you in such great spirits. love this amazing side of you. its what draws people in. so lucky to have you as a friend. just wish you would let me help you. just a little. oh and absolutely fine job by the both of you. ju st an amazing collaboration the balance is insane
oh shit, that sheath is so badass it has its own name.. No leather worker wishes you gone, I've never heard a negative about your work or you as a man from anyone. You and Larry are the shit, all day every day.. period. Chris tanner, not sure how he channeled you, but you should channel him
Leo tried the flint lock at point blank range; didn't work. Whipped out the butcher knife & down went that sow. End of discussion. #BigKnivesRule Good to see you back at it.
I love big knives... I use big knives... I LOVE big knives. I to do leather work... well used to. I did sword & knife scabbards for renaissance re-enactors, plus some other things. I had made a sheath for myself for a big Bowie I had. I had it on the table to show my skills, limited tho they were. It had fringe, which was popular at the time. & I cut the fringe myself. Anyway, I let someone buy it...without the knife. I still have the knife...but I lost something in that. It wasn't supposed to be sold. I think I lost a little piece of my soul. Sold for a few bucks. Ya think if I make a new sheath, I could get it back
I like the review, but you said you won't share your knowledge, that means there are fewer people who are going to be able in the future to continue a vanishing craft.
I'm so glad to hear you got your hands back. As to the bungee cords, just yesterday I saw ITS Tactical talk about one of his favorite consumables one of which was a rubber band that does not rot. Maybe worth looking into. ruclips.net/video/YJIAy4VfrJQ/видео.html start at 7:35 if you only want to see the rubber band part. Again, glad to hear about your recovery, thanks for the update and the insight.
Theres a video on RUclips i think of a man who only hunts bears with a knife. He fills a barrel with bait and camouflages himself behind a tree. When they stick there heads in to eat, he pops up and stabs them in the neck.
Inspiring! Gotta live life on your terms damn the trolls! It's all in how we think about ourselves and our mission here, while we are on this Earth. I think you got it. Maybe you can join me in my own campaign to try and get people focused on moving forward. It's a little thing really, but when it's time to leave someone, or hang up the phone, no longer say "Take care" say "Take risks!" or something along those lines. Believe me, that one little thing will force people to stop and say "huh?" "Why did you say that?" What a great segue into talking about life, potential, dreams of our youth, and how way too many of us have left that all behind for the ordinary GRIND of daily living. It's great to see someone living their dreams and never giving up, no matter what! Take risks, brother!
Excellent work. I very much respect and admire the path of the craftsman you chose. There is something spiritual about doing something with that dedication and intensity. I subscribed. Peace, bro'.
Beautiful work Justin and I'm glad your hand is healing nicely

ONE LITTLE STRAW
When times are the worst and your feelings are raw.
You reach out and grasp that one little straw.
The one important thing that makes you go on with your life.
To keep you from ending it and getting away from the strife.
When your worlds upside down and your heart turned to stone.
And you sit in the dark feeling so all alone.
You hold onto the thing that makes it all seem worth while.
The only thing that keeps you from leaving in a big grand style.
You treasure your straw, the most important thing in the world.
It helps you to cope when your life’s knotted and curled.
People can laugh at my straw, poke fun, and sneer.
But my little straw is the only reason that I’m still here.
I’ve kept it close, very precious to me.
And kept it hidden for no one to see.
But I’m telling it now and you should be told.
I have a straw that I love, and treasure, and hold.
People don’t think about straws or that they have merits.
But in my little world, mine has 24 carats.
So if your world is in turmoil and your heart filled with pain.
And your life seems worthless with nothing to gain.
Find your own little straw to keep and treasure.
One little thing where you can find pleasure.
These are but words, but one thing is clear.
Find something in your life that you can hold dear.

Beautiful work. That blade by Pete Kohler is phenomenal. I would definitely rather carry that instead of a Mora.
Very nice!
Great work. I love how even your dye is. Do you dip dye to make it so even? I can't seem to replicate that kind of finish wit wool daubs.

Friends are tougher, they come and they go but true friends will always be there for you. Wish I lived closer I'd have offered to help out, not that my leatherwork is of the same caliber as yours.
+jailer23044 I really appreciate it man. Thank you.
Justin, do you have a Schrade SCHF53M to make a leather sheath with a two inch dangler? Cheers, Mate.
+Jack Walsh No I sure don't Jack.
Really enjoyed this video!
+Kette Outdoors THank you sir.
Now That's A Knife. Glad to see you back Justin. Any ETA on my gun belt by chance ?..
+NathanRyan 5533 Not sure on an ETA yet but the momentum is going so your wait is coming closer and closer to an end. So sorry for the wait man.
Dude the best things in life are simple, and you are have it. It take some people many years to achieve it and some never reach it in there life and pass away not knowing what it meant... blessings to you and your family. ..
+Elvin A Millan Thank you so much and blessings to you and yours as well.
and on the injured pinky thing, I totally get it. pulled a tendon in my elbow recently, and on one side being no stranger to pain or serious injuries, had more than my share, it was, well, let's get this taken care of and back to business as usual. on the other side, I felt very vulnerable, at the time I had for lack of better terms lost the use of that arm. so simple tasks became a challenge, wife had to help me on every day tasks, and it did freak me out in a way.
👍's up and enjoyed. Glade your hand is better. And some very nice leather work . Our God is good.

Larry are the shit, all day every day.. period. Chris tanner, not sure how he channeled you, but you should channel him
+jcoopdo Thank you sir. I'm not really sure what you mean by "channeling" though.
wow Justin very cool sheath. sent you an important e-mail about a sheath.
Leo tried the flint lock at point blank range; didn't work.
Whipped out the butcher knife & down went that sow.
End of discussion. #BigKnivesRule Good to see you back at it.
Damn right!
Ya think if I make a new sheath, I could get it back
Oh for sure man. Go into it with no expectations and take your time while doing it. I can almost assure you it will provide that spark again.
WTF...................Crocodile Dundee, Holy Shit
+Corporals Corner DUDE! That comes to mind every time I look at this knife. It is a major beast!
Kindred spirit.... just ask
+Peter Kohler I certainly know I could. Thank you Pete.
You done need a knife that big. Need nope, want good Gods yes. glad to see your hands better
+Shannon Waldhauer lol..... True words.
BTW, sorry to tell you that your blade has a crack in it running just along the cutting edge.
I like the review, but you said you won't share your knowledge, that means there are fewer people who are going to be able in the future to continue a vanishing craft.
I never said "I wound't share my knowledge." I have several tutorials and continue to put out videos all the time that give tips and advise. :)
+Kev Gunner (skillage18) Wow! If you have a link drop it my way man.
"Take risks". I like it. Steven, I can almost assure you that saying will start leaving my mouth. That sir just made sense and I love it. Thank you.
***** Roger that brother!
sexy great work looks really cool bro cheers
Thank you.
the virtue signaling is strong with this one... Can tell he is left!
