Can we just appreciate for a moment how many things went wrong for Kathleen in this video, yet she did not give up? She fell asleep and missed the start of her 24 hour window, her camera died on her while doing the block cutting, the paint was wrong, her collar idea didn't go to plan, the audio died, then she had to leave for a work trip. Even the plant refused to cooperate. Two good lessons here, one of which she pointed out was to just roll with problems that come up because they bring new ideas, but the second is... it is okay to ask for help. She phoned a friend that helped point her in the right direction on the paint and the method. Well done on not giving up and knowing when to reach out, Kathleen.
[This is not an entry for a t-shirt although they are very cute. That style of t-shirt and I are not on speaking terms. We are frenemies occasionally. Otherwise, we agree to ignore that the other exists. For anyone reading this, may the odds in be your favor.]
Heya Kat-leen, hehe. First time commenting. Love love love your channel! I'm a 62 yr old former 80's club kid from London, and I've been thrifting since 1980. Yup. But I'll admit that I was down in the dumps fashion-wise for the last ahem/cough years, until I discovered your videos. Oh how you've re-ignited the fashion flame of creative dressing in me! I truly believe the 2xl yellow shirt was perhaps meant for me, and I'll tell you why: 1. I got married last year and am thinking of changing my first name to Kat when I submit my name change, 2. My hubby loves it when I say "the kit kat club" (in a cutesy voice of course!) when referring to our furry fam of five furballs, and finally, and this is the sad one 3. I lost my beloved 18 yr old tuxedo cat (Scribbles) to cancer 3 mths ago. We planted black and white tulips on his lil grave, but squirrels quickly dug up some of them - grr. Anyhoo, thanks for everything you do to encourage our creative juices to flow. Much love, Kat
Slow thrift flips / crafts is the ultimate slow fashion . I too used to be frustrated with my slow projects but a change in mindset really helped me embrace the fun
In earlier comments, someone remarked how great it was to watch Kathleen face one problem after another. Actually, not "problems" just that things she didn't expect kept happening. She's great. She demonstrates clearly and sincerely the wisdom of artists who know there are not mistakes - just new opportunities for learning. And she does it with style and humor.
Easy fix, coming from a fellow artist. Take the black stamp and trace the nose where you want it on the stamp. Carve out the extra rubber that you outlined on your black stamp. Now you have an open space to place the nose and no overlapping ink. Also, When ink gets spotty you can always paint over it with a paintbrush for a more opaque color.

I love that you show the reality of DIY with almost no editing! Makes me feel okay about leaving projects hanging in there waiting to be finished and finding myself feeling really unproductive, it’s okay! We live in a world of immediacy and seeing this kind of content online is what we need 🥺 That being said and as a fellow Kit Cat Klock fan, I would love the lilac shirt with the blue ribbon 🍀 Love the color combo! ☔️💐

Of any DIY and crafting channels I’ve watched, yours is truly the one that has made me feel like maybe I could do these sorts of projects too! Great video, Kathleen. I love how you include all your steps in getting the process to work. As a certified perfectionist, I often get frustrated when I don't get things right the first time. Took many a print class in college for my art degree. Kathleen's vid perfectly demonstrates the process...the losses, the wins, and the appreciation of the little quirks, new information, and skills you find along the way. It's a love-hate thing lol. Also, I mad respect how though the interchangeable hat/collar idea didn't 100% work out, Kathleen used that as a way to adapt to using buttons and ribbon, which imo makes the shirts even better 🤌💋

When you set your rollers down, you should flip them over. The rubber will get flat spots over time. My printmaking teacher use to get onto us all the time for it

Ok, this is a ridiculously fun idea. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Gotta love the trial and error it takes to find just the right technique, right? Just think how fast you'll be at it from here on out though! I am soooo excited about Jenna's house she bought. It's already so cool, even in it's dilapidated state, so it's going to be freaking incredible by the time she's done with it! Loving the bow and button touches!!! I remember when I was younger I used to really wanna make custom tshirts, but I looked it up and saw how much work it was and ended up giving up before even starting 😅

sometimes the best things come from unexpected pivots in the process. i love the 3D elements the buttons and bows add to the print! i wonder if you were to separate the head from the body on the stamps if it would make it easier to have interchangeable neck decorations. the small purple turned out super cute and would be a welcome addition to my closet!

I really enjoy your DIYs Kathleen! A while back you did a video where you talked about adding a cuff to a pair of pants. I did the same recently to a pair of overalls and it made them so much more wearable (I'm 5'9"and before they were just too short). I even embroidered a tiny bear face on the cuff. I'm now keen to try the printing project too. I think the thing that I take away from your videos and projects is 'why not give it a go???'. ❤

The jacquard Neopaque colorants are my allllll time favorite fabric medium, and you can layer them! Best results on very tight woven fabric/leather but it’s totally possible on knits, just make sure you set each color in between 🥰

Very cute. You just inspired me to reuse all the ribbons I cut out of books as a library handler. Yes, we cut the ribbons out of books so they don't get caught in auto material handling machines. I can make little bows and sew them on boring clothes. You probably have winners by now but in my yoyo physique I currently wear xl.

The unpredictable results from printmaking are one of the reasons I adore the medium. :3 Any little mistakes or wonkiness of registration just gives the design a lovingly handmade and rustic feel. ^_^ I also love your 3D elements of ribbons and buttons.
