Awesome work.. very glad you started doing these videos. Someone like me that could not afford to buy a quality item like you make can buy some cheep scraps from a craft store and make their money go further.. Your Mrs did a superb job displaying your work.
im getting ready to dabble in some self made sheaths myself! I have enough knives that I want different sheaths for it just seams worth the trouble to do it myself and learn some along the way also! great vid!
Justin, your leatherwork and videos are truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing - actually got me into leatherwork ;) Thanks again and all the best, Bernhard
I been using coconut oil for my blades, but never combined it with bee's wax, great idea. On an unrelated note, seeing your sheath before staining gave me a cool idea, i have never seen drastic 2 tone sheath, i think it would look cool with the contrast... maybe one of my knives needs a new sheath. Also i noticed you were listening to the JRE, i am a podcast nut, i listen to 7 hours of podcasts every day at work, great way to keep you from getting bored!
Glad I took the time to view this vid. I have a better understanding with leather and kydex and see that it can work together and look so nice. I subscribed really dig what your doing. Really great job you do. Tks
You do fantastic work my friend. I will have to put in an order with you in the near future. Beautiful... Dave Black Talon Defense "Always Carry... Never Tell!"
Fun and instructive to watch. I had no idea how leather was worked. Really makes me want a new sheath for a couple knives, it's a real shame to have a nice knife in a cheap, sloppy sheath. I'm going to need to get one ordered. The workmanship looks great.
Not at all. You got out a portion of the material so that the thread has a place to live. This way the blade never comes in contact with the thread. Appreciate you watching. Thank you.
This may be a little long but here it goes...#1-Your work Rocks!! #2-I started with leather wrk to make cuff bracelets & found ur videos to get ur leather conditioner "recipe". Of course I watch all the leather sheath vids because of ur talented wrk, fascinated w possibly making a sheath for my husband and son. #3-Husband loves knives & low & behold the last 2 wks we had both been watching your videos(separately)!! #4- Do u like ur stitching roller vs a 4 in 1 leather punch? thank you
Keep working at it and someday it will be. Maybe even better. I use a lot of different threads. The one used in this particular video was flat artificial sinew.
We used to mess with people at air shows, we had box’s that hydraulic fluid cans in it. And people would ask what in there and we would tell them they are chem trail box’s
i use graph paper, then I transfer that to a cardboard type material as my cardboard is roughly the same mm as 7-9 Oz leather.. so it works so so so good
I can test fit the knife with the cardboard and I find it more accurate for me, especially when you start getting into modules and the layers involved. . your work is awesome, love your videos, it's all in the feel and trial and error.
Oh I completely agree. Cardboard is definitely the way to go. I just go through so many designs that I just don't have the room for all the cardboard templates.
Yeah the funny thing is those regulations are prohibiting honest folks like us. Guaranteed if we were criminals, we wouldn't think twice. So sad that we can't do business together because of silly things like this.
Great work on the sheath. I'm curious did you stitch in the kydex or glue it into the sheath? So it doesn't come free when drawing the knife. Been wondering how to make a leather sheath for my woodsmans pal. And I got some great ideas watching your videos. So thanks for making them too. :)
Excellent video. Three questions: 1) Do you groove the inside of the Kydex insert to sink the stitching to protect from friction wear? 2) Do you drill holes in the Kydex before stitching? 3) Where do you get such high-quality leather?
I would have preferred the video just be you talking to the viewer and not the extra stuff, but that aspect of the video aside, I appreciate you sharing the project and insight. The sheath itself looked good even before you finished completely applying the dye. The hole with the tiny slit has been around a long time, but you used to create a whole new idea. (The quick release system) There are so many ways to create a thing that I sometimes find myself hung up on a particular way to build something. It's frustrating, until I find an old method, a simpler method or a new way to get it done. And then in retrospect I am annoyed I let myself get frustrated in the first place :)
I'm afraid I stopped watching at 2:29 in the video. Now, kudos on making the video, you got one I don't so, good job. I stopped watching because too many people seem to think that drawing a knife that makes all that noise is ok. How that ever became a thing is beyond me? Honestly, I'm just lost on that. Let me just run something by you, if you are slipping to pull out a knife then it's a safe bet you're doing it to stay all stealthy and not be seen or heard. Then you pull your knife and tip off whomever it was you were trying to sneak up on and that damned old knife announces you're here to everyone. Kydex makes a great sheath liner, but as far as a retainer goes, it's too noisy. Stick with a loop, or a silent closure. I mean people talk about rattle and play and all that but totally ignore that big old SNAP when you draw the knife. Oh, the girl was a nice touch.
I thought I was the only one that had that same idea. Nice work.
Beautiful work.
Excellent Video ! Thanks for sharing !
No problem thanks for watching.

Not a problem at all. Very happy I could help.

Very helpful and educational. I love how you explain it to prevent common mistakes.
Beautiful leatherwork. Crazy awesome quick release!
Thank you. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out myself.

Beautiful sheath and model great video Justin helped out a lot filled a lot blanks in my knowledge what knife is that ???
Thank you I greatly appreciate it. The knife is a pathfinder scout.
THE CHEM TRAILS! LOL I can't believe I got you to talk about chem trails on video. hahaha!
Chem trails are the devil.
Great vid
Ever had trouble with the blade cutting the stitching on the pouches or loops when resheathing?
Not at all. You got out a portion of the material so that the thread has a place to live. This way the blade never comes in contact with the thread. Appreciate you watching. Thank you.
very nicely done
how does that fit, and move, when the wearer is jumping around, climbing and jogging ; I wonder ?
Its my Bday soon :P
Mad work dude inspired!
Nice watch.
Thank you.

very beautiful sheath. I hope my work will be half as good as yours. what thread do you use?
Keep working at it and someday it will be. Maybe even better. I use a lot of different threads. The one used in this particular video was flat artificial sinew.
How much would you charge for a esee 6 knife
We used to mess with people at air shows, we had box’s that hydraulic fluid cans in it. And people would ask what in there and we would tell them they are chem trail box’s
Justin, how did you attached the kydex insert to the leather?
I used contact adhesive to secure it as well as sewing it in place.
I want to know how you got the kydex insert to stay in place when drawing out the knife.
Do you make dangler systems for my Condor Bushlore?
Your Good, Real good. Thanks, respect
Do you actually have a working website? Nice work, would like to order a scout carry sheath for my Tops BOB with micarta scales.
Great information
Thank you.
Is that a custom knife? It's beautiful!!!!
Kyle Chamberlain pathfinder scout platoon from Battle Horse Knives

+Robert Lindsey Jr chemtrails are not funny...chems swimming in your salat...

Got my attention. :)

I have changed my mind about California
Thank-you!
Gosh I wish you could make pistol sheaths Justin, I know you could but I live states away :(
Yeah the funny thing is those regulations are prohibiting honest folks like us. Guaranteed if we were criminals, we wouldn't think twice. So sad that we can't do business together because of silly things like this.
that joe rogan podcast was badass. one of my favorites. graham hancock was good as well
that navy seals stories were awesome
That was a really good episode. Have you listened to the other three with Graham Hancock?
Excellent video thanks. Is that Joe Rogan? Phew! lol
Thank you. It is the Joe Rogan podcast playing in the background.
Great work on the sheath. I'm curious did you stitch in the kydex or glue it into the sheath? So it doesn't come free when drawing the knife. Been wondering how to make a leather sheath for my woodsmans pal. And I got some great ideas watching your videos. So thanks for making them too. :)

Your Bush Blling is the BOMB !! LOve It man ...how much is that, roughly ?

Thank you.
@grierwolfe Thank you for this. Was exactly what I was asking you for.
I wish I could have shown more. But I ran out of time. Glad you liked it though.

I want to know how you got the kydex insert to stay in place when drawing out the knife.
