Vet here - it can be worthwhile to keep her diaper area shaved down to a zero blade. This can make it easy to wipe the area and keep it clean. Many dogs can live long and happy lives with incontinence, it’s not a reason to put a dog down and my hats off to the owners for making this decision.
Without for one instant minimizing Shortie's very real disability and medical issues, I suspect she is also very used to getting her way with her humans by terrifying them with that Help!-I'm-Being-Murdered shrieking. Even for a husky, that was an impressive vocal performance.

Can confirm. My eldest is deaf, and she screams a lot. For reasons that I would argue don't warrant screaming (breakfast is coming, breakfast isn't quite fast enough, there's a squirrel outside, the other dog is running around, I've put her leash and harness on, you name it) and her shrill shrieking does not sound like an Aussie. We've had to get used to the sounds and get good at picking out what scream means "you stepped on my paw" and what means "yay, food!"

A good option for incontinent dogs is a foaming shampoo that is meant to be used on a dry coat. You rub it in, let sit for a few minutes and towel off. I used it on my dog when he was incontinent for a month after surgery and it really helped keep him clean and free of urine scalding. You want to make sure the area gets fully dry afterwards before using a diaper as well. We use a dry foaming shampoo for our older guy. He's 16.5 years old and doesn't have the best bladder control (bowel too for that matter), so he'll often just have an accident while lying in his bed. So in between actual baths, we'll use a foaming one to keep him relatively clean and not smelling bad.

We adopted a pug puppy at 9 months from a family rehoming her because they felt they didn’t have time for her. Shortly after we brought her home I knew something was wrong with her back/rear legs. We had her x-rayed while she was being spayed. My fear was she’d been injured at some point. It turned out she had a congenital defect in the last bone of her spine that compressed on the nerves to her legs and sphincter. She was diagnosed with rear-leg ataxia and despite the incontinence and wobbly gait, she lived and was loved for 11 years. I miss that little girl daily.

He was a good boy to be groomed, even though the brush was not the greatest...BIRDS LOVED it each day when he was groomed outside. It was comical to watch puff balls with streamers going up wards from the ground , and the little wrens, sparrows of different breeds, cardinal NOT Be SEEN, as they flew off to their nesting site. Thanks telling us about the diaper, and certain pressure spots. Hopefully owners will feel better to groom
Props to her owners for taking great care of her! I, myself, am disabled, and I understand the importance, and hard work/dedication, it takes to be a caregiver. Shorty is very lucky. Much love, and respect, to her and her family. ❤
It's commendable that the owners love her so much that they are dealing with her disability. She looks healthy and sounds healthy, and that says she has loving owners ❤
Sweet Shorty is adorable. I'm so sorry she has nerve damage. 😢Breaks my heart seeing a sweet pup with serious chronic health issues. I hope she can become accustomed to grooming.
Poor girl. Omg, I could NEVER do this job when dealing with difficult clients..... But lord, I really love and appreciate how Vanessa really does everything she can to accommodate the needs of each and every animal she grooms. ❤
My Husky was exactly like this, lived until 17 years old. Same fur color and pattern, except she had more of the wolf/raccoon mask under her eyes. Same blue right eye, brown left eye. In her later years she became deaf, developed dementia, some blindness, and at the end incontinence and hind leg weakness. In the morning we would find blocks of her poo on the floor (at least it was dry), but I work in healthcare so it doesn't phase me and it was during COVID so we had gloves and wipes anyways. She was sweet and really perfect for us, in her earlier years she was very active and she was actually a very quiet husky. I wished she would talk to us more, but she only did so when she was 1) hungry or 2) needed to go out to pee. So watching other Huskies talk is kind of a catharsis for me. Thank you for treating this girl with respect!
Loved the title! :-) On a more serious note it´s absolutely understandable and great that you put the dog´s wellfare above the video quality. And I am sure her owners will be very glad to have her back without further problems and smelling wonderful for once. Vanessa , (for some reason FB autocorrect substituted ‘Vanilla’ for Vanessa)I love the way you say shampoo; I’m from Florida. If she was fit enough the bad air snaky thing would be killed.... I have used a foam dry wash in the past... Foam on, rub in, towel dry, dog was cleaner, skin soothed, nice smell. Wow no tap dancing for paws n nails... Fantastic. You made such a big difference to her coat and cared for her so well. Thank you for sharing Shorty, so cute.

I had an elderly lab with GOLPP (Geriatric-Onset Laryngeal Paralysis Polyneuropathy) that caused similar nerve damage and incontinence to what this husky is experiencing. They lose sensation in their feet, and it makes it hard to keep their balance sometimes when combined with their weakness in those areas. That’s probably why she could stand and walk sometimes but other times could not. Our dog had a lifting harness to help with when his legs just didn’t want to work that day. He was the happiest boy who didn’t let it upset or slow him down at all. He figured out a shuffle crawl pretty quick, and lived his golden years surrounded with hundreds of toys in his own private room with round the clock attention and care since there were enough of us in the house. He was the best. We’ll have lost him 3 years ago come December, and I miss him every day. To anyone reading this who is apprehensive about adopting a disabled dog, as long as you have the means to care for them, they make just as amazing of companions and able bodied dogs do.

I have nerve damage also, I know the poor girls pain. I'm in no way lessening her struggle Dogs have always been my favorite life to be around. It hurts me terribly to hear her struggle. I'm happy she is loved because so many wouldn't take the time to deal with hero find good people like this lady right here. @@AccidentallyOnPurpose
So sad that she was injured but how sad that it happened when she was having such fun with a friend. 😥
I'm not even a dog owner, not really a dog person but I love your channel. Me and my granddaughter binge your videos and we've learned so much and she was astounded to learn you groom these animals free of charge. The care you put into grooming these animals is a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing and educating.
Same I don’t have a dog but I’m always watching her videos
No worries about the camera, Vanessa...keeping the dog safe and comfortable is more important than what we get to see! 🙂
This one was not singing the song of her people, she was screaming for her people to come save her.
Kudos to her family that loves her more then they dislike her physical problems
I feel so badly for this precious girl, but I couldn't help busting out laughing when she really let it ring to the heavens 😂😂😂😂. The drama beats any TV show😂😂. Thank you Shorty for the entertainment.
Bless you Vanessa and thank you to the owners for caring for this baby ❤
I adore huskies. Thanks for dealing with Shorty's dramatics to give her a needed groom ❤
I'm a 63 year old with nerve damage too and I can relate so much to Shorty. I have the occasional bouts of incontinence too from 2 Tarlov Cysts in my sacrum.
Aw bless, Shorty is beautiful🥰 and kudos to her owners for accepting her injury and the sad effects its had on her 😢
Poor little girl. She must have some very patient and loving owners, and you did such a good job with a crazy situation!
Screaming and afraid, poor baby, bless her heart. My heart goes out to her.
Not necessarily afraid- huskies are notorious drama queens and will scream about everything.

"they said to not be part of the problem. so i became the whole problem" ~ this husky pupper probably. i feel like if you dont want any sort of dog problems, or doglems, then you shouldnt get a husky lol theyre a wild bunch. adorable & sweet doglems at least.
I'm so impressed with the owners for taking care of this fur baby. She's a sweet lady, showing she's had a loving home. You're angels for taking care of her and all the stuff that involves. Anyone who's watched someone care for a parent with dementia knows what you're going through. 🏆🥇👏👏👏 for you! We can see you're really good people, even if we never see you!
🫂🫂🫂
I helped take care of my friends, Husky, while she was battling cancer and after she passed, and one thing I know they do NOT STOP SHEDDING through out the year. Hopefully owners will feel better to groom
as a guy with back pain i completely understand this husky may she be in peace and no pain for the rest of her life
Oh the poor sweetie…elderly pets can have a rough road. ☹️❤️. Thank you for taking her on as a client.
Props to her owners for taking great care of her! I, myself, am disabled, and I understand the importance, and hard work/dedication, it takes to be a caregiver. Shorty is very lucky. Much love, and respect, to her and her family. ❤
Your commitment to helping dogs in "difficult" situations is heartwarming
It's commendable that the owners love her so much that they are dealing with her disability. She looks healthy and sounds healthy, and that says she has loving owners ❤
Sweet Shorty is adorable. I'm so sorry she has nerve damage. 😢Breaks my heart seeing a sweet pup with serious chronic health issues. I hope she can become accustomed to grooming.
She will definitely feel better afterwards getting that shedding coat off her.
Translation of husky speak:OH MY GOD SHE'S KILLING ME!!!! SOMEBODY SAVE ME!!! I'M MELTING....
Poor girl. Omg, I could NEVER do this job when dealing with difficult clients..... But lord, I really love and appreciate how Vanessa really does everything she can to accommodate the needs of each and every animal she grooms. ❤
My wire fox terrier started yelling back at her as we listened to your video.! Had to turn off the sound🙄😂
She's beautiful and you are so patient with her. It's so kind of you to give her family the diaper. You done a brilliant job as usual 😊
You put a lot of care into your work with these dogs. I think they have to sense it and that it probably relaxes them at least to a degree.
I am so glad Vanessa is able to give these special pups a chance at a groom.
❤
THANK YOU FOR THINKING OF THE DOG'S WELL BEING FIRST 🙂It shows the pasion you have for dogs and also for the grooming process.
Loved the title! :-) On a more serious note it´s absolutely understandable and great that you put the dog´s wellfare above the video quality. And I am sure her owners will be very glad to have her back without further problems and smelling wonderful for once. It´s wonderful her owners are taking care of her and helping her with her condition! And I am sure they will be very glad everything went well.
Beautiful girl for her age and its sad she has mobility and continent issues. She’s been well loved and taken care of and her Husky dramatics showed us why people love the breed! What a delightful pooch! 😊
She looked like she was relaxed more and finding the feel of warm water and massaging feel of the water when she was laying down. Very sweet. You did a great job of caring for her needs and safety above filming.
Wow, she is quite the vocalist! I appreciate your wonderful kindness and compassion and I'm sure her owners did too. Great job handling a truly difficult and sensitive situation.✨
Vanessa is always all about the safety and comfort and concern for the client.
Vanessa , (for some reason FB autocorrect substituted ‘Vanilla’ for Vanessa)I love the way you say shampoo; I’m from Florida.
WRT the tiles in the floor, you could replace them with textured tiles or have anti-slip stuff applied for better grip page, but not so rough to harm their foot pads.
Ohhhh my fluff, she's so beautiful and so sweet ❤ God bless her family for loving her and taking care of her and God bless you for all your love and compassion for her 👑🙏💞✝️🐾🕯
She was a real challenge through no fault of her own and you did a marvelous job despite this.❤❤❤❤
I applaud the owners for taking such good care of their beautiful fur baby. ❤️❤️❤️
God bless the owners for not dropping her off at an animal shelter because she is high maintenance.🙏🏼❤️
You've done well. First obligation, in this situation, is to protect yourself and your client. God bless you ✝✝
Shorty, I definitely relate. You are in good hands. You are not just beautiful but also have a wonderful singing voice❣️
I hope this information helps...The Farm, RUclips, special dog farm in Australia has several dogs incontinent both urine and bowel they have adopted and care for. Pl
Thank you for so much for showing compassion towards Shorty. For all her problems , she seems very sweet and her owners are just wonderful .🌟♥️🐾
Forgetting to press record while you were so into your job is something that can easily be forgiven. Thanks for taking such great care of each and every pet that comes into your shop!
It's a good sign that you are focused first on the animal, and second on filming. It's a tough situation, and all we can do is our best. I hope she enjoyed feeling clean and refreshed, even if the back end won't stay that way.
Poor little lady, props to you for being so patient, caring and kind. She sounds so...pitiful....torture, dogacide and I'm telling my 5 times great grandma.
.
I'm thinking this is my 3 yr old having a temper tantrum 😂. God Bless you for your kindness to the Queen!!!
Oh the poor baby ❤️ she has such a beautiful face and deserves all the kisses.
She's still beautiful! This can happen to any of us! Wish her the best! 😍
So dramatic, bless her heart!!❤
I am impressed with you vanessa, time after time, as you manage to help each individual animal with special needs. It is so heartwarming. Thank you for always providing me with something beautiful and loving to watch.
Considering Shorty’s disabilities Vanessa you did an amazing job caring for her!!❤
What a sweet ol girl, I hope her fur and her skin are not being scalded by her incontinence. 💚💚
Shorty is sweet... And was good while getting bathed. Floof was fab, so much needs to blown out. . Loved the choruses she sang, some angry words in there.
I’m glad she has good, caring owners to manage her problems. (And who can afford to. I’m sure there are people who would love to care for their pets in their elderly years but can’t afford to. Which is terribly hard.)
Shorty’s owners must love her so much. Caring for an incontinent dog must be so difficult. Bless you for taking such good care of her.
You may have forgotten to turn the camera on, but the ✨drama✨ was still there. Shes an opera singer! Such noise! Such drama! Such beauty!! 😂❤
You are so wonderful with all these animals. If I had not been allergic to so many shampoos years ago, I would have been a groomer. I love your videos! 💕💕
I enjoyed Shorty’s groom. What a beautiful doggie she is.🥰
Thank you so much for everything you did for Shorty, Vanessa. You are a wonderful, gifted groomer. Shorty was blessed to have you groom her.
That poor girl! Lots of kudos for you, Vanessa, and her owners for helping this old lady.
Vanessa, never apologize for doing what's best for the animal in question. Those that complain about such things should be promptly ignored, as the rest of us (which I'm assuming is the majority of your watchers) completely understand & love that you're more concerned for the welfare of the animal. I'm so thankful every time I watch one of videos featuring a critter who might have a disability/ies & get to see just how compassionate you are in caring for your clients. Thank you Vanessa, for all that you do for these wonderful animals!
It's still a matter of professionalism. I, for one, respect that she can show a lot of it while staying true to her values.
She is such a beautiful sweet creature.
I am so sorry she has this wounding.
I am so glad her family loves and cares for her.
Thank-you for the wonderful work you do. ❤
To anyone reading this who is apprehensive about adopting a disabled dog, as long as you have the means to care for them, they make just as amazing of companions and able bodied dogs do.
poor baby.. it's so valuable that you listen to the animal first and foremost. Lost a pet today. This helps.
Oh my goodness, I don't think I've ever heard such drama from a dog, lol. Poor baby, thank you for being so gentle with her.
