And also just so you know somebody else’s assistant accused dr Luke of rape to try and get their boss out of a contract with him.

    Thank you. I was raped at 19, and only told my roommate until I was 29. Then I told my family and a therapist. It's wonderful to see intelligent people fighting back against this sick, twisted response people have about rape. As you stated, it makes no sense that Kesha is trying to extort him. It's just another smear campaigns conducted against a rape victim. After I was raped, I saw other girls come forward about their own rapes, and the school twice punished the victims for underage drinking, but the boys were not punished at all. By the way, my rapist is a huge success in the music industry! I wish there had been a supportive environment where I could have pressed charges, and gotten some help for myself, but I fell into a deep depression for years afterward.

You have NO idea what it's like and DV follows the same gameplan. I have a million examples from my personal life and across the US. Do you know how many rape kits are left untested for a decade+? This is widespread and a global issue. Don't you dare blame us. WE did not climb on top of ourselves and traumatize ourselves. Your comment is blaming victims/survivors. You said this 8 years ago. • @teekay2572
    @teekay2572 7 лет назад +193

    Ok, this hits hard for me. I'm crying my eyes out...I thank the people in this video, especially the first woman. I was a victim of rape 20 years ago and I never have gone forward with it. For the exact reasons she said: the finger pointing, the "you wanted it" etc. Because in the majority of cases the rapist is known by the victim. 99 times out of 100 - not always, but most often the crime is committed by someone known to you. And that's how they get away with it. Because DNA doesn't prove rape. It only proves that there was sex. Not whether it was consensual or not. So the rapist will say that it was consensual she just regretted it later etc, etc. And also it is EXTREMELY rare that rape cases ever get as far as a court room. And if/when it does get that far, the VICTIM is the one on trial, not the criminal! The criminal gets all the rights, while the victims history is ripped apart.
    I wish I was strong enough to stand up and go through trying to prosecute. But I'm not. I wasn't 20 years ago, and I'm even worse now. PTSD has ruled my life. I am triggered by words, smells, sounds, and can't have anyone touch my ears (it's too personal to explain the reason.) The flash backs, the nightmares are never ending. I've tried so many Therapies, Therapists, Phycologists, psychiatrists etc to name. Yet it still feels like yesterday that it happened. I tried to block it out, which only kinda worked for not even 3 years, because it would keep invading no matter how hard I tried.
    Then there are people who DO lie about being raped. Which makes me crazy angry. This is not a thing to be played with! And they make the REAL victims look really bad. That's why we don't get taken seriously. That's why SO MANY rapes go unreported! And I can't blame the people who don't want to report it, because look what happens most of the time when people DO come forward.
    And believe me, the shame, the feeling dirty, the questioning to ourselves of "did I ask for it, did I send mixed signals, did I fight hard enough, did I scream loud enough" NEVER EVER stops. The guilt, being ashamed, that I "let" it happen, that I somehow "deserved it." - I know isn't true, but deep down I still feel those feelings a lot. For the victim, it's a life long sentence, for the rapists when on the rare occasion they are found guilty only get a few years of punishment, whereas for us it's a life time punishment. And for all the ones who get away with it, they couldn't care less about what they did and will often go do it again and again. And yes, I know it's because a lot of victims don't report it. So how can we complain when they go do it again, we should have tried to stop them. I get that I do. But it's easier said than done. There is so much SHAME and dirtiness that comes with being raped. We don't want to relive it, we don't want to see the person that raped us again and again, we mostly just want to forget it ever happened and never think of it again EVER. So something needs to change in rape culture. The way victims are treated is appalling. And if this is how someone well known gets treated, what hope do us nameless people have?
    But thank you to this show, and all of the people standing behind Kesha. There has to be a way to change rape culture...

    Tbh what has happened to Kesha is so unfortunate and sad. Who else remembers when Tik Tok and her other songs were dominating the charts and all over the radio? She is so talented and has so many hits. She was basically on top of the world then all of the sudden this whole Dr. Luke situation comes to light. I remember seeing that video of her in court crying and it honestly pissed me off. I could tell that was coming from a place of hurt and sadness. No matter what, I hope Kesha continues to stay positive because people will always like her music. At the end of the day, Dr. Luke has to live with what he did.

    Speaking to the Taylor/Demi situation. Taylor probably wanted to stay neutral as far as the argument over his guilt or not because it hasn't been established, what she did also speaks on behalf of her opinion over the situation. and it's obvious not everyone has the money to do that, but she does and the fact that she decided to use it in this manor rather than buying. new car also speaks volumes about where her heart is. No one would be questioned her had she not done this, so I believe her position was to 1.not blast the producer when she doesn't know the truth and 2. still support an artist who potentially had this horrible thing happen. Demi is right, it should be talked about, but Taylor choosing to act in this manor isn't wrong, it's simply to remain neutral. It's possible Dr.Luke didnt commit this crime, and choosing to go on record saying he's guilty as others have done could be damaging to her. She still made a statement of her support.

  • @luketheler2225
    @luketheler2225 8 лет назад +11

    I loved all of this except for Grace's support towards Demi's posts; they're so self-centered it's ridiculous. This isn't about Demi or about Taylor, this is about Kesha - Demi turning this into a competition and saying that she somehow cares more than Taylor (or other people) because she threw some tweets into the universe is absolutely absurd. Multiple people can care about an issue and support it in different ways. I'm a big fan of Demi's music and message, but she's coming across so immature and self-righteous in this whole thing.

      Whats sad is any proof is likely gone at this point. She could have gone to the hospital or turned over clothing she wore for DNA but its gone now. Doesn't sound like there were witnesses. But they are absolutely right. I've been in that boat. So many victims feel ashamed, don't want to talk about it as they just relive everything, fear retaliation and some flat out deny it because it's so painful to process. After I came forward, the slut shaming and retaliation was AWFUL. Brutal, heartless, cruel and inhumane doesn't even begin to cover it. I was blackmailed by the offender and his friends. You're in hell before you come forward and you're in hell after you come forward. Its a mindfuck all around. Thankfully, the harassment towards me has stopped now but the words, the images of that day, remembering how bad I was shaking when I went to the police will forever be in my mind...no matter how scared someone is, if they fall victim to any crime or witness one, go to the police immediately. Time is of the essence in criminal cases.

Michael Jackson made billions for Sony. Kesha is a grain of sand on a beach to Sony. They don't care about her they care about MONEY!!!! Defending this "Dr.Luke" won't cost that much money (to Sony), to defend him. Kesha isn't going to bring them enough money to care. If they release her from her contract now it's like an admission of guilt to them. They aren't going to care. But why aren't the other artists with Sony making a stand? Because they care about their money, their careers to do so! We live is messed up society that's only getting worse. So Sony you go ahead and flex your balls against this young girl, go ahead and destroy her and continue to make your millions everyday. Where's Kenya's big mouth stand against what's happening? Interesting. Look at the body language of the woman on the left side at 10:31. When she says to the man on the far right, "You are trying to stay neutral...". She is completely convinced of her own conclusions in this case, and she is totally unwilling to accept any other possibility. She has her arms crossed as well as her legs (she was already sitting in this position from the beginning) as she dismisses the perspective of the man on the right. The person in the middle is sitting more or less passively in the while occupying more physical space with her posture. It shows more confidence and calm on her part. I'm not judging the merits of the arguments either way because what we do know conclusively at this point is that Kesha lost the case; right, wrong, or otherwise. But, I find it interesting to see how people subconsciously telegraph what they are feeling. If this was a business deal, the woman on the left would not be moved from her position.

      A bunch of kids were molested by some clergyman at my friend's Lutheran Church. It's very common and yet the media doesn't report it. Kids are raped all of the time in schools and yet no one brings that up. He's ignorant. Anyplace where there are children: schools, churches, YMCA, etc, will attract pedophiles. I'm tired of people acting like all priests are pedophiles. It is not true. Some are pedophiles and some are not. The same applies to schoolteachers, coaches and anyone else that works with kids.

    I'm not saying that she's lying or anything, because on this particular issue I'm on Kesha's side, but I think there has to be some evidence for there to be repercussions for Dr. Luke. There are a lot of cases where the "victim" cries wolf and people are wrongfully imprisoned, so I just think the standard thing should be to have evidence. I do think that they should've let her out of the contract since she was obviously in a lot of distress. She didn't even ask for him to be thrown in jail, so it's not like what she wanted was unreasonable. Honestly, I feel awful for Kesha.

    They just hit the nail when they say: "I see Dr. Luke caring, Kesha caring, even if they're in opposite sides....but for Sony, it's all about the image of the company, contracts and money". That's the sad reality. People still saying Kesha lies don't realize she is actually destroying her career by accusing her producer and that she will be canned and frozen, she will not sing again. She CAN'T sing unless Sony allows her to do so, or breaks her contract so she can look for another record label. By denying to break the contract, they're effectively killing her musically because they won't support a singer that crossed them either. Why would she lie, anyways??? Because she is a masochist that enjoys poverty and going back to working at McDonalds??? In the meantime, Dr. Luke has all the reasons in the world to deny the charges, and Sony, to avoid being seen as a company that supports rapists and abusers, will side with him, just like The Vatican protects pederasts. Only people that have been in the music or film industry know for a fact how powerful producers and directors are, how common sexual favors (willingly given) and abuse (forced by powerful people on artists) are, and how thin the line between those categories (sexual favor vs. being raped) is.

      +Kaylasa JaguarStar Why would Sony keep someone who wont make money?

    • @JaguarStar999
      @JaguarStar999 8 лет назад

      Simbarashe Nyamarebvu Because that way she can't go to another label to make money for others and talk badly about them. But don't be mistaken; the fact Sony has decided to keep Kesha does NOT mean they will make another album for her; they will simply do what labels do with 50% of artists: she will be "canned", not released from her contract but they won't spend money on her either and they won't allow her to work. So Kesha will have to start working outside music to pay the rent, and that's how Sony will effectively kill her career.

  • @Gurubu
    @Gurubu 8 лет назад +5

    First - its a he said/she said scenario. IMO Kesha is a sociopath. If you want proof check out her reality show. Also her mother emailed Dr. Luke saying they'd go public with rape allegations if they didn't dissolve the contract (if that's the case why not go directly for charges against Dr. Luke?).
    Also a direct quote from Kesha: "I knew everything about sex before I was even seven. My mom left me at home when I was 14 with a credit card, and a box of condoms and the keys to the car and said, 'Don't get pregnant and don't drink and drive'." (Great parenting). Add to that, in 2011 in a legal deposition she said Dr. Luke did nothing. This story is complicated but bottom line - don't make a deal with the devil (sign contracts) if you don't want to lose your soul. Love is love - business is business.
    The whole situation just sounds fishy on both sides but you can't necessarily fault Sony for not having "feelings". Businesses aren't run on feelings. Now if Dr. Luke was charged in a court of law - different story they most likely would drop him (although in this day and age, companies get rid of people after "allegations" without requiring courts, or proof).

  • @moonlitegram
    @moonlitegram 8 лет назад +86

    Innocent until proven guilty. Due process is important. We'd all want it if we were accused of a crime. This court of public opinion is disgusting.
    If its proven in court that Dr. Luke did commit these crimes, then by all means, prosecute him to the full extent of the law. Until then, ruining a person's life on allegations is absolutely deplorable.

    • @teekay2572
      @teekay2572 7 лет назад +38

      moonlitegram how is his life ruined?? He's still doing well and making plenty of $$ I get your point, I really do, but it's VERY hard to prove a rape occurred. All DNA does is prove they had sex, he will say it was consensual, she will say it wasn't. And it's hard to prove years after the fact when any DNA will be forever lost. So I get you saying not to label him a rapist for life, but you have to understand, we (as rape victims) are damned if we DO (speak up) and also damned if we don't (speak up). So she's a liar and bitter if she comes forward, but if she stays quiet people say "why didn't she report it, she must be lying. Until you've been a victim of rape, you can't understand. You think you know what you'd do but when it actually happens you may react a completely different way. Shame, the relationship between the people: one younger, one older, someone in a position of power versus someone at a lower level, etc etc. It can change EVERYTHING. Not trying to argue, I'm just trying to give you my point of view. Take care.

      Sad thing is, is that it's hard to prove you've been raped (unless you report it as soon as possible, of course). And sometimes they will try to justify rape by asking questions like "what were you wearing?" And saying "you should have tried to fight it off stronger". Sometimes the system can be really fucked up. The least they should do is allow her to not work with them.

    I don't like Sam's passionate view in this case. She has obviously not done her research on "false rape accusations." Reason why? Because it's literally a dark number statistic. We can't know how many false cases were done because they are false! Every statistican knows that to know something like this, every single women who made a false accusation has to come out and tell the truth of what she did. And there is no way in heck that even a fraction of women are going to do that. There's no way to know that number. That's why we have evidence ladies. Because we don't know who is lying and who isn't.

    • @thomasrudiger2035

      People are sooo stupid. The thing is, Kesha lost most of her money due to her lawsuit and after her injunction against Dr. Luke was denied, Sony offered her to work with other producers if she publicly apologizes and claims her allegations are a lie. But she refused and accepted that her career would be damaged even further. Would a liar do this? Kesha risked everything she had and yet there are people who think she lied, although Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Becky G, Charli XCX and others also stated based on their personal experiences what a disgusting person Dr. Luke is. Kelly Clarkson even refused writing credits for a song produced by Dr. Luke once because she hated him so much that she did not want to be associated with him and P!nk said that she feels not sorry for him, that he is not a great human being and what happened to him due to Kesha's case is karma. Charli XCX wrote a whole song about her negative experiences with him called "Sucker".
