I was at that U2 show in New Haven Connecticut in 1980 and witnessed part of that Punch up: Toad's place in New Haven was one of my regular haunts in those days, and I always had my camera with me, so after the gig was over (which was amazing by the way,) even though there were only about 40 people in attendance, they came back to do an Encore, which as I recall was 11 o'clock TikTok. While Larry was kicking his base drum, he suddenly stopped-the reason for that being that his kick drum beater had gone right through the bass drum head and he could no longer use it. Bono ran over t to Larry, putting both his hands-on each side of the drummer's head, and said something to him and then they all rushed off stage and went downstairs into the dressing room. I immediately followed with my camera, hoping to get some snaps, but I was prevented from going inside by one of the venue's bouncers! But I'll tell you, from outside, it really sounded pretty brutal!!!😮
CCR had legendary fights back in the day. Brother John and Tom Fogerty often got into blowups over whose side was in control, and Tom couldn't stand the fact that he had to relinquish all the control over to John back then. John was the frontman and lead guitarist, whereas Tom only played rhythm guitar, and their ugly fights lead to Tom quitting the band in 1971 even after John promised to give him an equal share of the profit. Sadly, these two never made up, as Tom died from onset diabetes in 1990, and John still gets into fights and legal troubles with his other bandmates, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford.
Surely The Who destroying their instruments by bashing them up side each other's heads would have been judged by the audience as just another part of their normal show.
Is there no video footage of any of these incidents? That's like the videos titled "So and so said THIS about..." and the video is just the narrator reading a quote from an interview, instead of showing the actual interview.
I saw Mick Avory leave the stage and Ray told the audience " Our drummer just got a phone call". I didnt know that Ray went backstage to convince Mick to come back.1982
In the crazy world of rock music and live performances, too much fame and money mixed with huge egos, then add drugs and alcohol...what do you expect will happen?
Does anyone at Grunge pay attention to content? Why would you be showing Cheap Trick during the segment about Poison? THE TRAGIC LIFE OF GRUNGE JUST KEEPS GETTING SADDER AND SADDER!
Also, the story of Perry/Janes Addiction is pure bollocks team Perrys BS to cover his ass. He was heavily intoxicated. He'd been repeatedly messing up lyrics and songs because HE was a mess. They all also have top class ear monitors with highly controlled and personally mixed sounds. He could not have it better in hearing the music and his own voice, which sounded worse than a goat about to be slaughted by the way.
@andrewharper1609 I find nothing about their music miserable. Radiohead is uplifting especially songs like "how to disappear completely' 'weird fishes' 'let down' ....etc. Creep isn't even in my top ten.
@Jonny-o3I Have you ever seen the video for "Champagne Supernova"? If you consider that shit, I have nothing more to say to you. In my opinion, it is a masterpiece. 133M views
Agreed. I’m baffled by Oasis’ success. They did one slightly good album and the became a Beatles cover band. That they made a career out of it is extraordinary. They’re not the first (or last examples of completely talentless “musicians” making a successful career though, sadly. The Spice Girls would be the most obvious example from that era: zero talent, not even particularly attractive, shit at dancing. (My theory about the spice girls is that they were an inside joke as to whether it would be possible to get the least talented and vaguely spectrum attractive girls to be a massive popular “band”). It really turns out that you can sell any old crap to idiots and they’ll buy it
I saw them at the El Mocambo in Toronto that year. There were about ten people there. It was days after John Lennon was shot and people were still bummed out. Plus a light snowfall. The Edge could play well. Bono's hair was really silly. When they played I Will Follow, which was a major hit at Toronto's only alternative commercial radio station, I really wondered where everyone was. We were only four or five tables but we applauded loudly and got an encore. I think Bono sang Give Peace A Chance as a tribute. A nice touch, I thought. There was no violence whatsoever.
@TarionsCousin. Counter-point. Roger Waters doing vocals on the song "One of my Turns" from The Wall album refers to his guitar as his"favorite axe". 😄🎸✌️
uhh horrible job on getting the accurate story on the Jane's Addiction fight. You reported just Perry's dubious side; do some research and you will that it was an unjustified outburst and attack by Perry really out of no where. His isolated vocals were released. The band's techs did a long form interview on the whole thing on youtube. Check it out and then edit this video.
They were/are a shitty group, but calling them a One Hit Wonder is inaccurate. I can think of 3 of their songs that played regularly over the radio. I think all their "hits" kinda occurred within a 5 month span.
Did you witness any of these fights when they happened?
No, but I was planning to see Jane’s Addiction at The Masonic in San Francisco, before that fight ‘tween Farrell & Navarro.
Saw Marie Osmond kick the living hey outta Donny O when he sang Puppy instead of Paper Roses.
I witnessed the U2 incident; see comments

I remember when there were stories of The Bay City Rollers getting in a fight at one of their Japan shows, probably their last one.

You forgot to mention the barny that broke out between Dennis Wilson and Mike Love at a Beach Boys concert in the early 80's.
Why does the segment on Poison end with video clips of Cheap Trick?
I blame AI

It's like WatchMojo Lite.

Oasis is shit. Just one song by Radiohead is better than their entire song catalogue.
@andrewharper1609 I find nothing about their music miserable. Radiohead is uplifting especially songs like "how to disappear completely' 'weird fishes' 'let down' ....etc. Creep isn't even in my top ten.
Jonny I totally agree!
I never met anyone who was a die hard oasis fan. Or even a casual one…. Their success is a mystery to me all these years later

I remember the U2 in New Haven tussle in the 80’s. That was something to remember and even vividly today. A real Irish row!
That must have been something, did they finish the show?
@@charliem9831 Yes they did! After everything calmed down.

at 1:10 -that's a fender?? what model? outrageous!
3:11 lol what's up with the Cheap Trick footage?
Every story I heard from the Who, always makes me laugh.
Thats not true about the Kinks 1965 Cardiff show banning the Kinks from the US. Thats another story.
That's Rock and Roll
But yet they don't show the clips. Waste of time.
I have literally never heard of "the view"🤷♂️
Were they really big in Scotland or something?
I've never heard of them
Scotchland
When talking about the BJM you forgot to talk about the Viper Room incident.
Felder was a great guitarist not Frey.
"late, great" is addressing Glenn Frey as an artist..not strictly his level of guitar playing.
Word heard. @@BDUBZ49
Ok clown 🤡
Half of these bands I haven't ever heard of. Ps. Why do bass players always get picked on or beat up ?
That looked like Jani Lane not Brett Michels in the last clip
Didn't know that Jesus and Mary Chain was legendary.
Haha ! Thats some puffery there!
Only non-musicians call a guitar an "axe."
Careful with that Axe, man.
@@BillyMagic-d8j😂😂😂
@BillyMagic Lol, and if memory serves I believe the "man" goes by the name Eugene.
@TarionsCousin. Counter-point. Roger Waters doing vocals on the song "One of my Turns" from The Wall album refers to his guitar as his"favorite axe". 😄🎸✌️
I’ve seen Keith Richards’s use his guitar like an axe? Some kook rushing him on stage!!! lol

It almost seems like a major fail to compact all of the epic liam and noel altercations into one tiny chapter of this video
Ten best Gallagher Bros fights would be a good video on its own
@davidtingley9978 straight up truth my guy!
@Grunge Get on it 🤣
Good list here but watch the video from years ago when Glen Danzig got cold cocked from a rival band member , That was a good one but was back stage !
6:20
I’d hate to get on Perrys bad side
Look at those massive forearms
Oasis fighting, look at Ray and Dave Davies
You guys at Grunge struggle to get your facts straight...too many to mention.
U2 is the second most overrated band behind Kiss.
This is probably the first and last time KISS and U2 will be mentioned in the same discussion.
Crazy
2.4M Subs????
This is boring! Let's see the fights. I don't want to hear you talking about them. SNORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow 😮
What a drag it is getting old
Ive never understood why anyone cares about oasis. Shitty 1 hit wonder band.

Do you live in the UK?
@@aaronloach if you're asking me, no I do not.
Only in the US. The US is not the whole world
Brian, I agree!
INXS is better than OASIS.
True!
I have to begrudgingly agree. Only one of them can be the worst!
OASIS IS 💩
EAGLES ARE 🙏
THE WHO ARE 😜
