Thanks for the videos I just bought ws400 for clear
Happy Friday to you as well man oh and happy painting lol!
A lo your vídeos are great. Well expleined and easy to understand. Thank you.
Wohoo thank you! Hope you can share it !
I’ve used devilbiss guns for the last decade (GTI, FLG, SGK) but recently invested in a ws400 supernova. At first I thought the supernova was overrated as I didn’t find it better in spraying clear. But what I didn’t realise is you do not spray it like a devilbiss. Now that I have figured out how to use the supernova due to this video, I can finally say I can get a perfect finish off the gun. It lays clear on so much better than all my devilbiss guns it’s worth the extra money!
How do you set it up?
Thanks Gabriel
Very useful trick i try this method and get very good results ,thank;s.
Thanks !
Another cool video! The way I was taught, is we filled the cup with thinner and I practiced making adjustments while pulling the trigger with air running through the gun. Playing with the fan patterns, fluid volume, pressures etc helped me understand the setup so much faster. I was much more confident when I actually painted my first panel.
Could you maybe do a demo like that sometime?
Thanks!
+Steve C yes that works! Thanks brother! I will do one Jist having the time to do it! But I will!
Thats not a good way to test your pattern at all. Thinner does NOT spray the same as base or clear. At all. If you want to be cheap just spray water.
nice video bro can you do a video . how to clean spray gun
Hi i just use 26. psi in my gun and 2 turs on material ,and fan almost open a top . I use a devilbiss flg5 . Thanks for You tips Gabriel!!!
What do you mean when you say 2 turns out on material? Is that from all the way in or with trigger pulled all the way back and then 2 turns out?
Why would you share your settings when it's a completely different gun you're using?
Dude all your videos are a huge help to new waterborne painter like myself man thank you for taking time to show us your work and teach us your way cause it helps me adjust a bit better man godbless dude and cheers from orlando florida man 😎
Where do you work?
just that eh ? Where do I work ?
Hey my friend. Ive been struggling on hoods with my WS400 and trying to get it dialed in. Ive brought fan pattern in and still had rough peely outcome. You said you spray at 38-40 psi and are you using a 1.4 tip? I have 1.3 HD and it does seem to do better imo at higher psi. There is a guy close to me with same gun and he uses a psi of 23 -28 psi and gets incredible glass. I tried that psi and no way, was too low. So, i hate to put this gun away and not use it, but damn im struggling here.
Thanks I have same gun u answer my ?I will be spraying whit this gun tomorrow 👌
1st time i used the gun it was a water hose runs every where. Did you reduce wth activator ? by how much. Also my settings were ,Bottom wide open/fan 3.5 out from closed for the trigger wide open and .29 psi
Do you recommend this same setup for the “Tekna Clearcoat gun”? And even higher 30-40 psi?
No more than 30 psi for the teknas
your great a credit to the industry!
+spencer moon thank you!
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS bro do you use the same trigger set up when you spraying sealer or basecoat?
Nice setup, but i used fan 2 turn from close and other setup the same you use , its another spray gun, its faster i like it . Thank for sharing.
Which psi would give a better finish on clear in your opinion, 35psi or 29psi
+Prayyy (Quit) 35 or higher
Hi Gabriel I have a video request please if u could do a video on air compressors, filtration and air dryers etc I think it will be helpful..
+waseem ahmed I will try my best 😀😀😀
He sprays at a shop hes a painter not an air compressor technician. Be realistic.
Hey gabriel yo tengo la lph400 cuantas vueltas de fan y caudal recomiendas para esta pistola
+REYNALDO SALAS seria lo mismo para mi son iguales son muy buenas
What do you think is the biggest difference between being a production painter to not?
+Kd1979 AB you always are on the run as a production painter and you don't polish as much. Among a lot more other things
Hey mate,
Nice nice nice work mate, awsome finishes.
At fan adjusment knob you say from completely closed but from what I can see its from completely open or I'm mistaken ?
+Dan Raul yes completely closed to the right it makes the spray pattern narrow thanks for the nice words!!! 😀😀
Maybe his gun is different to the left is closed (fan narrow)but for my gun if turn it to the left the fan is wide . Maybe he doesn’t know that
Como fue el ajuste de material aplica también para color o solo transparente???
Solo para trasparente
Gabriel, How would you set up the Tekna Clearcoat gun? I recently purchased one and tried painting a hood with it, but I keep getting fisheyes on the side that I start on. I use to use my startingline gun for base and clear and never had that problem. I'm using the same clear and technique. I'm sure the Tekna gun is probably putting more material out.
The set up wouldn't create fisheyes brother that is from contamination. Clean the clear gun with pure thinners really well before spraying not only in the gunwash
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS Thanks
do u regulate your pressure at the wall or the gun? thanks for sharing vid
+watever 80psi at wall then 38-40 ay gun for clear 😀
Regulate at the wall unless the regulator at the gun is the good diaphram type but most are cheap cheater valves and you do not want to cheat down your air pressure.
Hey Gab, what's up?? which mini spray gun do you prefer ?????
+Sergey Hovhannisyan I have only use the sata minijet I like it a lot 😀
Nice nice nice 👌🏻
Gabe, try turning your tank pressure between 120-150. I bet you'll be able to run the gun at a lower PSI. You'll have more air coming to the gun and won't have to compensate at the regulator. It's worth testing.
+Kent Buehrer I shall give that a try! Thank you!
MOTIVATED PAINTERS Did you try it? It would be nice to know. 😁
+Kent Buehrer not yet!
Are those the same settings to a ls400 supernova
Is seems to have a smaller fan from what I noticed
I just bought Anest Iwata LS400 supernova. Could I use that for clear. It has the 1.4 air cap.
Yes you can
MOTIVATED PAINTERS what do you recommend for the settings to get a gloss finish. Thanks
@@salalawi34 bro get a paint brush and dont look back
So pretty much wide open, with the fan turned in about halfway and 38 PSI.
Dude am a try this set up i have the same gun am spraying ppg 2021 clear am using a 1.3 tip am spraying at 24 to 26psi but the ws400 at first going from a sata rp 1.3 it took me some time to get the gun to spray even and i myself spray really fast the clear it got a huge fan it took me some time to get it to spray even but i got it man its such a great gun specially for me am 5"6 so its fits nice in my hand and the atomization these iwata has is so unique almost like a airbrush gun lol am sorry if i misspell some words but just want you to know your videos are great man in orlando we are all switching to water almost everyshop and i love envirobase cause is really user friendly i still not quite were i want to be on blending silvers at least but cause of your vids i haved improved man so thank you again dude you have viewers here at greenway ford east orlando were 4 painters and we all watch your vid on our lunch break lol godbless keep up the good work brotha
+Eddie Lugo glad your dialing it in man!!! Man that's so amazing that you guys are watching I'm so glad!! That makes me so happy knowing that my videos are making a difference !!! Thank you so much for your support I'm honored ! I will continue to make useful videos and hopefully keep adding value to you guys!!!!!!!! God bless keep up the good work!!!! Kick butt!!
MOTIVATED PAINTERS yeah man right on brotha 💪💪
Gabriel,
I just picked up a WS400 EVO 1.4 tip clear gun. how do I get it up, lol. Just kidding bro. I have been rocking the Sata jet 2000 for last 10 years. Have found value in having a base coat, and clear coat guns. I'm going to rock the Tekna 1.3, or the Sata Jet 2000 for base now. Thanks again
it's very important to use a bladder type regulator on your gun, not a cheater valve type. There is a very informative video on this subject by a Sata rep on this subject. I advise everybody to search it and learn something new.
matt wist true never use a cheater valve it only restricts air not regulate it.
Thanks for the info. Have you ever tried spraying clear with HF purple gun...? I use it flawlessly with base paint. When I go to clear coat; not so flawless...lol.. Orange peel... What fluid, fan, psi settings would you recommend for this gun.? Or any other tips to help. Also, what gun would you recommend for an upgrade yo minimize orange peel...I may upgrade when its in the budget. Thanks and we appreciate all the videos.
Sometimes a simple psi raise will do the trick and watch your distance Les orange peel is achieved with good distance and speed of travel in most cases
Thanks for the Info. Keep putting out the great vids.
I would run the crap out of it if I had my fluid all the way out like that 😭😂. Mine is 2.5/3 turns in and I’ve been playing with the fan.
Set up will obviously be different depending on gun. More importantly I would like to know what type of air filteration system do you used or recommend?
I use data 3 stage in the booth
Thanks!
Do you have any recommendations for setting up an Iwata LPH400 with 1.3 tip spraying medium to high solids clear to minimizing orange peel?
Yes I would set it up the same as the ws 400 just RUclips search "how I set up my clear gun"
3.5 turns out on the fluid full fan turn in 2.5 turns from full fan
26-28 psi
With a cheaper hvlp, should psi be lower at gun? Other videos suggesting 20 psi
I have orange peel issues .
Also, what psi you recommend for base?
If you are getting orange peel and you are not changing the gun then try putting the air pressure up to 25
MOTIVATED PAINTERS thank you
👍👍👍👍
38-40 psi? And you closed the fan 3 turns from fully open.
28-30 🙃
The set up for the 1.4 is the same as the 1.3 ?
Yuppers
WOW 38 to 40 psi? WOW! most of the clear goes out of the up the exaust stack! Obviously you are not paying for the clear. That gun works very well at 29 psi with high solid clear coat without wasting clear coat. in hot weather 26 psi
I just want to say shooting the same product with the same gun I'm at the same psi and my rep thought I was crazy but 29psi was way too low for this clear with the ws400 imo. Glad I'm not alone
+Lacey Clagg haha yes!!!!!
How come when you say youre closing down the fan you're turning it anti clockwise? But when you shut down the paint you turn it clockwise, If i turn my fan anti clock wise on my gun it opens the fan wide
All the guns are different
Nobody is perfect bro
😍😍😍😍😍
What supernova is this LS400 ?
Ws400
Subscribing to the other channel too, just to check it out and support.
In terms of the clear gun.. on a DevilBiss GTi you always go full fan, and then adjust the air pressure so that you get even paint distribution from top to bottom of fan. And the distance to panel, is as you say the point at which it breaks up.
I know the WS400 should not be run full fan. And it's worth explaining how the air pressure should be just right, so the clear is thrown evenly from top to the bottom of the fan. Too high.. too much paint at the edges. Too low, and too much paint in the middle. Air pressure required depends on environment, as you said, and viscosity (i.e. weight of paint particles and how they flow) affects how far and fast each particle is thrown. So a thinner MS clear needs a lower pressure.
I know you know all this already (!!!) but worth explaining for others. And showing the setup with clear in the cup and air line connected.
Great channel. Peace.
+Saqib Khaliq great! Thank you!!! Yes I'm glad you mentioned it!
