What's your BEST (or WORST) secondhand find ever?! (the more unhinged, the better )
The best thing I have ever found monetarily is an OG Rae Dunn birdhouse that there is like 7 known to exist. I got it for $5.99 and flipped it for $2,500.
Best: patchwork silk kantha quilt for $6. Worst: a cute bathrobe with pockets full of used tissues
I have, in fact, found an urn. It still had ashes in the bottom. I found out when I went to wash it.
Found a cute coat for $12, bought it, the first time I wore it I put my hand in the pocket and found a DIAMOND RING. Which I then sold for about $600 (it wasn't a big diamond).
At my thrift store where i went to college i found a v haunted wicker monkey for a whopping $1.99! I did not buy it because I just couldn't take that energy home with me. I also had to convince my best friend not to buy it either so he wouldn't bring it back to our apartment. I hope that monkey is doing well wherever it ended up lmaoooo!

2:39 I own that Christmas tree, I can't believe I've seen another one of him. I should add that tree doesn't just look like nightmare fuel, he can also move his eyes around and his mouth opening in unsettling motions as he sings deeply the songs of old.

My best thrifted oddity: A realistically painted miniature scene of a bunny near a tree stump with delicate grasses and flowers, BUT PAINTED ON a 4 inch dried TREE FUNGUS!! (The bracken kind that looks like a small plate!)
Sits happily on display in my main room!✨
OH MY GOODNESS! The do not disturb sleeping kitten is actually a mascot for the Chesapeake Bay railroad.
I collect thrift store cats and found a print of “Chessie”. It was an extra special find as my dad is a train engineer!
I knew I recognized her! We have sets of playing cards with Chessie!

My favorite semi cursed find is a frog who wears overalls who croaks "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" when you press his foot. Fatefully there were two of them and my friend has the other one. We display the Christmas frogs all year long
We had one of those that was in a golf outfit and a little Santa hat that croaked Jingle Bells...my dad found it in a gift shop back in the 90s and thought it was hilarious.

Adored this, very fun chill vibes. I have a whole clown collection but the thing that freaks everyone out is a monkey carved from a peach pit, it’s on a piece of paper that says ‘monkey carved from peach pit’ and it hangs on my wall
I love peach pit carvings! I've been making avocado pit carvings for a few years now (highly recommend, surprisingly easy to start!) and I hope to graduate to peach pits someday.

The best, unhinged find I bought was a cursed Rudolf the red nose reindeer plushie! He plays the theme song and the best way I can describe it is that it's possessed. I love him so much

My brother and his best friend have a group chat with me where we send each other the most odd/cursed thrift finds we can find. Most recently, they somehow convinced me to thrift a display plate of Princess Di. It now sits on my parents mantle 🤣

I have a picture of the most beautiful painting from a thrift trip years ago, but I couldn't take it on the plane with me.
Two bears in a boat, going down a river through a mushroom forest at night with fireflies.
Truly magical and I hope to buy it if I'm back there and super lucky, or paint something similar. At the same thrift I found a GORGEOUS 1970s hand made dress I had to have which made leaving the painting a little better.
That chicken box is definitely a checkerboard with a compartment for the pieces! But can stash cigarettes too.
The whole video gives unhinged and unbothered vibes and I'm here for it

So fun to see some spooky highs and lows! I love to document my thrift adventures then subject my friends to abridged photosummaries.
One of my favorite thrift finds was a 3d light switch plate cover with a hummingbird and flowers, I found 2 and of course I had to buy both of them. Even though I only have 1 lightswitch. I gave the other one to my sister. I've never seen anything else quite like them.
That doll with the human hair is hands down the best. Cannot compete. 🙌

I have a fiber optic flower music box from the thrift store too! My husband first suggested it as a Xmas gift for my niece and he could tell I was disappointed by the suggestion, so come Xmas he wrapped it up and gave it to ME! I opened it in front of her and was so excited and surprised to see it that I immediately started bragging to her about it! (We never told her it was going to be gifted to her of course). She didn't understand my excitement and frankly doesn't appreciate it as much as me... so I am the rightful owner. Even though it stopped working because I've used it so much, its still a lifetime thrift find that brings me joy. (o:

From Texas here, my grandmother actually used to illegally make those giant ceramic ET lights! I don't remember the mold maker, but she got her hands on one, and made a few and sold them at state fair shows around Texas. Eventually they got caught and anyone that had the mold was forced to destroy it with a cease and desist order. I wish I still had the one that remained, but they were epically creepy, from first hand child me seeing them stacked on shelves in the garage (aka her studio) I can say I don't think I'd ever buy one if I saw one, but I would check to see if her name was signed on the bottom. Best thrift finds. To many x oversized puffer coat, nearly floor length (sleeping back jacket vibe) for like 5€. Vintage wool cardigan (harry potter witchy vibe) - sadly wasn't careful enough with the wash. Soft platform sandals (only ones which din't hurt me cor years) - was like taking chances and happy for years ❤

I have the majestic, family destroyer cat too! Except mine was my grandma's and I used to sit on it's back as a child. In her house, it had a big swan buddy my sister sat on. Both are in my house.
Can someone please tell me about that white cat sculpture at the end? My partner found a yellow version of that cat (we call it Bruce) in an abandoned building last year. About two weeks later I realized a friend of mine has the white version in her house, and she found hers at an antique store. And now this same cat pops up in this video! What is up with these cats? I must know.
I think they were just really popular in like the 60s/70s? My grandmother used to have a few in her house, and I took one of them when she passed.
These finds are all so amazing. I recently found a truly haunted dresser, (the mirror was broken and cloudy, it had a somewhat stained marble top, oh and a packet of extra buttons in the top drawer) all around fabulous, sadly out of my price range tho for the condition it was in ToT

Cursed… just scary dolls. Best? In the mens section vintage Marino wool vneck marked L, but I’m a small stature human so I left it but kept thinking about it. Went back the next week, it fit me perfectly and then was on sale. Perfection.
found a very wonky garden gnome covered in flowers. brought them home to live by the front door of my apartment but then they were gnomenapped.
I like to joke that my best secondhand finds are my pets 😂. Got the dog from my boyfriend’s parents who couldn’t handle a puppy and found the cat on Craigslist

Hiya N B - I don’t have a specific recc - but I think there are lots of lower price point options that would work for you from Dell/HP. Luckily nice monitors are getting cheaper and cheaper with the growing PC gamer population 👍🏼Just make sure it’s compatible with your machine. I would personally go for something higher-def (2k or 4k res) if you’re going to be doing design work. Hope that helps!
