I love it! I think I can handle this with its straight lines. I need a lot of work on my roses with their c-curves. I also like the varying shades of green.

This is right down my alley -- we have prickly pear cactus w/yellow flowers here in So Tx. Really enjoyed watched you paint all 3 cacti in pots which I shall have to try (using Televara hues for pots)! Love all your videos and commentary! Thanks for sharing!!

Beautiful, thank you! More such videos please. On Instagram, there's a huge vibe in the last couple of years about "modern folk art", which looks a lot like a modern version of Eastern European folk art. Tropes include women among vegetation, cats in vegetation, kitchens, landscapes etc. What sets them apart, is the extreme decoration of objects. For example, the humans might be left completely unpainted, while the flowers around them, or what they wear are full of decorative designs. It's definitely not a loose style, and it requires color pencils for the final touches, but it's super popular right now.

Hey I finally found this and had time to follow along. Mostly. I think what I got most out of it was the color mixes, for some reason. Such nice colors, even with my close matches. Also the cactose look great, even though I reversed the pots for 2 of them... thanks for the lesson!!

Nice video. I like the subjects section. Prickly pear cactus was my favorite in the 3. Video had loose water color technique which is my favorite to watch on this channel. As per desert plants Calliandra eriophylla would be my favorite for next one. Keep up the good work Jenna and John :D

I really learned a lot here today by watching how you layer your images with the washes and then on to more layers and then to the final details. The nuances of the shadowing makes the watercolor.Something I forget. Do you ever need to buy new brushes because of use over time? I still love my basic 2, 6 , 12 Princeton brushes. I sue Silver brush too and they all seem to lose a fresh new punch after awhile. Is there something I need to do other than clean with fresh water after each use, which I do. Thanks, Jenna! My favorite desert plant is sagebrush.
Hey Cindy! Thanks so much for sharing, glad you're learning!! You know, I have a pretty big collection of brushes, but I pretty much stick with the same ones each and every time. If they're taken care of, they last a very long time! Giving them a good rinse with water when I'm done -- that's all I do! No other solutions or cleaning techniques, just a good rinse. :)

Hardest thing for me, I think, is washing all the pigment off the brush after just mixing it all 😂 Such a waste. Loved the pots.

Its impossible for me to say which cactus I like to paint. Because I'm a Succulent junkie. I have many. They are fascinating plants. True survivors.
I have a QUESTION: I heard an artist say that you shouldn't use your good brushes to mix colors because it thrashes the tip. Her brush of choice are synthetic. I see you mixing color with your preferred synthetic brushes. I don't have a big budget for my art and certainly don't want to thrash what I have. Thoughts?
Haha, succulent junkie, love that. As far as brushes go (and really with anything for my relationship to watercolor), I am not super picky and I don't over worry about anything, really... The same brushes that I love to paint with are the exact brushes I mix paint with and after rinsing them with water when I am done -- they're perfectly fine the next time I come back to them. I'd say personal preference and whatever you're most comfortable with. I don't worry too much about these things and my supplies stay great for me!
