- This is a rare large double carousel from Chance Rides with the animals and rounding boards being carved by Bradley & Kaye. The band organ is actually a mock up and is there for aesthetics only. It was built here in 1976 when the park was owned by Marriott and named Marriott's Great America. The National Carousel Association says there are three rows on both levels with the outer row on the lower level having standers (animals that don't jump). According to the NCA, there are 88 standing & jumping horses, 15 menagerie animals (4 cats, 1 deer, 1 giraffe, 1 lion, 4 ostriches, 4 pigs, 4 rabbits, 1 tiger, 1 zebra) and three chariots with two on the lower level and one on the upper level.
this is not the only one there is the twin at the other Great America Park in Santa Clara which were both built the same in 1976 along with the same rides
Thank you for sharing this. There are some wonderful figures on this carousel.
Stunning carousel - such beautiful animals! Only saw 2 cats, but there's a camel, and of course the fantastic standing seahorses among the stampede. Looked up the Great America Park featured as Wonder World in the film "Beverly Hills Cop 3."
This one wasn't the park in Beverly Hills Cop 3, the one in California was.
Pie CatLady YEAH!
It’ll be really cool if this kind of carousel would happen at different theme parks across America and around the world!

I went on this the other day. I'm not as agile as I used to be. I was able climb on on my first try. I felt like I should've gotten a screen that said "achievement unlocked: get on the horse" :D
Fabulous! That is some wonderful information and beautifully decorated horses.
This is such a beautiful carousel!
You can’t ride a carousel and not feel like you’re five years old 😃
This is also at Paramount's/California's Great America.
IcemanGaming yep, and both of the parks were once owned by the Marriott Corporation and were both called Marriott's Great America.
Maybe there should be some Great America parks in New Jersey, Florida, Texas, New York, Virginia and other parts of the USA with that carousel but different with lots of different animals!

It’s a double-decker carousel!
I love Yo Gabba Gabba
This carousel all begun with a 1930s miniature model of Columbia carousel.
Happy National Carousel Day!
I hope you got to ride one today. 🎠 😎
@@woodencoasterfan I took virtual rides and glimpses just for fun!
I am riding on confetti's yellow evolution
Sarai Sanders YEAH!

Carmine Crincoli unfortunately that won’t happen. Marriott originally built the two Great America parks in 1976 and intended for them to be resorts with Marriott hotels attached. Unfortunately things didn’t work out for some reason and the hotelier sold the parks. This one was bought by Six Flags and the other one was bought by Paramount which was later sold to Cedar Fair and now operates under the “California’s Great America”. This carousel is actually considered a menagerie as it has different animals other than horses. There are a few carousels in Central Florida with Prince Charming’s Golden Coral at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, the Carrou-Seuss-el at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, the Sea Carousel at SeaWorld Orlando, and the Caravan Carousel at Busch Gardens Tampa. The Carrou-Seuss-el is very unique as it is themed to Dr Seuss and features figures from the stories and is the world’s largest single platform carousel.
Themeparkfanatic I see...
I live close to here and does anyone know anything about the band organ and if it ever plays?
I’m pretty sure what you see there isn’t actually a working band organ. I believe it was built specifically for looks.
@@woodencoasterfan Oh I see!
Flag music round water
50 ft double decker?
Who made this?
Wario Wario I believe Chance Rides made this.
It looks like a DH Morgan
Jason The Cat this was built long before the D.H. Morgan company was founded. It was actually built by Chance Rides in the 1970’s
Themeparkfanatic, true, DH Morgan founded in 1983.
Why isn’t the Wurlitzer 150 working?
It’s not real.
Are you sure that there is a zebra on there?
Dragon Plush I don’t know...
But a zebra would be cool for this carousel!
Dragon Plush The National Carousel Association says there is one on there but it may have been removed for some reason when I shot this video. Parks usually do have figures they can put in its place when one or two are being restored/refurbished.
Qertu,qweyyd❤😊
You forgot to add a T to the title.
Kyutamajin what do you mean by that? There already is a “t” in the title.
It said A, instead of at.
