    I think every man wants a woman like Adrian, and a best friend like Apollo. A woman who is always going to have your back and lift you up, and a best friend who can rival you and push you to your furthest limits as a person. Rocky 3 is so great.

      Yeah they did and Apollo supported Rocky at a perfect time in Rocky 3 when Mickey died. It wasn't just the fact that he lost that first fight to clever or whatever his name was but Mr T played the character. What bothered him the most was that when that big mouth monster psycho boxer pushed Mickey,.& Mickey was having a heart attack right before the match, Rocky went on to fight and he couldn't focus. Rocky got knocked out in the second round and was able to at least get in and see Mickey right before he died.. when Rocky was training for the rematch against Mr T, Clubber, Rocky was still afraid. He was still thinking about the fight and thinking about everything Mickey told him and thinking about Mickey dying. Once he pushed himself to get beyond that with his wife's help and Apollo's help, Rocky was able to see and knew for himself that he was a good boxer and a really great boxer working and being trained by Mickey. The problem with the Rocky was that he was fast but not quite fast enough. He was not fast enough to keep away and stay out of reach of clubber. Clover wasn't used to fighting more than one or two rounds and he would get so wound up that he would wear himself out. Apollo Creed taught Rocky to be faster and be able to duck very fast back and forth! That was perfect training and Apollo was the perfect coach for fighting Clubber. Apollo saw what the guy was fighting like and he knew how Rocky did.. there was just a few things Rocky had to learn very very well and perfect it to be able to wear out and exhaust clubber in three rounds or four rounds. .One of the best scenes was when he had Rocky running on the beach. When Rocky finally beat Apollo running on the beach, he was so psyched. The rematch between Rocky and clover was absolutely freaking fantastic and Rocky went from being a great fighter to awesome.. he was an 8 plus before and Apollo Creed trained him to be a 10 plus. Clubber was breathing heavy in the second round. Rocky knew he wasn't going to last long and he was taunting the guy. I think when they started the third round, Rocky knew w Clubber was tired and he just TORE into him.

    Not many will agree with me, but for me, from a technical standpoint, this is the best training montage of the Rocky Series. I know it is not as badass as seeing Stallone lift a log while walking through a snow knee deep. Looking back, this is the only time really that Rocky trained for any strategy. Here he learns footwork, head movement, and yeah the swimming part does make sense because this works all of your muscles altogether. He is also learning how to dodge and counter.

I remember watching rocky 1-4 training montages over and over when I was about 15 in 2005. kept me motivated as hell to workout , eat clean and become the best version of myself there’s ever been. I miss those days but watching it always puts a smile on my face as I remember the good old days. It really sucks that we have no choice but to grow old and eventually die. RIP Apollo Creed

    I love how Rocky is learning and taking this slow when Apollo says to him “no no Rock, just flick it just flick it” you can tell and see in his eyes how he’s not use to this kind of new school training if you will. Because Micky was very old school in his training, with the shoe string for balance, chasing the chicken for speed, making him into a right handed fighter by punching the bag 500 times......Apollo took him into unfamiliar territory with this style of training by being lighter on your feet, doing more cardio for stamina as well as speed, working on his dodging reflexes not just slipping the jab that Micky taught him, a very new fighting style that Apollo knows very well thanks to Duke.

    • @JoeFanik
      @JoeFanik Год назад +5

      That's what makes this so amazing. If Rocky was able to stand against Apollo with old school training, he'd be unstoppable if he learned how to fight like the former champ and Apollo knew this

    I always come back to this video every year. I have been trying to bulk up and gain muscle for years while struggling with depression and anorexia. The first few years I barely gained much of my goal and struggled with mental issues. I didn’t have the body I wanted even after trying to train, I hated myself everyday in the mirror. But I never gave up. I learned better form, more exercises, and better diets. I trained as much as I could and gained weight. I pushed through as much as I could. 4 years have passed then and I’m finally getting to where I want to be, and I’m doing it for myself not anybody else. That’s the power scenes like this hold. They inspire so many of us and so many fans. I saw rocky push through and power through any obstacle because his heart and goals were made of steel. That inspired me. That made me want to push through my goals to and never give up. I felt inspiration and wanted to use it, but I had to push and fight for the results. The fight was long, but I’m finally seeing true results mentally and physically. Anybody can do it, but you gotta put forth the effort and rise through the pain.
    So no matter who you are or what weight you are, just do your best and keep pushing. Get support and get help from those around you, it’ll help you push even more effectively. The important thing is to keep pushing. Adjust your goals and work your way slowly if needed. Just keep pushing. As rocky once said “It doesn’t matter how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward”

    Before Rocky III he was just a fighter who could throw powerful left hooks and then Apollo trains him into an athlete who could jab and use his speed to beat his opponent, this is what confused Clubber lang in the second fight, first he used his jab so Clubber Lang couldn't touch him and then hooks to knock him out in the later rounds when Clubber Lang was tired! I love this training scene! It incorporates a broken mans personal desire to rise and become a champion again, all in the space of around 3 minutes! Excellently directed.

    With all due respect to Stallone for writing, acting and directing brilliantly, this montage is such a masterpiece between the director of photography Bill Butler and editor Don Zimmerman and others OTHER than Stallone because they are using light, shadow and editing to show a man coming out of the darkness into the light. Look at the early scenes of the montage where Rocky is moving between light and shadow in the dark gym, light and dark, deciding if he really wants this? And as the montage progresses, the scenes get lighter and lighter until the final scene on the beach is shot with NO shadows, which visually represents that Rocky has cast his shadows of the past and is ready. I'm sorry but Stallone did not have anything to do with this master photography and editing. These are MASTERS that were helping him. And I'm sure Stallone would give such credit.
