Did anyone notice that the kick that was done in 1:11, was the same kick that Devon had used during Cobra Kai's season 4 Valley competition? Seems that Johnny had passed some of his signature moves to the next generation!😀

Yeah I DID notice a lot of familiar moves like that. Also is it just me, or does Johnny keep going for bonus points? He keeps landing hits on people twice, but I can't tell if it's because they're blocking bis first hits or not.
The last time I watched the movie was in the mid-90s. Fast forward to yesterday, I watched it with my kids n we truly enjoyed it. I'm glad the kids loved it.
It's more than a karate movie. It's a lesson of life. A philosophy of the fight. I like this movie. There is a very strong link between the pupil and his teacher.
@@FranklinSninsky Have you seen Cobra Kai? That's the twist that they play with. In one of the first scenes old man Johnny beats up some bullies - just like Miyagi - to save a kid, and he gets arrested! What you would expect to happen in real life.
My name is Daniel, this movie always resonated with me. I was watching for the first time in many years a couple of nights ago. I saw this movie at the theater in 1984. There's a scene where Danielson is wearing an '89 San Diego Charger jersey, the scene before he goes to the Halloween dance, and Mr. Miyagi has a few pumpkins. My Son is born All Hallows Eve, my Great Pumpkin (The Great Pumpkin), Jason is born in 1989, the fall of communism. These are more than montages for me, they're my real life. The first time I was arrested was Halloween night 1976 because I took a BB gun out to get payback on the teenagers who would throw eggs at the children and shoot us with fire extinguishers. My dad left me in jail overnight and I had a chat without our Creator.
For whatever reason, it seems like montages are either more difficult to me now because of the set precedence, or directors these days are just not creative enough to make the right. You hardly find movies with awesome catchphrases like SWEEP THE LEG or GET EM IN A BODY BAG JOHNNY. Just not the same
2:35 Tomm'ys anger... Miyagi's confidence... The ref calling Daniel winner and Daniel's face of unbelief... Kreese and Dutch looking worried... This ten seconds paid the whole video and movie. Great acting sequence!!
Dutch struck fear in Daniel’s heart, which led to overconfidence. Look at Pat staring at Dutch. He can see the overconfidence but recognizes Dutch is an absolute badass. I wish he would have reprised his role in Cobra Kai.
I love to watch this, Ralph looks so much like my son Wes, those sweet dark eyes and the way he acts My son passed away, but what joy it brings me now just to watch Ralph in this
When this movie came out it was the hottest rental. Every Friday my bro & cousin would go to the video store to hire it & would come home with no Karate Kid until that Friday they did. We watched so many times until we had to take it back. Awesome film!
Karate Kid 1 - Daniel gets beaten up by bullies, learns new techniques from Mr. Miyagi, wins in the end. Karate Kid 2 - Daniel gets beaten up by bullies, learns new techniques from Mr. Miyagi, wins in the end. Karate Kid 3 - Daniel gets beaten up by bullies, learns new techniques from Mr. Miyagi, wins in the end. But damn if the series isn't awesome.
I could see why. IMO I felt Jackie Chan was a more believable teacher than Pat Morita and it's tougher for a 12 (?) year old kid going across the world than a 17 year old across country. But in the end, that one's still a remake. This one is considered a classic by the same director and songwriter who did Rocky.
rafterscott I just hate how he dealt with a seasoned expert in a fight to death in KK2, yet he was afraid of some other karate nut and couldn't defend himself after all his training in KK3 and before.
@@boston_8213 Yeah probably around Episodes 5-7 will see Danny and Johnny team up along with Chozen. Terry Silver should make an appearance by the end of the season hopefully.
“Lesson not just karate only. LESSON FOR WHOLE LIFE.” “LIE BECOMES TRUTH ONLY IF A PERSON WANNA BELIEVE IT.” “It’s okay to lose to opponent. NEVER OKAY TO LOSE TO FEAR.”
Daniel: "You know what Mr. Miyagi said was the best defense in all of karate? The best defense is 'no be there'." Johnny: "You mean don't be there? The guy teaches you centuries of his ancient family karate, you can't help him with English?" 1-0 Lawrence
Love how LeRusso looks as nervous as can be the entire time, even looks to be shaking in fear/preparation. Really gives the viewers something to think about his character.
Daniel was the Bitch in the movie , he only make problems ( as a new kid on his school ) Jonny and his GF has a clintch , Daniel interrupts . I think daniel is the asshole not Jonny. Jonny never hit when Daniel was down ( He always shows mercy ) but daniel provoke him to be without mercy ( sry 4 my bad english )
MultiGhetto15 SMFH so Daniel shouldve stayed back and let Johnny be a jerk to the girl when she didn't wanna talk to him and then when he tried to help it makes him the bad guy? Honestly Johnny started their first fight by shoving him which was not necessary really.
I still remember being a child around 4-5 having memories of the 2nd movie with the girl on the tree and Daniel rushing to save her. I’m 18 now damn how time flies I love these movies
I grew up in the era when the movie came out and this movie was awesome. I think it has inspired a lot of children to stand up for them selves when times got rough in their lives at school. And some good life lessons “there is no such a thing as a bad student, only bad teacher” what reflects on parents and their bad behavior around their own kids and towards others.
I love the detail that they made Daniel a quick/nervous fighter, it shows he’s new to karate and nervous but still knows how to fight thanks to his great sensei.
You mean "the valley" they sure did, just 👀 at the the population of that part of the outskirts of L.A., they're not too many black people in the valley. They would rather live by the city or by neighboring 🍊 County
@@Tiger-uf4lk I imagine that Dutch probably would've gotten disqualified after that. It's not really surprising that he lost to Daniel since, in most cases fighting so overconfident and aggressively will make you fight stupidly. Like he literally just runs INTO Daniel's kick.
I was nine when this came out. Even over here in the UK it was huge and I wore out my vhs copy. So many elements. Coming of age, facing down bullies, first love, father/ son dynamic. Loved it. Cobra Kai took it and made it for today with a fleshed out Johnny and now Kreese, and gave it shades of grey. All while keeping the old elements.
How satisfying would it be to have this song in a training montage in the final season? Just imagine with the flashbacks and then cutting to Johnny and Daniel training their students together. And then cuts to Terry Silver and the Cobra Kai and then back to the heros, and seeing all the passion in them.
jackthedoofus hitler is in any case different from poods, and poods is not hated people like you are just jealous cause he is funny cool and famous and so u wish u were like him, some other people hate him because they say he is childish, and if u are one of them then.. he makes it on purpose to make people laugh.
gamingtube You know who has more followers than pewdiepie? Justin Bieber...scary right? sooo...apparently comparing talent or greatness by the amount of fans is not such a good idea.
This song was originally written for Rocky III, hence the line "history repeats itself" in the song, but Sylvester Stallone opted for the song "Eye of the Tiger" instead as the theme song. It was almost used in the movie "Flashdance" but that movie ended up using "Maniac" for the theme song.
I heard he originally wanted Another Bites the Dust by Queen but the group didn't allow it. I never knew though that it was almost used in Flashdance but they made the right decision with Maniac. Eye of the Tiger, Maniac, and You're the Best Around were perfect for their movies.
2:23 and 3:13 I'm actually glad that they showed Tommy and Dutch Landing those first points on Daniel. So many movies like this, you're so used to seeing the protagonist become OP to the point where the bullied and antagonists can never land a hit on him anymore. But it makes sense that Daniel didn't become OP in comparison to Johnny's gang because, he was being trained to be defensive while THEY were the opposite. So the odds are evened out rather than stacked higher against the bullies. Also I like how, Tommy and Dutch are kinda shown as being thr more aggressive and bloodthirsty out of thr 5 bullies, snd yet they were easier to fight than Johnny and Bobby.
As legend has it, as Kreese said "I don't want him beaten." Tommy, Bobby and Dutch were DQd. If they played it straight up, Dan wouldn't have beaten all 3. Definitely would not have beaten Dutch. Heck, even Migayi had that "f this guy" look after kicking Dan in the face.
@@legendarygamer570 Absolutely. See, I'm perfectly fine with a lead protagonist who's immesenly powerful and skilled for no reason (argubaly). All I ask is that you dont purposefully make them untouchable to where they never take damage, which Rey is a prime example of the Mary Sue section protagonist.
@@isaactheworshipwarrior6687 Well Rey is that way due to lazy storytelling and woke writers/producers. Ashoka was a much better example of how to do it right.

Tricky _ Would love to see more Miyagi resurgence in the series along with Kreese redemption arc. Miyagi always knew Kreese was a lost soul, a war torn soul, and as a WW II vet he understood the inner conflict. When he faces off with Kreese it is never out of hate but pity even if Kreese is consumed by it. Which is why when he saves Johnny at the beginning of KK2 and has Kreese down instead of knocking him down with revenge in his heart, he has pity and just honks his nose like saying "No room for hate bro." One more lesson for Daniel-san.
abstractmilk2 I think majority of us think this way. Cobra Kai is the shit - then and now. Can't wait for the Redemption arc on John Kreese - the PTSD war vet haunted by his experience and feeling his America was too soft for the horrors out there and made Cobra Kai dogo. In Vietnam he HAD to strike first, he HAD to strike hard, he HAD to have no mercy. Personally, I would love to see Johnny revealed as a war vet himself. All Season 1 is seemed he was living that way. He probably realized in war Cobra Kai saved his ass in Iraq and Afghanistan but was unable to fit in in society that he fought to defend and like Kreese he sees American society too soft for the world beyond. He is one of the "Deplorables" while Daniel is progressive liberal type guy in XXI century but both come from the same cloth - Americans. Both should go and kick ANTIFA's asses Sensei Kreese still has some lessons to teach Johnny , and much to learn from Johnny - vet to vet.
I keep coming back to this movie and enjoy watching it over and over again through the years. Some films are highly rewatch able and Karate Kid continues to be even thirty years later! This is such a brilliant song choice to use to go along with the tournament preliminary fight sequence. I always stop to watch it over and over again!

This movie never gets old. Much respect to everyone involved in it. Every actor excels in their performance but I think Darryl Vidal is the best fighter in the tournament.
Did anyone notice that the kick that was done in 1:11, was the same kick that Devon had used during Cobra Kai's season 4 Valley competition? Seems that Johnny had passed some of his signature moves to the next generation!😀

SWEEP THE LEG. I wished more modern movies used montages to pump people up. They might be silly and cheesy by today's standards, but they work.
Nathan Masters beautifull sonore BaND for recording time upon
It’s better then iron man shit
For whatever reason, it seems like montages are either more difficult to me now because of the set precedence, or directors these days are just not creative enough to make the right. You hardly find movies with awesome catchphrases like SWEEP THE LEG or GET EM IN A BODY BAG JOHNNY. Just not the same
Mao Villadel you're spot on. The eighties set the bar really high, especially in music, so it's extremely hard to top it.
2:35 Tomm'ys anger... Miyagi's confidence... The ref calling Daniel winner and Daniel's face of unbelief... Kreese and Dutch looking worried... This ten seconds paid the whole video and movie. Great acting sequence!!

Wished we would have gotten a longer scene when Daniel was up against Dutch. That would have been one hell of a battle.
Originally after Daniel got the point Dutch tackled him and tried to punch him. I don't know why they cut out the full battle.
@@Tiger-uf4lk i always thought that scene looked truncated heavily. Such a shame since dutch was like the scary mini-boss before the real deal johnny.
2:23 and 3:13
I'm actually glad that they showed Tommy and Dutch Landing those first points on Daniel.
It's why Rey from the new Star wars movies sucked. She was OP from the beginning and never paid her dues.
@@legendarygamer570 Absolutely.

I love the original Karate Kid. But Cobra Kai is the shit! Can’t wait for season 2!
abstractmilk2 I think majority of us think this way.
Both should go and kick ANTIFA's asses
Sensei Kreese still has some lessons to teach Johnny , and much to learn from Johnny - vet to vet.
