    By coincidence, I've had these two devices. I bought the Yoga 7i, I kept it for about one month, but it had a defect, and luckily I could get a refund and bought the HP Envy x360. The pen of my Yoga 7i didn't work properly, it was a problem on the screen. It was a great computer apart from that. The thing that bothered me the most was that the frame near the hinges is a bit loose, it bends a bit and makes a little cracking wiggling noise when pressed. Other things to consider: few ports, bigger and a bit heavier compared to the HP. So far, I have no regrets changing for the HP Envy - I love the design and how compact it is. I'm only afraid of the hinges, which have a bad reputation. A major problem: you can't easily turn on the device on tablet mode! I use it as a tablet a lot, and this was very frustrating! But problem solved, I made a video in my channel teaching how to turn it on and wake it up on tablet mode - it's a secret that few people know.

    Great review, thanks so much! I actually bought the Envy x360 13 in Nov. 2020 (Ryzen 4500u, 16G RAM, 512G SSD) - a FANTASTIC value and I love it! A few things worth noting - while the Envy has a 16:9 aspect ratio (the Yoga is 16:10 I think), even though 16:10 is the 'trendy' option these days, the Envy is light (less than three pounds) and easier to travel with (important for me as I travel for business quite a lot). Regarding the size of the keyboard - yes, it is smaller than the Yoga keyboard, no doubt about that.....................however, it's ALSO a better fit than the Yoga for those who have smaller hands - something to keep in mind for prospective buyers. I also agree with you about the unusual placement of the fingerprint scanner, it WAS kind of weird at first - but after about a week of use you get used to it and it becomes a non-issue after that. Ultimately, both machines are quite capable - IMO the Envy is just a better value for the price. Thanks again for the great review!

    Super great comparison video! Love it. But there is one thing not mentioned that could be a deal breaker for some user: Lenovo RAM is soldered, hence not upgradable. For me, i am more concerned if soldered RAM failed, whether if lenovo will be able to replace the soldered RAM or expect me to buy a new laptop.

    • @TechThatOut
      @TechThatOut  2 года назад +6

      Both laptops have soldered Ram. Most ultrabooks have the same. But I understand I will mention from next time.
      As far as I'm aware, Ram failure would be under warranty as it's a part from Lenovo them selves and is a part of the motherboard. I have never seen a Ram failure in a device apart from 8 year old DDR3 physical stick.

      Both these laptops should do the job. HP's Ryzen chip is powerful for processing and getting tasks done with less battery consumption.
      The Intel chip has better GPU performance. So anything that needs hardware acceleration like rendering would be better on the Lenovo. But your basic work on the timeline will be faster on the HP but export times will be lesser on the Lenovo

      Gaming would be better in the Yoga. Whereas rest all is great on the Envy with a smaller and lighter form factor. So decide accordingly. Every laptop has storage options or you can upgrade the SSD yourself or in a shop to make it more economical.

      If you want a smaller machine, HP Envy. It also has the best I/O with good battery life given the size.
      If you value a good keyboard & trackpad with the best integrated graphics, then Lenovo Yoga 7i. Also it has thunderbolt if you have use for it.

      Editing software is a personal preference. So I'd ask you to experiment and see what suits your best. Few have more features or plugins like Premier Pro bit if you master one, you'd stick to that

    • @TechThatOut
      @TechThatOut  2 года назад

      I'd suggest start with those which have least system requirements. Ultrabooks are not meant to do the heavy lifting of video editing. If it is 1080p it should be okay. But the experience will vary compared to other systems.
