Sohyang is the only one here with balanced mix in the upper belts and is the only one who's consistently SUPPORTING all the way up with resonance. That's what a great belting technique is. Others are too heady, or doesn't sing these notes in the first place.
Only casual young fans of Whitney call her a mezzo, in her prime she was a Spinto who didn't choose to over do a heady mix, her belting was always slightly chesty or balanced mix which kept her top at f#5 roughly. Later in life she developed into a dramatic soprano with a damaged instrument due to her lifestyle which kept her singing within Mezzo parameters.
She never was a spinto though. Nothing spinto about her output. Big and very matured voice yes. Lyrics can be big and dark if they choose to sing with the right technique.
Yeah she was a spinto. I tell you had she chosen to do and lean more towards heady mix like the others ,she would've belted even higher considering the fact that she was already hitting F5s with a dominant chest mix.I don't think the others would belt as high as her had they applied a dominant chest approach like her.
@@le2x601 I believe this to be true now. Before I used to think she was Spinto (when most still thought she was mezzo or turned mezzo after giving birth). But after listening to wide range of sopranos from lyric to dramatic and mezzo and conversations with many operatic singers and music forums I realized she's actually very light and small for the spinto label.
Y'all clearly do not know what y'all are talking about. How is she a high soprano but her belting range stops at a G#5. Most high sopranos can belt all the way into the 6th octave. Mind you, Whitney was never comfortable singing that high. Most of her live performance climax notes were in her middle register. 😩

I mean, Judy singing "Battle Hymn of the Republic" is like a master class in belting and I'm not some huge Judy fan, but that shit is impressive. @@robertsterner2145 I just watched that performance and I think it’s great, especially given the context. He should definitely react to that too. @@MariosPOS never in your life. Her belts are shouty and shrill. Lets be real now. And mariah is the queen of using open vowels
@@mcfanrobinhood "Shrill and shouty" are the results of a pulled larynx, glottal tension, throat muscle tension and/or pushing. SoHyang has none of those issues. Her belts are round and full.
Mariah may have a darker tone, but she's not fuller or more open.
Lara Fabian and SoHyang use much more open vowels than Mariah
@@MariosPOS Sohyang has a under developed M1 so her belting is not strong at all. Especially compared to Mariah. Sohyang is a mixer. Sohyang also has pitch issues and bad formant tuning.
All fun, but where are the new Kellyoke and her EP……. PLEASE!! ❤️❤️❤️🎶🔥🔥
Mariah's voice is the most pleasant to my ears and Whitney is 2nd. Strong ≠ Loud
Queen Patti ❤️
Pls more vid like that is that just me or sohyang seem to be the same from the top to her c5 idk lol i just think i am a big fan
But patti shack my soul i am not gonna lie
You asked what that Whitney high note was from. You HAVE to react to it. I think you have been asked many time and here it is again ruclips.net/video/sTijHZqXw_I/видео.html
"He I Belive" 1986 London. Absolutely phenomenal even for early Whitney.
I was wondering where Celine Dion was during this…
Celine’s technique is only consistent up to around Eb5/Eb5. Above that she tends to strain
@@rydercdaniels4475 utter bs. She doesn't consistently strain above eb5. She is one of the most trained and free voices in pop. Also since when not being "consistent at a ceratin fifth octave note" make someone a lesser belter? Past D few even belt, majority sing with mixed voice.
@@rydercdaniels4475 Mariah has never been consistant above D5 or Eb5 either. The only time she could truly reached those notes with ease was during 1992 and 1995-1996.
@@rydercdaniels4475 Celine deliberately puts extra force into certain notes to achieve very specific effects. She very often demonstrates her ability to sing in the upper fifth octave with ease and no strain. You people don’t seem to understand the music industry. Singers are given very specific instructions about how they should sound by the producer. That part in the song called for a gritty sound, and so Celine delivered.
@@rydercdaniels4475 neither mariah and nor whitney shown consistency at upper belting like them celine also had a lot of golden moments like supporting eb5s e5s f5s f#5s
28:29 💀😂 just cause you can hit that note doesn’t mean you should lol sometimes less is more
Have you thought of reacting to kpop idol vocals?
Why sohyang is here? She’s mostly mix.
So? Most people belting above a D5 are pretty much using mixed voice to do it. Full chest above an E5 just sounds shouty no matter who’s doing it.
@@razrv3lc then it should be about mixing...not belting. Rather it should be with actual singers known for their thunderous belts. Very few on this list
Celine too
믹보도 진성이다
@@rarevisionog Belting is a style of singing, not a register, you can belt in chest, chesty mix, balanced mix, heady mix. Sohyang is the only one here with balanced mix in the upper belts and is the only one who's consistently SUPPORTING all the way up with resonance. That's what a great belting technique is. Others are too heady, or doesn't sing these notes in the first place.
Yes more female singers videos please
Only casual young fans of Whitney call her a mezzo, in her prime she was a Spinto who didn't choose to over do a heady mix, her belting was always slightly chesty or balanced mix which kept her top at f#5 roughly. Later in life she developed into a dramatic soprano with a damaged instrument due to her lifestyle which kept her singing within Mezzo parameters.
Lyric soprano.
@@rarevisionog you might be right. She could be a lyric that darkened her voice.Definitely not a mezzo though.
Kelly Clarkson could’ve easily been on this list ❤️
Very few people can compare to Whitney Houston

Ghost lighting younce is not qeeun
The Owner Of the Video is clearly a celine hater....how could you made a video of belting and didnot add celine on it??
Don't worry his got his minions to spread misinformation as well
LOL. Whomever else he didn't include he must hate as well. 😆
A lot of better belters than Celine weren’t included either, shoo
Whitney is classed as either a medium/low Soprano or a high Mezzo in some places.
Its hard for me to tell sometimes.
She was a full lyric soprano that had a strongly developed chest voice. She just darkened her voice more often.
She was very high soprano... Her voice changed drastically also
And her technique, she mostly used Chest coordination for her highs which makes it very much dark like a Mezzo
@@truekriol7738 no they can't they flip into M2 coordination -which is mixed registration. You are illiterate...Not many high sopranos belt past C5 in chest she did up to Eb5 in full chest
STILL CELINE DION 💕💕💕💕💕💎💎💎💎💎✨✨👑👑👑👑
Mariah is the best. She is the Queen and a Legend.
Is this a re-upload?
Vanessa is like Christina but with great technique. A vocal savage with insane agility and huge range.

all legends!
Man I was hoping Judy Garland would be included on this even if she belts lower. I feel like she is always forgotten in these belting videos 🥲
But I still had a sliver of hope lol
Still hoping you do a proper reaction to her voice 😫 I would suggest her And Barbra Streisand singing a medley of their songs “Happy days are here again” and “get happy” on Judy Garland’s show. It would be a good introduction to Judy with Barbra, who you already know, being there
I mean, Judy singing "Battle Hymn of the Republic" is like a master class in belting and I'm not some huge Judy fan, but that shit is impressive. (This video almost treats "belt" and "high notes" as synonyms when I think a great belt in the middle of someone's range is generally much more attractive and enjoyable.)
@@robertsterner2145 I just watched that performance and I think it’s great, especially given the context. He should definitely react to that too. I’m not a huge Judy fan either but I think she deserves more recognition.
Also, I would agree with the mid belt comment. I think I generally like mid belts more than high ones. I don’t know if I’ve heard Judy belt in the 5th octave so I’m thinking that’s why she is usually discounted.
Where is Celine? 😱
RERE!!!!!!!
They forgot Celine,,🙂🙂 but we also know Celine can sing powerful than…😊
