    God not only created me but He is constantly making me a new creation in Him. Because He loves me and not because of what I have done. For there is nothing I could possibly do to qualify to get into His Heaven. But God can do all the work through His Holy Spirit dwelling deep within me so long as I am perfectly willing to surrender unto Him wholeheartedly.

      Jamal Robertson everyone needs an external interpreter for the Bible. I like John Piper, but he doesn’t have the authority to interpret the Bible. Scripture doesn’t interpret itself. What Piper is teaching here is not Scripture itself, but his interpretation of it.

      Jamal Robertson says every Protestant. You can’t interpret scripture on your own, otherwise all the Protestant “churches” would actually be united and not contradict each other. John Piper has no apostolic authority. Only the Catholic Bishops and the Orthodox Patriarchs have that authority directly through time from Christ.

    Piper and many other Calvinists say that in order for a person to be saved,he must be drawn by the Father to Jesus (only the elect,according to Calvinism,are “drawn.”) Yet,may I KINDLY remind you that in another one of his videos Piper says “God is constantly “wooing” all people everywhere all the time. I believe Jesus was (Is) correct when our Lord and Savior said He will send the Holy Spirit to convict the world(unbelieving world;[even gotquestions,which is a moderately Calvinistic website agrees with this} of sin,righteousness and judgement. Of sin because they do not believe in Me,of righteousness because I go to the Father and of judgement because the ruler of this world has been judged. Is there a difference between “wooing” and “drawing?” If not,then at what extent does it go out to;the elect only or everyone??? I assume a Calvinist will conveniently claim that this “drawing”/“wooing” is only for the elect but Piper doesn’t seem to believe that in his own statement “GOD IS WOOING ALL PEOPLE EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME AND NEITHER DOES THE CALVINISTIC WEBSITE “GOTQUESTIONS” SEEM TO HOLD TO THAT... I believe Jesus was (Is) very clear and Piper seems to have destroyed “limited atonement” by saying “God is constantly wooing all people everywhere all the time...

    I've always found these Irresistible Grace sermons to be mind boggling and they seem self-contradicting to me. I mean I know this is a smart guy who is committed to Christ, but the arguments keep flip flopping around in my ears. I understand that God can do anything, but he restrains Himself obviously because He never lies or goes back on His word. It's never a question of can He, but will He based not only on His Holy Name, but also upon His promises. He promised us free will. Not will that has been freed from itself, but a will of our own to choose God or to rebel against Him. God wants me to choose Him, and to choose Life. That's a given right? So all that's left is to meet, follow and fight for Him. At least that's the way I see it. I'm not a pastor or theologian, but I haven't read or heard anything which refutes what I have seen and experienced in the spiritual sense.

    • @M.L.7
      @M.L.7 4 года назад +2

      Calvinists disagree with the idea of Free Will. So, in response to your question, Free Will is not a given for a lot of people. I'm guessing that JP probably takes the stance that God is the only one who truly has Free Will. He takes the stance that when Scripture says you're dead in your sins, it means you're truly dead. In so being dead, how can something that's dead choose anything good, let alone choose to be made alive? John Piper just shared the story about how he came to faith in Christ at the age of 6. Scripturally speaking, Piper would probably look at Saul's conversion in Scripture as being the perfect example of how anyone is saved. Saul was on the road to Damascus, en route to persecuting the church (shaking his fist in God's face), and God ultimately opened Saul's eyes simply because He chose to. Free will is often looked at, by many, as an idea that tries to protect God from being unfair. The Calvinist's position, however, is that God chooses who will be saved. God bless you, sir! =)

      @@M.L.7 Thank you for the explanation. It seems there are scriptural arguments for both positions, and I will continue to give these things mindful thinking from time to time.
      www.gotquestions.org/is-God-sovereign.html
      God does occasionally make exceptions to the rules. I call them miracles. However, Saul was already committed to God, or at least Saul's idea of Him, so Saul was probably open to such a revelation before hand. I question if God would have opened Saul's eyes otherwise. The important thing is to follow the great commandment. As we struggle to do so, we become better at it. "Seek God and you will find Him." Deut. 4:29
      I am reminded of these verses regarding people choosing life:
      Jeremiah 38:20, Deuteronomy 30:19, 2 Kings 18:32, Ecclesiastes 9:3

    The grace of God has to be irresistible. or no-one could be saved. And as the Bible is explicit that God cannot be resisted, it follows that His grace cannot be resisted.

    • @ipt3000
      @ipt3000 6 месяцев назад

      Can you find this in scripture because my understanding is that God gives us free will which means we absolutely can use our free will to sin which is resisting his grace. Every time we send it resisting his grace, Grace would mean that we are not bound to the rules of the world, which is sin. God made that very clear in the beginning that there is a prince in this world who is leading us to sin because we are resisting God‘s grace the people who follow the law of God to the letter, and still resist the grace of God and considered sinners this is where Christ was really arguing with the Pharisees about the law, the Jews about the law Christ was arguing with his Jewish family about this, Adam and Eve definitely were told by God what not to do and they still did it which means they resisted God’s grace because God’s grace was contingent upon their obedience. If you can’t read this, God’s grace means sin is God fault in which case why would you be punished for it? How would that be? Just. I really think that the people that believe in this are being taught by pastors with bad ideology and the presupposition of reading the text is such that you can’t read the text accurately that’s what I really believe because I learned the Bible from myself and God, without bad theology being taught to me by a human being, and I never in any Time reading the Bible ever thought that I couldn’t resist God if I didn’t want to like I can absolutely resist God and go right to hell for it even after God touches me because his touched my whole life and I’ve resisted all kinds of times in my life if I’m going to be totally honest, was never time in my life God wasn’t touching me or reaching out to me or offering me Grace because I’m still alive after I’ve sent His death so I don’t understand this believe in irresistible grace I think it’s man-made I think it’s actually demonic. I think it really holds people back from living fully surprised because people are waiting on God to give them the power to resist evil when God doesn’t do that, God gives you the power to choose him or choose evil, and it is your choice and then there is repercussions for it. God sovereignty does not cross the line of turning you into a robot for God and irresistible grace is true. I don’t see how that doesn’t make you a robot that pretty much means that God is choosing who is going to be saved and he is not going to be saved based on what in which case why should anyone ever share the gospel? Why should anyone ever care because if I’m already destined to go to hell then I’m just gonna live my life.

    While Piper explains that grace can be resisted, he then states “whenever God pleases, He over comes your resistance.” Ultimately, therefore, according to Piper, God’s grace is irresistible.
    When Stephen accused the Jews of resisting the Holy Spirit and becoming murderers like their fathers, the Jews began stoning him. There is no evidence that God ever overcame their resistance, acting against their will.
    God’s Grace is an expression of His love and is therefore not forced on anyone. Thus, God’s grace can be resisted.
    Spurgeon said, “He turned my heart and made me love Him.”
    But why would a loving God make people love Him and how could that be called grace?
    Paul said, “Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
    Jesus said to the Jews, “and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.”
    When sinners are unwilling to come and harden their hearts towards God, there is no Scriptural evidence that God sovereignly over comes their resistance.
    To claim that God, against your will, over comes your resistance, is not Biblical.

    Every time a Christian sins, they are 1) Resisting the grace of God, and 2) Resisting the WILL of God. Calvinism hates to state the obvious facts of reality: Things happen against the will of God all the time. The idea that the will of God means something is certain to happen is simply wrong. God is not in control, but God is in charge. This means God isn't controlling every atom in this universe...He could assume control at any moment (He is in charge) but He simply did not create a universe where people are controlled/forced/coerced nor did He create a universe where everything He desires comes to pass. Sin is absolute proof of that.

      “But now, since you have been set free from sin and have become enslaved to God, you have your fruit, which results in sanctification - and the outcome is eternal life! For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
      Rom 6:23-24

    +101Checks..I do not think we Need church. People may Want a church..and I understand this..more for Social reasons. Jesus definition of church was "revelation" to each person from the Holy Spirit. It was Paul who instituted church as a group with a hirearchy..because of his Pharisee background. Jesus..Himself..never Formed a church. People who believe in Paul..believe in church..but I do not believe in Paul. It is perfectly fine with me if people want church..but they better not tell me..it is required of Jesus..because it is not. People at church are not united anyway. There was disagreements and contention at every church I have ever been too. It is at church you start hearing men's gospels..instead of Jesus. I have personally found it better not to go to church. But I know church is very important to some people..so we are ok.

      I agree - bible refers to church as the body of Christ and there are some places where it says to go to elders of a church for prayer or to confess your sins to other believers, etc. but honestly man distort scripture. I also feel that the Bible makes it really clear that the revelation of scripture is between you and the holy Spirit and it’s honestly unique for every person. Christians always want to say that the scripture is in errant, but then they spend all kinds of time trying to decide which translation is correct so if it’s not possible to make an error in biblical translations, then why are they so obsessed about which translation to use so I just think it’s a lot of nonsense. It never says in the Bible that scripture is never in the Bible is it say that but then these people want to say read your Bible and follow the Bible but they are not even following the Bible. So many Christians literally put the disciples of Christ equal to God so if Christ says something and one of the disciples says something different, they are both somehow true to Christians who claim the nonsense this is why the Christian community is so lost I really believe that when we get to heaven, we’re gonna see all kinds of people in heaven and I I really think that it is very probable that a majority of them will not be confessed Christians, except maybe their confession with God that they accept God‘s grace of salvation from Jesus Crucifixion, but I really think that it’s so demonic what is happening and these pastors who speak this way, and they pull verses like they literally teach a single verse. That is not the proper way to read any book nonetheless, a scriptural book a freaking spiritual guidance manual like nobody in the right mind that it’s literally a bunch of crazy white people.
