  • Some people believe that while the fall of Adam has affected our will to some extent, we’re not wholly dead in our sins. How should Reformed Christians respond to this perspective? In this message, R.C. Sproul explains the weakness of semi-Pelagianism, highlighting that God’s grace is the only remedy to our fallen condition.

If Arminians really hold to freewill such that God the Father wants “all” saved, then there is a break down in the Trinity as the Son and Spirit are not able to bring this to pass. It’s only under the reformation doctrine of election that the Son and Spirit accomplish all the Fathers will.

"Election makes known the fact that salvation is God’s free gift, gratuitously bestowed upon whom He pleases. This must be so, for those who receive it are themselves no different from and no better than those who receive it not. Election allows some to go to hell, to show that all deserved to perish. But grace comes in like a dragnet and draws out from a ruined humanity a little flock, to be throughout eternity the monument of God’s sovereign mercy."
~ Arthur Pink, "The Doctrine of Election"
"Man is nothing; he hath a free will to go to hell, but none to go to heaven, till God worketh in him" and "you dishonour God by denying election. You plainly make salvation depend, not on God's 'free grace' but on Man's 'free will."
    -- George Whitefield
"There has no such thing as freedom since Adam fell. Adam was free. Not a single child of Adam has ever been free... Man's will has been bound ever since the fall of Adam. By nature man is not free to choose God.. Do not talk to me about free will; there is no such thing. There is no such thing as free will in fallen man. The Bible teaches that."

Babe in Christ here, but how does acceptance of or resistance to grace relate to the various passages in Exodus & elsewhere in the OT about hardening of hearts? Sometimes God hardens hearts, sometimes hearts are just hardened (is the implication by the folks themselves?) & sometimes it seems God further hardens hearts that were already hard - is it RC’s or Augustine’s view that it is solely God who hardened the hearts of the non-elect so they would reject the grace that’s all around (anyone can step into a church, per California Dreamin’), or is that not real grace?

1.The word GRACE according to the law of first mention.. means on Gods authority; it does not means God's favour.
    2. PREDESTINED only applied to the first generation of JEWISH believers in Christ who were born in the Jewish old covenant; and they were predestined after they were born for the purpose of bringing the old covenant Jewish people out of the old covenant into the new covenant.
PREDESTINED from the foundation of the WORLD... this word WORLD is the Greek word KOSMOU.
The Kosmou began on Pentecost in
    Acts 2-1-4.
    3. ORIGINAL SIN is a false doctrine invented by the corrupt church leaders so they could charge a fee for infant baptism to get rid of original sin.
    * GOSPEL being preached in all the WORLD and then the END WILL COME in Matt 24-14.
    * This word WORLD is the Greek word OIKOUMENE.. Oikoumene is ONLY used in the bible for the LOCAL LAND of JUDEA in the time period between the cross and AD7O.
    * It's not possible to reconcile all these sub-doctrines when these main doctrines.
R.C you speak eloquently; and you had an abundance of knowledge about unimportant things.. if ONLY you taught from accurately the scriptures; with the influence you had all these false doctrines about original sin.. predestined would be corrected by now.
*It is so easy for ministers of the gospel to end up in the swamp of the false church doctrines.
    *
1 Cor 4-6 Do not think beyond what is written.
The trinity; the rapture; original sin; nor the great commission are written anywhere in the bible.

Jesus' triumph on the cross made all born again (made alive spiritually). And being born again is not salvation but it is the catalyst for we are now capable of understanding the Gospel. RC was saying that someone has to be born again (qualified, John6:44,65) to be born again. Because one cannot accept Christ spiritually dead! So, God have to qualify (made alive) anyone he chooses to be able to accept Christ or not, if they do, they were born again (made alive). So, double born again, that is absurdity.

"God gives grace to some people and withholds grace from others"? WRONG, and Calvinist FALSE DOCTRINE (see Sproul's false comment at 8:44 mins into this video)...
Titus 2:11 - "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men," ...ALL MEN.
    Or...
Titus 2:11 - "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people." ...ALL PEOPLE.
    Also...
T.U.L.I.P. - THE TOTAL DEPRAVITY OF CALVINISM; an error filled false gospel...
    >> T - "Total Depravity;"
Calvinist claim that no one can act in faith until they're born again, yet people did; see Hebrews chapter 11 (not to mention the whole Old Testament filled with records of non-born again people acting in faith contrary to Calvinist false doctrine). Jesus strongly refutes the calvinist false doctrine of "total depravity" in this scripture as clear as it as it can be...
"Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" - John 1:47 KJV
    Or...
"Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!" - John 1:47 NKJV
NOTE: Nathanael was a man of NO guile, NO deceit; he was NOT "totally depraved." A person without guile is a person of innocence, honest intent, and pure motives, whose life reflects the simple practice of conforming his daily actions to principles of integrity.
Also, David was called "A man after God's own heart." "The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart” (1 Sam. 13:14). The second time was by the Apostle Paul who recounted Israel's history, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will” (Ac. 13:22).
    >> U - "Unconditional Election;"
Calvinists claim that God chose you, and your choice means nothing, God couldn't care less what you chose, (so why choose to receive Jesus Christ as your savior?)...to Calvinists, your free will does not exist. Yet God's word says; "I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live..." - Deuteronomy 30:19...and..."If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." - John 7:17
    >> L - "Limited Atonement;"
Calvinists claim that Jesus only died for certain people, yet the Bible says He died for all people; Hebrews 2:9 "Jesus taste death for everyone," and in 1 John the Bible says that Jesus was the propitiation "for the whole world" - 1 John 2:2, and God calls all people to repent; 2 Peter 3:9 - "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that ALL should come to repentance."
Additionally; Luke 2:10-12 - "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to ALL PEOPLE. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." And; Romans 11:32-33 - "For God hath concluded them ALL in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon ALL."
Jesus didn't pay for individual sins (a little blood or death for this one, a little blood and death for that one), He paid for ALL SINS OF MANKIND ALL AT THE SAME TIME WITH HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS. If a person rejects his atoning work at the cross they will spend eternity in hell. Jesus either paid for them all or He paid for none. In fact He paid for them ALL.
1Tim 4:10: "... we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe." Heb 4:2: "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."
    >> I - "Irresistible Grace;"
Calvinists claim that God's grace cannot be resisted. Yet the Bible says God has graciously given ALL people the ability to receive or reject Him. Sadly, many do reject God's grace, which is NOT "irresistible grace" as Calvinist's claim; God's word says; "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always RESIST the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you." - Acts 7:51. Additionally; "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were NOT WILLING!" - Matthew 23:37
Additionally; Calvinists claim that human beings "have no free will," especially in matters of God and of the spiritual nature. The are in error.
Calvinists claim that God has predestined everything, especially spiritual matters such as you repenting and being saved. Some Calvinists go as far as to claim that unless God predestined something, God would NOT know it was going to happen. They claim that God is sovereign only to the point of willing everything and ALL that happens.

So Augustine doesn’t understand the consequences of Augustinianism and RC Sproul doesn’t understand the doctrines and apologetic of Reformed Theology. On Reformed Theology the Calvinist Gods foreknowledge is based upon the Calvinist Gods immutable decree where everything that happens is *caused* by the Calvinist God; if anything happened that the Calvinist God didn’t decree, i.e. cause to happen, then the Calvinist God would be learning something and we all know that it is 100% impossible for the Calvinist God to learn anything, because if he did learn something he wouldn’t be the Calvinist God anymore; Reformed Theology 101.
Furthermore, why would the Augustinian Calvinist God offer Grace [1] to people who have no ability to respond to it and [2] why would the Calvinist God offer Grace to people the Calvinist God knows he is going to barbecue in Hell for his own good selfish glory and his own good sadistic pleasure?
So its is perfectly safe to conclude that everybody that is being actively barbecued in Hell is being barbecued because the Augustinian Calvinist God unjustly and mercilessly denied them regeneration and predestined them to Hell for his own good selfish glory and his own good sadistic pleasure!

You deny the free will inherent to man. Man can choose to think how he wills and act as he wills. Man can not conceive of God's omniscience in truth, as to do so presumes man can at all conceive of the nature of God. But, as His Word states, God has seen the end from the beginning, and so the doctrune of predestination holds true: He *knows* who would accept Grace and who wouldn't, and yet gives them the opportunity to live out their truth regardless of the end result, for God is just and merciful, and His justice and mercy is made evident in the fact that He doesn't come to you unless you desire God's presence. *The moment* a human being calls out to God through Christ, in a true and honest heartfelt plea to know Him truly, *He always comes!* The type of person you here describe is someone who has never made that simple, yet heartfelt gesture, and so it is that *God predestined them to never call out to the Lord.*
I'm no Calvinist, but it is true that God has preordained all things in Creation and that it is God who grants faith to believers, i.e., that being saved is not a work of man but entirely a work of God. That you (or whomever) would believe is what makes you (or whomever) one of His chosen elect; as simple a procedure as it would seem, so many decide never to believe, and that's the real tragedy.
