    I was the musical director for the 80s TV series, “Solid Gold“ (my name is Michael Miller), and I just want to say that, week after week, year after year, whether in the recording studio or the TV studio, everything Dionne sang for Solid Gold (and for me privately), whether it was a solo or a duet, she made into a spectacular & singular work of art. Dionne is an artist like no other, whose inspired nuances, colorations, interpretations and soul-stirring tone would leave me breathless after everything we ever did. She is also the truest and best friend one could ever have, and I am so happy that you are using your channel to show off her many heaven-sent wonders. 🎶💙🎶

I love Ms. Dionne talent and I believe every single word you mentioned about her voice. There is no one like Ms. Dionne not now not ever!! d oliver Well, I imagine there are plenty of others with my same name, but I am the one and only Michael Miller who was the musical director and the theme composer of Solid Gold! And, I really appreciate all of your positivity! You are totally correctAbout Dionne’s voice - there is no voice in the universe even close to its perfection and uniqueness! It was a dream come true to work alongside of Dionne for all those years back then and to have launched the lifelong friendship we currently enjoy. Thanks again for all of your kindness! 🎶🤟🏼🎶

If you don't mind, Can we please stay in touch? Please do not mistake that me as a stalker, I am far from it, lol. You are such a great musical director. d oliver I love your enthusiasm! Now, regarding the slow version of my Solid Gold theme: I arranged it on my piano at home and then took it to Dionne‘s house, played it for her and she loved it. Besides performing it on Solid Gold and the NBC Tonight Show, she also included it in her touring act for several years. I’m so glad you enjoyed it so much!

    what makes this performance of this particular song, so impressive, is how she makes her approach, look so easy. When you watch her sing, she INTENTIONALLY gives you the impression that you can sing like her too. But thats the hook!..she tricks you into thinking that way..because TRUST ME, singing like Dionne Warwick, in her prime, at the top of her game like she was here, IS HARD TO DO. It takes MANY YRS, of singing in front of audiences, to sing this way. With her, every single thing she does on that stage, is flawless, error-free...she engages the audience...and charms your socks off.
    her approach, is simple...she doesnt attempt to sing anything that she is not vocally able to pull off. And you see it, here in this song...simple phrasing...she totally takes her time...SHE ENUNCIATES EVERY SINGLE WORD..but not in a way thats annoying. And when its time for her to show off a little bit, with the breath control and the fade-aways, with the microphone, she can do that in a way that looks more elegant and cool, than what you will see with her legendary peers like Patti Labelle and Nancy Wilson. When you see or hear Dionne Warwick in footage like this, you're observing a 'master class' of singing, from one of the greatest vocalists who ever lived. Dont believe me, check her catalogue and album sales.

    She is just so damned completely different than anybody else. She is understated, yet powerful. She is soft, but yet loud. But most of all, her singing is completely and utterly effortless. She does not fall down on her knees, go into convulsions, or gyrate her body when hitting or holding notes. She remains classy and poised throughout a performance, despite how loud she gets or how long she holds a note. There really is nobody like her.

Also, yes Whitney picked up a lot from Dionne, especially stage mannerisms. If you're looking for more Dionne, she hosted a show called Solid Gold in the early 80s. She performed a lot of duets with legends like Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, and even a young Whitney. All of those performances are fire, Dionne knows where to find her place in any piece of music.

      D Oliver I got so much from your comments. Dionne is an artist that knows how to interpret a song with her voice! It’s like she is a musical storyteller on the stage. Very few artists can do that. When she uses her mic like it’s a trombone and does that look away with the high notes...she knows the power in her voice. She’s captivating, mesmerizing, etc. I hope others know she song this song towards the end of singing song after song for 20+ minutes. She looked stunning when she walked on the stage and looked that way when she walked off the stage. She’s in Effortless Class all by herself! JUST A POWERHOUSE!!

    Picture a world...in the late 60's and all through 70s...and into the 80's when Dionne dominated the radio airwaves...whenever you rode in the car...went to the supermarket...Dionne was there with you. And now she is making an instagram come back. She is a true Diva o the day!

    That family is just so gifted vocally. Just listen to the family members and tell me I'm wrong. Find video/audio of these these family members - Leotynne Price, The Drinkard Singers, Dee Dee Warwick, Cissy Houston, Gary Houston, Felicia Moss just to name a few.

    Dionne has a Doctorate degree in music education...she is a musician for real...she is not up there playing around and singing loud and high all the time. I had no idea about Dionne outside of about 4 of her songs and seeing her on Solid Gold in the 80s before I could appreciate real singing and even know what it is, of course her psychic stint, and I saw her on the apprentice. I grew up with Whitney but Dionne Warwick set the blueprint for Whitney.

      Absolutely and Whitney is very very good but Ms. Dionne is above for sure!! She has a full mastery that only she can do and Whitney was smart to understand it that is exactly why she did her best to emulate her Ms. big cuz Dionne!!

    • @thabigcohuna

      @@singingmanmd even Dionne will tell you Whitney was another level, she was the absolute best of her cousin and mother combined

    • @singingmanmd
      @singingmanmd 2 года назад

      @@thabigcohuna OK. Never heard that before. Not surprise if she did bc Ms. Dionne has always been rightfully generous with her comments about other good singers including Whitney and less regarding her own artistry and accomplishments. However, my opinion/comment regarding Ms. Dionne's mastery still stands🙂.

      U knew what he meant. U should've kept that comment to yourself! U r that type of person who likes to correct individuals just on technicalities! That's a sign of "wanting to be smart". But u really r not! Because a smart person wouldn't critique every little detail or point out someone's mistakes & imperfections! "Correction".!!😅😅
